1 H8010 And Solomon H1121 the son H1732 of David H2388 [H8691] was strengthened H4438 in his kingdom H3068 , and the LORD H430 his God H1431 [H8762] was with him, and magnified H4605 him exceedingly.
2 H8010 Then Solomon H559 [H8799] spoke H3478 to all Israel H8269 , to the captains H505 of thousands H3967 and of hundreds H8199 [H8802] , and to the judges H5387 , and to every governor H3478 in all Israel H7218 , the heads H1 of the father's houses.
3 H8010 So Solomon H6951 , and all the congregation H3212 [H8799] with him, went H1116 to the high place H1391 that was at Gibeon H168 ; for there was the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H430 of God H4872 , which Moses H5650 the servant H3068 of the LORD H6213 [H8804] had made H4057 in the wilderness.
4 H61 But H727 the ark H430 of God H1732 David H5927 [H8689] had brought up H7157 from Kirjathjearim H1732 to the place which David H3559 [H8687] had prepared H5186 [H8804] for it: for he had pitched H168 a tent H3389 for it at Jerusalem.
  5 H5178 Moreover the brasen H4196 altar H1212 , that Bezaleel H1121 the son H221 of Uri H1121 , the son H2354 of Hur H6213 [H8804] , had made H7760 [H8804] , he put H6440 before H4908 the tabernacle H3068 of the LORD H8010 : and Solomon H6951 and the congregation H1875 [H8799] sought for it.
6 H8010 And Solomon H5927 [H8686] went up H5178 there to the brasen H4196 altar H6440 before H3068 the LORD H168 , which was at the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H5927 [H8686] , and offered H505 a thousand H5930 burnt offerings upon it.
  7 H3915 In that night H430 God H7200 [H8738] appeared H8010 to Solomon H559 [H8799] , and said H7592 [H8798] to him, Ask H5414 [H8799] what I shall give thee.
8 H8010 And Solomon H559 [H8799] said H430 to God H6213 [H8804] , Thou hast shown H1419 great H2617 mercy H1732 to David H1 my father H4427 [H8689] , and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 H3068 Now, O LORD H430 God H1697 , let thy promise H1732 to David H1 my father H539 [H8735] be established H4427 [H8689] : for thou hast made me king H5971 over a people H6083 like the dust H776 of the earth H7227 in multitude.
  10 H5414 [H8798] Give H2451 me now wisdom H4093 and knowledge H3318 [H8799] , that I may go out H935 [H8799] and come in H6440 before H5971 this people H8199 [H8799] : for who can judge H1419 this thy great H5971 people?
  11 H430 And God H559 [H8799] said H8010 to Solomon H3824 , Because this was in thy heart H7592 [H8804] , and thou hast not asked H6239 riches H5233 , wealth H3519 , or honour H5315 , nor the life H8130 [H8802] of thy enemies H7592 [H8804] , neither yet hast asked H7227 long H3117 life H7592 [H8799] ; but hast asked H2451 wisdom H4093 and knowledge H8199 [H8799] for thyself, that thou mayest judge H5971 my people H4427 [H8689] , over whom I have made thee king:
12 H2451 Wisdom H4093 and knowledge H5414 [H8803] are granted H5414 [H8799] to thee; and I will give H6239 thee riches H5233 , and wealth H3519 , and honour H4428 , such as none of the kings H6440 have had that have been before H310 thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13 H8010 Then Solomon H935 [H8799] came H1116 from his journey to the high place H1391 that was at Gibeon H3389 to Jerusalem H6440 , from before H168 the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H4427 [H8799] , and reigned H3478 over Israel.

