Samuel 26

KJV_Strongs(i)
H2130 And the Ziphites H935 came [H8799]   H7586 unto Saul H1390 to Gibeah H559 , saying [H8800]   H1732 , Doth not David H5641 hide [H8693]   H1389 himself in the hill H2444 of Hachilah H6440 , which is before H3452 Jeshimon?
H7586 Then Saul H6965 arose [H8799]   H3381 , and went down [H8799]   H4057 to the wilderness H2128 of Ziph H7969 , having three H505 thousand H977 chosen [H8803]   H376 men H3478 of Israel H1245 with him, to seek [H8763]   H1732 David H4057 in the wilderness H2128 of Ziph.
H7586 And Saul H2583 pitched [H8799]   H1389 in the hill H2444 of Hachilah H6440 , which is before H3452 Jeshimon H1870 , by the way H1732 . But David H3427 abode [H8802]   H4057 in the wilderness H7200 , and he saw [H8799]   H7586 that Saul H935 came [H8804]   H310 after H4057 him into the wilderness.
H1732 David H7971 therefore sent out [H8799]   H7270 spies [H8764]   H3045 , and understood [H8799]   H7586 that Saul H935 was come [H8804]   H3559 in very deed [H8737]  .
H1732 And David H6965 arose [H8799]   H935 , and came [H8799]   H4725 to the place H7586 where Saul H2583 had pitched [H8804]   H1732 : and David H7200 beheld [H8799]   H4725 the place H7586 where Saul H7901 lay [H8804]   H74 , and Abner H1121 the son H5369 of Ner H8269 , the captain H6635 of his host H7586 : and Saul H7901 lay [H8802]   H4570 in the trench H5971 , and the people H2583 pitched [H8802]   H5439 round about him.
H6030 Then answered [H8799]   H1732 David H559 and said [H8799]   H288 to Ahimelech H2850 the Hittite H52 , and to Abishai H1121 the son H6870 of Zeruiah H251 , brother H3097 to Joab H559 , saying [H8800]   H3381 , Who will go down [H8799]   H7586 with me to Saul H4264 to the camp H52 ? And Abishai H559 said [H8799]   H3381 , I will go down [H8799]   with thee.
H1732 So David H52 and Abishai H935 came [H8799]   H5971 to the people H3915 by night H7586 : and, behold, Saul H7901 lay [H8802]   H3463 sleeping H4570 within the trench H2595 , and his spear H4600 stuck [H8803]   H776 in the ground H4763 at his bolster H74 : but Abner H5971 and the people H7901 lay [H8802]   H5439 round about him.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H52 Abishai H1732 to David H430 , God H5462 hath delivered [H8765]   H341 thine enemy [H8802]   H3027 into thine hand H3117 this day H5221 : now therefore let me smite [H8686]   H2595 him, I pray thee, with the spear H776 even to the earth H6471 at once H259   H8138 , and I will not smite him the second time [H8799]  .
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H52 to Abishai H7843 , Destroy [H8686]   H7971 him not: for who can stretch forth [H8804]   H3027 his hand H3068 against the LORD'S H4899 anointed H5352 , and be guiltless [H8738]  ?
H1732 David H559 said [H8799]   H3068 furthermore, As the LORD H2416 liveth H3068 , the LORD H5062 shall smite [H8799]   H3117 him; or his day H935 shall come [H8799]   H4191 to die [H8804]   H3381 ; or he shall descend [H8799]   H4421 into battle H5595 , and perish [H8738]  .
H3068 The LORD H2486 forbid H7971 that I should stretch forth [H8800]   H3027 mine hand H3068 against the LORD'S H4899 anointed H3947 : but, I pray thee, take [H8798]   H2595 thou now the spear H4763 that is at his bolster H6835 , and the cruse H4325 of water H3212 , and let us go [H8799]  .
H1732 So David H3947 took [H8799]   H2595 the spear H6835 and the cruse H4325 of water H7586 from Saul's H7226 bolster H3212 ; and they gat them away [H8799]   H7200 , and no man saw [H8802]   H3045 it, nor knew [H8802]   H6974 it, neither awaked [H8688]   H3463 : for they were all asleep H8639 ; because a deep sleep H3068 from the LORD H5307 was fallen [H8804]   upon them.
H1732 Then David H5674 went over [H8799]   H5676 to the other side H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H7218 on the top H2022 of an hill H7350 afar off H7227 ; a great H4725 space being between them:
H1732 And David H7121 cried [H8799]   H5971 to the people H74 , and to Abner H1121 the son H5369 of Ner H559 , saying [H8800]   H6030 , Answerest [H8799]   H74 thou not, Abner H74 ? Then Abner H6030 answered [H8799]   H559 and said [H8799]   H7121 , Who art thou that criest [H8804]   H4428 to the king?
