Luke 14 And it came to pass, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.

1 G2532 And G1722 it came to pass, G846 when he G2064 went G1519 into G3624 the house G5100 of one G758 of the rulers G5330 of the Pharisees G4521 on a sabbath G5315 to eat G740 bread, G2532 that G846 they G2258 were G3906 watching G846 him.

2 G2532 And G2400 behold, G2258 there was G1715 before G846 him G5100 a certain G444 man G5203 that had the dropsy.

3 G2532 And G2424 Jesus G611 answering G2036 spake G4314 unto G3544 the lawyers G2532 and G5330 Pharisees, G1487 saying, G1832 Is it lawful G2323 to heal G4521 on the sabbath, or not?

4 G1161 But G2270 they held their peace. G2532 And G1949 he took G2390 him, and healed G846 him, G2532 and G630 let him go.

5 G2532 And G611 he said G4314 unto G846 them, G2036 G5101 Which G5216 of you G1706 shall have G3688 an ass G2228 or G1016 an ox G1706 fallen G1519 into G5421 a well, G2532 and G3756 will not G2112 straightway G385 draw G846 him G385 up G1722 on G4521 a sabbath G2250 day?

6 G2532 And G2480 they could G3756 not G470 answer G846 G470 again G4314 unto G5023 these things.

7 G1161 And G3004 he spake G3850 a parable G4314 unto G3588 those that G2564 were bidden, G1907 when he marked G4459 how G1586 they chose out G4411 the chief seats; G3004 saying G4314 unto G846 them,

8 G3752 When G2564 thou art bidden G5259 of G5100 any G1519 man to G1062 a marriage G2625 feast, sit G3361 not G2625 down G1519 in G4411 the chief seat; G3379 lest G1784 haply a more honorable man G4675 than thou G5600 be G2564 bidden G5259 of G846 him,

9 G2532 and G3588 he G2564 that bade G4571 thee G2532 and G846 him G2064 shall come G2046 and say G4671 to thee, G1325 Give G5129 this man G5117 place; G2532 and G5119 then G756 thou G756 shalt begin G3326 with G152 shame G2722 to take G2078 the lowest G5117 place.

10 G235 But G3752 when G2564 thou art bidden, G4198 go G377 and sit down G1519 in G2078 the lowest G5117 place; G2443 that G3752 when G2564 he that hath bidden G4571 thee G2064 cometh, G2036 he may say G4671 to thee, G5384 Friend, G4320 go up G511 higher: G5119 then G2071 shalt G4671 thou G1391 have glory G1799 in the presence G3588 of all that G4873 sit at meat with G4671 thee.

11 G3754 For G3956 every one G5312 that exalteth G1438 himself G5013 shall be humbled; G2532 and G3588 he that G5013 humbleth G1438 himself G5312 shall be exalted.

12 G2532 And G3004 he said G846 to him G2532 also G3588 that G2564 had bidden him, G3752 When G4160 thou makest G712 a dinner G2228 or G1173 a supper, G5455 call G3361 not G4675 thy G5384 friends, G3366 nor G4675 thy G80 brethren, G3366 nor G4675 thy G4773 kinsmen, G3366 nor G4145 rich G1069 neighbors; G3379 lest G846 haply they G2532 also G479 bid G4571 thee G479 again, G2532 and G468 a recompense G1096 be made G4671 thee.

13 G235 But G3752 when G4160 thou makest G1403 a feast, G2564 bid G4434 the poor, G376 the maimed, G5560 the lame, G5185 the blind:

14 G2532 and G4671 thou G2071 shalt be G3107 blessed; G3754 because G2192 they have G3756 not G467 wherewith to recompense G4671 thee: G1063 for G467 thou shalt be recompensed G1722 in G386 the resurrection G1342 of the just.

15 G1161 And G5100 when one G3588 of them that G4873 sat at meat with him G191 heard G5023 these things, G2036 he said G846 unto him, G3107 Blessed G3739 is he that G5315 shall eat G740 bread G1722 in G932 the kingdom G2316 of God.

16 G1161 But G2036 he G846 said unto him, G5100 A certain G444 man G4160 made G3173 a great G1173 supper; G2532 and G2564 he bade G4183 many:

17 G2532 and G649 he sent G846 forth his G1401 servant G1173 at supper G5610 time G2036 to say G3588 to them that G2564 were bidden, G2064 Come; G3754 for G3956 all things G2076 are G2235 now G2092 ready.