8

And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

9

Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12

Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

13

Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

14

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15

And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

16

And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

17

And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

Thomson(i) 1 When the authority of Solomon son of David was firmly established over his kingdom, and the Lord his God, being with him, had magnified him exceedingly, 2 Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds and to the judges and to all the chiefs before Israel, namely the heads of the patriarchal families; 3 and he and all the congregation went to the high place at Gabaon, at which place was the tabernacle of the testimony of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness. 4 [But David had brought the ark of God from the city Kariathiarim, for he had provided for it; for he had erected for it a tabernacle at Jerusalem.] 5 The brasen altar also, which Beseleel son of arias son of Or had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. To this therefore Solomon and the congregation repaired. 6 And he made an offering there on the brasen altar before the Lord, on that at the tabernacle. And when he had offered upon it a thousand victims 7 God appeared to Solomon that night and said to him, Ask what I shall give thee. 8 Thereupon Solomon said to God, Thou hast shewn great kindness to my father David, and hast made me king in his stead, 9 now therefore, Lord my God, let thy name I beseech thee be established on my father David. Seeing thou hast made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth, 10 grant me now wisdom and understanding that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people which is so great? 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this hath been in thy heart; and thou hast not asked wealth nor glory nor the life of thy enemies; nor even asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and understanding that thou mayst judge my people over whom I have made thee king: 12 Wisdom and understanding I now give thee: And I will give thee riches and wealth and glory, such as none of the kings who were before thee have had; nor shall any after thee have the like. 13 Then Solomon came to Jerusalem, from the high place at Gabaon, which is before the tabernacle of the testimony; and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon collected chariots, and horsemen, and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. Those he left in the chariot cities; but the people were with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold as plenteous at Jerusalem as stones; and cedars in Judea, like the sykamine trees in the plain for abundance. 16 Now Solomon's horses came up out of Egypt: and this was the price allowed to the king's merchants for going. 17 They purchased, and came up, and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. And at that rate they were brought for all the kings of the Chettites, and by their means for the kings of Syria.

Leeser(i) 1 And Solomon the son of David strengthened himself in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and caused him to become exceedingly great. 2 Then said Solomon unto all Israel, to the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the chiefs of the family divisions that they should go with him. 3 Thereupon went Solomon, and all the assembly with him, to the high-place that was at Gib’on; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness. 4 Nevertheless the ark of God had David brought up from Kiryath-ye’arim to the place which David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem. 5 But the copper altar, which Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Chur, had made, he placed before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the assembly sought for it. 6 And Solomon sacrificed there on the copper altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered upon it a thousand burnt-offerings. 7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. 8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shown unto David my father great kindness, and hast made me king in his stead. 9 Now, O Lord God, let thy word unto David my father be verified; for thou hast made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who could otherwise judge this thy great people? 11 And God said unto Solomon, Whereas this hath been in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thy enemies, and hast not even asked long life; but hast asked for thyself wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king: 12 Therefore are the wisdom and the knowledge granted unto thee; and riches, and wealth, and honor, will I give thee, such as no kings that have been before thee have had, and the like of which after thee none shall have. 13 Then came Solomon from the high-place that was at Gib’on to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon brought together chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placed them in the chariot-cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. 15 And the king rendered the silver and gold at Jerusalem like stones, and cedar-trees he rendered as the sycamore-trees that are in the lowlands for abundance. 16 And Solomon had his horses brought out of Egypt; a company of the king’s merchants bought a quantity at a price. 17 And they brought up, and fetched out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.
YLT(i) 1 And strengthen himself doth Solomon son of David over his kingdom, and Jehovah his God is with him, and maketh him exceedingly great. 2 And Solomon saith to all Israel, to heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, and to judges, and to every honourable one of all Israel, heads of the fathers, 3 and they go—Solomon, and all the assembly with him—to the high place that is in Gibeon, for there hath been God's tent of meeting, that Moses, servant of Jehovah, made in the wilderness, 4 but the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem; 5 and the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it. 6 And Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that is at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings. 7 In that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask—what do I give to thee?' 8 And Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead. 9 Now, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth; 10 now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?' 11 And God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign— 12 the wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who are before thee, and after thee it is not so.'
13 And Solomon cometh in from the high place that is in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel, 14 and Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that are in the low country, for abundance. 16 And the source of the horses that are to Solomon is from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price, 17 and they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram—by their hand they bring out.

Rotherham(i) 1 And Solomon, son of David, strengthened himself over his kingdom,—and, Yahweh, his God, was with him, and made him surpassingly great. 2 And Solomon gave word to all Israel—to the rulers of thousands, and hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the leaders of all Israel, ancestral chiefs; 3 and Solomon, and all the convocation with him, went to the high place that was in Gibeon,—for, there, was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh made in the desert. 4 Howbeit, the ark of God, had David brought up from Kiriath-jearim, into the place that David had prepared for it,—for he had pitched for it a tent, in Jerusalem. 5 Also, the altar of bronze that Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur had made, was there before the habitation of Yahweh,—so Solomon and the convocation sought it. 6 And Solomon went up thither, unto the altar of bronze before Yahweh, which belonged to the tent of meeting,—and caused to go up thereon a thousand ascending-sacrifices. 7 During that night, God appeared unto Solomon,—and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. 8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou thyself, didst deal with David my father in great lovingkindness,—and hast made me king in his stead. 9 Now, O Yahweh Elohim, let thy word with David my father be brought to pass,-for, thou, hast made me king over a people, for multitude like the dust of the earth. 10 Now, wisdom and knowledge, give thou unto me, that I may go out before this people, and may come in,—for who can judge this thy people, that is so great? 11 And God said unto Solomon, Because this was near thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, or the life of them that hate thee, nor even, many days, hast thou asked,—but hast asked for thyself, wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king, 12 wisdom and knowledge, are granted unto thee,—moreover, riches and wealth and honour, will I give thee, such as the kings who were before thee did not possess, neither shall they who come after thee possess the like. 13 And Solomon came from the high place that was in Gibeon unto Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting,—and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and came to have a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen,—and he settled them in chariot cities, and with the king, in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem, like stones, and, cedars, made he like the sycomores that are in the lowland, for abundance. 16 And the horses which Solomon had were, an export, out of Egypt,—and a, company of royal merchants, used to fetch a drove, at a price; 17 and they built and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot, for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse, for a hundred and fifty,-and, so, for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria, by their means, brought they them forth.

