10 H1 So his father H3381 [H8799] went down H802 to the woman: H8123 and Samson H6213 [H8799] made H4960 there a feast; H970 for so used the young men H6213 [H8799] to do.
11 H7200 [H8800] And it came to pass, when they saw H3947 [H8799] him, that they brought H7970 thirty H4828 companions to be with him.
12 H8123 And Samson H559 [H8799] said H2330 [H8799] to them, I will now tell H2420 a riddle H5046 [H8687] to you: if ye can certainly H5046 [H8686] declare H7651 it me within the seven H3117 days H4960 of the feast, H4672 [H8804] and find it out, H5414 [H8804] then I will give H7970 you thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments:
13 H3201 [H8799] But if ye cannot H5046 [H8687] declare H5414 [H8804] it to me, then shall ye give H7970 me thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments. H559 [H8799] And they said H2330 [H8798] to him, Tell H2420 thy riddle, H8085 [H8799] that we may hear it.
14 H559 [H8799] And he said H398 [H8802] to them, Out of the eater H3318 [H8804] came forth H3978 food, H5794 and out of the strong H3318 [H8804] came forth H4966 sweetness. H3201 [H8804] And they could H7969 not in three H3117 days H5046 [H8687] expound H2420 the riddle.
15 H7637 And it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day, H559 [H8799] that they said H8123 to Samson's H802 wife, H6601 [H8761] Entice H376 thy husband, H5046 [H8686] that he may declare H2420 to us the riddle, H8313 [H8799] lest we burn H1 thee and thy father's H1004 house H784 with fire: H7121 [H8804] have ye called H3423 [H8800] us to take what we possess? is it not so?
16 H8123 And Samson's H802 wife H1058 [H8799] wept H559 [H8799] before him, and said, H8130 [H8804] Thou dost but hate H157 [H8804] me, and lovest H2330 [H8804] me not: thou hast told H2420 a riddle H1121 to the sons H5971 of my people, H5046 [H8689] and hast not told H559 [H8799] it to me. And he said H5046 [H8689] to her, Behold, I have not told H1 it to my father H517 nor to my mother, H5046 [H8686] and shall I tell it to thee?
17 H1058 [H8799] And she wept H7651 before him the seven H3117 days, H4960 while their feast H1961 [H8804] lasted: H7637 and it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day, H5046 [H8686] that he told H6693 [H8689] her, because she pressed him so hard: H5046 [H8686] and she told H2420 the riddle H1121 to the sons H5971 of her people.
18 H582 And the men H5892 of the city H559 [H8799] said H7637 to him on the seventh H3117 day H2775 before the sun H935 [H8799] went down, H4966 What is sweeter H1706 than honey? DouayRheims(i) 10 So his father went down to the woman, and made a feast for his son Samson: for so the young men used to do. 11 And when the citizens of that place saw him, they brought him thirty companions to be with him. 12 And Samson said to them: I will propose to you a riddle, which if you declare unto me within the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty shirts, and as many coats: 13 But if you shall not be able to declare it, you shall give me thirty shirts and the same number of coats. But he answered: I would not tell it to my father and mother: and how can I tell it to thee? 17 So she wept before him the seven days of the feast: and, at length, on the seventh day, as she was troublesome to him, he expounded it.   10 H1 So his father H3381 went down [H8799]   H802 unto the woman H8123 : and Samson H6213 made [H8799]   H4960 there a feast H970 ; for so used the young men H6213 to do [H8799]  .
11 H7200 And it came to pass, when they saw [H8800]   H3947 him, that they brought [H8799]   H7970 thirty H4828 companions to be with him.
  12 H8123 And Samson H559 said [H8799]   H2330 unto them, I will now put forth [H8799]   H2420 a riddle H5046 unto you: if ye can certainly [H8687]   H5046 declare [H8686]   H7651 it me within the seven H3117 days H4960 of the feast H4672 , and find it out [H8804]   H5414 , then I will give [H8804]   H7970 you thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments:
13 H3201 But if ye cannot [H8799]   H5046 declare [H8687]   H5414 it me, then shall ye give [H8804]   H7970 me thirty H5466 sheets H7970 and thirty H2487 change H899 of garments H559 . And they said [H8799]   H2330 unto him, Put forth [H8798]   H2420 thy riddle H8085 , that we may hear [H8799]   it.
