Deuteronomy 1:1-46 These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on the east side of Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Zuph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

1 H1697 These are the words H4872 which Moses H1696 [H8765] spoke H3478 to all Israel H5676 on the east side H3383 of Jordan H4057 in the wilderness, H6160 in the plain H4136 opposite H5489 Zuph, H6290 between Paran, H8603 and Tophel, H3837 and Laban, H2698 and Hazeroth, H1774 and Dizahab.

2 H259 H6240 (There are eleven H3117 days' H2722 journey from Horeb H1870 by the way H2022 of mount H8165 Seir H6947 to Kadeshbarnea.)

3 H705 And it came to pass in the fortieth H8141 year, H6249 H6240 in the eleventh H2320 month, H259 on the first H2320 day of the month, H4872 that Moses H1696 [H8765] spoke H1121 to the sons H3478 of Israel, H3068 according to all that the LORD H6680 [H8765] had given him in commandment to them;

4 H310 After H5221 [H8687] he had slain H5511 Sihon H4428 the king H567 of the Amorites, H3427 [H8802] who dwelt H2809 in Heshbon, H5747 and Og H4428 the king H1316 of Bashan, H3427 [H8802] who dwelt H6252 at Astaroth H154 in Edrei:

5 H5676 On the east side H3383 of Jordan, H776 in the land H4124 of Moab, H2974 [H8689] began H4872 Moses H874 [H8763] to declare H8451 this law, H559 [H8800] saying,

6 H3068 The LORD H430 our God H1696 [H8765] spoke H2722 to us in Horeb, H559 [H8800] saying, H3427 [H8800] Ye have dwelt H7227 long enough H2022 in this mount:

7 H6437 [H8798] Turn, H5265 [H8798] and take your journey, H935 [H8798] and go H2022 to the mount H567 of the Amorites, H7934 and to all the places near H6160 to it, in the plain, H2022 on the mountains, H8219 and in the vale, H5045 and in the south, H3220 and by the sea H2348 side, H776 to the land H3669 of the Canaanites, H3844 and to Lebanon, H1419 to the great H5104 river, H5104 the river H6578 Euphrates.

8 H7200 [H8798] Behold, H5414 [H8804] I have set H776 the land H6440 at the face of H935 [H8798] you: go H3423 [H8798] in and possess H776 the land H3068 which the LORD H7650 [H8738] swore H1 to your fathers, H85 Abraham, H3327 Isaac, H3290 and Jacob, H5414 [H8800] to give H2233 to them and to their seed H310 after them.

9 H559 [H8799] And I spoke H6256 to you at that time, H559 [H8800] saying, H3201 [H8799] I am not able H5375 [H8800] to bear H905 you myself alone:

10 H3068 The LORD H430 your God H7235 [H8689] hath multiplied H3117 you, and, behold, ye are this day H3556 as the stars H8064 of heaven H7230 for abundance.

11 H3068 (The LORD H430 God H1 of your fathers H505 make you a thousand H6471 times H3254 [H8686] so many more as H1288 [H8762] ye are, and bless H1696 [H8765] you, as he hath promised you!)

12 H349 How H5375 [H8799] can I alone bear H2960 your weight, H4853 and your burden, H7379 and your strife?

13 H3051 [H8798] Take H2450 for yourselves wise H582 men, H995 [H8737] and understanding, H3045 [H8803] and known H7626 among your tribes, H7760 [H8799] and I will make H7218 them rulers over you.

14 H6030 [H8799] And ye answered H559 [H8799] me, and said, H1697 The thing H1696 [H8765] which thou hast spoken H2896 is good H6213 [H8800] for us to do.

15 H3947 [H8799] So I took H7218 the heads H7626 of your tribes, H2450 wise H582 men, H3045 [H8803] and known, H5414 [H8799] and made H7218 them heads H8269 over you, captains H505 over thousands, H8269 and captains H3967 over hundreds, H8269 and captains H2572 over fifties, H8269 and captains H6235 over tens, H7860 [H8802] and officers H7626 among your tribes.

