Numbers 8 And the LORD spake unto Moses , saying ,

1 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H1696 Speak [H8761] H175 unto Aaron H559 , and say [H8804] H5927 unto him, When thou lightest [H8687] H5216 the lamps H7651 , the seven H5216 lamps H215 shall give light [H8686] H6440 over against H4136 H4501 the candlestick.

3 H175 And Aaron H6213 did [H8799] H5927 so; he lighted [H8689] H5216 the lamps H4136 thereof over against H6440 H4501 the candlestick H3068 , as the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H4872 Moses.

4 H4639 And this work H4501 of the candlestick H4749 was of beaten H2091 gold H3409 , unto the shaft H6525 thereof, unto the flowers H4749 thereof, was beaten work H4758 : according unto the pattern H3068 which the LORD H7200 had shewed [H8689] H4872 Moses H6213 , so he made [H8804] H4501 the candlestick.

5 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

6 H3947 Take [H8798] H3881 the Levites H8432 from among H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H2891 , and cleanse [H8765] them.

7 H6213 And thus shalt thou do [H8799] H2891 unto them, to cleanse [H8763] H5137 them: Sprinkle [H8685] H4325 water H2403 of purifying H8593 upon them, and let them shave H5674 [H8689] H1320 all their flesh H3526 , and let them wash [H8765] H899 their clothes H2891 , and so make themselves clean [H8694] .

8 H3947 Then let them take [H8804] H1121 a young H1241 H6499 bullock H4503 with his meat offering H5560 , even fine flour H1101 mingled [H8803] H8081 with oil H8145 , and another H1121 young H1241 H6499 bullock H3947 shalt thou take [H8799] H2403 for a sin offering.

9 H7126 And thou shalt bring [H8689] H3881 the Levites H6440 before H168 the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6950 : and thou shalt gather H5712 the whole assembly H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H6950 together [H8689] :

10 H7126 And thou shalt bring [H8689] H3881 the Levites H6440 before H3068 the LORD H1121 : and the children H3478 of Israel H5564 shall put [H8804] H3027 their hands H3881 upon the Levites:

11 H175 And Aaron H5130 shall offer [H8689] H3881 the Levites H6440 before H3068 the LORD H8573 for an offering H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H5647 , that they may execute [H8800] H5656 the service H3068 of the LORD.

12 H3881 And the Levites H5564 shall lay [H8799] H3027 their hands H7218 upon the heads H6499 of the bullocks H6213 : and thou shalt offer [H8798] H259 the one H2403 for a sin offering H259 , and the other H5930 for a burnt offering H3068 , unto the LORD H3722 , to make an atonement [H8763] H3881 for the Levites.

13 H5975 And thou shalt set [H8689] H3881 the Levites H6440 before H175 Aaron H6440 , and before H1121 his sons H5130 , and offer [H8689] H8573 them for an offering H3068 unto the LORD.

14 H914 Thus shalt thou separate [H8689] H3881 the Levites H8432 from among H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H3881 : and the Levites shall be mine.

15 H310 And after H3881 that shall the Levites H935 go in [H8799] H5647 to do the service [H8800] H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H2891 : and thou shalt cleanse [H8765] H5130 them, and offer [H8689] H8573 them for an offering.

16 H5414 For they are wholly given [H8803] H8432 unto me from among H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H6363 ; instead of such as open H7358 every womb H1060 , even instead of the firstborn H1121 of all the children H3478 of Israel H3947 , have I taken [H8804] them unto me.

17 H1060 For all the firstborn H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H120 are mine, both man H929 and beast H3117 : on the day H5221 that I smote [H8687] H1060 every firstborn H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H6942 I sanctified [H8689] them for myself.

18 H3947 And I have taken [H8799] H3881 the Levites H1060 for all the firstborn H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel.

19 H5414 And I have given [H8799] H3881 the Levites H5414 as a gift [H8803] H175 to Aaron H1121 and to his sons H8432 from among H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H5647 , to do [H8800] H5656 the service H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H168 in the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H3722 , and to make an atonement [H8763] H1121 for the children H3478 of Israel H5063 : that there be no plague H1121 among the children H3478 of Israel H1121 , when the children H3478 of Israel H5066 come nigh [H8800] H6944 unto the sanctuary.

20 H4872 And Moses H175 , and Aaron H5712 , and all the congregation H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H6213 , did [H8799] H3881 to the Levites H3068 according unto all that the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765] H4872 Moses H3881 concerning the Levites H6213 , so did [H8804] H1121 the children H3478 of Israel unto them.

21 H3881 And the Levites H2398 were purified [H8691] H3526 , and they washed [H8762] H899 their clothes H175 ; and Aaron H5130 offered [H8686] H8573 them as an offering H6440 before H3068 the LORD H175 ; and Aaron H3722 made an atonement [H8762] H2891 for them to cleanse [H8763] them.

22 H310 And after H935 that went [H8804] H3881 the Levites H5647 in to do [H8800] H5656 their service H168 in the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6440 before H175 Aaron H6440 , and before H1121 his sons H3068 : as the LORD H6680 had commanded [H8765] H4872 Moses H3881 concerning the Levites H6213 , so did [H8804] they unto them.

23 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

24 H3881 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites H6242 : from twenty H2568 and five H8141 years H1121 old H4605 and upward H935 they shall go in [H8799] H6633 to wait [H8800] H6635 H5656 upon the service H168 of the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation:

25 H1121 And from the age H2572 of fifty H8141 years H7725 they shall cease [H8799] H6635 waiting H5656 upon the service H5647 thereof, and shall serve [H8799] no more:

26 H8334 But shall minister [H8765] H251 with their brethren H168 in the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H8104 , to keep [H8800] H4931 the charge H5647 , and shall do [H8799] H5656 no service H6213 . Thus shalt thou do [H8799] H3881 unto the Levites H4931 touching their charge.
