Samuel 15

KJV_Strongs(i)
H8050 Samuel H559 also said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H3068 , The LORD H7971 sent [H8804]   H4886 me to anoint [H8800]   H4428 thee to be king H5971 over his people H3478 , over Israel H8085 : now therefore hearken [H8798]   H6963 thou unto the voice H1697 of the words H3068 of the LORD.
H559 Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H6485 , I remember [H8804]   H6002 that which Amalek H6213 did [H8804]   H3478 to Israel H7760 , how he laid [H8804]   H1870 wait for him in the way H5927 , when he came up [H8800]   H4714 from Egypt.
H3212 Now go [H8798]   H5221 and smite [H8689]   H6002 Amalek H2763 , and utterly destroy [H8689]   H2550 all that they have, and spare [H8799]   H4191 them not; but slay [H8689]   H376 both man H802 and woman H5768 , infant H3243 and suckling [H8802]   H7794 , ox H7716 and sheep H1581 , camel H2543 and ass.
H7586 And Saul H8085 gathered H5971 the people H8085 together [H8762]   H6485 , and numbered [H8799]   H2923 them in Telaim H3967 , two hundred H505 thousand H7273 footmen H6235 , and ten H505 thousand H376 men H3063 of Judah.
H7586 And Saul H935 came [H8799]   H5892 to a city H6002 of Amalek H7378 , and laid wait [H8799]   H693   [H8686]   H5158 in the valley.
H7586 And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H7017 unto the Kenites H3212 , Go [H8798]   H5493 , depart [H8798]   H3381 , get you down [H8798]   H8432 from among H6002 the Amalekites H622 , lest I destroy [H8799]   H6213 you with them: for ye shewed [H8804]   H2617 kindness H1121 to all the children H3478 of Israel H5927 , when they came up [H8800]   H4714 out of Egypt H7017 . So the Kenites H5493 departed [H8799]   H8432 from among H6003 the Amalekites.
H7586 And Saul H5221 smote [H8686]   H6002 the Amalekites H2341 from Havilah H935 until thou comest [H8800]   H7793 to Shur H6440 , that is over against H4714 Egypt.
H8610 And he took [H8799]   H90 Agag H4428 the king H6002 of the Amalekites H2416 alive H2763 , and utterly destroyed [H8689]   H5971 all the people H6310 with the edge H2719 of the sword.
H7586 But Saul H5971 and the people H2550 spared [H8799]   H90 Agag H4315 , and the best H6629 of the sheep H1241 , and of the oxen H4932 , and of the fatlings H3733 , and the lambs H2896 , and all that was good H14 , and would [H8804]   H2763 not utterly destroy [H8687]   H4399 them: but every thing H5240 that was vile H4549 and refuse [H8738]   H2763 , that they destroyed utterly [H8689]  .
H1697 Then came the word H3068 of the LORD H8050 unto Samuel H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
H5162 It repenteth [H8738]   H4427 me that I have set up [H8689]   H7586 Saul H4428 to be king H7725 : for he is turned back [H8804]   H310 from following H6965 me, and hath not performed [H8689]   H1697 my commandments H2734 . And it grieved [H8799]   H8050 Samuel H2199 ; and he cried [H8799]   H3068 unto the LORD H3915 all night.
H8050 And when Samuel H7925 rose early [H8686]   H7125 to meet [H8800]   H7586 Saul H1242 in the morning H5046 , it was told [H8714]   H8050 Samuel H559 , saying [H8800]   H7586 , Saul H935 came [H8804]   H3760 to Carmel H5324 , and, behold, he set him up [H8688]   H3027 a place H5437 , and is gone about [H8735]   H5674 , and passed on [H8799]   H3381 , and gone down [H8799]   H1537 to Gilgal.
H8050 And Samuel H935 came [H8799]   H7586 to Saul H7586 : and Saul H559 said [H8799]   H1288 unto him, Blessed [H8803]   H3068 be thou of the LORD H6965 : I have performed [H8689]   H1697 the commandment H3068 of the LORD.
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H6963 , What meaneth then this bleating H6629 of the sheep H241 in mine ears H6963 , and the lowing H1241 of the oxen H8085 which I hear [H8802]  ?
H7586 And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H935 , They have brought [H8689]   H6003 them from the Amalekites H5971 : for the people H2550 spared [H8804]   H4315 the best H6629 of the sheep H1241 and of the oxen H2076 , to sacrifice [H8800]   H3068 unto the LORD H430 thy God H3498 ; and the rest [H8802]   H2763 we have utterly destroyed [H8689]  .
H8050 Then Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H7503 , Stay [H8685]   H5046 , and I will tell [H8686]   H3068 thee what the LORD H1696 hath said [H8765]   H3915 to me this night H559 . And he said [H8799]   H1696 unto him, Say on [H8761]  .
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H6996 , When thou wast little H5869 in thine own sight H7218 , wast thou not made the head H7626 of the tribes H3478 of Israel H3068 , and the LORD H4886 anointed [H8799]   H4428 thee king H3478 over Israel?
H3068 And the LORD H7971 sent [H8799]   H1870 thee on a journey H559 , and said [H8799]   H3212 , Go [H8798]   H2763 and utterly destroy [H8689]   H2400 the sinners H6002 the Amalekites H3898 , and fight [H8738]   H3615 against them until they be consumed [H8763]  .
