  1 G5274 And undertaking, G1161   G* Elihu G3004 says,
  2 G5100 What G3778 is this G2233 you esteem G1722 in G2920 equity? G1473 You, G5100 who G1510.2.2 are you, G3754 that G2036 you said, G1342 I am righteous G1510.2.1   G1726 before G2962 the lord ?
  3 G3754 For G2046 you shall say, G5100 How G4160 should I have committed G264 sinning?
  4 G1473 I G1473 shall give to you G1325   G612 an answer, G2532 and G3588 to G5140 [2three G5384 3friends G1473 1your].
  5 G308 Look up G1519 into G3588 the G3772 heaven, G2532 and G1492 behold! G2648 Study G3509 the clouds, G5613 how G5308 high G575 they are from G1473 you!
6 G1487 If G264 you sinned, G5100 what G4238 will you do? G1499.1 And even if G4183 in many things G457.1 you acted lawlessly, G5100 what G1410 are you able G4160 to do?
  7 G1893 Since G3767 then G1342 you are righteous, G1510.2.2   G5100 what G1325 shall you give G1473 to him, G2228 or G5100 what G1537 [2from out of G5495 3your hand G1473   G2983 1shall he take]?
  8 G435 To a man G3588   G3664 likened to G1473 you -- G3588   G763 of your impiety; G1473   G2532 and G5207 to a son G444 of man -- G3588   G1343 of your righteousness. G1473
  9 G575 [2by G4128 3a multitude G4811 1The ones being extorted] G2896 shall cry out; G994 they shall yell G575 because of G1023 the arm G4183 of many.
  10 G2532 And one G3756 said not, G2036   G4226 Where G1510.2.3 is G3588 the G2316 God G3588   G4160 who made G1473 me, G3588 the one G2697.1 delegating G5438 [2watches G3563.1 1 the nightly];
  11 G3588 the one G1357.1 separating G1473 me G575 from G5074 the four-footed beasts G1093 of the earth, G575 and from G1161   G4071 the birds G3772 of heaven.
12 G1563 There G2896 they shall cry out, G2532 and G3766.2 in no way G1522 shall one listen, G2532 even G575 because of G5196 the insolence G4190 of wicked men.
  13 G824 For things out of place G1063   G1014 [3does not want G3756   G1492 4to behold G3588 1the G2962 2 lord], G1473 for he is G1063   G3588 the G3841 almighty.
14 G3706.1 He is an observer G1510.2.3   G3588 of the ones G4931 completing G3588   G459 lawless deeds, G2532 and G4982 he will deliver G1473 me; G2919 and you plead G1161   G1726 before G1473 him! G1487 if G1410 you are able G134 to praise G1473 him, G5613 as G1510.2.3 he is.
  15 G2532 And G3568 now G3754 that G3756 he is not G1510.2.3   G1980 numbering G3709 his anger, G1473   G2532 and G3756 he knows not G1097   G3900 [2transgressions G4970 1exceeding],
  16 G2532 even G* Job G3154.1 acting in folly G455 opens G3588   G4750 his mouth; G1473   G1722 in G56 ignorance G4487 [2words G925 1he weighs down].

Wycliffe(i) 1 Therfor Helyu spak eft these thingis, Whethir thi thouyt semeth euene, 2 `ether riytful, to thee, that thou schuldist seie, Y am riytfulere than God? 3 For thou seidist, That, that is good, plesith not thee; ethir what profitith it to thee, if Y do synne? 4 Therfor Y schal answere to thi wordis, and to thi frendis with thee. 5 Se thou, and biholde heuene, and biholde thou the eir, that God is hiyere than thou. 6 If thou synnest `ayens hym, what schalt thou anoye hym? and if thi wickidnessis ben multiplied, what schalt thou do ayens hym? 7 Certis if thou doist iustli, what schalt thou yyue to hym; ether what schal he take of thin hond? 8 Thi wickidnesse schal anoie a man, which is lijk thee; and thi riytfulnesse schal helpe the sone of a man. 9 Thei schulen cry for the multitude of fals chalengeris, and thei schulen weile for the violence of the arm of tirauntis. 10 And Joob seide not, Where is God, that made me, and that yaf songis in the nyyt? 11 Which God techith vs aboue the beestis of erthe, and he schal teche vs aboue the briddis of heuene. 12 There thei schulen crye, and God schal not here, for the pride of yuele men. 13 For God schal not here with out cause, and Almyyti God schal biholde the causis of ech man. 14 Yhe, whanne thou seist, He biholdith not; be thou demed bifor hym, and abide thou hym. 15 For now he bryngith not in his strong veniaunce, nether vengith `greetli felonye. 16 Therfor Joob openith his mouth in veyn, and multiplieth wordis with out kunnyng.

