  1 H3290 And Jacob H3427 dwelt [H8799]   H776 in the land H1 wherein his father H4033 was a stranger H776 , in the land H3667 of Canaan.
  2 H8435 These are the generations H3290 of Jacob H3130 . Joseph H6240 , being seventeen H7651   H8141 years H1121 old H7462 , was feeding [H8802]   H6629 the flock H251 with his brethren H5288 ; and the lad H1121 was with the sons H1090 of Bilhah H1121 , and with the sons H2153 of Zilpah H1 , his father's H802 wives H3130 : and Joseph H935 brought [H8686]   H1 unto his father H7451 their evil H1681 report.
  3 H3478 Now Israel H157 loved [H8804]   H3130 Joseph H1121 more than all his children H1121 , because he was the son H2208 of his old age H6213 : and he made [H8804]   H3801 him a coat H6446 of many colours.
  4 H251 And when his brethren H7200 saw [H8799]   H1 that their father H157 loved [H8804]   H251 him more than all his brethren H8130 , they hated [H8799]   H3201 him, and could [H8804]   H1696 not speak [H8763]   H7965 peaceably unto him.
  5 H3130 And Joseph H2492 dreamed [H8799]   H2472 a dream H5046 , and he told [H8686]   H251 it his brethren H8130 : and they hated [H8800]   H3254 him yet the more [H8686]  .
  6 H559 And he said [H8799]   H8085 unto them, Hear [H8798]   H2472 , I pray you, this dream H2492 which I have dreamed [H8804]  :
  7 H481 For, behold, we were binding [H8764]   H8432   H485 sheaves H7704 in the field H485 , and, lo, my sheaf H6965 arose [H8804]   H5324 , and also stood upright [H8738]   H485 ; and, behold, your sheaves H5437 stood round about [H8799]   H7812 , and made obeisance [H8691]   H485 to my sheaf.
  8 H251 And his brethren H559 said [H8799]   H4427 to him, Shalt thou indeed [H8800]   H4427 reign [H8799]   H4910 over us? or shalt thou indeed [H8800]   H4910 have dominion [H8799]   H8130 over us? And they hated [H8800]   H3254 him yet the more [H8686]   H2472 for his dreams H1697 , and for his words.
  9 H2492 And he dreamed [H8799]   H312 yet another H2472 dream H5608 , and told [H8762]   H251 it his brethren H559 , and said [H8799]   H2492 , Behold, I have dreamed [H8804]   H2472 a dream H8121 more; and, behold, the sun H3394 and the moon H6240 and the eleven H259   H3556 stars H7812 made obeisance [H8693]   to me.

  11 H251 And his brethren H7065 envied [H8762]   H1 him; but his father H8104 observed [H8804]   H1697 the saying.
  12 H251 And his brethren H3212 went [H8799]   H7462 to feed [H8800]   H1 their father's H6629 flock H7927 in Shechem.
  13 H3478 And Israel H559 said [H8799]   H3130 unto Joseph H251 , Do not thy brethren H7462 feed [H8802]   H7927 the flock in Shechem H3212 ? come [H8798]   H7971 , and I will send thee [H8799]   H559 unto them. And he said [H8799]   to him, Here am I .
  14 H559 And he said [H8799]   H3212 to him, Go [H8798]   H7200 , I pray thee, see [H8798]   H7965 whether it be well H251 with thy brethren H7965 , and well H6629 with the flocks H7725 ; and bring H1697 me word H7725 again [H8685]   H7971 . So he sent [H8799]   H6010 him out of the vale H2275 of Hebron H935 , and he came [H8799]   H7927 to Shechem.
  15 H376 And a certain man H4672 found him [H8799]   H8582 , and, behold, he was wandering [H8802]   H7704 in the field H376 : and the man H7592 asked him [H8799]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H1245 , What seekest [H8762]   thou?
  16 H559 And he said [H8799]   H1245 , I seek [H8764]   H251 my brethren H5046 : tell [H8685]   H375 me, I pray thee, where H7462 they feed [H8802]   their flocks .
  17 H376 And the man H559 said [H8799]   H5265 , They are departed [H8804]   H2088 hence H8085 ; for I heard [H8804]   H559 them say [H8802]   H3212 , Let us go [H8799]   H1886 to Dothan H3130 . And Joseph H3212 went [H8799]   H310 after H251 his brethren H4672 , and found [H8799]   H1886 them in Dothan.
  18 H7200 And when they saw [H8799]   H7350 him afar off H7126 , even before he came near [H8799]   H5230 unto them, they conspired [H8691]   H4191 against him to slay [H8687]   him.
  19 H559 And they said [H8799]   H376 one H251 to another H1976 , Behold, this H1167 dreamer H2472   H935 cometh [H8802]  .
