KJV_Strongs(i)
H6430 Now the Philistines H622 gathered together [H8799]   H4264 their armies H4421 to battle H622 , and were gathered together [H8735]   H7755 at Shochoh H3063 , which belongeth to Judah H2583 , and pitched [H8799]   H7755 between Shochoh H5825 and Azekah H658 , in Ephesdammim.
H7586 And Saul H376 and the men H3478 of Israel H622 were gathered together [H8738]   H2583 , and pitched [H8799]   H6010 by the valley H425 of Elah H4421 , and set the battle H6186 in array [H8799]   H7125 against [H8800]   H6430 the Philistines.
H6430 And the Philistines H5975 stood [H8802]   H2022 on a mountain H3478 on the one side, and Israel H5975 stood [H8802]   H2022 on a mountain H1516 on the other side: and there was a valley between them.
H3318 And there went out [H8799]   H376 a champion H1143   H4264 out of the camp H6430 of the Philistines H8034 , named H1555 Goliath H1661 , of Gath H1363 , whose height H8337 was six H520 cubits H2239 and a span.
H3553 And he had an helmet H5178 of brass H7218 upon his head H3847 , and he was armed [H8803]   H8302 with a coat H7193 of mail H4948 ; and the weight H8302 of the coat H2568 was five H505 thousand H8255 shekels H5178 of brass.
H4697 And he had greaves H5178 of brass H7272 upon his legs H3591 , and a target H5178 of brass H3802 between his shoulders.
H6086 And the staff [H8675]   H2671   H2595 of his spear H707 was like a weaver's [H8802]   H4500 beam H2595 ; and his spear's H3852 head H8337 weighed six H3967 hundred H8255 shekels H1270 of iron H5375 : and one bearing [H8802]   H6793 a shield H1980 went [H8802]   H6440 before him.
H5975 And he stood [H8799]   H7121 and cried [H8799]   H4634 unto the armies H3478 of Israel H559 , and said [H8799]   H3318 unto them, Why are ye come out [H8799]   H4421 to set your battle H6186 in array [H8800]   H6430 ? am not I a Philistine H5650 , and ye servants H7586 to Saul H1262 ? choose [H8798]   H376 you a man H3381 for you, and let him come down [H8799]   to me.
H3201 If he be able [H8799]   H3898 to fight [H8736]   H5221 with me, and to kill [H8689]   H5650 me, then will we be your servants H3201 : but if I prevail [H8799]   H5221 against him, and kill [H8689]   H5650 him, then shall ye be our servants H5647 , and serve [H8804]   us.
H6430 And the Philistine H559 said [H8799]   H2778 , I defy [H8765]   H4634 the armies H3478 of Israel H3117 this day H5414 ; give [H8798]   H376 me a man H3898 , that we may fight [H8735]   H3162 together.
H7586 When Saul H3478 and all Israel H8085 heard [H8799]   H1697 those words H6430 of the Philistine H2865 , they were dismayed [H8735]   H3966 , and greatly H3372 afraid [H8799]  .
H1732 Now David H1121 was the son H376 of that Ephrathite H673   H1035 of Bethlehemjudah H3063   H8034 , whose name H3448 was Jesse H8083 ; and he had eight H1121 sons H376 : and the man H935 went [H8804]   H582 among men H2204 for an old man [H8804]   H3117 in the days H7586 of Saul.
H7969 And the three H1419 eldest H1121 sons H3448 of Jesse H3212 went [H8799]   H310 and followed H7586 Saul H4421 to the battle H8034 : and the names H7969 of his three H1121 sons H1980 that went [H8804]   H4421 to the battle H446 were Eliab H1060 the firstborn H4932 , and next H41 unto him Abinadab H7992 , and the third H8048 Shammah.
H1732 And David H6996 was the youngest H7969 : and the three H1419 eldest H1980 followed [H8804]   H310   H7586 Saul.
H1732 But David H1980 went [H8802]   H7725 and returned [H8802]   H7586 from Saul H7462 to feed [H8800]   H1 his father's H6629 sheep H1035 at Bethlehem.
H6430 And the Philistine H5066 drew near [H8799]   H7925 morning [H8687]   H6150 and evening [H8687]   H3320 , and presented [H8691]   H705 himself forty H3117 days.
