4 H559 ויאמר Then said H3068 יהוה the LORD H413 אל unto H4872 משׁה Moses, H2005 הנני H4305 ממטיר I will rain H3899 לכם לחם bread H4480 מן from H8064 השׁמים heaven H3318 ויצא shall go out H5971 העם for you; and the people H3950 ולקטו and gather H1697 דבר a certain rate every day, H3117 יום H3117 ביומו H4616 למען that H5254 אנסנו I may prove H1980 הילך them, whether they will walk H8451 בתורתי in my law, H518 אם or H3808 לא׃ no.

5 H1961 והיה And it shall come to pass, H3117 ביום day H8345 השׁשׁי that on the sixth H3559 והכינו they shall prepare H853 את H834 אשׁר which H935 יביאו they bring in; H1961 והיה and it shall be H4932 משׁנה twice H5921 על as much as H834 אשׁר as much as H3950 ילקטו they gather H3117 יום daily. H3117 יום׃ daily.

6 H559 ויאמר said H4872 משׁה And Moses H175 ואהרן and Aaron H413 אל unto H3605 כל all H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H6153 ערב At even, H3045 וידעתם then ye shall know H3588 כי that H3068 יהוה the LORD H3318 הוציא H853 אתכם H776 מארץ from the land H4714 מצרים׃ of Egypt:

7 H1242 ובקר And in the morning, H7200 וראיתם then ye shall see H853 את H3519 כבוד the glory H3068 יהוה of the LORD; H8085 בשׁמעו for that he heareth H853 את H8519 תלנתיכם your murmurings H5921 על against H3068 יהוה the LORD: H5168 ונחנו we, H4100 מה and what H3588 כי that H3885 תלונו ye murmur H5921 עלינו׃ against

8 H559 ויאמר said, H4872 משׁה And Moses H5414 בתת shall give H3068 יהוה when the LORD H6153 לכם בערב you in the evening H1320 בשׂר flesh H398 לאכל to eat, H3899 ולחם bread H1242 בבקר and in the morning H7646 לשׂבע to the full; H8085 בשׁמע heareth H3068 יהוה for that the LORD H853 את H8519 תלנתיכם your murmurings H834 אשׁר which H859 אתם ye H8519 מלינם your murmurings H5921 עליו against H5168 ונחנו we? 5 H8345 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth H3117 day H3559 [H8689] they shall prepare H834 that which H935 [H8686] they bring in; H4932 and it shall be twice H3950 [H8799] as much as they gather H3117 daily.

6 H4872 And Moses H175 and Aaron H559 [H8799] said H1121 to all the sons H3478 of Israel, H6153 At evening, H3045 [H8804] then ye shall know H3068 that the LORD H3318 [H8689] hath brought you out H776 from the land H4714 of Egypt:

You brought us out into this desert to let us all starve to death!« ⁴ Jehovah said to Moses: »I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions. ⁵ »They are to bring in twice as much as usual and prepare it on the sixth day.« ⁶ Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites: »This evening you will know that it was Jehovah who brought you out of Egypt. ⁷ »In the morning you will see the glory of Jehovah’s presence. He hears your complaints against him. But what are we that you complain against us?« ⁸ Moses said: »This will happen when Jehovah gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to eat in the morning. ISV⁽ⁱ⁾ ² The whole congregation of the Israelis complained against Moses and Aaron in the desert. ³ The Israelis told them, “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt when we sat by the cooking pots, when we ate bread until we were filled—because you brought us to this desert to kill this entire congregation with hunger.”
⁴ The LORD told Moses, “Listen very carefully! I’ll cause food to rain down for you from heaven, and the people are to go out and gather each day’s portion on that day. In this way I’ll test them to demonstrate whether or not they’ll live according to my instructions. ⁵ On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be double what they gather on other days.”
⁶ So Moses and Aaron addressed the entire congregation of the Israelis: “This evening you will know that the LORD has brought you out of the land of Egypt, ⁷ and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your complaints against him. After all, who are we that you complain against us?” ⁸ Moses also said, “When the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to satisfy you, the LORD will hear your complaints directed against him. Who are we? Your complaints aren’t against us, but rather against the LORD.”
⁹ Then Moses instructed Aaron, “Say to the whole congregation of the Israelis, ‘Come near into the LORD’s presence, because he has heard your complaints.’”
