2 Samuel 12 And Jehovah sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.

1 H3068 And Jehovah H7971 sent H5416 Nathan H1732 unto David. H935 And he came H559 unto him, and said H8147 unto him, There were two H582 men H259 in one H5892 city; H259 the one H6223 rich, H259 and the other H7326 poor.

2 H6223 The rich H3966 man had exceeding H7235 many H6629 flocks H1241 and herds;

3 H7326 but the poor H259 man had nothing, save one H6996 little H3535 ewe lamb, H7069 which he had bought H2421 and nourished up: H1431 and it grew up H3162 together H1121 with him, and with his children; H398 it did eat H6595 of his own morsel, H8354 and drank H3563 of his own cup, H7901 and lay H2436 in his bosom, H1323 and was unto him as a daughter.

4 H935 And there came H1982 a traveller H6223 unto the rich H376 man, H2550 and he spared H3947 to take H6629 of his own flock H1241 and of his own herd, H6213 to dress H732 for the wayfaring man H935 that was come H3947 unto him, but took H7326 the poor H376 man's H3535 lamb, H6213 and dressed H376 it for the man H935 that was come to him.

5 H1732 And David's H639 anger H3966 was greatly H2734 kindled H376 against the man; H559 and he said H5416 to Nathan, H3068 As Jehovah H2416 liveth, H376 the man H6213 that hath done H1121 this is worthy H4194 to die:

6 H7999 and he shall restore H3535 the lamb H706 fourfold, H6118 because H6213 he did H1697 this thing, H834 and because H2550 he had no pity.

7 H5416 And Nathan H559 said H1732 to David, H376 Thou art the man. H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H4886 I anointed H4428 thee king H3478 over Israel, H5337 and I delivered H3027 thee out of the hand H7586 of Saul;

8 H5414 and I gave H113 thee thy master's H1004 house, H113 and thy master's H802 wives H2436 into thy bosom, H5414 and gave H1004 thee the house H3478 of Israel H3063 and of Judah; H4592 and if that had been too little, H3254 I would have added H2007 unto thee such H2007 and such things.

9 H959 Wherefore hast thou despised H1697 the word H3068 of Jehovah, H6213 to do H7451 that which is evil H5869 in his sight? H5221 thou hast smitten H223 Uriah H2850 the Hittite H2719 with the sword, H3947 and hast taken H802 his wife H802 to be thy wife, H2026 and hast slain H2719 him with the sword H1121 of the children H5983 of Ammon.

10 H2719 Now therefore the sword H5704 shall never H5493 depart H1004 from thy house, H6118 because H959 thou hast despised H3947 me, and hast taken H802 the wife H223 of Uriah H2850 the Hittite H802 to be thy wife.

11 H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H6965 Behold, I will raise up H7451 evil H1004 against thee out of thine own house; H3947 and I will take H802 thy wives H5869 before thine eyes, H5414 and give H7453 them unto thy neighbor, H7901 and he shall lie H802 with thy wives H5869 in the sight H8121 of this sun.

12 H6213 For thou didst H5643 it secretly: H6213 but I will do H1697 this thing H3478 before all Israel, H8121 and before the sun.

13 H1732 And David H559 said H5416 unto Nathan, H2398 I have sinned H3068 against Jehovah. H5416 And Nathan H559 said H1732 unto David, H3068 Jehovah H5674 also hath put away H2403 thy sin; H4191 thou shalt not die.

14 H657 Howbeit, H1697 because by this deed H5006 thou hast given H5006 great occasion H341 to the enemies H3068 of Jehovah H5006 to blaspheme, H1121 the child H3209 also that is born H4191 unto thee shall surely H4191 die.

15 H5416 And Nathan H3212 departed H1004 unto his house. H3068 And Jehovah H5062 struck H3206 the child H223 that Uriah's H802 wife H3205 bare H1732 unto David, H605 and it was very sick.

16 H1732 David H1245 therefore besought H430 God H5288 for the child; H1732 and David H6684 fasted, H935 and went in, H7901 and lay H3885 all night H776 upon the earth.

