1 H1697 The word H3414 which came to Jeremiah H3068 from the LORD, H4428 when king H6667 Zedekiah H7971 [H8800] sent H6583 to him Pashur H1121 the son H4441 of Melchiah, H6846 and Zephaniah H1121 the son H4641 of Maaseiah H3548 the priest, H559 [H8800] saying,
2 H1875 [H8798] Enquire, H3068 I pray thee, of the LORD H1157 for us; H5019 for Nebuchadnezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon H3898 [H8737] maketh war H3068 against us; it may be that the LORD H6213 [H8799] will deal H6381 [H8737] with us according to all his wondrous works, H5927 [H8799] that he may go up from us.
3 H559 [H8799] Then said H3414 Jeremiah H559 [H8799] to them, Thus shall ye say H6667 to Zedekiah:
4 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel; H5437 [H8688] Behold, I will turn back H3627 the weapons H4421 of war H3027 that are in your hands, H3898 [H8737] with which ye fight H4428 against the king H894 of Babylon, H3778 and against the Chaldeans, H6696 [H8802] who besiege H2351 you outside H2346 the walls, H622 [H8804] and I will assemble H8432 them into the midst H5892 of this city.
5 H3898 [H8738] And I myself will fight H5186 [H8803] against you with an outstretched H3027 hand H2389 and with a strong H2220 arm, H639 even in anger, H2534 and in hot anger, H1419 and in great H7110 splintering rage.
  6 H5221 [H8689] And I will smite H3427 [H8802] the inhabitants H5892 of this city, H120 both man H929 and beast: H4191 [H8799] they shall die H1419 by a great H1698 pestilence.
7 H310 And afterward, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD, H5414 [H8799] I will give H6667 Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H5650 and his servants, H5971 and the people, H7604 [H8737] and such as are left H5892 in this city H1698 from the pestilence, H2719 from the sword, H7458 and from the famine, H3027 into the hand H5019 of Nebuchadnezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon, H3027 and into the hand H341 [H8802] of their enemies, H3027 and into the hand H1245 [H8764] of those that seek H5315 their life: H5221 [H8689] and he shall smite H6310 them with the edge H2719 of the sword; H2347 [H8799] he shall not spare H2550 [H8799] them, neither have commiseration, H7355 [H8762] nor fondle.
8 H5971 And to this people H559 [H8799] thou shalt say, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD; H5414 [H8802] Behold, I set H6440 at the face of H1870 you the way H2416 of life, H1870 and the way H4194 of death.
9 H3427 [H8802] He that abideth H5892 in this city H4191 [H8799] shall die H2719 by the sword, H7458 and by the famine, H1698 and by the pestilence: H3318 [H8802] but he that goeth out, H5307 [H8804] and falleth H3778 to the Chaldeans H6696 [H8802] that besiege H2421 H2421 [H8804] you, he shall live, H5315 and his life H7998 shall be to him for a prize.
10 H7760 [H8804] For I have set H6440 my face H5892 against this city H7451 for evil, H2896 and not for good, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD: H5414 [H8735] it shall be given H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon, H8313 [H8804] and he shall burn H784 it with fire.

YLT(i) 1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the king Zedekiah's sending unto him Pashhur son of Malchiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, saying, 2 `Inquire, we pray thee, for us at Jehovah, for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath fought against us; perhaps Jehovah doth deal with us according to all His wonders, and doth cause him to go up from off us.' 3 And Jeremiah saith unto them, `Thus do ye say unto Zedekiah, 4 Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Lo, I am turning round the weapons of battle That are in your hand, With which ye do fight the king of Babylon, And the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against you, At the outside of the wall, And I have gathered them into the midst of this city, 5 And I—I have fought against you, With a stretched-out hand, and with a strong arm, And in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath, 6 And I have smitten the inhabitants of this city, Both man and beast, By a great pestilence do they die. 7 And after this—an affirmation of Jehovah, I give Zedekiah king of Judah, And his servants, and the people, And those left in this city, From the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, Into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, And into the hand of their enemies, And into the hand of those seeking their life, And he hath smitten them by the mouth of the sword, He hath no pity on them, Nor doth he spare, nor hath he mercy.
8 And unto this people thou dost say, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am setting before you the way of life, And the way of death! 9 Whoso is abiding in this city—dieth, By sword, and by famine, and by pestilence, And whoso is going forth, And hath fallen unto the Chaldeans, Who are laying siege against you—liveth, And his life hath been to him for a spoil. 10 For I have set My face against this city for evil, And not for good—an affirmation of Jehovah. Into the hand of the king of Babylon it is given, And he hath burned it with fire.