Geneva(i) 1 Elihu spake moreouer, and said, 2 Thinkest thou this right, that thou hast said, I am more righteous then God? 3 For thou hast said, What profiteth it thee and what auaileth it me, to purge me from my sinne? 4 Therefore will I answere thee, and thy companions with thee. 5 Looke vnto the heauen, and see and behold the cloudes which are hyer then thou. 6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him, yea, when thy sinnes be many, what doest thou vnto him? 7 If thou be righteous, what giuest thou vnto him? or what receiueth he at thine hand? 8 Thy wickednesse may hurt a man as thou art: and thy righteousnes may profite ye sonne of man. 9 They cause many that are oppressed, to crye, which crye out for ye violence of the mightie. 10 But none saieth, Where is God that made me, which giueth songs in the nyght? 11 Which teacheth vs more then the beastes of the earth, and giueth vs more wisdome then the foules of the heauen. 12 Then they crye because of the violence of the wicked, but he answereth not. 13 Surely God will not heare vanitie, neyther will the Almightie regard it. 14 Although thou sayest to God, Thou wilt not regard it, yet iudgement is before him: trust thou in him. 15 But nowe because his anger hath not visited, nor called to count the euill with great extremitie, 16 Therfore Iob openeth his mouth in vaine, and multiplieth wordes without knowledge.

DouayRheims(i) 1 Moreover Eliu spoke these words: 2 Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say: I am more just than God? 3 For thou saidst: That which is right doth not please thee: or what will it profit thee if I sin? 4 Therefore I will answer thy words, and thy friends with thee. 5 Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee. 6 If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him? 7 And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand? 8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee: and thy justice may help the son of man. 9 By reason of the multitude of oppressors they shall cry out: and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants. 10 And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night? 11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air. 12 There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men. 13 God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one. 14 Yea, when thou shalt say: He considereth not: be judged before him, and expect him. 15 For he doth not now bring on his fury, neither doth he revenge wickedness exceedingly. 16 Therefore Job openeth his mouth in vain, and multiplieth words without knowledge.

Thomson(i) 1 Then Elius proceeded and said, 2 What thinkest thou of this in thy pleading? Who art thou that thou shouldst say, "I am righteous before the Lord?" 3 Or wilt thou say, "What can I do if I sin?" 4 I will answer thee and these three friends of thine. 5 Look up to yonder heaven and see; and observe the clouds, how high above thee they are. 6 If thou hast sinned, what canst thou do? And if thou hast multiplied transgressions, what canst thou effect? 7 If thou art righteous, what canst thou give him? Or will he receive any thing at thy hands? 8 Thy wickedness may affect a man like thyself: and thy righteousness, a son of man . 9 On the account of a multitude, they who are falsely accused will scream: They will call aloud because of the arm of many, 10 but none said, where is the God who made me; 11 who regulateth the watches of the night; who distinguisheth me from the beasts of the earth and from the birds of the air? 12 There let them scream. He indeed may not hearken even at the abuse of bad men. 13 "Since it is not the Lord's desire to see improper things; since he, the Almighty, 14 is the observer of them who do injustice; he should save me:" but be judged before him. Canst thou praise him as things are? 15 Because he doth not regard Job's anger; and hath not severely animadverted on some offence: 16 therefore Job vainly openeth his mouth; he loadeth his speeches with folly.