17 H2205 And the elders H1004 of his house H6965 arose, H6965 and stood beside him, to raise him up H776 from the earth: H14 but he would H1262 not, neither did he eat H3899 bread with them.

18 H7637 And it came to pass on the seventh H3117 day, H3206 that the child H4191 died. H5650 And the servants H1732 of David H3372 feared H5046 to tell H3206 him that the child H4191 was dead; H559 for they said, H3206 Behold, while the child H2416 was yet alive, H1696 we spake H8085 unto him, and he hearkened H6963 not unto our voice: H6213 how will he then H7451 vex H6213 himself, H559 if we tell H3206 him that the child H4191 is dead!

19 H1732 But when David H7200 saw H5650 that his servants H3907 were whispering H1732 together, David H995 perceived H3206 that the child H4191 was dead; H1732 and David H559 said H5650 unto his servants, H3206 Is the child H4191 dead? H559 And they said, H4191 He is dead.

20 H1732 Then David H6965 arose H776 from the earth, H7364 and washed, H5480 and anointed H2498 himself, and changed H8071 his apparel; H935 and he came H1004 into the house H3068 of Jehovah, H7812 and worshipped: H935 then he came H1004 to his own house; H7592 and when he required, H7760 they set H3899 bread H398 before him, and he did eat.

21 H559 Then said H5650 his servants H1697 unto him, What thing H6213 is this that thou hast done? H6684 thou didst fast H1058 and weep H3206 for the child, H2416 while it was alive; H3206 but when the child H4191 was dead, H6965 thou didst rise H398 and eat H3899 bread.

22 H559 And he said, H3206 While the child H2416 was yet alive, H6684 I fasted H1058 and wept: H559 for I said, H3045 Who knoweth H3068 whether Jehovah H2603 will not be gracious H3206 to me, that the child H2416 may live?

23 H4191 But now he is dead, H6684 wherefore should I fast? H3201 can H7725 I bring him back again? H1980 I shall go H7725 to him, but he will not return to me.

24 H1732 And David H5162 comforted H1339 Bath-sheba H802 his wife, H935 and went in H7901 unto her, and lay H3205 with her: and she bare H1121 a son, H7121 and he called H8034 his name H8010 Solomon. H3068 And Jehovah H157 loved him;

25 H7971 and he sent H3027 by the hand H5416 of Nathan H5030 the prophet; H7121 and he called H8034 his name H3041 Jedidiah, H3068 for Jehovah's sake.

26 H3097 Now Joab H3898 fought H7237 against Rabbah H1121 of the children H5983 of Ammon, H3920 and took H4410 the royal H5892 city.

27 H3097 And Joab H7971 sent H4397 messengers H1732 to David, H559 and said, H3898 I have fought H7237 against Rabbah; H3920 yea, I have taken H5892 the city H4325 of waters.

28 H622 Now therefore gather H3499 the rest H5971 of the people H622 together, H2583 and encamp H5892 against the city, H3920 and take H3920 it; lest I take H5892 the city, H7121 and it be called H8034 after my name.

29 H1732 And David H622 gathered H5971 all the people H622 together, H3212 and went H7237 to Rabbah, H3898 and fought H3920 against it, and took it.

30 H3947 And he took H5850 the crown H4428 of their king H7218 from off his head; H4948 and the weight H3603 thereof was a talent H2091 of gold, H3368 and in it were precious H68 stones; H1732 and it was set on David's H7218 head. H3318 And he brought forth H7998 the spoil H5892 of the city, H3966 exceeding H7235 much.

31 H3318 And he brought forth H5971 the people H7760 that were therein, and put H4050 them under saws, H2757 and under harrows H1270 of iron, H4037 and under axes H1270 of iron, H5674 and made them pass H4404 through the brickkiln: H6213 and thus did H5892 he unto all the cities H1121 of the children H5983 of Ammon. H1732 And David H5971 and all the people H7725 returned H3389 unto Jerusalem.