BBE(i) 1 And Solomon, the son of David, made himself strong in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and made him very great. 2 And Solomon sent word to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds and to the judges and to every chief in all Israel, heads of their families. 3 Then Solomon, and all the men of Israel with him, went to the high place at Gibeon, because the Tent of meeting of God, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, had made in the waste land, was there. 4 But the ark of God had been moved by David from Kiriath-jearim to the place which he had made ready for it, for he had put up a tent for it at Jerusalem. 5 And the altar of brass which Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the Tent of the Lord; and Solomon and all the people went to give worship there. 6 And Solomon went up there to the brass altar before the Lord at the Tent of meeting, offering on it a thousand burned offerings. 7 In that night God came to Solomon in a vision, and said to him, Say what I am to give you. 8 And Solomon said to God, Great was your mercy to David my father, and you have made me king in his place. 9 Now, O Lord God, let your word to David my father come true; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in number. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, so that I may go out and come in before this people: for who is able to be the judge of this great people of yours? 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you did not make request for money, property, or honour, or for the destruction of your haters, or for long life; but you have made request for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you may be the judge of my people over whom I have made you king: 12 Wisdom and knowledge are given to you; and I will give you wealth and honour, such as no king has had before you or ever will have after you. 13 So Solomon went back from the high place at Gibeon, from before the Tent of meeting, to Jerusalem; and he was king over Israel. 14 And Solomon got together war-carriages and horsemen; he had one thousand, four hundred carriages and twelve thousand horsemen, which he kept, some in the carriage-towns and some with the king at Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold as common as stones in Jerusalem, and cedar like the sycamore-trees of the lowland in number. 16 And Solomon's horses came out of Egypt; the king's traders got them from Kue at a price. 17 A war-carriage might be got from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: they got them at the same rate for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.

And Shelomoh says to all Yisra El - to governors of thousands and of hundreds and to judges and to every hierarch in all Yisra El, heads of the fathers: 3 and Shelomoh and all his congregation go to the bamah at Gibon; for the tent of the congregation of Elohim Mosheh the servant of Yah Veh worked in the wilderness is there: 4 but David ascended the ark of Elohim from Qiryath Arim when David prepared for it: for he spreads a tent for it at Yeru Shalem: 5 and he set the copper sacrifice altar Besal El the son of Uri the son of Hur worked at the face of the tabernacle of Yah Veh: and Shelomoh and the congregation seek unto it: 6 and there Shelomoh holocausts to the copper sacrifice altar at the face of Yah Veh at the tent of the congregation; and holocausts a thousand holocausts thereon. 7

I will give you riches, wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you; neither shall there any after you have the like." 13 So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem; and he reigned over Israel. 14 Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had one thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. 15 The king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance. 16 The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt and from Kue; the king's merchants purchased them from Kue. 17 They brought up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.