THE MESSAGE OF YIRME YAH TO SIDQI YAH
So be the word to Yirme Yah from Yah Veh when sovereign Sidqi Yah sends Pashchur the son of Malki Yah and Sephan Yah the son of Maase Yah the priest to him, saying, 2 Enquire, I beseech you, of Yah Veh for us; for Nebukadnets Tsar sovereign of Babel fights us: perhaps Yah Veh works with us according to all his marvellous works, and ascends him from us. 3 Then says Yirme Yah to them, Say thus to Sidqi Yah: 4 Thus says Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El: Behold, I turn back the vessels of war in your hands with which you fight the sovereign of Babel and the Kesediym who besiege you outside the walls; and I gather them midst this city: 5 and I - I fight you with a spread hand and with a strong arm - in wrath and in fury and in great rage: 6 and I smite the settlers of this city - both human and animal that they die of a great pestilence. 7 And afterward - an oracle of Yah Veh I give Sidqi Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah and his servants and the people and such as survive in this city from the pestilence and from the sword and from the famine into the hand of Nebukadnets Tsar sovereign of Babel - and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of them who seek their soul: and he smites them with the mouth of the sword; he neither spares them - neither spares nor mercies. 8 And to this people you say, Thus says Yah Veh; Behold, I give at your face the way of life and the way of death. 9 He who settles in this city dies by the sword and by the famine and by the pestilence: and he who goes out and falls to the Kesediym who besiege you, he lives: and his soul becomes to him for a spoil. 10 For I set my face against this city for evil and not for good; - an oracle of Yah Veh: - given into the hand of the sovereign of Babel and he burns it with fire.

9 H3427 He who remains H5892 in this city H4191 shall die H2719 by the sword, H7458 and by the famine, H1698 and by the pestilence; H3318 but he who goes out, H5307 and passes H3778 over to the Chaldeans H6696 who besiege H2421 you, he shall live, H5315 and his life H7998 shall be to him for a prey.
10 H7760 For I have set H6440 my face H5892 on this city H7451 for evil, H2896 and not for good, H5002 says H3068 Yahweh: H5414 it shall be given H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon, H8313 and he shall burn H784 it with fire.

The king said to Jeremiah: 2 »Please inquire of Jehovah on our behalf. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is warring against us. Perhaps Jehovah will deal with us with all his wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.« 3 Jeremiah responded to them: »Say the following Zedekiah: 4 ‘Jehovah the God of Israel says: »Behold, I am about to turn back the weapons of war you control. The weapons you use to make war against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the wall. I will gather them into the center of this city. 5 ‘»I will war against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm (with my great power). I will extend my anger, wrath and great indignation. 6 ‘»I will also strike down the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. They will die of a great pestilence.«’ 7 »‘»Afterwards,« declares Jehovah: »I will hand over Judah's King Zedekiah, his officials, the people, and everyone else in this city who survives the plague, war, and famine. They will be handed over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon and to their enemies who want to kill them. Nebuchadnezzar will kill them with swords. He will not spare them, show them compassion, or care for them.«’ 8 »Also say to this people, ‘Jehovah says: »Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 »‘He who dwells in this city will die by the sword and by famine and by pestilence. He who goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live. He will have his own life as booty.«’ 10 »‘»For I have set my face against this city for harm and not for good, declares Jehovah. ISV(i) 1 Zedekiah’s Request for a MiracleThe message that came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Malchijah’s son Pashhur and Maaseiah’s son Zephaniah the priest: 2 Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is fighting against us. Perhaps the LORD will do some of his miraculous acts for us, and Nebuchadnezzar will depart from us.”
3 Jeremiah told them, “This is what you are to say to Zedekiah, 4 ‘This is what the LORD God of Israel says: “I’m about to turn against you the weapons of war that are in your hands and with which you are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the walls. I’ll gather them into the center of this city. 5 Because of my anger, wrath, and great fury, I’ll fight against you myself with an outstretched hand and a strong arm. 6 I’ll strike down the residents of this city, both people and animals, and they’ll die from a terrible plague. 7 Afterwards,” declares the LORD, “I’ll give King Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and the people—those who are left in this city from the plague, the sword, and the famine—into the control of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, right into the hand of their enemies and the hand of those who want to kill them. He’ll execute them with swords and won’t pity them. He won’t spare them, nor will he have compassion on them.”’
8 “You are to say to this people, ‘This is what the LORD says: “I’m about to set before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, by famine, and by the plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live. He will save his life as a spoil of war. 10 Indeed, I’m firmly decided—I’m sending calamity to this city, not good,” declares the LORD. “It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will set it on fire.”’