H8085 Wherefore then didst thou not obey [H8804]   H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H5860 , but didst fly [H8799]   H7998 upon the spoil H6213 , and didst [H8799]   H7451 evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD?
H7586 And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H8050 unto Samuel H8085 , Yea, I have obeyed [H8804]   H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H3212 , and have gone [H8799]   H1870 the way H3068 which the LORD H7971 sent [H8804]   H935 me, and have brought [H8686]   H90 Agag H4428 the king H6002 of Amalek H2763 , and have utterly destroyed [H8689]   H6002 the Amalekites.
H5971 But the people H3947 took [H8799]   H7998 of the spoil H6629 , sheep H1241 and oxen H7225 , the chief H2764 of the things which should have been utterly destroyed H2076 , to sacrifice [H8800]   H3068 unto the LORD H430 thy God H1537 in Gilgal.
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H3068 , Hath the LORD H2656 as great delight H5930 in burnt offerings H2077 and sacrifices H8085 , as in obeying [H8800]   H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H8085 ? Behold, to obey [H8800]   H2896 is better H2077 than sacrifice H7181 , and to hearken [H8687]   H2459 than the fat H352 of rams.
H4805 For rebellion H2403 is as the sin H7081 of witchcraft H6484 , and stubbornness [H8687]   H205 is as iniquity H8655 and idolatry H3988 . Because thou hast rejected [H8804]   H1697 the word H3068 of the LORD H3988 , he hath also rejected [H8799]   H4428 thee from being king.
H7586 And Saul H559 said [H8799]   H8050 unto Samuel H2398 , I have sinned [H8804]   H5674 : for I have transgressed [H8804]   H6310 the commandment H3068 of the LORD H1697 , and thy words H3372 : because I feared [H8804]   H5971 the people H8085 , and obeyed [H8799]   H6963 their voice.
H5375 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon [H8798]   H2403 my sin H7725 , and turn again [H8798]   H7812 with me, that I may worship [H8691]   H3068 the LORD.
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H7725 , I will not return [H8799]   H3988 with thee: for thou hast rejected [H8804]   H1697 the word H3068 of the LORD H3068 , and the LORD H3988 hath rejected [H8799]   H4428 thee from being king H3478 over Israel.
H8050 And as Samuel H5437 turned about [H8735]   H3212 to go away [H8800]   H2388 , he laid hold [H8686]   H3671 upon the skirt H4598 of his mantle H7167 , and it rent [H8735]  .
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H3068 unto him, The LORD H7167 hath rent [H8804]   H4468 the kingdom H3478 of Israel H3117 from thee this day H5414 , and hath given [H8804]   H7453 it to a neighbour H2896 of thine, that is better than thou.
H5331 And also the Strength H3478 of Israel H8266 will not lie [H8762]   H5162 nor repent [H8735]   H120 : for he is not a man H5162 , that he should repent [H8736]  .
H559 Then he said [H8799]   H2398 , I have sinned [H8804]   H3513 : yet honour [H8761]   H2205 me now, I pray thee, before the elders H5971 of my people H3478 , and before Israel H7725 , and turn again [H8798]   H7812 with me, that I may worship [H8694]   H3068 the LORD H430 thy God.
H8050 So Samuel H7725 turned again [H8799]   H310 after H7586 Saul H7586 ; and Saul H7812 worshipped [H8691]   H3068 the LORD.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H8050 Samuel H5066 , Bring ye hither [H8685]   H90 to me Agag H4428 the king H6002 of the Amalekites H90 . And Agag H3212 came [H8799]   H4574 unto him delicately H90 . And Agag H559 said [H8799]   H403 , Surely H4751 the bitterness H4194 of death H5493 is past [H8804]  .
H8050 And Samuel H559 said [H8799]   H2719 , As thy sword H802 hath made women H7921 childless [H8765]   H517 , so shall thy mother H7921 be childless [H8799]   H802 among women H8050 . And Samuel H8158 hewed H90 Agag H8158 in pieces [H8762]   H6440 before H3068 the LORD H1537 in Gilgal.
H8050 Then Samuel H3212 went [H8799]   H7414 to Ramah H7586 ; and Saul H5927 went up [H8804]   H1004 to his house H1390 to Gibeah H7586 of Saul.
H8050 And Samuel H3254 came no more [H8804]   H7200 to see [H8800]   H7586 Saul H3117 until the day H4194 of his death H3588 : nevertheless H8050 Samuel H56 mourned [H8694]   H7586 for Saul H3068 : and the LORD H5162 repented [H8738]   H7586 that he had made Saul H4427 king [H8689]   H3478 over Israel.
KJV(i) 1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD. 2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. 3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah. 5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley. 6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. 7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt. 8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly. 10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, 11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night. 12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal. 13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD. 14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear? 15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed. 16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. 17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel? 18 And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. 19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD? 20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. 21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal. 22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD. 26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel. 27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. 28 And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou. 29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. 30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God. 31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD. 32 Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past. 33 And Samuel said, As the sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal. 34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul. 35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
