all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron.
The Israelites said to them: "If only the LORD had allowed us to die in Egypt! There we sat by our pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted! You brought us out into this desert to let us all starve to death!"
the LORD said to Moses: "I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions.
And on the sixth day they are to make ready what they get in, and it will be twice as much as they get on the other days.
Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites: »This evening you will know that it was the LORD who brought you out of Egypt.
and in the morning, you will see the glory of the LORD, for he hears your grumblings against the LORD, and what are we that you grumble against us?"
Moses said: "This will happen when the LORD gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to eat in the morning. the LORD hears your complaints against him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the LORD."
Then Moses said to Aaron: Say to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, Come near before the LORD, for He has heard your grumblings.