And Solomon and the congregation inquired of the Lord there. 6 And Solomon brought sacrifices there to the bronze altar that was before the Lord in the tabernacle, and offered upon it a thousand whole burnt offerings. 7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give you. 8 And Solomon said to God, You have dealt very mercifully with my father David, and have made me king in his place. 9 And now, O Lord God, let Your name be established upon David my father; for You have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Now give me wisdom and understanding, I pray, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who shall judge this, Your great people? 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked for great wealth, nor glory, nor the life of your enemies, and you have not asked for long life; but have asked for yourself wisdom and understanding, that you might judge My people, over whom I have made you king; 12 I give you this wisdom and understanding; and I will give you wealth, and riches, and glory, so that there shall not have been any like you among the kings before you, neither shall there be such after you. 13 And Solomon came from the high place that was in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of witness, and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon collected chariots and horsemen; and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; and he set them in the cities of chariots, and the people were with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem to be as stones, and cedars in Judea as sycamores in the plain for multitude. 16 And Solomon imported horses from Egypt, and the charge of the king's merchants for going was as follows, and they traded, 17 and went and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty pieces of silver. LXX2012(i) 1 And Solomon the son of David was established over his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and increased him exceedingly. 2 And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands, and to the captains of hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the rulers over Israel, even the heads of the families; 3 and Solomon and all the congregation went to the high place that was in Gabaon, where was God's tabernacle of witness, which Moses the servant of the Lord made in the wilderness. 4 But David had brought up the ark of God out of the city of Cariathiarim; for David had prepared a place for it, for he had pitched a tabernacle for it in Jerusalem. 5 And the brazen altar which Beseleel the son of Urias, the son of Or, had made, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation enquired at it. 6 And Solomon brought [victims] there to the brazen altar that was before the Lord in the tabernacle, and offered upon it a thousand whole burnt offerings. 7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, Ask what I shall give you. 8 And Solomon said to God, You have dealt very mercifully with my father David, and have made me king in his stead. 9 And now, O Lord God, let, I pray you, your name be established upon David my father; for you have made me king over a people numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Now give me wisdom and understanding, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who shall judge this your great people? 11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked great wealth, nor glory, nor the life of your enemies, and you have not asked long life; but have asked for yourself wisdom and understanding, that you might judge my people, over whom I have made you king: 12 I give you this wisdom and understanding; and I will give you wealth, and riches, and glory, so that there shall not have been [any] like you among the kings before you, neither shall there be such after you. 13 And Solomon came from the high place that was in Gabaon to Jerusalem, [from] before the tabernacle of witness, and reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon collected chariots and horsemen: and he had fourteen hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen: and he set them in the cities of chariots, and the people [were] with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem [to be] as stones, and cedars in Judea as sycamores in the plain for multitude. 16 And Solomon imported horses from Egypt, and the charge of the king's merchants for going [was as follows], and they traded, 17 and went and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [pieces] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty [pieces] of silver: and so they brought for all the kings of the Chettites, and for the kings of Syria by their means.
NSB(i) 1 Solomon, son of David, strengthened his position over the kingdom. Jehovah (YHWH), his God, was with him and made him very powerful. 2 Solomon spoke to all Israel. He spoke to the commanders of regiments and battalions, judges, every prince, and to the heads of Israel’s families. 3 Then Solomon and the entire assembly went to the place of worship in Gibeon because God’s Tent of Meeting was there. Jehovah’s servant Moses pitched the tent in the desert. 4 David already brought God’s Ark from Kiriath Jearim to a place he had prepared for it. He pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem. 5 The copper altar that Bezalel, son of Uri and grandson of Hur built was in front of Jehovah’s Tent. There Solomon and the assembly worshiped Jehovah. 6 Solomon went to the copper altar in front of the Tent of Meeting and in Jehovah’s presence sacrificed one thousand burnt offerings on it. 7 That night God appeared to Solomon. He said: »What do you want me to I give you?« 8 Solomon answered: »You always showed great love for my father David. Now you have allowed me to succeed him as king. 9 »O Jehovah my God, fulfill the promise you made to my father David. You have made me king over a people, who are so many that they cannot be counted. 10 »Please give me the wisdom and knowledge I need to rule over them. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?« 11 God replied to Solomon: »You have made the right choice. Instead of asking for wealth, treasure, fame or the death of your enemies or even for long life for yourself, you have asked for wisdom and knowledge so that you can rule my people, over whom I have made you king. 12 »For this reason I will give you wisdom and knowledge. And in addition, I will give you more wealth, treasure, and fame than any king has ever had before or will ever have again.« 13 So Solomon left the place of worship at Gibeon, where the Tent of Jehovah’s presence was, and returned to Jerusalem. There he ruled over Israel. 14 Solomon assembled a force of fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand cavalry horses. Some of them he kept in Jerusalem. The rest he stationed in various other cities. 15 During his reign silver and gold became as common in Jerusalem as stone, and cedar was as plentiful as ordinary sycamore in the foothills of Judah. 16 Solomon’s merchants bought his string of horses and chariots in the regions of Musri and Kue. 17 They imported each chariot from Egypt for fifteen pounds of silver and each horse for six ounces of silver. For the same price they obtained horses to export to all the Hittite and Syrian kings.
ISV(i) 1 As David's son Solomon consolidated his administration, the LORD his God was with him to make him very successful. 2 Solomon addressed the entire nation of Israel, including the commanders of thousands and hundreds, the judges, all the other leaders of Israel, and all of the heads of the ancestral houses of Israel. 3 Solomon, along with the whole assembly with him, met at the high place in Gibeon because that's where God's tent of meeting that the LORD's servant Moses had constructed in the wilderness was located. 4 Nevertheless, David had brought the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it, after having erected a tent for it in Jerusalem. 5 Also, the bronze altar that Uri's son Bezalel, Hur's grandson had erected, was in place in front of the LORD's tabernacle. Solomon and the assembly sought the LORD there. 6 Solomon approached the presence of the LORD at the bronze altar that had been placed at the tent of meeting and offered 1,000 burnt offerings on it. 7 That very night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask what I am to give you." 8 Solomon replied to God, "You showed great gracious love to my father David, and have established me as king in his place. 9 Now, LORD God, your promise to my father David is fulfilled, because you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Give me wisdom now, so I may go in and out among this people, because who can rule this great people that belongs to you? 11 God said to Solomon, "Since you had this in mind, to ask neither to focus on riches, wealth, honor, or the lives of those who hate you, nor have you requested a long life, but instead you have asked for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you may rule my people over whom I have established you as king, 12 wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. Furthermore, I will give you riches, wealth, and honor {— } such as none of the kings owned who lived before you and none after you shall ever attain their equal." 13 So Solomon returned from tent of meeting at the high place in Gibeon to Jerusalem, where he reigned over Israel. 14 Solomon amassed both chariots and horsemen: he owned 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horsemen, stationing them in armories and with the king in Jerusalem. 15 The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and made cedar trees as plentiful as sycamore trees that grow in the Shephelah. 16 Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue; the king's procurement officials obtained them from Kue at great price. 17 Chariots were imported from Egypt for 600 shekels each, and horses cost 150 shekels each, and then they exported them to all of the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of Aram.