  20 H3212 Come [H8798]   H2026 now therefore, and let us slay [H8799]   H7993 him, and cast [H8686]   H259 him into some H953 pit H559 , and we will say [H8804]   H7451 , Some evil H2416 beast H398 hath devoured [H8804]   H7200 him: and we shall see [H8799]   H2472 what will become of his dreams.
  21 H7205 And Reuben H8085 heard [H8799]   H5337 it, and he delivered [H8686]   H3027 him out of their hands H559 ; and said [H8799]   H5221 , Let us not kill [H8686]   H5315   him.
  22 H7205 And Reuben H559 said [H8799]   H8210 unto them, Shed [H8799]   H1818 no blood H7993 , but cast [H8685]   H953 him into this pit H4057 that is in the wilderness H7971 , and lay [H8799]   H3027 no hand H5337 upon him; that he might rid [H8687]   H3027 him out of their hands H7725 , to deliver H1 him to his father H7725 again [H8687]  .
  23 H3130 And it came to pass, when Joseph H935 was come [H8804]   H251 unto his brethren H6584 , that they stript [H8686]   H853   H3130 Joseph H854 out of H3801 his coat H3801 , his coat H6446 of many colours that was on him;
  24 H3947 And they took [H8799]   H7993 him, and cast [H8686]   H953 him into a pit H953 : and the pit H7386 was empty H4325 , there was no water in it.
  25 H3427 And they sat down [H8799]   H398 to eat [H8800]   H3899 bread H5375 : and they lifted up [H8799]   H5869 their eyes H7200 and looked [H8799]   H736 , and, behold, a company H3459 of Ishmeelites H935 came [H8802]   H1568 from Gilead H1581 with their camels H5375 bearing [H8802]   H5219 spicery H6875 and balm H3910 and myrrh H1980 , going [H8802]   H3381 to carry it down [H8687]   H4714 to Egypt.
  26 H3063 And Judah H559 said [H8799]   H251 unto his brethren H1215 , What profit H2026 is it if we slay [H8799]   H251 our brother H3680 , and conceal [H8765]   H1818 his blood?
  27 H3212 Come [H8798]   H4376 , and let us sell [H8799]   H3459 him to the Ishmeelites H3027 , and let not our hand H251 be upon him; for he is our brother H1320 and our flesh H251 . And his brethren H8085 were content [H8799]  .
  28 H5674 Then there passed [H8799]   H4084 by Midianites H582 merchantmen H5503   [H8802]   H4900 ; and they drew [H8799]   H5927 and lifted up [H8686]   H3130 Joseph H953 out of the pit H4376 , and sold [H8799]   H3130 Joseph H3459 to the Ishmeelites H6242 for twenty H3701 pieces of silver H935 : and they brought [H8686]   H3130 Joseph H4714 into Egypt.
  29 H7205 And Reuben H7725 returned [H8799]   H953 unto the pit H3130 ; and, behold, Joseph H953 was not in the pit H7167 ; and he rent [H8799]   H899 his clothes.
  30 H7725 And he returned [H8799]   H251 unto his brethren H559 , and said [H8799]   H3206 , The child H575 is not; and I, whither H935 shall I go [H8802]  ?
  31 H3947 And they took [H8799]   H3130 Joseph's H3801 coat H7819 , and killed [H8799]   H8163 a kid H5795 of the goats H2881 , and dipped [H8799]   H3801 the coat H1818 in the blood;
  32 H7971 And they sent [H8762]   H3801 the coat H6446 of many colours H935 , and they brought [H8686]   H1 it to their father H559 ; and said [H8799]   H4672 , This have we found [H8804]   H5234 : know [H8685]   H1121 now whether it be thy son's H3801 coat or no.
  33 H5234 And he knew it [H8686]   H559 , and said [H8799]   H1121 , It is my son's H3801 coat H7451 ; an evil H2416 beast H398 hath devoured [H8804]   H3130 him; Joseph H2963 is without doubt [H8800]   H2963 rent in pieces [H8776]  .
  34 H3290 And Jacob H7167 rent [H8799]   H8071 his clothes H7760 , and put [H8799]   H8242 sackcloth H4975 upon his loins H56 , and mourned [H8691]   H1121 for his son H7227 many H3117 days.
  35 H1121 And all his sons H1323 and all his daughters H6965 rose up [H8799]   H5162 to comfort [H8763]   H3985 him; but he refused [H8762]   H5162 to be comforted [H8692]   H559 ; and he said [H8799]   H3381 , For I will go down [H8799]   H7585 into the grave H1121 unto my son H57 mourning H1 . Thus his father H1058 wept [H8799]   for him.
  36 H4092 And the Midianites H4376 sold [H8804]   H4714 him into Egypt H6318 unto Potiphar H5631 , an officer H6547 of Pharaoh's H8269 , and captain H2876 of the guard.