  14 H559 And he said [H8799]   H398 unto them, Out of the eater [H8802]   H3318 came forth [H8804]   H3978 meat H5794 , and out of the strong H3318 came forth [H8804]   H4966 sweetness H3201 . And they could [H8804]   H7969 not in three H3117 days H5046 expound [H8687]   H2420 the riddle.
15 H7637 And it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day H559 , that they said [H8799]   H8123 unto Samson's H802 wife H6601 , Entice [H8761]   H376 thy husband H5046 , that he may declare [H8686]   H2420 unto us the riddle H8313 , lest we burn [H8799]   H1 thee and thy father's H1004 house H784 with fire H7121 : have ye called [H8804]   H3423 us to take that we have [H8800]  ? is it not so ?
16 H8123 And Samson's H802 wife H1058 wept [H8799]   H559 before him, and said [H8799]   H8130 , Thou dost but hate [H8804]   H157 me, and lovest [H8804]   H2330 me not: thou hast put forth [H8804]   H2420 a riddle H1121 unto the children H5971 of my people H5046 , and hast not told [H8689]   H559 it me. And he said [H8799]   H5046 unto her, Behold, I have not told [H8689]   H1 it my father H517 nor my mother H5046 , and shall I tell [H8686]   it thee?
17 H1058 And she wept [H8799]   H7651 before him the seven H3117 days H4960 , while their feast H1961 lasted [H8804]   H7637 : and it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day H5046 , that he told [H8686]   H6693 her, because she lay sore [H8689]   H5046 upon him: and she told [H8686]   H2420 the riddle H1121 to the children H5971 of her people.
18 H582 And the men H5892 of the city H559 said [H8799]   H7637 unto him on the seventh H3117 day H2775 before the sun H935 went down [H8799]   H4966 , What is sweeter H1706 than honey H5794 ? and what is stronger H738 than a lion H559 ? And he said [H8799]   H3884 unto them, If H2790 ye had not plowed [H8804]   H5697 with my heifer H4672 , ye had not found out [H8804]   H2420 my riddle.
Thomson(i) 10 And when his father went down to the woman, Sampson made an entertainment there seven days; for so young men usually do. 11 Now when they saw him, they made choice of thirty men to be with him. 12 And Sampson said to them, I will propound to you a riddle; if you explain it during the seven days of the entertainment, or find out the meaning of it, I will give you thirty Sindons, and thirty suits of apparel: 13 but if you cannot tell me, you shall give me thirty Sindons and thirty changes of apparel. And they said, Propound thy riddle that we may hear it. 14 Then he said to them, What eatable came from the eater; and, from the fierce, what that is sweet? 15 And when in the course of three days they could not explain the riddle, they on the fourth day said to Sampson's wife, Ask we pray thee thy husband, and get him to explain the riddle to thee, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire. Have you invited us to do us an injury? 16 So Sampson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and hast not loved me; for thou hast not told me the riddle which thou hast propounded to the children of my people. And Sampson said to her, If I have not told it to my father and my mother, should I tell thee? 17 But as she continued to weep before him, during the seven days, while the feast lasted, he at length on the seventh clay told her, because she importuned him; and she told the children of her people. 18 So the men of the city said to him on the seventh day, before the sun was set, What is sweeter than honey, and what fiercer than a lion? Upon which Sampson said to them, If you had not ploughed with my heifer, you would not have known my riddle.
Webster(i) 10 So his father went down to the woman: and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. 11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. 12 And Samson said to them, I will now propose a riddle to you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: 13 But if ye cannot declare it to me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said to him, propose thy riddle, that we may hear it. 14 And he said to them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take what we possess? is it not so? 16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast proposed a riddle to the children of my people, and hast not told it to me. And he said to her, Behold, I have not told it to my father nor to my mother, and shall I tell it to thee? 17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she urged him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. 18 And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.

Leeser(i) 10 And his father went down unto the woman; and Samson made there a feast; for so used the young men to do. 11 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions, and they remained with him. 12 And Samson said unto them, I will now propound unto you a riddle; if ye can in anywise tell it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then will I give you thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments; 13 But if ye will not be able to tell it to me, then shall ye give me thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments. And they said unto him, Propound thy riddle, that we may hear it. 14 And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not solve the riddle in three days. 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Persuade thy husband, that he may solve unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye invited us to impoverish us? is it not so? 16 And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou doest but hate me, and lovest me not: that riddle hast thou propounded unto the children of my people, and me hast thou not told the solution. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it to my father and to my mother, and thee shall I tell it? 17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted; and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she had worried him: and she told the solution of the riddle to the children of her people. 18 Then said unto him the men of the city on the seventh day before the sun was yet gone down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not ploughed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.

