G2532 And G1492 because he saw [G5631]   G3754 it G2076 pleased [G5748]   G701   G2453 the Jews G4369 , he proceeded further [G5639]   G4815 to take [G5629]   G4074 Peter G2532 also G1161 . (Then G2258 were [G5713]   G2250 the days G106 of unleavened bread.)
G3739 And G2532   G4084 when he had apprehended [G5660]   G5087 him, he put [G5639]   G1519 him in G5438 prison G3860 , and delivered [G5631]   G5064 him to four G5069 quaternions G4757 of soldiers G5442 to keep [G5721]   G846 him G1014 ; intending [G5740]   G3326 after G3957 Easter G321 to bring G846 him G321 forth [G5629]   G2992 to the people.
G4074 Peter G3303   G3767 therefore G5083 was kept [G5712]   G1722 in G5438 prison G1161 : but G4335 prayer G2258 was [G5713]   G1096 made [G5740]   G1618 without ceasing G5259 of G1577 the church G4314 unto G2316 God G5228 for G846 him.
G1161 And G3753 when G2264 Herod G3195 would [G5707]   G4254 have brought G846 him G4254 forth [G5721]   G1565 , the same G3571 night G4074 Peter G2258 was [G5713]   G2837 sleeping [G5746]   G3342 between G1417 two G4757 soldiers G1210 , bound [G5772]   G1417 with two G254 chains G5037 : and G5441 the keepers G4253 before G2374 the door G5083 kept [G5707]   G5438 the prison.
G2532 And G2400 , behold [G5628]   G32 , the angel G2962 of the Lord G2186 came upon [G5627]   G2532 him, and G5457 a light G2989 shined [G5656]   G1722 in G3612 the prison G1161 : and G3960 he smote [G5660]   G4074 Peter G4125 on the side G1453 , and raised G846 him G1453 up [G5656]   G3004 , saying [G5723]   G450 , Arise up [G5628]   G1722 quickly G5034   G2532 . And G846 his G254 chains G1601 fell off [G5627]   G1537 from G5495 his hands.
G5037 And G32 the angel G2036 said [G5627]   G4314 unto G846 him G4024 , Gird thyself [G5669]   G2532 , and G5265 bind on [G5669]   G4675 thy G4547 sandals G1161 . And G3779 so G4160 he did [G5656]   G2532 . And G3004 he saith [G5719]   G846 unto him G4016 , Cast G2440 thy garment G4016 about [G5640]   G4675 thee G2532 , and G190 follow [G5720]   G3427 me.
G2532 And G1831 he went out [G5631]   G190 , and followed [G5707]   G846 him G2532 ; and G1492 wist [G5715]   G3756 not G3754 that G2076 it was [G5748]   G227 true G3588 which G1096 was done [G5740]   G1223 by G32 the angel G1161 ; but G1380 thought [G5707]   G991 he saw [G5721]   G3705 a vision.
G1161 When G1330 they were past [G5631]   G4413 the first G2532 and G1208 the second G5438 ward G2064 , they came [G5627]   G1909 unto G4603 the iron G4439 gate G5342 that leadeth [G5723]   G1519 unto G4172 the city G3748 ; which G455 opened [G5681]   G846 to them G844 of his own accord G2532 : and G1831 they went out [G5631]   G4281 , and passed on through [G5627]   G3391 one G4505 street G2532 ; and G2112 forthwith G32 the angel G868 departed [G5627]   G575 from G846 him.
G2532 And G4074 when Peter G1096 was come [G5637]   G1722 to G1438 himself G2036 , he said [G5627]   G3568 , Now G1492 I know [G5758]   G230 of a surety G3754 , that G2962 the Lord G1821 hath sent [G5656]   G846 his G32 angel G2532 , and G1807 hath delivered [G5639]   G3165 me G1537 out of G5495 the hand G2264 of Herod G2532 , and G3956 from all G4329 the expectation G2992 of the people G2453 of the Jews.
G5037 And G4894 when he had considered [G5631]   G2064 the thing, he came [G5627]   G1909 to G3614 the house G3137 of Mary G3384 the mother G2491 of John G1941 , whose surname was [G5746]   G3138 Mark G3757 ; where G2425 many G2258 were [G5713]   G4867 gathered together [G5772]   G2532 praying G4336   [G5740]  .
G1161 And G4074 as Peter G2925 knocked at [G5660]   G2374 the door G4440 of the gate G3814 , a damsel G4334 came [G5627]   G5219 to hearken [G5658]   G3686 , named G4498 Rhoda.
G2532 And G1921 when she knew [G5631]   G4074 Peter's G5456 voice G455 , she opened [G5656]   G3756 not G4440 the gate G575 for G5479 gladness G1161 , but G1532 ran in [G5631]   G518 , and told how [G5656]   G4074 Peter G2476 stood [G5760]   G4253 before G4440 the gate.
