Esther 9 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Judeans hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Judeans had rule over them that hated them;)

2 H3064 The Judeans H6950 [H8738] congregated themselves H5892 in their cities H4082 throughout all the provinces H4428 of the king H325 Ahasuerus, H7971 [H8800] to lay H3027 hand H1245 [H8764] on such as sought H7451 their harm: H376 and no man H5975 [H8804] could withstand H6440 them; H6343 for the fear H5307 [H8804] of them fell H5971 upon all people.

3 H8269 And all the princes H4082 of the provinces, H323 and the satraps, H6346 and the governors, H6213 H4399 [H8802] and officers H4428 of the king, H5375 [H8764] helped H3064 the Judeans; H6343 because the fear H4782 of Mordecai H5307 [H8804] fell upon them.

4 H4782 For Mordecai H1419 was great H4428 in the king's H1004 house, H8089 and his fame H1980 [H8802] went out H4082 throughout all the provinces: H376 for this man H4782 Mordecai H1980 [H8802] became H1419 greater and greater.

5 H3064 Thus the Judeans H5221 [H8686] smote H341 [H8802] all their enemies H4347 with the stroke H2719 of the sword, H2027 and slaughter, H12 and loss, H6213 [H8799] and did H7522 what they would H8130 [H8802] to those that hated them.

6 H7800 And in Shushan H1002 the palace H3064 the Judeans H2026 [H8804] slew H6 [H8763] and destroyed H2568 five H3967 hundred H376 men.

7 H6577 And Parshandatha, H1813 and Dalphon, H630 and Aspatha,

8 H6334 And Poratha, H118 and Adalia, H743 and Aridatha,

9 H6534 And Parmashta, H747 and Arisai, H742 and Aridai, H2055 and Vajezatha,

10 H6235 The ten H1121 sons H2001 of Haman H1121 the son H4099 of Hammedatha, H6887 [H8802] the one binding H3064 the Judeans, H2026 [H8804] they slew; H961 but on the spoil H7971 [H8804] they laid H3027 not their hand.

11 H3117 On that day H4557 the number H2026 [H8803] of those that were slain H7800 in Shushan H1002 the palace H935 [H8804] was brought H6440 at the face of H4428 the king.

12 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H635 to Esther H4436 the queen, H3064 The Judeans H2026 [H8804] have slain H6 [H8763] and destroyed H2568 five H3967 hundred H376 men H7800 in Shushan H1002 the palace, H6235 and the ten H1121 sons H2001 of Haman; H6213 [H8804] what have they done H7605 in the rest H4428 of the king's H4082 provinces? H7596 now what is thy petition? H5414 [H8735] and it shall be granted H1246 thee: or what is thy request H5750 further? H6213 [H8735] and it shall be done.

13 H559 [H8799] Then said H635 Esther, H2896 If it shall please H4428 the king, H5414 [H8735] let it be granted H3064 to the Judeans H7800 who are in Shushan H6213 [H8800] to do H4279 to morrow H3117 also according to this day's H1881 decree, H2001 and let Haman's H6235 ten H1121 sons H8518 [H8799] be hanged H6086 upon the gallows.

14 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] commanded H6213 [H8736] it so to be done: H1881 and the decree H5414 [H8735] was given H7800 at Shushan; H8518 [H8804] and they hanged H2001 Haman's H6235 ten H1121 sons.

15 H3064 For the Judeans H7800 that were in Shushan H6950 [H8735] congregated themselves H702 H6240 on the fourteenth H3117 day H2320 also of the month H143 Adar, H2026 [H8799] and slew H7969 three H3967 hundred H376 men H7800 at Shushan; H961 but on the spoil H7971 [H8804] they laid H3027 not their hand.

16 H7605 But the other H3064 Judeans H4428 that were in the king's H4082 provinces H6950 [H8738] congregated themselves, H5975 [H8800] and defended H5315 their lives, H5118 and had rest H341 [H8802] from their enemies, H2026 [H8800] and slew H8130 [H8802] of their foes H7657 seventy H2568 and five H505 thousand, H7971 [H8804] but they laid H3027 not their hands H961 on the spoil,

17 H7969 H6240 On the thirteenth H3117 day H2320 of the month H143 Adar; H702 H6240 and on the fourteenth H5118 day of the same they rested, H6213 [H8800] and made H3117 it a day H4960 of feasting H8057 and gladness.

18 H3064 But the Judeans H7800 that were at Shushan H6950 [H8738] congregated H7969 H6240 on the thirteenth H702 H6240 day of the month, and on the fourteenth H2568 H6240 of it; and on the fifteenth H5118 day of the same they rested, H6213 [H8800] and made H3117 it a day H4960 of feasting H8057 and gladness.