14 H559 He said H398 to them, "Out of the eater H3318 came forth H3978 food. H5794 Out of the strong H3318 came forth H4966 sweetness." H3201 They couldn't H7969 in three H3117 days H5046 declare H2420 the riddle.
15 H7637 It happened on the seventh H3117 day, H559 that they said H8123 to Samson's H802 wife, H6601 "Entice H376 your husband, H5046 that he may declare H2420 to us the riddle, H8313 lest we burn H1 you and your father's H1004 house H784 with fire.   16 H8123 Samson's H802 wife H1058 wept H559 before him, and said, H8130 "You just hate H157 me, and don't love H2330 me. NSB(i) 10 Samson’s father went to the woman’s house. Samson gave a banquet there. This was a custom among the young men. 11 The Philistines saw him. They sent thirty companions to stay with him. 12 Samson said to them: »Let me tell you a riddle. If you can tell me the meaning before the seven days of the wedding feast are over, I will give each of you a piece of fine linen and a change of fine clothes.« »Tell us your riddle,« they said: »Let us hear it.« 13 »If you cannot tell me the answer you must give me thirty pieces of fine linen and thirty sets of fine clothes.« »Tell us the riddle,« they said. 14 He said: »Out of the eater came something to eat; Out of the strong came something sweet.« Three days later they still could not figure out the riddle. 15 On the fourth day they said to Samson’s wife: »Trick your husband into telling us what the riddle means. If you do not, we will burn your father’s house with you in it. Did you invite us here to rob us?« 16 Samson’s wife approached him in tears and said: »You do not love me! You just hate me! You told my friends a riddle and did not tell me it’s meaning!« He said: »I have not told my father and mother. Why should I tell you?« 17 She cried about it for the whole seven days of the feast. She nagged him so that on the seventh day he told her what the riddle meant. Then she told the Philistines. 18 On the seventh day, before Samson went into the bedroom, the men of the city said to him: »What could be sweeter than honey? What could be stronger than a lion?« Samson replied: »If you had not been plowing with my cow, you would not know the answer now.«
ISV(i) 10 Samson’s RiddleLater on, when his father went down to visit the woman, Samson threw a party there, since young men customarily did this. 11 When they saw him, they brought 30 companions to accompany him. 12 “Let me tell you a riddle,” Samson told them. “If you can solve it during this week-long festival, I’ll give you 30 linen garments and 30 formal garments. 13 But if you don’t solve it, then you’ll give me 30 linen garments and 30 formal garments.”
“Tell us your riddle and we’ll solve it,” they responded.
14 So he told them: From the eater came something edible; from the strong something sweet.
For three days they couldn’t solve the riddle.
15 The next day, they told Samson’s wife, “Coax your husband to explain the riddle or we’ll set fire to your father’s house—with you in it! You’ve invited us here to make us paupers, haven’t you?”
16 So Samson’s wife cried in front of him and accused him, “You only hate me. You don’t love me. You’ve told a riddle to my relatives, but you haven’t told the solution to me.”
Samson responded, “Look, I haven’t told my parents, either. Why should I tell you?”
17 So she kept on crying in front of him for the entire seven days of the wedding party. On the seventh day he told the solution to her because she nagged him, and then she told the solution to the riddle to her relatives.
18 Then the men of the city answered him just before sunset on the seventh day: “What’s sweeter than honey? What’s stronger than lions?”
Samson responded, “If you hadn’t plowed with my heifer you wouldn’t have solved my riddle.”
LEB(i) 10 His father went down to the woman, and Samson prepared there a feast, as young men were accustomed to doing this. 11 When they saw him, they took thirty companions, and they were with him. 12 And Samson said to them, "Let me tell you a riddle. If you can fully explain it to me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, I will give to you thirty linen garments and thirty festal garments. 13 But if you are unable to explain it to me, you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty festal garments." So they said to him, "Tell your riddle; let us hear it." 14 He said to them,
"From the eater came out food, From the strong came out sweet."