Brenton(i) 1 And Elius resumed and said, 2 What is this that thou thinkest to be according to right? who art thou that thou hast said, I am righteous before the Lord? 3 I will answer thee, and thy three friends. 4 Look up to the sky and see; and consider the clouds, how high they are above thee. 5 If thou hast sinned, what wilt thou do? 6 and if too thou hast transgressed much, what canst thou perform? 7 And suppose thou art righteous, what wilt thou give him? or what shall he receive of thy hand? 8 Thy ungodliness may affect a man who is like to thee; or thy righteousness a son of man. 9 They that are oppressed of a multitude will be ready to cry out; they will call for help because of the arm of many. 10 But none said, Where is God that made me, who appoints the night-watches; 11 who makes me to differ from the four-footed beasts of the earth, and from the birds of the sky? 12 There they shall cry, and none shall hearken, even because of the insolence of wicked men. 13 For the Lord desires not to look on error, for he is the Almighty One. 14 He beholds them that perform lawless deeds, and he will save me: and do thou plead before him, if thou canst praise him, as it is possible even now. 15 For he is not now regarding his wrath, nor has he noticed severely any trespass. 16 Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.
Leeser(i) 1 Then commenced Elihu, and said, 2 Dost thou deem this to be just, that thou hast said, “My righteousness is more than God’s?” 3 For thou sayest, “What benefit will it be unto thee? what more profit shall I have, than if I had sinned?” 4 I will truly reply unto thee with words, and unto thy friends with thee. 5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and gaze on the skies which are higher than thou. 6 If thou sin, what dost thou effect against him? and if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him? 7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what doth he accept out of thy hand? 8 A man like thyself thy wickedness may reach, and a son of earth thy righteousness. 9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions the wicked cause men to cry: these complain aloud because of the arm of the mighty. 10 But man saith not, Where is God my maker, who bestoweth joyful songs even in the night; 11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of the heavens? 12 There do they cry, but he answereth not: because of the pride of evil men. 13 Only what is false will God not hear, nor will the Almighty regard it. 14 Although thou sayest, thou canst not see him: yet the decision is before him; and do thou wait for him. 15 But now, because his anger hath punished nothing, shall he not greatly take cognizance of the multitude of sins? 16 But Job openeth wide his mouth for nought: without knowledge he heapeth up words.
YLT(i) 1 And Elihu answereth and saith: — 2 This hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said—`My righteousness is more than God's?' 3 For thou sayest, `What doth it profit Thee! What do I profit from my sin?' 4 I return thee words, and thy friends with thee, 5 Behold attentively the heavens—and see, And behold the clouds, They have been higher than thou. 6 If thou hast sinned, what dost thou against Him? And thy transgressions have been multiplied, What dost thou to Him? 7 If thou hast been righteous, What dost thou give to Him? Or what from thy hand doth He receive? 8 For a man like thyself is thy wickedness, And for a son of man thy righteousness.
9 Because of the multitude of oppressions They cause to cry out, They cry because of the arm of the mighty. 10 And none said, `Where is God my maker? Giving songs in the night, 11 Teaching us more than the beasts of the earth, Yea, than the fowl of the heavens He maketh us wiser.' 12 There they cry, and He doth not answer, Because of the pride of evil doers. 13 Surely vanity God doth not hear, And the Mighty doth not behold it.
14 Yea, though thou sayest thou dost not behold Him, Judgment is before Him, and stay for Him. 15 And, now, because there is not, He hath appointed His anger, And He hath not known in great extremity. 16 And Job with vanity doth open his mouth, Without knowledge words he multiplieth.
JuliaSmith(i) 1 And Elihu will answer and say, 2 Didst thou reckon this for judgment thou saidst, My justice is above God? 3 For thou wilt say, What shall it profit to thee? what shall I profit from my sin? 4 I will turn back words to thee, and thy companions with thee. 5 Look upon the heavens and see; behold the clouds, they were high above thee. 6 If thou sinnedst, what wilt thou do against him? and thy transgressions were multiplied, what wilt thou do to him? 7 If thou wert just, what wilt thou give to him? or what shall he take from thy hand? 8 Thy injustice to a man as thou: and thy justice to the son of man. 9 From the multitude of oppressions they will cry out: they will cry out from the arm of the many. 10 And not saying, Where is God making me? he gave songs in the night 11 And who teacheth us from the cattle of the earth, and he will make us wise above the birds of the heavens? 12 Then they will cry, and he will not answer from the face of the pride of the evil. 13 Also God will not hear vanity, and the Almighty will not look upon it 14 Also if thou shalt say thou wilt not see him, judgment is before him, and thou shalt wait for him. 15 And now that it is not, he reviewed his anger, and he knew not in great transgression. 16 And Job will open his mouth in vain; he will bind together words without knowledge.
Darby(i) 1 Moreover Elihu answered and said, 2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than ?God`s? 3 For thou hast asked of what profit it is unto thee: what do I gain more than if I had sinned? 4 I will reply to thee in words, and to thy companions with thee. 5 Look unto the heavens and see; and survey the skies: they are higher than thou. 6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? 7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou to him? or what doth he receive of thy hand? 8 Thy wickedness [may affect] a man as thou [art], and thy righteousness a son of man. 9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry; they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty: 10 But none saith, Where is +God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night, 11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowl of the heavens? 12 There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men. 13 Surely ?God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. 14 Although thou sayest thou dost not see him, judgment is before him, therefore wait for him. 15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, doth not [Job] know [his] great arrogancy? 16 For Job hath opened his mouth in vanity, and made words abundant without knowledge.