19 H3064 Therefore the Judeans H6521 of the villages, H3427 [H8802] that dwelt H6519 in the unwalled H5892 towns, H6213 [H8802] made H702 H6240 the fourteenth H3117 day H2320 of the month H143 Adar H8057 a day of gladness H4960 and feasting, H2896 and a good H3117 day, H4916 and of sending H4490 portions H376 one H7453 to another.

20 H4782 And Mordecai H3789 [H8799] wrote H1697 these things, H7971 [H8799] and sent H5612 letters H3064 to all the Judeans H4082 that were in all the provinces H4428 of the king H325 Ahasuerus, H7138 both near H7350 and far,

21 H6965 [H8763] To raise H6213 [H8802] this among them, that they should keep H702 H6240 the fourteenth H3117 day H2320 of the month H143 Adar, H2568 H6240 and the fifteenth H3117 day H8141 of the same, yearly,

22 H3117 As the days H3064 in which the Judeans H5117 [H8804] rested H341 [H8802] from their enemies, H2320 and the month H2015 [H8738] which was turned H3015 to them from sorrow H8057 to joy, H60 and from mourning H2896 into a good H3117 day: H6213 [H8800] that they should make H3117 them days H4960 of feasting H8057 and joy, H4916 and of sending H4490 portions H376 one H7453 to another, H4979 and gifts H34 to the poor.

23 H3064 And the Judeans H6901 [H8765] undertook H6213 [H8800] to do H2490 [H8689] as they had begun, H4782 and as Mordecai H3789 [H8804] had written to them;

24 H2001 Because Haman H1121 the son H4099 of Hammedatha, H91 the Agagite, H6887 [H8802] the one binding H3605 all H3064 the Judeans, H2803 [H8804] had devised H3064 against the Judeans H6 [H8763] to destroy H5307 [H8689] them, and had cast H6332 Pur, H1486 that is, the lot, H2000 [H8800] to consume H6 [H8763] them, and to destroy them;

25 H935 [H8800] But when Esther came H6440 at the face of H4428 the king, H559 [H8804] he commanded H5612 by letters H7451 that his wicked H4284 plot, H2803 [H8804] which he devised H3064 against the Judeans, H7725 [H8799] should return H7218 upon his own head, H1121 and that he and his sons H8518 [H8804] should be hanged H6086 on the gallows.

26 H7121 [H8804] Therefore they called H3117 these days H6332 Purim H8034 after the name H6332 of Pur. H1697 Therefore for all the words H107 of this letter, H7200 [H8804] and of that which they had seen H3602 concerning this matter, H5060 [H8689] and which had come to them,

27 H3064 The Judeans H6965 [H8765] ordained, H6901 [H8765] and took H2233 upon them, and upon their seed, H3867 [H8737] and upon all such as joined H5674 [H8799] themselves to them, so as it should not fail, H6213 [H8802] that they would keep H8147 these two H3117 days H3791 according to their writing, H2165 and according to their appointed time H8141 every year;

28 H3117 And that these days H2142 [H8737] should be remembered H6213 [H8737] and kept H1755 throughout H1755 every generation, H4940 every family, H4082 every province, H5892 and every city; H3117 and that these days H6332 of Purim H5674 [H8799] should not fail H8432 to be observed among H3064 the Judeans, H2143 nor the memorial H5486 [H8799] of them perish H2233 from their seed.

29 H635 Then Esther H4436 the queen, H1323 the daughter H32 of Abihail, H4782 and Mordecai H3064 the Judean, H3789 [H8799] wrote H8633 with all authority, H6965 [H8763] to raise H8145 this second H107 letter H6332 of Purim.

30 H7971 [H8799] And he sent H5612 the letters H3064 to all the Judeans, H3967 to the hundred H6242 twenty H7651 and seven H4082 provinces H4438 of the kingdom H325 of Ahasuerus, H1697 with words H7965 of peace H571 and truth,

31 H6965 [H8763] To raise H3117 these days H6332 of Purim H2165 in their times H4782 appointed, according as Mordecai H3064 the Judean H635 and Esther H4436 the queen H6965 [H8765] had raised H6965 [H8765] for them, and as they had raised H5315 for themselves H2233 and for their seed, H1697 the matters H6685 of the fastings H2201 and their outcries.

32 H3982 And the decree H635 of Esther H6965 [H8765] raised H1697 these matters H6332 of Purim; H3789 [H8737] and it was written H5612 in the book.