But they were unable to explain the riddle for three days. 15 When it was the fourth* day, they said to Samson's wife, "Entice your husband and tell us the riddle, or we will burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you invited us to rob us?" 16 And Samson's wife wept before him, and she said, "You must hate me; you do not love me. You told the riddle to my people,* but you have not explained it to me." He said to her, "I have not explained it to my father and mother. Why should I explain it to you?" 17 She wept before him the seven days of their feast; and it happened, because she nagged him, on the seventh day he explained it to her, and she told the riddle to her people.* 18 The men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down,
"What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?"
And he said to them,
"If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found out my riddle."
BSB(i) 10 Then his father went to visit the woman, and Samson prepared a feast there, as was customary for the bridegroom. 11 And when the Philistines saw him, they selected thirty men to accompany him. 12 “Let me tell you a riddle,” Samson said to them. “If you can solve it for me within the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes. 13 But if you cannot solve it, you must give me thirty linen garments and thirty sets of clothes.” “Tell us your riddle,” they replied. “Let us hear it.” 14 So he said to them: “Out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet.” For three days they were unable to explain the riddle. 15 So on the fourth day they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband to explain the riddle to us, or we will burn you and your father’s household to death. Did you invite us here to rob us?” 16 Then Samson’s wife came to him, weeping, and said, “You hate me! You do not really love me! You have posed to my people a riddle, but have not explained it to me.” “Look,” he said, “I have not even explained it to my father or mother, so why should I explain it to you?” 17 She wept the whole seven days of the feast, and finally on the seventh day, because she had pressed him so much, he told her the answer. And in turn she explained the riddle to her people. 18 Before sunset on the seventh day, the men of the city said to Samson: “What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?” So he said to them: “If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have solved my riddle!”
MSB(i) 10 Then his father went to visit the woman, and Samson prepared a feast there, as was customary for the bridegroom.
MLV(i) 10 And his father went down to the woman and Samson made a feast there, for so the young men used to do. 11 And it happened, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 And Samson said to them, Let me now put forth a riddle to you*. If you* can declare it to me within the seven days of the feast and find it out, then I will give you* thirty linen garments and thirty changes of garments, 13 but if you* cannot declare it to me, then you* will give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of garments.
And they said to him, Put forth your riddle, that we may hear it. 14 And he said to them, Out of the eater came out food and out of the strong came out sweetness. And they could not in three days declare the riddle.
15 And it happened on the seventh day, that they said to Samson's wife, Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you* called us to impoverish us? Is it not so?
16 And Samson's wife wept before him and said, You do but hate me and not love me. You have put forth a riddle to the sons of my people and have not told it to me. And he said to her, Behold, I have not told it to my father nor my mother and shall I tell you?
17 And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted. And it happened on the seventh day, that he told her because she pressed him greatly. And she told the riddle to the sons of her people.
18 And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them, If you* had not plowed with my heifer, you* would not have found out my riddle.
VIN(i) 10 And his father went down to the woman. And Samson made a feast there, for so the young men used to do. 11 When they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him. 12 Samson said to them, Let me tell you a riddle now. If you can give me the answer within the seven days of the feast, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing. 13 "If you cannot tell me the answer you must give me thirty pieces of fine linen and thirty sets of fine clothes." "Tell us the riddle," they said. 14 So he said to them: From the eater came something edible; from the strong something sweet. For three days they couldn't solve the riddle. 15 On the fourth day they said to Samson's wife, Entice your husband to tell us the riddle, or we will burn you and your father's house with fire. Have you called us here to mock us? 16 Samson's wife wept before him and said, You must hate me, and don't love me. You have given a riddle to my people but you haven't told it me. He said to her, I haven't even told it to my father or my mother; why should I tell you? 17 She wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted; and on the seventh day, he told her, because she pressed him severely; and she told the riddle to the children of her people. 18 And they, on the seventh day before the sun went down, said to him: What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said to them: If you had not ploughed with my heifer, you had not found out my riddle.

Dhe ai iu përgjegj atyre: "Po të mos kishit lëruar me mëshqerrën time, nuk do ta kishit zgjidhur gjëzën time".

A on im odgovori: "Da niste s mojom junicom orali, ne biste zagonetke pogodili."