And Solomon and the assembly sought it out. 6 And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before Yahweh, which was at the tent of assembly,* and he offered upon it a thousand burnt offerings. 7 On that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask what I shall give to you." 8 Then Solomon said to God, "You yourself have shown steadfast* loyal love to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, O Yahweh God, let your word to David my father be fulfilled, for you yourself have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. 10 Now, give to me wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can judge this, your great people?" 11 Then God said to Solomon, "Because this was with your heart and you did not ask for wealth, possessions, honor, and the lives of your enemies, and also did not ask for long life,* but have asked for wisdom and knowledge that you might judge my people over whom I have made you king, 12 wisdom and knowledge is given to you. And I will also give to you wealth, possessions, and honor, the like of which was not had by the kings who were before you, nor will there be the like after you." 13 So Solomon went from the high place which was at Gibeon to Jerusalem before the tent of assembly.* And he reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen. And he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placed them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem. 15 And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem like the stones. And he made cedar as abundant as the sycamore fig trees that were in the Shephelah. 16 And Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue. The traders of the king received them from Kue at a price. 17 They went up and exported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver and a horse for one hundred and fifty shekels. And these were likewise exported* to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.*
MLV(i) 1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom. And Jehovah his God was with him and magnified him exceedingly. 2 And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds and to the judges and to every ruler in all Israel, the heads of the fathers.
3 So Solomon and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon. For the tent of meeting of God was there, which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness. 4 But the ark of God David had brought up from Kiriath-jearim to the place that David had prepared for it. For he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Jehovah. And Solomon and the assembly sought to it. 6 And Solomon went up there to the brazen altar before Jehovah, which was at the tent of meeting and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, Ask what I will give you.
8 And Solomon said to God, You have shown great loving kindness to David my father and have made me king instead of him. 9 Now, O Jehovah God, let your promise to David my father be established. For you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people. For who can judge this your people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of those who hate you, neither yet have asked long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people over whom I have made you king, 12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who have been before you, neither will any after you have the like.
13 So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, to Jerusalem and he reigned over Israel. 14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen. And he had a thousand and four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 And the king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones and cedars he made to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
16 And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt. The king's merchants received them in herds, each herd at a price. 17 And they went after and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver and a horse for a hundred and fifty. And so they brought them out by their means for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.

7 H3915 In derselben Nacht H7200 aber erschien H430 Gott H8010 Salomo H559 und sprach H7592 zu ihm: Bitte H5414 , was soll ich dir geben ?
  8 H8010 Und Salomo H559 sprach H430 zu Gott H1419 : Du hast große H2617 Barmherzigkeit H1 an meinem Vater H1732 David H6213 getan H4427 und hast mich an seiner Statt zum König gemacht;