H3448 And Jesse H559 said [H8799]   H1732 unto David H1121 his son H3947 , Take [H8798]   H251 now for thy brethren H374 an ephah H2088 of this H7039 parched H6235 corn, and these ten H3899 loaves H7323 , and run [H8685]   H4264 to the camp H251 to thy brethren;
H935 And carry [H8686]   H6235 these ten H2461 cheeses H2757   H8269 unto the captain H505 of their thousand H6485 , and look [H8799]   H251 how thy brethren H7965 fare H3947 , and take [H8799]   H6161 their pledge.
H7586 Now Saul H376 , and they, and all the men H3478 of Israel H6010 , were in the valley H425 of Elah H3898 , fighting [H8737]   H6430 with the Philistines.
H1732 And David H7925 rose up early [H8686]   H1242 in the morning H5203 , and left [H8799]   H6629 the sheep H8104 with a keeper [H8802]   H5375 , and took [H8799]   H3212 , and went [H8799]   H3448 , as Jesse H6680 had commanded [H8765]   H935 him; and he came [H8799]   H4570 to the trench H2428 , as the host H3318 was going forth [H8802]   H4634 to the fight H7321 , and shouted [H8689]   H4421 for the battle.
H3478 For Israel H6430 and the Philistines H6186 had put the battle in array [H8799]   H4634 , army H7125 against [H8800]   H4634 army.
H1732 And David H5203 left [H8799]   H3627 his carriage H3027 in the hand H8104 of the keeper [H8802]   H3627 of the carriage H7323 , and ran [H8799]   H4634 into the army H935 , and came [H8799]   H7592 and saluted [H8799]   H7965   H251 his brethren.
H1696 And as he talked [H8764]   H5927 with them, behold, there came up [H8802]   H376 the champion H1143   H6430 , the Philistine H1661 of Gath H1555 , Goliath H8034 by name H4634 , out of the armies [H8675]   H4630   H6430 of the Philistines H1696 , and spake [H8762]   H428 according to the same H1697 words H1732 : and David H8085 heard [H8799]   them .
H376 And all the men H3478 of Israel H7200 , when they saw [H8800]   H376 the man H5127 , fled [H8799]   H6440 from him H3966 , and were sore H3372 afraid [H8799]  .
H376 And the men H3478 of Israel H559 said [H8799]   H7200 , Have ye seen [H8804]   H376 this man H5927 that is come up [H8802]   H2778 ? surely to defy [H8763]   H3478 Israel H5927 is he come up [H8802]   H376 : and it shall be, that the man H5221 who killeth [H8686]   H4428 him, the king H6238 will enrich [H8686]   H1419 him with great H6239 riches H5414 , and will give [H8799]   H1323 him his daughter H6213 , and make [H8799]   H1 his father's H1004 house H2670 free H3478 in Israel.
H1732 And David H559 spake [H8799]   H582 to the men H5975 that stood [H8802]   H559 by him, saying [H8800]   H6213 , What shall be done [H8735]   H376 to the man H5221 that killeth [H8686]   H1975 this H6430 Philistine H5493 , and taketh away [H8689]   H2781 the reproach H3478 from Israel H6189 ? for who is this uncircumcised H6430 Philistine H2778 , that he should defy [H8765]   H4634 the armies H2416 of the living H430 God?
H5971 And the people H559 answered [H8799]   H1697 him after this manner H559 , saying [H8800]   H6213 , So shall it be done [H8735]   H376 to the man H5221 that killeth [H8686]   him.
H446 And Eliab H1419 his eldest H251 brother H8085 heard [H8799]   H1696 when he spake [H8763]   H582 unto the men H446 ; and Eliab's H639 anger H2734 was kindled [H8799]   H1732 against David H559 , and he said [H8799]   H3381 , Why camest thou down [H8804]   H5203 hither? and with whom hast thou left [H8804]   H2007 those H4592 few H6629 sheep H4057 in the wilderness H3045 ? I know [H8804]   H2087 thy pride H7455 , and the naughtiness H3824 of thine heart H3381 ; for thou art come down [H8804]   H7200 that thou mightest see [H8800]   H4421 the battle.
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H6213 , What have I now done [H8804]   H1697 ? Is there not a cause?
H5437 And he turned [H8735]   H681 from him H4136 toward H312 another H559 , and spake [H8799]   H1697 after the same manner H5971 : and the people H1697 answered H7725 him again [H8686]   H7223 after the former H1697 manner.
H1697 And when the words H8085 were heard [H8735]   H1732 which David H1696 spake [H8765]   H5046 , they rehearsed [H8686]   H6440 them before H7586 Saul H3947 : and he sent [H8799]   for him.