18 G2532 And G3956 they all G575 with G1520 one G756 consent began G3868 to make excuse. G4413 The first G2036 said G846 unto him, G59 I have bought G68 a field, G2532 and G2192 I must G318 needs G1831 go G2532 out and G1492 see G846 it; G2065 I pray G4571 thee G2192 have G3165 me G3868 excused.

19 G2532 And G2087 another G2036 said, G59 I have bought G4002 five G2201 yoke G1016 of oxen, G2532 and G4198 I go G1381 to prove G846 them; G2065 I pray G4571 thee G2192 have G3165 me G3868 excused.

20 G2532 And G2087 another G2036 said, G1060 I have married G1135 a wife, G2532 and G1223 therefore G5124 G1410 I cannot G3756 G2064 come.

21 G2532 And G1565 the G1401 servant G3854 came, G518 and told G846 his G2962 lord G5023 these things. G5119 Then G3617 the master of the house G3710 being angry G2036 said G846 to his G1401 servant, G1831 Go out G5030 quickly G1519 into G4113 the streets G2532 and G4505 lanes G4172 of the city, G2532 and G1521 bring in G5602 hither G4434 the poor G2532 and G376 maimed G2532 and G5185 blind G2532 and G5560 lame.

22 G2532 And G1401 the servant G2036 said, G2962 Lord, G5613 what thou didst G2004 command G1096 is done, G2532 and G2089 yet G2076 there is G5117 room.

23 G2532 And G2962 the lord G2036 said G4314 unto G1401 the servant, G1831 Go out G1519 into G3598 the highways G2532 and G5418 hedges, G2532 and G315 constrain G1525 them to come in, G2443 that G3450 my G3624 house G1072 may be filled.

24 G1063 For G3004 I say G5213 unto you, G3754 that G3762 none G1565 of those G435 men G3588 that G2564 were bidden G1089 shall taste G3450 of my G1173 supper.

25 G1161 Now G4848 there went G4848 with G846 him G4183 great G3793 multitudes: G2532 and G4762 he turned, G2036 and said G4314 unto G846 them,

26 G1487 If G5100 any G2064 man cometh G4314 unto G3165 me, G2532 and G3404 hateth G3756 not G1438 his G3962 own father, G2532 and G3384 mother, G2532 and G1135 wife, G2532 and G5043 children, G2532 and G80 brethren, G2532 and G79 sisters, G2089 yea, G1161 and G1438 his own G5590 life G3756 also, G1410 he cannot G1511 be G3450 my G3101 disciple.

27 G2532 G3748 Whosoever G941 doth G3756 not G941 bear G846 his G4716 own cross, G2532 and G2064 come G3694 after G3756 me, G1410 cannot G1511 be G3450 my G3101 disciple.

28 G1063 For G5101 which G1537 of G5216 you, G2309 desiring G4314 to G3618 build G4444 a tower, G3780 doth not G4412 first G2523 sit G2523 down G5585 and count G1160 the cost, G1487 whether G2192 he have G535 wherewith to complete it?

29 G3379 Lest G2443 haply, G846 when he G5087 hath laid G2310 a foundation, G2532 and G2480 is G3361 not G2480 able G1615 to finish, G3956 all G2334 that behold G756 begin G1702 to mock G846 him,

30 G3754 saying, G3778 This G444 man G756 began G3618 to build, G2532 and G2480 was G3756 not G2480 able G1615 to finish.

31 G2228 Or G5101 what G935 king, G4198 as he goeth G4820 to encounter G2087 another G935 king G1519 in G4171 war, G3780 will not G2523 sit G2523 down G4412 first G1011 and take counsel G1487 whether G2076 he is G1415 able G1722 with G1176 ten G5505 thousand G846 to meet him G3588 that G2064 cometh G1909 against G846 him G3326 with G1501 twenty G5505 thousand?

32 G1161 Or G3361 else, G846 while the other G5607 is G2089 yet G4206 a great way off, G649 he sendeth G4242 an ambassage, G2065 and asketh conditions G4314 of G1515 peace.

33 G3767 So G3779 therefore G3956 whosoever he G1537 be of G5216 you G3739 that G657 renounceth G3756 not G3956 all G3756 that he hath, G1410 he cannot G1511 be G3450 my G3101 disciple.

34 G217 Salt G2570 therefore is good: G1161 but G1437 if G217 even the salt G3471 have lost its savor, G5101 wherewith G1722 G741 shall it be seasoned?

35 G2076 It is G2111 fit G3777 neither G1519 for G1093 the land G3777 nor G1519 for G2874 the dunghill: G906 men cast G846 it G1854 out. G3588 He that G2192 hath G3775 ears G191 to hear, G191 let him hear.