And hath He not full knowledge of arrogance? 16 But Job doth open his mouth in vanity; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Rotherham(i) 1 Moreover Elihu, responded and said:–– 2 This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast said––My righteousness is more than GOD’S. 3 For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin? 4 I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee. 5 Look at the heavens and see,––and survey the skies––they are higher than thou. 6 If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him? 7 If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept? 8 Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness [reach], and, unto a son of the earth–born, thy righteousness.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions, [men] make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty; 10 But none saith––Where is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night; 11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom? 12 There, [men] make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil–doers. 13 Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.
14 How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him. 15 But, now, because it is not so, [thou sayest]––His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression; 16 Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.
CLV(i) 1 Then Elihu continued to answer and said: 2 Is this what you reckon as right judgment? Do you say, This is my righteousness before El, 3 When you ask, How is it profitable to me? What more do I benefit than if I had sinned? 4 I myself shall reply to you with declarations, And to your associates with you. 5 Look at the heavens and see; Regard the skies; they are loftier than you. 6 If you sin, what effect do you have on Him, And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him? 7 If you are righteous, what do you give to Him? Or what does He take from your hand? 8 Your wickedness affects a man like yourself, And your righteousness a son of humanity. 9 Under a multitude of extortions they cry out; They implore under the arm of those with great power. 10 But not one has said, Where is Eloah, my Maker, Who is giving psalms in the night, 11 Training us by the beasts of the earth, And by the flier of the heavens, He makes us wise? 12 There they cry (yet He does not answer) Because of the pride of evil men. 13 Yea, it is futility; El does not hear, And He Who Suffices does not regard it. 14 How much less when you complain you are not regarding Him, That adjudication is set before Him, and you are awaiting Him? 15 And now because He does not visit His anger And does not acknowledge the transgression of humanity, 16 Job is opening his mouth wide with vanity; He makes declarations abound without knowledge.
BBE(i) 1 And Elihu made answer and said, 2 Does it seem to you to be right, and righteousness before God, to say, 3 What profit is it to me, and how am I better off than if I had done wrong? 4 I will make answer to you and to your friends: 5 Let your eyes be turned to the heavens, and lifted up to see the skies; they are higher than you. 6 If you have done wrong, is he any the worse for it? and if your sins are great in number, what is it to him? 7 If you are upright, what do you give to him? or what does he take from your hand? 8 Your evil-doing may have an effect on a man like yourself, or your righteousness on a son of man. 9 Because the hand of the cruel is hard on them, men are making sounds of grief; they are crying out for help because of the arm of the strong. 10 But no one has said, Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night; 11 Who gives us more knowledge than the beasts of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heaven? 12 There they are crying out because of the pride of the evil-doers, but he gives them no answer. 13 But God will not give ear to what is false, or the Ruler of all take note of it; 14 How much less when you say that you do not see him; that the cause is before him, and you are waiting for him. 15 And now (UNTRANSLATED TEXT); 16 And Job's mouth is open wide to give out what is of no profit, increasing words without knowledge.
MKJV(i) 1 And Elihu answered and said, 2 Do you think this to be right, you that say, I am more just than God? 3 For you say, What will it benefit you? And, What good shall I have more than if I had sinned? 4 I will answer your words, and your friends with you. 5 Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds; they are higher than you. 6 If you sin, what do you do against Him? ECB(i) 1 And Eli Hu answers and says, 2 Fabricate you this to be judgment, that you said, My justness is more than of El? 3 that you said, What use is it to you? and, What benefit I from my sin? 4 - I respond utterances to you and your friends with you. 5 Look to the heavens and see; observe the vapours high above you. 6 If you sin, what work you against him? Or if your rebellions be multiplied, what do you to him? 7 If you be justified, what give you him? Or what takes he from your hand? 8 Your wickedness is for a man as you; and your justness for the son of humanity. 9 By reason of the abundance of oppressions they cause to cry out - to cry out by reason of the arm of the great. 10 And no one says, Where is Elohah my Worker - who gives psalms in the night? 11 - who teaches us more than the animals of the earth? - who enwisens us more than the flyers of the heavens? 12 There they cry, and he answers not at the face of the pomp of evil. 13 Surely El neither hears vanity nor Shadday observes. 14 Yes, although you say you observe him not, the plea is at his face; writhe in him. 15 And now, because there is none, he visits his wrath; yet in mighty stupidity, he knows not: 16 and Iyob gasps his mouth in vain; he weaves utterances without knowledge.