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H7586 to Saul H120 , Let no man's H3820 heart H5307 fail [H8799]   H5650 because of him; thy servant H3212 will go [H8799]   H3898 and fight [H8738]   H6430 with this Philistine.
H7586 And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H1732 to David H3201 , Thou art not able [H8799]   H3212 to go [H8800]   H6430 against this Philistine H3898 to fight [H8736]   H5288 with him: for thou art but a youth H376 , and he a man H4421 of war H5271 from his youth.
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H5650 , Thy servant H7462 kept [H8802]   H1 his father's H6629 sheep H935 , and there came [H8804]   H738 a lion H1677 , and a bear H5375 , and took [H8804]   H7716 a lamb [H8675]   H2089   H5739 out of the flock:
H3318 And I went out [H8804]   H310 after H5221 him, and smote [H8689]   H5337 him, and delivered [H8689]   H6310 it out of his mouth H6965 : and when he arose [H8799]   H2388 against me, I caught [H8689]   H2206 him by his beard H5221 , and smote [H8689]   H4191 him, and slew [H8689]   him.
H5650 Thy servant H5221 slew [H8689]   H738 both the lion H1677 and the bear H6189 : and this uncircumcised H6430 Philistine H259 shall be as one H2778 of them, seeing he hath defied [H8765]   H4634 the armies H2416 of the living H430 God.
H1732 David H559 said [H8799]   H3068 moreover, The LORD H5337 that delivered [H8689]   H3027 me out of the paw H738 of the lion H3027 , and out of the paw H1677 of the bear H5337 , he will deliver [H8686]   H3027 me out of the hand H6430 of this Philistine H7586 . And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H1732 unto David H3212 , Go [H8798]   H3068 , and the LORD be with thee.
H7586 And Saul H3847 armed [H8686]   H1732 David H4055 with his armour H5414 , and he put [H8804]   H6959 an helmet H5178 of brass H7218 upon his head H3847 ; also he armed [H8686]   H8302 him with a coat of mail.
H1732 And David H2296 girded [H8799]   H2719 his sword H4055 upon his armour H2974 , and he assayed [H8686]   H3212 to go [H8800]   H5254 ; for he had not proved [H8765]   H1732 it . And David H559 said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H3201 , I cannot [H8799]   H3212 go [H8800]   H5254 with these; for I have not proved [H8765]   H1732 them . And David H5493 put [H8686]   them off him.
H3947 And he took [H8799]   H4731 his staff H3027 in his hand H977 , and chose [H8799]   H2568 him five H2512 smooth H68 stones H5158 out of the brook H7760 , and put [H8799]   H7462 them in a shepherd's [H8802]   H3627 bag H3219 which he had, even in a scrip H7050 ; and his sling H3027 was in his hand H5066 : and he drew near [H8799]   H6430 to the Philistine.
H6430 And the Philistine H3212 came [H8799]   H1980 on [H8802]   H7131 and drew near H1732 unto David H376 ; and the man H5375 that bare [H8802]   H6793 the shield H6440 went before him.
H6430 And when the Philistine H5027 looked about [H8686]   H7200 , and saw [H8799]   H1732 David H959 , he disdained [H8799]   H5288 him: for he was but a youth H132 , and ruddy H3303 , and of a fair H4758 countenance.
H6430 And the Philistine H559 said [H8799]   H1732 unto David H3611 , Am I a dog H935 , that thou comest [H8802]   H4731 to me with staves H6430 ? And the Philistine H7043 cursed [H8762]   H1732 David H430 by his gods.
H6430 And the Philistine H559 said [H8799]   H1732 to David H3212 , Come [H8798]   H5414 to me, and I will give [H8799]   H1320 thy flesh H5775 unto the fowls H8064 of the air H929 , and to the beasts H7704 of the field.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H1732 David H6430 to the Philistine H935 , Thou comest [H8802]   H2719 to me with a sword H2595 , and with a spear H3591 , and with a shield H935 : but I come [H8802]   H8034 to thee in the name H3068 of the LORD H6635 of hosts H430 , the God H4634 of the armies H3478 of Israel H2778 , whom thou hast defied [H8765]  .
H3117 This day H3068 will the LORD H5462 deliver [H8762]   H3027 thee into mine hand H5221 ; and I will smite [H8689]   H5493 thee, and take [H8689]   H7218 thine head H5414 from thee; and I will give [H8804]   H6297 the carcases H4264 of the host H6430 of the Philistines H3117 this day H5775 unto the fowls H8064 of the air H2416 , and to the wild beasts H776 of the earth H776 ; that all the earth H3045 may know [H8799]   H3426 that there is H430 a God H3478 in Israel.