They will die in a terrible plague.’ 7 ‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand over Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who survive the plague and sword and famine, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not spare them or show pity or compassion.’ 8 Furthermore, you are to tell this people that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and famine and plague, but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a spoil of war. 10 For I have set My face against this city to bring disaster and not good, declares the LORD. It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, who will destroy it with fire.’

MLV(i) 1 The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2 I beseech you, inquire of Jehovah on our behalf. For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
3 Then Jeremiah said to them, Thus you* will say to Zedekiah: 4 Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel: Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your* hands, with which you* fight against the king of Babylon and against the Chaldeans who besiege you*, outside the walls. And I will gather them into the midst of this city.
5 And I myself will fight against you* with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and in wrath and in great indignation. 6 And I will kill* the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. They will die of a great pestilence.
7 And afterward, says Jehovah, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life and he will kill* them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them, nor have pity, nor have mercy.
8 And you will say to this people, Jehovah says thus: Behold, I set before you* the way of life and the way of death. 9 He who abides in this city will die by the sword and by the famine and by the pestilence. But he who goes out and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you*, he will live and his life will be to him for a prey.
10 For I have set my face upon this city for evil and not for good, says Jehovah. It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.

Croatian(i) 1 Riječ koju Jahve uputi Jeremiji kad kralj Sidkija posla k njemu Pašhura, sina Malkijina, i svećenika Sefaniju, sina Maasejina, s porukom: 2 "Hajde, upitaj Jahvu za nas, jer je Nabukodonozor, kralj babilonski, zavojštio na nas; možda će Jahve opet učiniti s nama čudo, pa će se neprijatelj povući pred nama." 3 Jeremija im reče: "Ovako recite Sidkiji: 4 Ovako govori Jahve, Bog Izraelov: 'Povući ću oružje koje je u vašim rukama, kojim se borite protiv kralja babilonskoga i Kaldejaca što vas napadaju izvan zidina, i skupiti ga usred ovoga grada. 5 I sam ću se boriti protiv vas ispruženom rukom i snažnom mišicom, u srdžbi i gnjevu i velikoj jarosti. 6 I strašnom kugom udarit ću stanovnike ovoga grada, ljude i životinje, i pomrijet će. 7 Poslije toga ću - riječ je Jahvina - Sidkiju, kralja judejskoga, i njegove sluge i narod, i sve one koji preostadoše u tom gradu nakon pošasti, mača i gladi, predati u ruke Nabukodonozora, kralja babilonskoga, u ruke njihovih neprijatelja i u ruke onih koji im rade o glavi; on će ih sasjeći oštricom mača bez samilosti, bez milosrđa i bez smilovanja.' 8 A ovom narodu reci: 'Ovako govori Jahve: Evo stavljam pred vas put života i put smrti.
5 Bojovati zajisté budu já proti vám rukou vztaženou a ramenem silným, a to v hněvě a v rozpálení i v prchlivosti veliké.

Haitian(i) 1 Wa Sedesyas te voye Pachou, pitit gason Malkija a, ak Sefanya, pitit gason Mesaja a, prèt la, bò kote Jeremi pou mande l' yon sèvis. 2 Yo di l': -Tanpri, pale ak Seyè a pou nou, paske Nèbikadneza, wa Babilòn lan, ap fè nou lagè. Ou pa janm konnen! Seyè a ka fè ankò pou nou yonn nan mirak li yo pou fòse Nèbikadneza vire do l' al fè wout li. 3 Lè sa a, Seyè a pale ak Jeremi. Y'ap touye nou anba kout nepe. Yo p'ap kite yonn nan nou chape. Yo p'ap gen pitye pou pesonn, yo p'ap pran priyè. 8 Lèfini, w'a di pèp la men sa mwen menm, Seyè a, mwen di: Mwen pral mande nou pou nou chwazi ant lavi ak lanmò. 9 Tout moun ki va rete nan lavil la pral mouri nan lagè, osinon anba grangou, ou ankò maladi pral fini ak yo. Men, tout moun ki va soti al pote tèt yo bay moun Kalde k'ap sènen nou yo p'ap mouri. Y'a sove lavi yo nan batay la. 10 Wi, mwen pral fè kichòy pou lavil sa a, men se va pou malè yo, pa pou byen yo. Se mwen menm Seyè a k'ap pale. Mwen pral lage l' nan men wa Babilòn lan.