16 H347 Therefore Job H6475 opens H6310 his mouth H1892 with empty H3527 talk, and he multiplies H4405 words H1097 without H1847 knowledge."
NHEB(i) 1 Moreover Elihu answered, 2 "Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's,' 3 That you ask, 'What advantage will it be to you? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?' 4 I will answer you, and your companions with you. 5 Look to the heavens, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you. 6 If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him? 7 If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand? 8 Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man. 9 "By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty. 10 But none says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?' 12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men. 13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will Shaddai regard it. 14 How much less when you say you do not see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him. 15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance. 16 Therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge."

EJ2000(i) 1 ¶ Elihu proceeded in his reasoning and said, 2 Dost thou think this to be right, when thou didst say, I am more righteous than God? 3 For thou didst say, What advantage will it be unto thee? And, What profit shall I have, if I am cleansed from my sin? 4 I will answer thee and thy companions with thee. 5 Look unto the heavens and see; and behold the heavens which are higher than thou. 6 If thou dost sin, what hast thou done against him? Or if thy rebellion is multiplied, what doest thou unto him? 7 If thou art righteous, what shalt thou give him? Or what shall he receive of thine hand? 8 Thy wickedness shall hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness shall profit the son of man. 9 ¶ By reason of the great violence they shall call out; they cry out because of the strength of the many. 10 But no one shall say, Where is God my maker, who gives songs in the night; 11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the fowls of heaven? 12 There they shall cry, but he shall give no answer because of the pride of those that are evil. 13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty look upon it. 14 ¶ For much that thou dost say, he will not look upon it, submit to judgment before him, and trust thou in him. 15 But now, because he has not visited in wrath; nor is it known in great extremity; 16 therefore, Job opened his mouth in vain and multiplied words without knowledge.
CAB(i) 1 And Elihu resumed and said, 2 What is this that you think is right? Who are you that you have said, I am righteous before the Lord? 3 I will answer you, and your three friends. 4 Look up to the sky and see; and consider the clouds, how high they are above you. 5 If you have sinned, what will you do? 6 And if you have also transgressed much, what can you perform? 7 And suppose you are righteous, what will you give Him? Or what shall He receive from your hand? 8 Your ungodliness may affect a man such as you; or your righteousness a son of man. 9 They that are oppressed of a multitude will be ready to cry out; they will call for help because of the arm of many. 10 But none said, Where is God that made me, who appoints the night watches; 11 who makes me to differ from the four-footed beasts of the earth, and from the birds of the sky? 12 There they shall cry, and none shall hear, even because of the insolence of wicked men. 13 For the Lord desires not to look on error, for He is the Almighty One. 14 He beholds them that perform lawless deeds, and He will save me: and do you plead before Him, if you can praise Him, as it is possible even now? 15 For He is not now regarding His wrath, nor has He noticed severely any trespass. 16 Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.
LXX2012(i) 1 And Elius resumed and said, 2 What is this that you think to be according to right? who are you that you have said, I am righteous before the Lord? 3 I will answer you, and your three friends. 4 Look up to the sky and see; and consider the clouds, how high [they are] above you. 5 If you have sinned, what will you do? 6 and if too you have transgressed much, what can you perform? 7 And suppose you are righteous, what will you give him? or what shall he receive of your hand? 8 Your ungodliness [may affect] a man who is like to you; or your righteousness a son of man. 9 They that are oppressed of a multitude will be ready to cry out; they will call for help because of the arm of many. 10 But none said, Where is God that made me, who appoints the night-watches; 11 who makes me to differ from the four-footed beasts of the earth, and from the birds of the sky? 12 There they shall cry, and none shall listen, even because of the insolence of wicked men. 13 For the Lord desires not to look on error, for he is the Almighty One. 14 He beholds them that perform lawless deeds, and he will save me: and do you plead before him, if you can praise him, as it is [possible] even now. 15 For he is not [now] regarding his wrath, nor has he noticed severely any trespass. 16 Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.

