11 H2428 And it came to pass, that when the army H3778 of the Chaldeans H5927 [H8736] was broken up H3389 from Jerusalem H6440 for fear H6547 of Pharaoh's H2428 army,
12 H3414 Then Jeremiah H3318 [H8799] went H3389 out of Jerusalem H3212 [H8800] to go H776 into the land H1144 of Benjamin, H2505 [H8687] to separate H8432 himself from there in the midst H5971 of the people.
13 H8179 And when he was in the gate H1144 of Benjamin, H1167 a captain H6488 of the guard H8034 was there, whose name H3376 was Irijah, H1121 the son H8018 of Shelemiah, H1121 the son H2608 of Hananiah; H8610 [H8799] and he took H3414 Jeremiah H5030 the prophet, H559 [H8800] saying, H5307 [H8802] Thou fallest away H3778 to the Chaldeans.
14 H559 [H8799] Then said H3414 Jeremiah, H8267 It is false; H5307 [H8802] I fall not away H3778 to the Chaldeans. H8085 [H8804] But he hearkened H3376 not to him: so Irijah H8610 [H8799] took H3414 Jeremiah, H935 [H8686] and brought H8269 him to the princes.
15 H8269 Therefore the princes H7107 [H8799] burst out in rage H3414 with Jeremiah, H5221 [H8689] and beat H5414 [H8804] him, and put H612 him in prison H1004 in the house H3083 of Jonathan H5608 [H8802] the scribe: H6213 [H8804] for they had made H3608 that the prison.
  16 H3414 When Jeremiah H935 [H8804] had entered H1004 H953 into the dungeon, H2588 and into the cells, H3414 and Jeremiah H3427 [H8799] had remained H7227 there many H3117 days;
17 H6667 Then Zedekiah H4428 the king H7971 [H8799] sent, H3947 [H8799] and took him out: H4428 and the king H7592 [H8799] asked H5643 him secretly H1004 in his house, H559 [H8799] and said, H1697 Is there any word H3068 from the LORD? H3414 And Jeremiah H559 [H8799] said, H3426 There is: H559 [H8799] for, said H5414 [H8735] he, thou shalt be given H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon.
18 H3414 Moreover Jeremiah H559 [H8799] said H4428 to king H6667 Zedekiah, H2398 [H8804] How have I offended H5650 against thee, or against thy servants, H5971 or against this people, H5414 [H8804] that ye have put H1004 H3608 me in prison?
19 H346 Where are now H5030 your prophets H5012 [H8738] who prophesied H559 [H8800] to you, saying, H4428 The king H894 of Babylon H935 [H8799] shall not come H776 against you, nor against this land?
20 H8085 [H8798] Therefore hear H113 now, I pray thee, O my sovereign H4428 the king: H8467 let my supplication, H5307 [H8799] I pray thee, be accepted H6440 at the face of H7725 [H8686] thee; that thou cause me not to return H1004 to the house H3083 of Jonathan H5608 [H8802] the scribe, H4191 [H8799] lest I die there.
21 H6667 Then Zedekiah H4428 the king H6680 [H8762] commanded H6485 [H8686] that they should commit H3414 Jeremiah H2691 into the court H4307 of the prison, H5414 [H8800] and that they should give H3117 him daily H3603 a piece H3899 of bread H644 [H8802] out of the baker's H2351 street, H3899 until all the bread H5892 in the city H8552 [H8800] should be consumed. H3414 Thus Jeremiah H3427 [H8799] remained H2691 in the court H4307 of the prison.

