  1 H3378 Then Jerubbaal, H1439 who is Gideon, H5971 and all the people H7925 [H8686] that were with him, rose early, H2583 [H8799] and encamped H5878 beside the well of Harod: H4264 so that the host H4080 of the Midianites H6828 were on the north side H1389 of them, by the hill H4176 of Moreh, H6010 in the valley.
  2 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H1439 to Gideon, H5971 The people H7227 that are with thee are too many H5414 [H8800] for me to give H4080 the Midianites H3027 into their hands, H3478 lest Israel H6286 [H8691] vaunt H559 [H8800] themselves against me, saying, H3027 My own hand H3467 [H8689] hath liberated me.
  3 H4994 Now therefore, H7121 [H8798] call H241 in the ears H5971 of the people, H559 [H8800] saying, H3373 Whoever is fearful H2730 and afraid, H7725 [H8799] let him return H6852 [H8799] and depart early H2022 from mount H1568 Gilead. H7725 [H8799] And there returned H5971 of the people H6242 twenty H8147 and two H505 thousand; H7604 [H8738] and there remained H6235 ten H505 thousand.
  4 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H1439 to Gideon, H5971 The people H7227 are yet too many; H3381 [H8685] bring them down H4325 to the water, H6884 [H8799] and I will refine H559 [H8799] them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say H3212 [H8799] to thee, This shall go H3212 [H8799] with thee, the same shall go H559 [H8799] with thee; and of whomever I say H3212 [H8799] to thee, This shall not go H3212 [H8799] with thee, the same shall not go.
  5 H3381 [H8686] So he brought down H5971 the people H4325 to the water: H3068 and the LORD H559 [H8799] said H1439 to Gideon, H3952 [H8799] Every one that lappeth H4325 of the water H3956 with his tongue, H3611 as a dog H3952 [H8799] lappeth, H3322 [H8686] him shalt thou set H3766 [H8799] by himself; likewise every one that boweth down H1290 upon his knees H8354 [H8800] to drink.
  6 H4557 And the number H3952 [H8764] of them that lapped, H3027 putting their hand H6310 to their mouth, H7969 were three H3967 hundred H376 men: H3499 but all the rest H5971 of the people H3766 [H8804] bowed down H1290 upon their knees H8354 [H8800] to drink H4325 water.
  7 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H1439 to Gideon, H7969 By the three H3967 hundred H376 men H3952 [H8764] that lapped H3467 [H8686] will I liberate H5414 [H8804] you, and give H4080 the Midianites H3027 into thine hand: H5971 and let all the other people H3212 [H8799] go H376 every man H4725 to his place.
  8 H5971 So the people H3947 [H8799] took H6720 provisions H3027 in their hand, H7782 and their shofars: H7971 [H8765] and he sent H376 all H3478 the rest of Israel H376 every man H168 to his tent, H2388 [H8689] and retained H7969 those three H3967 hundred H376 men: H4264 and the host H4080 of Midian H6010 was beneath him in the valley.
  9 H3915 And it came to pass the same night, H3068 that the LORD H559 [H8799] said H6965 [H8798] to him, Arise, H3381 [H8798] go down H4264 to the host; H5414 [H8804] for I have given H3027 it into thine hand.
  10 H3373 But if thou fearest H3381 [H8800] to go down, H3381 0 go H6513 thou with Phurah H5288 thy servant H3381 [H8798] down H4264 to the host:
  11 H8085 [H8804] And thou shalt hear H1696 [H8762] what they say; H310 and afterward H3027 shall thine hands H2388 [H8799] be strengthened H3381 [H8804] to go down H4264 to the host. H3381 [H8799] Then went he down H6513 with Phurah H5288 his servant H7097 to the outside H2571 of the armed men H4264 that were in the host.
  12 H4080 And the Midianites H6002 and the Amalekites H1121 and all the sons H6924 of the east H5307 [H8802] lay H6010 along in the valley H697 like grasshoppers H7230 for abundance; H1581 and their camels H4557 were without number, H2344 as the sand H3220 by the sea H8193 side H7230 for abundance.
  13 H1439 And when Gideon H935 [H8799] had come, H376 behold, there was a man H5608 [H8764] that told H2472 a dream H7453 to his friend, H559 [H8799] and said, H2492 [H8804] Behold, I dreamed H2472 a dream, H6742 H6742 [H8675] and, lo, a cake H8184 of barley H3899 bread H2015 [H8693] rolled H4264 into the host H4080 of Midian, H935 [H8799] and came H168 to a tent, H5221 [H8686] and smote H5307 [H8799] it that it fell, H2015 H4605 [H8799] and overturned H168 it, that the tent H5307 [H8804] lay flat.