ISV(i) 1 Elihu Speaks AgainIn response, Elihu said: 2 “Are you saying that it’s just for you to claim, ‘I’m more righteous than God?’ 3 After all, you’ve asked what your benefit will be: ‘What will I profit from refraining from sin?’ 4 I’m going to respond to that statement, and to your friends with you.”
5 God’s Justice Remains Unsullied“Observe the heavens! Take a look around! Look! The clouds are higher than you, aren’t they? 6 If you sin, what will that do to harm him? If you add transgression to transgression what will it do to him? 7 If you are righteous, what will you add to him? What can God receive from your efforts? 8 Your wickedness affects only yourself; and your righteousness, only human beings. 9 “They cry out because they have many oppressors; they cry for help because the powerful are abusing them. 10 He never asks, ‘Where is God, my Creator, who gives me songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than the earth’s wild animals, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’ 12 “They cry out there, but he doesn’t answer because of the arrogance of those who practice evil. 13 Theirs is a useless plea— God won’t listen; the Almighty won’t pay any attention. 14 Even though you complain that you can’t perceive him, your case is already pending for judgment in his presence so keep on placing your hope in him. 15 “So now, if he doesn’t inflict punishment in his anger, then he doesn’t keep track of your many transgressions. 16 When he began speaking, he communicated only worthlessness; he added words upon words without knowing anything.”
LEB(i) 1 Moreover,* Elihu spoke up* and said, 2 "Do you think this is justice when you say, 'I am right* before God'? 3 If you ask what it profits you: 'How do I benefit by refraining from my sin?'* 4 I myself* will give answer to you* and to your friends with you. 5 "Look at the heavens, and see; and observe the clouds that are higher than you. 6 If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him? 7 If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand? 8 Your wickedness affects a person like yourself, and your righteousness affects humans. 9 "Because of the multitude of oppressions, they cry out; they cry for help because of the arm of the mighty. 10 But* no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than the animals of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?' 12 There they cry out, but* he does not answer because of the pride of evildoers.* 13 "Surely God does not hear an empty plea, and Shaddai does not regard it. 14 How much less* when you say that you do not see him, that the case is before him,* and you are waiting for him! 15 But* now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not acknowledge the transgression at all, 16 therefore* Job opens his mouth in empty talk— without knowledge he multiplies words."
BSB(i) 1 And Elihu went on to say: 2 “Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am more righteous than God.’ 3 For you ask, ‘What does it profit me, and what benefit do I gain apart from sin?’ 4 I will reply to you and to your friends as well. 5 Look to the heavens and see; gaze at the clouds high above you. 6 If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? If you multiply your transgressions, what do you do to Him? 7 If you are righteous, what do you give Him, or what does He receive from your hand? 8 Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself, and your righteousness only a son of man. 9 Men cry out under great oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the mighty. 10 But no one asks, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives us songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’ 12 There they cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men. 13 Surely God does not listen to empty pleas, and the Almighty does not take note of it. 14 How much less, then, when you say that you do not see Him, that your case is before Him and you must wait for Him, 15 and further, that in His anger He has not punished or taken much notice of folly! 16 So Job opens his mouth in vain and multiplies words without knowledge.”
MSB(i) 1 And Elihu went on to say: 2 “Do you think this is just? MLV(i) 1 Moreover Elihu answered and said, 2 What is this you think in judgment? Who are you that you said, I am righteousness before the Lord? 3 That you said, What advantage will it be to you? 5 Look to the heavens and see. And behold the skies, which are higher than you. 6 If you have sinned, what do you effect against him? And if your transgressions be multiplied, what do you to him? 7 If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive of your hand?
8 Your wickedness is a man as you are and your righteousness is a son of man. 9 Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.
10 But none says, Where is God my maker who gives songs in the night, 11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens? 12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Surely God will not hear an empty cry, nor will the Almighty regard it. 14 How much less when you say that you do not behold him. The case is before him and you wait for him!
15 But now, because he has not visited in his anger, nor does he regard transgression well, 16 so Job opens his mouth in vanity. He multiplies words without knowledge.