Nevertheless Irijah would not believe him, but brought Jeremiah bound before the princes. 15 Wherefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, causing him to be beaten, and to be laid in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe. For he was the ruler of the prison. 16 Thus was Jeremiah put into the dungeon and prison, and so lay there a long time. 17 Then Zedekiah the king sent for him and called him, and asked him quietly in his own house, saying, "Thinkest thou this business, that now is in hand, cometh of the LORD?" Jeremiah answered, "Yea, that it doth: and thou, said he, shalt be delivered in to the king of Babylon's power." 18 Moreover, Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, "What have I offended against thee, against thy servants or against this people, that ye have caused me to be put in prison? 19 Where are your prophets which have prophesied unto you, and said that the king of Babylon should not come against you and this land? 20 And therefore hear now, O my lord the king: let my prayer be accepted before thee, and send me no more into the house of Jonathan the Scribe, that I die not there." 21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded to put Jeremiah in the fore entry of the prison, and daily to be given him a cake of bread of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was eaten up. Thomson(i) 11 Now when the army of the Chaldeans left Jerusalem, on account of the army of Pharao, 12 Jeremias was going out of Jerusalem among the people with a design to go to the land of Benjamin, to make thence some purchase; 13 but when he was at the gate of Benjamin, a man there at whose house he stopped namely Sarouia son of Selemias, son of Ananias, took hold of Jeremias, saying, Thou art fleeing to the Chaldeans. 14 To which he replied, It is false. I am not fleeing to the Chaldeans. But Sarouia hearkened not to him, but took hold of Jeremias and brought him to the chiefs. 15 And the chiefs were enraged at Jeremias and smote him and committed him to the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that a prison. 16 And when Jeremias had gone into the lowest apartment, even into the Chereth, and had been there many days, Sedekias sent for him. 17 And the king asked him privately to tell him whether there was a message from the Lord. And Jeremias said, There is. Thou shalt be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon. 18 Then Jeremias said to the king, Wherein have I offended thee and thy servants and this people, that thou hast committed me to prison? 19 Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you saying, "The king of Babylon shall not come against this land?" 20 Now therefore, my Lord the king, let me find favour in thy sight. Why art thou sending me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe? Must I not die there? 21 Thereupon the king gave orders and they committed him to the guard house and gave him a loaf of bread a day from the bake house until all the bread in the city was spent. So Jeremias remained in the court of the prison.

Leeser(i) 11 And it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem because of the army of Pharaoh, 12 That Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to make his escape thence in the midst of the people. 13 But as he was in the gate of Benjamin, there was there a captain of the guardsmen, whose name was Yiriyah, the son of Shelemyah, the son of Chananyah; and he seized hold of Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou runnest away to the Chaldeans. 14 But Jeremiah said, It is false; I am not running away to the Chaldeans. But he listened not to him; and Yiriyah seized hold of Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes. 15 Thereupon were the princes wroth with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for that had they made into a prison-house. 16 When Jeremiah had been placed in the dungeon, within the traders’ shops, where Jeremiah remained many days: 17 King Zedekiah sent, and had him taken out, and the king asked him in his house in secret, and said, “Is there any word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said, “There is:” and he said, Into the hand of the king of Babylon shalt thou be given up. 18 And Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I sinned against thee, and against thy servants, and against this people, that ye have put me into the prison-house? 19 And where are now your prophets who have prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon will not come against you, and against this land? 20 Yet now, do but hear, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let me offer my humble supplication, I pray thee, before thee, that thou wilt not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there. 21 Then commanded king Zedekiah that they should put Jeremiah in ward in the court of the prison, and that they should give him a loaf of bread for every day out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread was spent out of the city. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
YLT(i) 11 And it hath come to pass, in the going up of the force of the Chaldeans from off Jerusalem, because of the force of Pharaoh, 12 that Jeremiah goeth out from Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin, to receive a portion thence in the midst of the people. 13 And it cometh to pass, he is at the gate of Benjamin, and there is a master of the ward—and his name is Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah—and he catcheth Jeremiah the prophet, saying, `Unto the Chaldeans thou art falling.' 14 And Jeremiah saith, `Falsehood—I am not falling unto the Chaldeans;' and he hath not hearkened unto him, and Irijah layeth hold on Jeremiah, and bringeth him in unto the heads, 15 and the heads are wroth against Jeremiah, and have smitten him, and put him in the prison-house—the house of Jonathan the scribe, for it they had made for a prison-house. 16 When Jeremiah hath entered into the house of the dungeon, and unto the cells, then Jeremiah dwelleth there many days, 17 and the king Zedekiah sendeth, and taketh him, and the king asketh him in his house in secret, and saith, `Is there a word from Jehovah?' And Jeremiah saith, `There is,' and he saith, `Into the hand of the king of Babylon thou art given.' 18 And Jeremiah saith unto the king Zedekiah, `What have I sinned against thee, and against thy servants, and against this people, that ye have given me unto a prison-house? 19 And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon doth not come in against you, and against this land? 20 And now, hearken, I pray thee, my lord, O king, let my supplication fall, I pray thee, before thee, and cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, that I die not there.' 21 And the king Zedekiah commandeth, and they commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, also to give to him a cake of bread daily from the bakers' street, till the consumption of all the bread of the city, and Jeremiah dwelleth in the court of the prison.