16 H6680 [H8762] And I charged H8199 [H8802] your judges H6256 at that time, H559 [H8800] saying, H8085 [H8800] Hear H251 the causes between your brethren, H8199 [H8804] and judge H6664 righteously H376 between every man H251 and his brother, H1616 and the guest that is with him.

17 H5234 [H8686] Ye shall not respect H6440 persons H4941 in judgment; H8085 [H8799] but ye shall hear H6996 the small H1419 as well as the great; H1481 [H8799] ye shall not be afraid H6440 of the face H376 of man; H4941 for the judgment H430 is God's: H1697 and the cause H7185 [H8799] that is too hard H7126 [H8686] for you, bring H8085 [H8804] to me, and I will hear it.

18 H6680 [H8762] And I commanded H6256 you at that time H1697 all the things H6213 [H8799] which ye should do.

19 H5265 [H8799] And when we departed H2722 from Horeb, H3212 [H8799] we went through H1419 all that great H3372 [H8737] and terrible H4057 wilderness, H7200 [H8804] which ye saw H1870 by the way H2022 of the mountain H567 of the Amorites, H3068 as the LORD H430 our God H6680 [H8765] commanded H935 [H8799] us; and we came H6947 to Kadeshbarnea.

20 H559 [H8799] And I said H935 [H8804] to you, Ye have come H2022 to the mountain H567 of the Amorites, H3068 which the LORD H430 our God H5414 [H8802] doth give to us.

21 H7200 [H8798] Behold, H3068 the LORD H430 thy God H5414 [H8804] hath set H776 the land H6440 at the face of H5927 [H8798] thee: go up H3423 [H8798] and possess H3068 it, as the LORD H430 God H1 of thy fathers H1696 [H8765] hath said H3372 [H8799] to thee; fear H2865 [H8735] not, neither be discouraged.

22 H7126 [H8799] And ye came near H559 [H8799] to me each one of you, and said, H7971 [H8799] We will send H582 men H6440 at the face of H2658 [H8799] us, and they shall search us out H776 the land H7725 0 for us, and bring H1697 us word H7725 [H8686] again H1870 by what way H5927 [H8799] we must go up, H5892 and into what cities H935 [H8799] we shall come.

23 H1697 And the saying H3190 H5869 [H8799] pleased me well: H3947 [H8799] and I took H8147 H6240 twelve H582 men H259 of you, one H376 H7626 of a tribe:

24 H6437 [H8799] And they turned H5927 [H8799] and went up H2022 to the mountain, H935 [H8799] and came H5158 to the valley H812 of Eshcol, H7270 [H8762] and searched it out.

25 H3947 [H8799] And they took H6529 of the fruit H776 of the land H3027 in their hands, H3381 [H8686] and brought it down H7725 0 to us, and brought H1697 us word H7725 [H8686] again, H559 [H8799] and said, H2896 It is a good H776 land H3068 which the LORD H430 our God H5414 [H8802] doth give us.

26 H14 [H8804] However ye would H5927 [H8800] not go up, H4784 [H8686] but rebelled H6310 against the mouth H3068 of the LORD H430 your God:

27 H7279 [H8735] And ye murmured H168 in your tents, H559 [H8799] and said, H3068 Because the LORD H8135 hated H3318 [H8689] us, he hath brought us forth H776 from the land H4714 of Egypt, H5414 [H8800] to give H3027 us into the hand H567 of the Amorites, H8045 [H8687] to desolate us.

28 H5927 [H8802] Where can we go up? H251 our brethren H4549 [H8689] have discouraged H3824 our heart, H559 [H8800] saying, H5971 The people H1419 are greater H7311 [H8802] and taller H5892 than we; the cities H1419 are great H1219 [H8803] and walled up H8064 to heaven; H7200 [H8804] and moreover we have seen H1121 the sons H6062 of the Anakims there.

29 H559 [H8799] Then I said H6206 [H8799] to you, Dread H3372 [H8799] not, neither be afraid of them.

30 H3068 The LORD H430 your God H1980 [H8802] who goeth H6440 at the face of H3898 [H8735] you, he shall fight H6213 [H8804] for you, according to all that he did H4714 for you in Egypt H5869 before your eyes;

31 H4057 And in the wilderness, H7200 [H8804] where thou hast seen H3068 how the LORD H430 thy God H5375 [H8804] bore H376 thee, as a man H5375 [H8799] doth bear H1121 his son, H1870 in all the way H1980 [H8804] that ye went, H935 [H8800] until ye came H4725 into this place.

