Jeremiah 29 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the rest of the elders who were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

1 H1697 Now these are the words H5612 of the letter H3414 that Jeremiah H5030 the prophet H7971 [H8804] sent H3389 from Jerusalem H3499 to the rest H2205 of the elders H1473 who were carried away captives, H3548 and to the priests, H5030 and to the prophets, H5971 and to all the people H5019 whom Nebuchadnezzar H1540 [H8689] had carried away captive H3389 from Jerusalem H894 to Babylon;

2 H310 (After H3204 Jeconiah H4428 the king, H1377 and the queen, H5631 and the eunuchs, H8269 the princes H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem, H2796 and the craftsmen, H4525 and the smiths, H3318 [H8800] had departed H3389 from Jerusalem;)

3 H3027 By the hand H501 of Elasah H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan, H1587 and Gemariah H1121 the son H2518 of Hilkiah, H6667 (whom Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H7971 [H8804] sent H894 to Babylon H5019 to Nebuchadnezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon) H559 [H8800] saying,

4 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H1473 to all that are carried away captives, H1540 [H8689] whom I have caused to be carried away H3389 from Jerusalem H894 to Babylon;

5 H1129 [H8798] Build H1004 ye houses, H3427 [H8798] and dwell H5193 [H8798] in them; and plant H1593 gardens, H398 [H8798] and eat H6529 the fruit of them;

6 H3947 [H8798] Take H802 ye wives, H3205 [H8685] and beget H1121 sons H1323 and daughters; H3947 [H8798] and take H802 wives H1121 for your sons, H5414 [H8798] and give H1323 your daughters H582 to husbands, H3205 [H8799] that they may bear H1121 sons H1121 and daughters; H7235 [H8798] that ye may be increased H4591 [H8799] there, and not diminished.

7 H1875 [H8798] And seek H7965 the peace H5892 of the city H1540 [H8689] where I have caused you to be carried away captives, H6419 [H8690] and pray H3068 to the LORD H7965 for it: for in the peace H7965 of it ye shall have peace.

8 H559 [H8804] For thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel; H5030 Let not your prophets H7080 [H8802] and your diviners, H7130 that are in the midst H5377 [H8686] of you, deceive H8085 [H8799] you, neither hearken H2472 to your dreams H2492 [H8688] which ye cause to be dreamed.

9 H5012 [H8737] For they prophesy H8267 falsely H8034 to you in my name: H7971 [H8804] I have not sent H5002 [H8803] them, saith H3068 the LORD.

10 H559 [H8804] For thus saith H3068 the LORD, H6310 That after H7657 seventy H8141 years H4390 [H8800] shall be accomplished H894 at Babylon H6485 [H8799] I will visit H6965 [H8689] you, and raise H2896 my good H1697 word H7725 [H8687] toward you, in causing you to return H4725 to this place.

11 H3045 [H8804] For I know H4284 the thoughts H2803 [H8802] that I think H5002 [H8803] toward you, saith H3068 the LORD, H4284 thoughts H7965 of peace, H7451 and not of evil, H5414 [H8800] to give H8615 you an expected H319 end.

12 H7121 [H8804] Then shall ye call H1980 [H8804] upon me, and ye shall go H6419 [H8694] and pray H8085 [H8804] to me, and I will hearken to you.

13 H1245 [H8765] And ye shall seek H4672 [H8804] me, and find H1875 [H8799] me, when ye shall search H3824 for me with all your heart.

14 H4672 [H8738] And I will be found H5002 [H8803] by you, saith H3068 the LORD: H7725 [H8804] and I will turn away H7622 H7622 [H8675] your captivity, H6908 [H8765] and I will gather H1471 you from all the nations, H4725 and from all the places H5080 [H8689] where I have driven H5002 [H8803] you, saith H3068 the LORD; H7725 [H8689] and I will bring you again H4725 into the place H1540 [H8689] from which I caused you to be carried away captive.

15 H559 [H8804] Because ye have said, H3068 The LORD H6965 [H8689] hath raised up H5030 for us prophets H894 in Babylon;

16 H559 [H8804] Know that thus saith H3068 the LORD H4428 concerning the king H3427 [H8802] that sitteth H3678 upon the throne H1732 of David, H5971 and concerning all the people H3427 [H8802] that dwelleth H5892 in this city, H251 and concerning your brethren H3318 [H8804] that are not gone forth H1473 with you into captivity;

17 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts; H7971 [H8764] Behold, I will send H2719 upon them the sword, H7458 the famine, H1698 and the pestilence, H5414 [H8804] and will make H8182 them like vile H8384 figs, H398 [H8735] that cannot be eaten, H7455 they are so bad.