  14 H7453 And his friend H6030 [H8799] answered H559 [H8799] and said, H2719 This is nothing else except the sword H1439 of Gideon H1121 the son H3101 of Joash, H376 a man H3478 of Israel: H3027 for into his hand H430 hath God H5414 [H8804] given H4080 Midian, H4264 and all the host.
  15 H1439 And it was so, when Gideon H8085 [H8800] heard H4557 the telling H2472 of the dream, H7667 and its interpretation, H7812 [H8691] that he worshipped, H7725 [H8799] and returned H4264 to the host H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8799] and said, H6965 [H8798] Arise; H3068 for the LORD H5414 [H8804] hath given H3027 into your hand H4264 the host H4080 of Midian.
  16 H2673 [H8799] And he divided H7969 the three H3967 hundred H376 men H7969 into three H7218 companies, H5414 [H8799] and he put H7782 a shofar H3027 in every man's hand, H7386 with empty H3537 pitchers, H3940 and lamps H8432 within H3537 the pitchers.
  17 H559 [H8799] And he said H7200 [H8799] to them, Look H6213 [H8799] on me, and do H935 [H8802] likewise: and, behold, when I come H7097 to the outside H4264 of the camp, H6213 [H8799] it shall be that, as I do, H6213 [H8799] so shall ye do.
  18 H8628 [H8804] When I blow H7782 with a shofar, H8628 [H8804] I and all that are with me, then blow H7782 ye the shofars H5439 also on every side H4264 of all the camp, H559 [H8804] and say, H3068 The sword of the LORD, H1439 and of Gideon.
  19 H1439 So Gideon, H3967 and the hundred H376 men H935 [H8799] that were with him, came H7097 to the outside H4264 of the camp H7218 in the beginning H8484 of the middle H821 watch; H389 and they had but H6965 [H8687] newly H6965 [H8689] set H8104 [H8802] the watch: H8628 [H8799] and they blew H7782 the shofars, H5310 [H8800] and broke H3537 the pitchers H3027 that were in their hands.
  20 H7969 And the three H7218 companies H8628 [H8799] blew H7782 the shofars, H7665 [H8799] and broke H3537 the pitchers, H2388 [H8686] and held H3940 the lamps H8040 in their left H3027 hands, H7782 and the shofars H3225 in their right H3027 hands H8628 [H8800] to blow H7121 [H8799] with: and they called, H2719 The sword H3068 of the LORD, H1439 and of Gideon.
  21 H5975 [H8799] And they stood H376 every man H5439 in his place around H4264 the camp: H4264 and all the host H7323 [H8799] ran, H7321 [H8686] and shouted, H5127 H5127 [H8799] and fled.
  22 H7969 And the three H3967 hundred H8628 [H8799] blew H7782 the shofars, H3068 and the LORD H7760 [H8799] set H376 every man's H2719 sword H7453 against his companion, H4264 even throughout all the host: H4264 and the host H5127 [H8799] fled H1029 to Bethshittah H6888 in Zererath, H8193 and to the border H65 of Abelmeholah, H2888 to Tabbath.
  23 H9001 And H376 the men H3478 of Israel H6817 [H8735] called themselves together H9006 from H5321 Naphtali, H9002 and H4480 out of H836 Asher, H9002 and H4480 out of H3605 all H4519 Manasseh, H9001 and H7291 [H8799] pursued H310 behind H4080 the Midianites.
  24 H1439 And Gideon H7971 [H8804] sent H4397 messengers H2022 throughout all mount H669 Ephraim, H559 [H8800] saying, H3381 [H8798] Come down H7125 [H8800] against H4080 the Midianites, H3920 [H8798] and take H4325 before them the waters H1012 to Bethbarah H3383 and Jordan. H376 Then all the men H669 of Ephraim H6817 [H8735] called themselves together, H3920 [H8799] and took H4325 the waters H1012 to Bethbarah H3383 and Jordan.
  25 H3920 [H8799] And they took H8147 two H8269 princes H4080 of the Midianites, H6159 Oreb H2062 and Zeeb; H2026 [H8799] and they slew H6159 Oreb H6697 upon the rock H6159 Oreb, H2062 and Zeeb H2026 [H8804] they slew H3342 at the winepress H2062 of Zeeb, H7291 [H8799] and pursued H4080 Midian, H935 [H8689] and brought H7218 the heads H6159 of Oreb H2062 and Zeeb H1439 to Gideon H5676 on the other side H3383 of Jordan.