And Jeremiah dwelt in the enclosure of the prison.

Rotherham(i) 11 Now it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldeans, had gone up, from Jerusalem,––because of the force of Pharaoh, 12 then went forth Jeremiah out of Jerusalem, to go into the land of Benjamin,––to receive a portion from thence in the midst of the people. 13 And so it came to pass, he, being in the gate of Benjamin, and there being there, a ward–master whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah son of Hananiah, that he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Unto the Chaldeans, art thou, falling away! 14 Then said Jeremiah, False! I am not falling away unto the Chaldeans! Howbeit he hearkened not unto him,––so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him in unto the princes. 15 Then were the princes wroth, against Jeremiah, and smote him,––and put him in prison, in the house of Jonathan the scribe, for, that, had they made the prison. 16 When Jeremiah had entered into the dungeon–house and into the cells, and Jeremiah, had remained there, many days, 17 then sent King Zedekiah––and fetched him, and the king, asked him, in his own house, secretly, and said,––Is, there a word from Yahweh? And Jeremiah said,––There is, for (said he), Into the hand of the king of Babylon, shalt thou be delivered! 18 And Jeremiah said, unto King Zedekiah,––What sin have I committed against thee, or, against thy servants, or, against this people, that ye have delivered me, up into prison? 19 Where, then are your prophets, who prophesied unto you, saying,––The king of Babylon, shall not come, against you, nor against this land? 20 Now, therefore, hear, I beseech thee, O my lord the king,––Let my supplication, I pray thee, fall prostrate before thee, and do not cause me to return unto the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there! 21 Then King Zedekiah gave command and they committed Jeremiah into the guard–court, and [said] that there should be given him a cake of bread daily, out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread out of the city, should be spent. So Jeremiah remained, in the guard–court.

BBE(i) 11 And it came about that when the Chaldaean army outside Jerusalem had gone away for fear of Pharaoh's army, 12 Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, with the purpose of taking up his heritage there among the people. 13 But when he was at the Benjamin door, a captain of the watch named Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, who was stationed there, put his hand on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are going to give yourself up to the Chaldaeans. 14 Then Jeremiah said, That is not true; I am not going to the Chaldaeans. But he would not give ear to him: so Irijah made him prisoner and took him to the rulers. 15 And the rulers were angry with Jeremiah, and gave him blows and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison. 16 So Jeremiah came into the hole of the prison, under the arches, and was there for a long time. 17 Then King Zedekiah sent and got him out: and the king, questioning him secretly in his house, said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is. Then he said, You will be given up into the hands of the king of Babylon. 18 Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, What has been my sin against you or against your servants or against this people, that you have put me in prison? 19 Where now are your prophets who said to you, The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land? 20 And now be pleased to give ear, O my lord the king; let my prayer for help come before you, and do not make me go back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, for fear that I may come to my death there. 21 Then by the order of Zedekiah the king, Jeremiah was put into the place of the armed watchmen, and they gave him every day a cake of bread from the street of the bread-makers, till all the bread in the town was used up. So Jeremiah was kept in the place of the armed watchmen.

Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

CAB(i) 11 And it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldeans had gone up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army, 12 that Jeremiah went forth from Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to buy some property from there among the people. 13 And he was in the gate of Benjamin, and there was a man there with whom he lodged, Irajah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he caught Jeremiah, saying, You are fleeing to the Chaldeans. 14 And he said, that's a lie! I do not flee to the Chaldeans! But he would not listen to him. So Irajah caught Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes. 15 And the princes were very angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and sent him into the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had turned his house into a prison. 16 So Jeremiah came into the dungeon, and into the cells, and he remained there many days. 17 Then Zedekiah sent, and called him; and the king asked him secretly, saying, Is there a word from the Lord? And he said, There is. You shall be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon. 18 And Jeremiah said to the king, How have I wronged you, or your servants, or this people, that you have put me in prison? 19 And where are your prophets who prophesied to you saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against this land? 20 Now therefore, my lord the king, let my supplication come before your face; and why do you send me back to the house of Jonathan the scribe? And by no means let me die there. 21 Then the king commanded, and they cast him into the prison, and gave him a loaf a day out of the place where they bake, until the bread failed out of the city. So Jeremiah continued in the court of the prison.
LXX2012(i) 12 Thus says the Lord; I have brought on [you] destruction; your stroke is painful. 13 There is none to judge your cause: you have been painfully treated for healing, there is no help for you. 14 All your friends have forgotten you; they shall not ask [about you] at all, for I have struck you with he stroke of an enemy, [even] severe correction: your sins have abounded above all your iniquity. 15 Your sins have abounded beyond the multitude of your iniquities, [therefore] they have done these things to you. Therefore all that devour you shall be eaten, and all your enemies shall eat all their [own] flesh. 16 And they that spoil you shall become a spoil, and I will give up to be plundered all that have plundered you. 17 For I will bring about your healing, I will heal you of your grievous wound, says the Lord; for you are called Dispersed: she is your prey, for no one seeks after her. 18 Thus said the Lord; Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob, and will have pity upon his prisoners; and the city shall be built upon her hill, and the people shall settle after their manner. 19 And there shall go forth from them singers, [even] the sound of men making merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not at all be diminished. 20 And their sons shall go in as before, and their testimonies shall be established before me, and I will visit them that afflict them. 21 And their mighty ones shall be over them, and their prince shall proceed of themselves; and I will gather them, and they shall return to me: for who is this that has set his heart to return to me? says the Lord.
NSB(i) 11 The Babylonian army retreated from Jerusalem because Pharaoh's army was coming. 12 Jeremiah wanted to leave Jerusalem and go to the territory of Benjamin to take possession of his property there among the people. 13 When he came to Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard there, whose name was Irijah, son of Shelemiah and grandson of Hananiah, arrested the prophet Jeremiah. He said: »You are deserting to the Babylonians!« 14 Jeremiah answered: »That is not true! I am not deserting to the Babylonians.« But Irijah would not listen to him. Irijah arrested Jeremiah and took him to the officials. 15 The officials were so angry with Jeremiah that they beat him and put him in prison in the scribe Jonathan's house, which had been turned into a prison. 16 Jeremiah went into a prison cell, and he stayed there a long time. 17 Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah, and the king asked him privately in the palace: »Is there any message from Jehovah? Jeremiah answered: Yes! There is a message from Jehovah. You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.« 18 Then Jeremiah asked King Zedekiah: »What crime have I committed against you, your administrators, or these people? Why have you put me in prison? 19 »Where are the prophets who told you that the king of Babylon would not attack you and this land? 20 »Your Majesty, please listen, and accept my plea for mercy. Do not return me to the scribe Jonathan's house, or I will die there.« 21 King Zedekiah gave the command to have Jeremiah put in the courtyard of the prison. He gave him a loaf of bread every day from the bakers' street until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the prison.
ISV(i) 11 Jeremiah Arrested for TreasonWhen the Chaldean army was leaving Jerusalem because of Pharaoh’s army, 12 Jeremiah left Jerusalem to go to the territory of Benjamin to take possession of his property there among the people. 13 He was in the Gate of Benjamin, and chief officer Irijah, Shelemiah’s son and the grandson of Hananiah, was there. He arrested Jeremiah the prophet, accusing him: “You are going over to the Chaldeans!”
14 Jeremiah said, “It’s a lie! I’m not going over to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah would not listen to him, and he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials. 15 The officials were angry with Jeremiah and beat him. They put him in jail in the house of Jonathan the scribe because they had made it into a prison. 16 So Jeremiah came into the cells in the dungeon and remained there for a long time.
17 Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house: “Is there a message from the LORD?”
Jeremiah said, “There is,” and then he said, “You will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon.” 18 Then Jeremiah asked King Zedekiah, “What offense have I committed against you, your officials, or these people that you have put me in prison? 19 Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, telling you: ‘The king of Babylon won’t come against you or against this land’? 20 Now, please listen, your majesty, and pay attention to what I’m asking you. Don’t make me go back to the house of Jonathan the scribe, so I don’t die there.”
21 So King Zedekiah gave the order, and they assigned Jeremiah to the courtyard of the guard. Each day they gave him a loaf of bread from the bakers’ street until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.