H6951 And all this assembly H3045 shall know [H8799]   H3068 that the LORD H3467 saveth [H8686]   H2719 not with sword H2595 and spear H4421 : for the battle H3068 is the LORD'S H5414 , and he will give [H8804]   H3027 you into our hands.
H6430 And it came to pass, when the Philistine H6965 arose [H8804]   H3212 , and came [H8799]   H7126 and drew nigh [H8799]   H7125 to meet [H8800]   H1732 David H1732 , that David H4116 hasted [H8762]   H7323 , and ran [H8799]   H4634 toward the army H7125 to meet [H8800]   H6430 the Philistine.
H1732 And David H7971 put [H8799]   H3027 his hand H3627 in his bag H3947 , and took [H8799]   H68 thence a stone H7049 , and slang [H8762]   H5221 it, and smote [H8686]   H6430 the Philistine H4696 in his forehead H68 , that the stone H2883 sunk [H8799]   H4696 into his forehead H5307 ; and he fell [H8799]   H6440 upon his face H776 to the earth.
H1732 So David H2388 prevailed [H8799]   H4480 over H6430 the Philistine H7050 with a sling H68 and with a stone H5221 , and smote [H8686]   H6430 the Philistine H4191 , and slew [H8686]   H2719 him; but there was no sword H3027 in the hand H1732 of David.
H1732 Therefore David H7323 ran [H8799]   H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H6430 upon the Philistine H3947 , and took [H8799]   H2719 his sword H8025 , and drew [H8799]   H8593 it out of the sheath H4191 thereof, and slew [H8787]   H3772 him, and cut off [H8799]   H7218 his head H6430 therewith. And when the Philistines H7200 saw [H8799]   H1368 their champion H4191 was dead [H8804]   H5127 , they fled [H8799]  .
H582 And the men H3478 of Israel H3063 and of Judah H6965 arose [H8799]   H7321 , and shouted [H8686]   H7291 , and pursued [H8799]   H6430 the Philistines H935 , until thou come [H8800]   H1516 to the valley H8179 , and to the gates H6138 of Ekron H2491 . And the wounded H6430 of the Philistines H5307 fell down [H8799]   H1870 by the way H8189 to Shaaraim H1661 , even unto Gath H6138 , and unto Ekron.
H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H7725 returned [H8799]   H1814 from chasing [H8800]   H310 after H6430 the Philistines H8155 , and they spoiled [H8799]   H4264 their tents.
H1732 And David H3947 took [H8799]   H7218 the head H6430 of the Philistine H935 , and brought [H8686]   H3389 it to Jerusalem H7760 ; but he put [H8804]   H3627 his armour H168 in his tent.
H7586 And when Saul H7200 saw [H8800]   H1732 David H3318 go forth [H8802]   H7125 against [H8800]   H6430 the Philistine H559 , he said [H8804]   H74 unto Abner H8269 , the captain H6635 of the host H74 , Abner H1121 , whose son H5288 is this youth H74 ? And Abner H559 said [H8799]   H5315 , As thy soul H2416 liveth H4428 , O king H518 , I cannot H3045 tell [H8804]  .
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H7592 , Enquire [H8798]   H1121 thou whose son H5958 the stripling is .

KJV(i) 1 Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephesdammim. 2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines. 3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. 4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. 5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. 6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. 7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. 8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. 9 If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us. 10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. 11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid. 12 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehemjudah, whose name was Jesse; and he had eight sons: and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul. 13 And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle: and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next unto him Abinadab, and the third Shammah. 14 And David was the youngest: and the three eldest followed Saul. 15 But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem. 16 And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days. 17 And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp of thy brethren; 18 And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge. 19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines. 20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle. 21 For Israel and the Philistines had put the battle in array, army against army. 22 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren. 23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them. 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. 25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. 26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? 27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him. 28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. 29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? 30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. 31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him. 32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee. 38 And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 39 And David girded his sword upon his armor, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. 41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him. 42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. 43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field. 45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands. 48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. 50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. 51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled. 52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron. 53 And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents. 54 And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armor in his tent. 55 And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell. 56 And the king said, Inquire thou whose son the stripling is. 57 And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand. 58 And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.