G1161 And G2036 they said [G5627]   G4314 unto G846 her G3105 , Thou art mad [G5736]   G1161 . But G1340 she constantly affirmed [G5711]   G2192 that it was [G5721]   G3779 even so G1161 . Then G3004 said they [G5707]   G2076 , It is [G5748]   G846 his G32 angel.
G1161 But G4074 Peter G1961 continued [G5707]   G2925 knocking [G5723]   G1161 : and G455 when they had opened [G5660]   G1492 the door, and saw [G5627]   G846 him G2532 , G1839 they were astonished [G5627]  .
G1161 But G2678 he, beckoning [G5660]   G846 unto them G5495 with the hand G4601 to hold their peace [G5721]   G1334 , declared [G5662]   G846 unto them G4459 how G2962 the Lord G1806 had brought [G5627]   G846 him G1537 out of G5438 the prison G1161 . And G2036 he said [G5627]   G518 , Go shew [G5657]   G5023 these things G2385 unto James G2532 , and G80 to the brethren G2532 . And G1831 he departed [G5631]   G4198 , and went [G5675]   G1519 into G2087 another G5117 place.
G1161 Now G1096 as soon as it was [G5637]   G2250 day G2258 , there was [G5713]   G3756 no G3641 small G5017 stir G1722 among G4757 the soldiers G5101 , what G686   G1096 was become [G5633]   G4074 of Peter.
G1161 And G1934 when G2264 Herod G1934 had sought for [G5660]   G846 him G2532 , and G2147 found him [G5631]   G3361 not G350 , he examined [G5660]   G5441 the keepers G2753 , and commanded [G5656]   G520 that they should be put to death [G5683]   G2532 . And G2718 he went down [G5631]   G575 from G2449 Judaea G1519 to G2542 Caesarea G1304 , and there abode [G5707]  .
G1161 And G2264 Herod G2258 was [G5713]   G2371 highly displeased [G5723]   G5183 with them of Tyre G2532 and G4606 Sidon G1161 : but G3918 they came [G5713]   G3661 with one accord G4314 to G846 him G2532 , and G3982 , having made G986 Blastus G935 the king's G1909 chamberlain G2846   G3982 their friend [G5660]   G154 , desired [G5710]   G1515 peace G1223 ; because G846 their G5561 country G5142 was nourished [G5745]   G575 by G937 the king's country .
G1161 And G5002 upon a set G2250 day G2264 Herod G1746 , arrayed [G5671]   G937 in royal G2066 apparel G2523 , sat [G5660]   G1909 upon G968 his throne G2532 , and G1215 made an oration [G5707]   G4314 unto G846 them.
G1161 And G1218 the people G2019 gave a shout [G5707]   G5456 , saying, It is the voice G2316 of a god G2532 , and G3756 not G444 of a man.
G1161 And G3916 immediately G32 the angel G2962 of the Lord G3960 smote [G5656]   G846 him G473 , because G3739   G1325 he gave [G5656]   G3756 not G2316 God G1391 the glory G2532 : and G1096 he was [G5637]   G4662 eaten of worms G1634 , and gave up the ghost [G5656]  .
G1161 But G3056 the word G2316 of God G837 grew [G5707]   G2532 and G4129 multiplied [G5712]  .
G1161 And G921 Barnabas G2532 and G4569 Saul G5290 returned [G5656]   G1537 from G2419 Jerusalem G4137 , when they had fulfilled [G5660]   G1248 their ministry G2532 , and G4838 took with them [G5631]   G2491 John G1941 , whose surname was [G5685]   G3138 Mark.
ERV(i) 1 Now about that time Herod the king put forth his hands to afflict certain of the church. 2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. And [those] were the days of unleavened bread. 4 And when he had taken him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people. 5 Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him. 6 And when Herod was about to bring him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and guards before the door kept the prison. 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shined in the cell: and he smote Peter on the side, and awoke him, saying, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And he did so. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed; and he wist not that it was true which was done by the angel, but thought he saw a vision. 10 And when they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth into the city; which opened to them of its own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and straightway the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a truth, that the Lord hath sent forth his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. 12 And when he had considered [the thing], he came to the house of Mary the mother of John whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together and were praying. 13 And when he knocked at the door of the gate, a maid came to answer, named Rhoda. 14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but ran in, and told that Peter stood before the gate. 15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. And they said, It is his angel. 16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went to another place. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the guards, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and tarried there. 20 Now he was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: and they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was fed from the king’s country. 21 And upon a set day Herod arrayed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the throne, and made an oration unto them. 22 And the people shouted, [saying], The voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. 25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministration, taking with them John whose surname was Mark.