VIN(i) 11 When the Chaldean army was leaving Jerusalem because of Pharaoh's army, 12 Jeremiah wanted to leave Jerusalem and go to the territory of Benjamin to take possession of his property there among the people. 13 When he came to Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard there, whose name was Irijah, son of Shelemiah and grandson of Hananiah, arrested the prophet Jeremiah. He said: "You are deserting to the Babylonians!" 14 Jeremiah answered: "That is not true! I am not deserting to the Babylonians." But Irijah would not listen to him. Irijah arrested Jeremiah and took him to the officials. 15 The princes were angry with Jeremiah and struck him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison. 16 Jeremiah went into a prison cell, and he stayed there a long time. 17 Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah, and the king asked him privately in the palace: "Is there any message from the LORD? Jeremiah answered: Yes! There is a message from the LORD. You will be handed over to the king of Babylon." 18 Then Jeremiah asked King Zedekiah, "What offense have I committed against you, your officials, or these people that you have put me in prison? 19 "Where are the prophets who told you that the king of Babylon would not attack you and this land? 20 Now then, my lord the king, please let my plea fall before you. You must not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, so that I will not die there." 21 So King Zedekiah gave the order, and they assigned Jeremiah to the courtyard of the guard. Each day they gave him a loaf of bread from the bakers' street until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.

On zaustavi proroka Jeremiju povikavši: "Ti hoćeš prebjeći Kaldejcima!" Ondje Jeremija ostade mnogo vremena. 17 Tada kralj Sidkija posla po njega. I nasamo, u dvoru, kralj ga upita: "Ima li riječi od Jahve?" A na to će Jeremija: "Dakako!" I dometne: "Bit ćeš predan u ruke kralja babilonskoga!" 18 Onda Jeremija kaza kralju Sidkiji: "Što skrivih tebi, tvojim slugama i ovom narodu te me baciste u tamnicu? 16 Když pak vešel Jeremiáš do té jámy a do sklípků jejích, a seděl tam Jeremiáš mnoho dní. 20 Nyní tedy slyš, žádám, pane můj králi, nechť, prosím, místo má před tebou pokorná prosba má; nedopouštěj mne zase voditi do domu Jonatana písaře, abych tam neumřel. 21 I přikázal král Sedechiáš, aby vsadili Jeremiáše do síně stráže, a dávali jemu pecník chleba na den z ulice pekařů, dokudž by nebyl vytráven všecken chléb v městě.

Jeremia vastasi: "On". Ja hän sanoi: "Sinut annetaan Baabelin kuninkaan käsiin". 18 Ja Jeremia sanoi kuningas Sidkialle: "Mitä minä olen rikkonut sinua ja sinun palvelijoitasi vastaan ja tätä kansaa vastaan, koska te olette panneet minut vankeuteen? 19 Ja missä ovat teidän profeettanne, jotka ennustivat teille sanoen: 'Ei tule Baabelin kuningas teidän kimppuunne eikä tämän maan kimppuun'? 20 Ja kuule nyt, herrani, kuningas, salli minun rukoukseni langeta sinun eteesi äläkä lähetä minua takaisin kirjuri Joonatanin taloon, etten kuolisi siellä." 21 Silloin kuningas Sidkia käski säilyttää Jeremiaa vankilan pihassa, ja hänelle annettiin leipäkakku päivässä Leipurienkadulta, kunnes kaikki leipä oli kaupungista loppunut.

Jeremijas atsakė: “Taip, tu būsi atiduotas į Babilono karaliaus rankas”. 18 Be to, Jeremijas sakė karaliui Sedekijui: “Kuo aš nusikaltau tau, tavo tarnams ir tautai, kad mane laikote kalėjime?
15 Tedy rozgniewawszy się książęta na Jeremijasza, ubili go, i podali go do więzienia, do domu Jonatana pisarza; bo z niego byli uczynili dom więzienia. 16 A gdy wszedł Jeremijasz do onego domu a do tarasu ich, i siedział tam Jeremijasz przez wiele dni; 17 Tedy posławszy król Sedekijasz, wziął go, i pytał go król w domu swoim potajemnie, mówiąc: Jestże jakie słowo od Pana? I odpowiedział Jeremijasz: Jest; przytem rzekł: W rękę króla Babilońskiego podany będziesz. 18 Nadto rzekł Jeremijasz do króla Sedekijasza: Cóżem zgrzeszył przeciwko tobie, i sługom twoim, i ludowi twemu, żeście mię podali do tego domu więzienia?