Was hilft's, ob ich mich ohne Sünde mache? 6 Sündigest du, was kannst du mit ihm machen?

6 Sündigst du, was kannst du ihm Schaden?

Giguet(i) 1 ¶ Et Elihou, continuant dit: 2 Qu’as-tu pensé obtenir d’un jugement?
DarbyFR(i) 1

4 Já odpovím tobě místně, i tovaryšům tvým s tebou. 5 Pohleď na nebe a viz, anobrž spatř oblaky, vyšší, než-lis ty. 6 Jestliže bys hřešil, co svedeš proti němu? A byť se i rozmnožily nešlechetnosti tvé, co mu uškodíš? 7 Budeš-li spravedlivý, čeho mu udělíš? Aneb co z ruky tvé vezme? 8 Každémuť člověku bezbožnost jeho uškodí, a synu člověka spravedlnost jeho prospěje. 9 Z množství nátisk trpících, kteréž k tomu přivodí, aby úpěli a křičeli pro ukrutnost povýšených, 10 Žádný neříká: Kde jest Bůh stvořitel můj? Ješto on dává zpěv i v noci. 11 On vyučuje nás nad hovada zemská, a nad ptactvo nebeské moudřejší nás činí. 12 Tehdáž volají-li pro pýchu zlých, nebývají vyslyšáni. 13 A jistě žeť ošemetnosti nevyslýchá Bůh silný, a Všemohoucí nepatří na ni. 14 Mnohem méně, jestliže díš: Nepatříš na to. Sám s sebou vejdi v soud před ním, a doufej v něho.

11 Yo pa vire kote Bondye ki ba yo plis lespri pase bèt nan bwa, plis bon konprann pase zwezo nan syèl la. 12 Yo rele kont rele yo, Bondye pa reponn yo, paske mechan yo gen lògèy. 13 Se pou gremesi y'ap plede rele konsa. Bondye pa tande, li pa wè. 14 Jòb monchè, ou di ou pa ka wè Bondye. Men, ou mete ka ou devan li. 15 Ou di ankò: Bondye pa nan pini.
4 Io ti risponderò, Ed a’ tuoi compagni teco.

Lithuanian(i) 1 Elihuvas tęsė: 2 “Ar manai, kad tu teisingai kalbi sakydamas: ‘Aš esu teisesnis už Dievą’? 3 Nes tu sakai: ‘Kokia nauda man iš to, jei aš nenusidedu?’ 4 Aš atsakysiu tau ir tavo draugams. 5 Pažvelk į dangaus debesis, kurie yra aukštai. 6 Jei nusikaltai, ar Jam pakenkei? Jei savo nuodėmes daugini, ar Jam ką padarai? 7 Jei teisus esi, kokia nauda Jam?
PBG(i) 1 Nadto mówił Elihu, i rzekł: 2 I mniemasz, żeś to z rozsądkiem rzekł: Sprawiedliwość moja przechodzi Boską? 6 Jeźli zgrzeszysz, cóż uczynisz przeciwko niemu? a jeźliby były rozmnożone nieprawości twoje, cóż mu uczynisz? 7 Jeźlibyś był sprawiedliwym, cóż mu dasz? albo cóż weźmie z ręki twojej? 8 Człowiekowi podobnemu tobie niezbożność twoja zaszkodzi, a synowi człowieczemu pomoże sprawiedliwość twoja.