32 H1697 Yet in this thing H539 [H8688] ye did not believe H3068 the LORD H430 your God,

33 H1980 [H8802] Who went H1870 in the way H6440 at the face of H8446 [H8800] you, to search out H4725 for you a place H2583 [H8800] to pitch your tents H784 in, in fire H3915 by night, H7200 [H8687] to show H1870 you by what way H3212 [H8799] ye should go, H6051 and in a cloud H3119 by day.

34 H3068 And the LORD H8085 [H8799] heard H6963 the voice H1697 of your words, H7107 [H8799] and burst out in rage, H7650 [H8735] and swore, H559 [H8800] saying,

35 H376 Surely there shall not one H582 of these men H7451 of this evil H1755 generation H7200 [H8799] see H2896 that good H776 land, H7650 [H8738] which I swore H5414 [H8800] to give H1 to your fathers,

36 H2108 Except H3612 Caleb H1121 the son H3312 of Jephunneh; H7200 [H8799] he shall see H5414 [H8799] it, and to him will I give H776 the land H834 that H1869 [H8804] he hath walked upon, H1121 and to his sons, H4390 [H8765] because he hath wholly H310 followed H3068 the LORD.

37 H3068 Also the LORD H599 [H8694] was angry H1558 with me for your sakes, H559 [H8800] saying, H935 [H8799] Thou also shalt not go H8033 in there.

38 H3091 But Joshua H1121 the son H5126 of Nun, H5975 [H8802] who standeth H6440 at the face of H935 [H8799] thee, he shall go in H2388 [H8761] there: encourage H3478 him: for he shall cause Israel H5157 [H8686] to inherit it.

39 H2945 Moreover your little ones, H559 [H8804] which ye said H957 should be a prey, H1121 and your sons, H3117 which in that day H3045 [H8804] had no knowledge H2896 between good H7451 and evil, H935 [H8799] they shall go in H5414 [H8799] there, and to them will I give H3423 [H8799] it, and they shall possess it.

40 H6437 [H8798] But as for you, turn, H5265 [H8798] and take your journey H4057 into the wilderness H1870 by the way H5488 of the Red H3220 sea.

41 H6030 [H8799] Then ye answered H559 [H8799] and said H2398 [H8804] to me, We have sinned H3068 against the LORD, H5927 [H8799] we will go up H3898 [H8738] and fight, H3068 according to all that the LORD H430 our God H6680 [H8765] commanded H2296 [H8799] us. And when ye had girded H376 on every man H3627 his weapons H4421 of war, H1951 [H8686] ye were ready H5927 [H8800] to go up H2022 to the mountain.

42 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H559 [H8798] to me, Say H5927 [H8799] to them, Go not up, H3898 [H8735] neither fight; H7130 for I am not among H5062 [H8735] you; lest ye be smitten H6440 at the face of H341 [H8802] your enemies.

43 H1696 [H8762] So I spoke H8085 [H8804] to you; and ye would not hear, H4784 [H8686] but rebelled H6310 against the mouth H3068 of the LORD, H5927 0 and went H2102 [H8686] presumptuously H5927 [H8799] up H2022 to the mountain.

44 H567 And the Amorites, H3427 [H8802] who dwelt H2022 on that mountain, H3318 [H8799] came out H7125 [H8800] against H7291 [H8799] you, and chased H1682 you, as bees H6213 [H8799] do, H3807 [H8686] and bruised H8165 you in Seir, H2767 even to Hormah.

45 H7725 [H8799] And ye returned H1058 [H8799] and wept H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD; H3068 but the LORD H8085 [H8804] would not hearken H6963 to your voice, H238 [H8689] nor give ear to you.

46 H3427 [H8799] So ye abode H6946 in Kadesh H7227 many H3117 days, H3117 according to the days H3427 [H8804] that ye abode there.