12 I řekl jim Samson: Vydám vám pohádku, kterouž jestliže mi právě vysvětlíte za sedm dní těchto hodů a uhodnete, dám vám třidceti čechlů a třidcatero roucho proměnné. 13 Jestliže mi pak nebudete moci uhodnouti, dáte vy mně třidceti čechlů a třidcatero roucho proměnné. Kteříž odpověděli jemu: Vydej pohádku svou, ať ji slyšíme. 14 I řekl jim: Z zžírajícího vyšel pokrm, a z silného vyšla sladkost. I nemohli uhodnouti pohádky té za tři dni. 15 Stalo se pak dne sedmého, (nebo byli řekli ženě Samsonově: Namluv muže svého, ať nám vyloží tu pohádku, ať nespálíme tě i domu otce tvého ohněm. Proto-liž, abyste našeho statku dostali, pozvali jste nás? Či co? 16 I plakala žena Samsonova na něj, řkuci: Jistě nenávidíš mne a nemiluješ mne; pohádku jsi vydal synům lidu mého, a mně jí nechceš povědíti. Kterýž řekl jí: Hle, otci mému a mateři neoznámil jsem, a tobě mám povědíti? 17 I plakala na něj do sedmého dne,v nichž měli hody). Dne tedy sedmého pověděl jí, nebo trápila jej; kterážto oznámila pohádku synům lidu svého. 18 Muži tedy města toho dne sedmého, prvé než slunce zapadlo, řekli jemu: Co sladšího nad med, a co silnějšího nad lva?

Finnish(i) 10 Ja kuin hänen isänsä tuli alas vaimon tykö, valmisti Simson siellä häät, niinkuin nuoren väen tapa oli. 11 Ja kuin he näkivät hänen, antoivat he hänelle kolmekymmentä kansalaista, hänen tykönänsä olemaan. Ja he sanoivat hänelle: annas meidän kuulla arvoitukses. 15 Ja seitsemäntenä päivänä puhuivat he Simsonin emännälle: houkuttele miestäs ilmoittamaan meille arvoitusta, taikka me poltamme sinun ja sinun isäs huoneen tulella.
11 Mutta kun he näkivät hänet, valitsivat he kolmekymmentä sulhaspoikaa olemaan hänen kanssaan. Mutta he eivät voineet kolmeen päivään selittää arvoitusta. 15 Seitsemäntenä päivänä he sanoivat Simsonin vaimolle: "Viekoittele miehesi selittämään meille arvoitus, muuten me poltamme sinut ja sinun isäsi talon tulella.

Lèfini fanm lan soti al di ras li yo sa kont lan vle di. 18 Se konsa, sou setyèm jou a, anvan Samson antre nan chanm li pou l' al dòmi, mesye lavil yo di l' konsa: -Kisa ki pi dous pase siwo myèl? Kisa ki gen plis fòs pase lyon? Samson di yo: -Si nou pa t' travay tèt madanm mwen, nou pa ta janm jwenn kont mwen an!

Tu užminei mįslę mano tautos sūnums, o man jos nesakai”. Jis jai tarė: “Aš jos nepasakiau nei savo tėvui, nei motinai, kodėl turėčiau tau ją pasakyti?” 17 Ji verkė septynias dienas, kol vyko puota. Septintą dieną, netekęs kantrybės, jis pasakė mįslės įminimą. Ji viską pasakė savo tautos sūnums. 18 Septintą dieną, prieš saulės nusileidimą, miesto vyrai Samsonui tarė: “Kas saldesnis už medų? Ir kas stipresnis už liūtą?” Jis jiems atsakė: “Jei nebūtumėte arę su mano telyčia, nebūtumėt įminę mįslės”.
PBG(i) 10 tedy szedł ojciec jego do onej niewiasty, i sprawił tam Samson wesele; bo tak czyniwali młodzieńcy. 11 A gdy go ujrzeli Filistyni, wzięli trzydzieści towarzyszów, aby byli przy nim. 12 Do których rzekł Samson: Zadam wam zagadkę, a jeźli ją zgadniecie przez siedem dni wesela i wyłożycie mi ją, tedy wam dam trzydzieści prześcieradeł, i trzydzieści szat odmiennych. 13 A jeźliż mi jej nie zgadniecie, tedy wy mnie dacie trzydzieści prześcieradeł, i trzydzieści szat odmiennych; którzy mu odpowiedzieli: Zadaj zagadkę twoję; a będziemy jej słuchali. A ona powiedziała onę zagadkę synom ludu swego. 18 Przetoż rzekli do niego mężowie onego miasta siódmego dnia przed zachodem słońca: Cóż słodszego nad miód, a co mocniejszego nad lwa? którym on odpowiedział: Byście byli nie orali jałowicą moją, nie zgadlibyście byli zagadki mojej.
14 Então lhes disse: Do que come saiu comida, e do forte saiu doçura.