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H74 to Abner H376 , Art not thou a valiant man H3478 ? and who is like to thee in Israel H8104 ? wherefore then hast thou not kept [H8804]   H113 thy lord H4428 the king H935 ? for there came [H8804]   H259 one H5971 of the people H7843 in to destroy [H8687]   H4428 the king H113 thy lord.
H1697 This thing H2896 is not good H6213 that thou hast done [H8804]   H3068 . As the LORD H2416 liveth H1121 , ye are worthy H4194 to die H8104 , because ye have not kept [H8804]   H113 your master H3068 , the LORD'S H4899 anointed H7200 . And now see [H8798]   H4428 where the king's H2595 spear H6835 is, and the cruse H4325 of water H4763 that was at his bolster.
H7586 And Saul H5234 knew [H8686]   H1732 David's H6963 voice H559 , and said [H8799]   H6963 , Is this thy voice H1121 , my son H1732 David H1732 ? And David H559 said [H8799]   H6963 , It is my voice H113 , my lord H4428 , O king.
H559 And he said [H8799]   H113 , Wherefore doth my lord H7291 thus pursue [H8802]   H310 after H5650 his servant H6213 ? for what have I done [H8804]   H7451 ? or what evil H3027 is in mine hand?
H113 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord H4428 the king H8085 hear [H8799]   H1697 the words H5650 of his servant H3068 . If the LORD H5496 have stirred thee up [H8689]   H7306 against me, let him accept [H8686]   H4503 an offering H1121 : but if they be the children H120 of men H779 , cursed [H8803]   H6440 be they before H3068 the LORD H1644 ; for they have driven [H8765]   H3117 me out this day H5596 from abiding [H8692]   H5159 in the inheritance H3068 of the LORD H559 , saying [H8800]   H3212 , Go [H8798]   H5647 , serve [H8798]   H312 other H430 gods.
H1818 Now therefore, let not my blood H5307 fall [H8799]   H776 to the earth H6440 before the face H3068 of the LORD H4428 : for the king H3478 of Israel H3318 is come out [H8804]   H1245 to seek [H8763]   H259 a H6550 flea H7291 , as when one doth hunt [H8799]   H7124 a partridge H2022 in the mountains.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H7586 Saul H2398 , I have sinned [H8804]   H7725 : return [H8798]   H1121 , my son H1732 David H7489 : for I will no more do thee harm [H8686]   H5315 , because my soul H3365 was precious [H8804]   H5869 in thine eyes H3117 this day H5528 : behold, I have played the fool [H8689]   H7686 , and have erred [H8799]   H7235 exceedingly [H8687]   H3966  .
H1732 And David H6030 answered [H8799]   H559 and said [H8799]   H4428 , Behold the king's H2595 spear H259 ! and let one H5288 of the young men H5674 come over [H8799]   H3947 and fetch [H8799]   it.
H3068 The LORD H7725 render [H8686]   H376 to every man H6666 his righteousness H530 and his faithfulness H3068 : for the LORD H5414 delivered [H8804]   H3027 thee into my hand H3117 to day H14 , but I would [H8804]   H7971 not stretch forth [H8800]   H3027 mine hand H3068 against the LORD'S H4899 anointed.
H5315 And, behold, as thy life H1431 was much set by [H8804]   H3117 this day H5869 in mine eyes H5315 , so let my life H1431 be much set by [H8799]   H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD H5337 , and let him deliver [H8686]   H6869 me out of all tribulation.
H7586 Then Saul H559 said [H8799]   H1732 to David H1288 , Blessed [H8803]   H1121 be thou, my son H1732 David H6213 : thou shalt both do [H8799]   H6213 great [H8800]   H3201 things, and also shalt still [H8800]   H3201 prevail [H8799]   H1732 . So David H3212 went [H8799]   H1870 on his way H7586 , and Saul H7725 returned [H8804]   H4725 to his place.
ERV(i) 1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert? 2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. 3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. 4 David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come of a certainty. 5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay within the place of the wagons, and the people pitched round about him. 6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee. 7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the place of the wagons, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him. 8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered up thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time. 9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can put forth his hand against the LORD’S anointed, and be guiltless? 10 And David said, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle, and perish. 11 The LORD forbid that I should put forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed: but now take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go. 12 So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s head; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them. 13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mountain afar off; a great space being between them: 14 and David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saving, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king? 15 And David said to Abner, Art not thou a [valiant] man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept watch over thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord. 16 This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept watch over your lord, the LORD’S anointed. And now, see, where the king’s spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head. 17 And Saul knew David’s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king. 18 And he said, Wherefore doth my lord pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand? 19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it be the LORD that hath stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if it be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day that I should not cleave unto the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods. 20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains. 21 Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my life was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly. 22 And David answered and said, Behold the spear, O king! let then one of the young men come over and fetch it. 23 And the LORD shall render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: forasmuch as the LORD delivered thee into my hand today, and I would not put forth mine hand against the LORD’S anointed. 24 And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation. 25 Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do mightily, and shalt surely prevail. So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