18 H7291 [H8804] And I will persecute H310 them H2719 with the sword, H7458 with the famine, H1698 and with the pestilence, H5414 [H8804] and will give H2189 H2113 [H8675] them to be removed H4467 to all the kingdoms H776 of the earth, H423 to be a curse, H8047 and an horror, H8322 and an hissing, H2781 and a reproach, H1471 among all the nations H5080 [H8689] where I have driven them:

19 H8085 [H8804] Because they have not hearkened H1697 to my words, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD, H7971 [H8804] which I sent H5650 to them by my servants H5030 the prophets, H7925 [H8687] rising early H7971 [H8800] and sending H8085 [H8804] them; but ye would not hear, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD.

20 H8085 [H8798] Hear H1697 ye therefore the word H3068 of the LORD, H1473 all ye of the captivity, H7971 [H8765] whom I have sent H3389 from Jerusalem H894 to Babylon:

21 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H256 concerning Ahab H1121 the son H6964 of Kolaiah, H6667 and concerning Zedekiah H1121 the son H4641 of Maaseiah, H5012 [H8737] who prophesy H8267 a lie H8034 to you in my name; H5414 [H8802] Behold, I will give H3027 them into the hand H5019 of Nebuchadnezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon; H5221 [H8689] and he shall slay H5869 them before your eyes;

22 H3947 [H8795] And concerning them shall be taken up H7045 a curse H1546 by all the captivity H3063 of Judah H894 who are in Babylon, H559 [H8800] saying, H3068 The LORD H7760 [H8799] make H6667 thee like Zedekiah H256 and like Ahab, H4428 whom the king H894 of Babylon H7033 [H8804] roasted H784 in the fire;

23 H6213 [H8804] Because they have committed H5039 villany H3478 in Israel, H6213 [H8804] and have committed H5003 [H8762] adultery H7453 with their neighbour's H802 wives, H1696 [H8762] and have spoken H8267 lying H1697 words H8034 in my name, H6680 [H8765] which I have not commanded H3045 [H8802] them; even I know, H5707 and am a witness, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD.

24 H559 [H8799] Thus shalt thou also speak H8098 to Shemaiah H5161 the Nehelamite, H559 [H8800] saying,

25 H559 [H8804] Thus speaketh H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8800] saying, H7971 [H8804] Because thou hast sent H5612 letters H8034 in thy name H5971 to all the people H3389 that are at Jerusalem, H6846 and to Zephaniah H1121 the son H4641 of Maaseiah H3548 the priest, H3548 and to all the priests, H559 [H8800] saying,

26 H3068 The LORD H5414 [H8804] hath made H3548 thee priest H3077 in the stead of Jehoiada H3548 the priest, H6496 that ye should be officers H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD, H376 for every man H7696 [H8794] that is mad, H5012 [H8693] and maketh himself a prophet, H5414 [H8804] that thou shouldest put H4115 him in prison, H6729 and in the stocks.

27 H1605 [H8804] Now therefore why hast thou not chided H3414 Jeremiah H6069 of Anathoth, H5012 [H8693] who maketh himself a prophet to you?

28 H7971 [H8804] For therefore he sent H894 to us in Babylon, H559 [H8800] saying, H1931 This H752 captivity is long: H1129 [H8798] build H1004 ye houses, H3427 [H8798] and dwell H5193 [H8798] in them; and plant H1593 gardens, H398 [H8798] and eat H6529 the fruit of them.

29 H6846 And Zephaniah H3548 the priest H7121 [H8799] read H5612 this letter H241 in the ears H3414 of Jeremiah H5030 the prophet.

30 H1697 Then came the word H3068 of the LORD H3414 to Jeremiah, H559 [H8800] saying,

31 H7971 [H8798] Send H1473 to all them of the captivity, H559 [H8800] saying, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H8098 concerning Shemaiah H5161 the Nehelamite; H8098 Because Shemaiah H5012 [H8738] hath prophesied H7971 [H8804] to you, and I sent H982 [H8686] him not, and he caused you to trust H8267 in a lie:

32 H559 [H8804] Therefore thus saith H3068 the LORD; H6485 [H8802] Behold, I will punish H8098 Shemaiah H5161 the Nehelamite, H2233 and his seed: H376 he shall not have a man H3427 [H8802] to dwell H8432 among H5971 this people; H7200 [H8799] neither shall he behold H2896 the good H6213 [H8802] that I will do H5971 for my people, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD; H1696 [H8765] because he hath taught H5627 rebellion H3068 against the LORD.
