1 Samuel 26 And the Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?

1 H2130 And the Ziphites H935 came H7586 to Saul H1390 to Gibeah, H559 saying, H1732 Does not David H5641 hide H1389 himself in the hill H2444 of Hachilah, H834 which H5921 is before H6440 H3452 Jeshimon?

2 H7586 Then Saul H6965 arose, H3381 and went H3381 down H4057 to the wilderness H2128 of Ziph, H7969 having three H505 thousand H970 chosen H376 men H3478 of Israel H1245 with him, to seek H1732 David H4057 in the wilderness H2128 of Ziph.

3 H7586 And Saul H2583 pitched H1389 in the hill H2444 of Hachilah, H834 which H5921 is before H6440 H3452 Jeshimon, H1870 by the way. H1732 But David H3427 stayed H4057 in the wilderness, H7200 and he saw H7586 that Saul H935 came H310 after H4057 him into the wilderness.

4 H1732 David H7971 therefore sent H7270 out spies, H3045 and understood H7586 that Saul H935 was come H3559 in very H3559 deed.

5 H1732 And David H6965 arose, H935 and came H4725 to the place H834 where H8033 H7586 Saul H2583 had pitched: H1732 and David H7200 beheld H4725 the place H834 where H8033 H7586 Saul H7901 lay, H74 and Abner H1121 the son H5369 of Ner, H8269 the captain H6635 of his host: H7586 and Saul H7901 lay H4570 in the trench, H5971 and the people H2583 pitched H5439 round about him.

6 H6030 Then answered H1732 David H559 and said H288 to Ahimelech H2850 the Hittite, H52 and to Abishai H1121 the son H6870 of Zeruiah, H251 brother H3097 to Joab, H559 saying, H4310 Who H3381 will go H3381 down H7586 with me to Saul H4264 to the camp? H52 And Abishai H559 said, H3381 I will go H3381 down with you.

7 H1732 So David H52 and Abishai H935 came H5971 to the people H3915 by night: H2009 and, behold, H7586 Saul H7901 lay H3463 sleeping H4570 within the trench, H2595 and his spear H4600 stuck H776 in the ground H4763 at his bolster: H74 but Abner H5971 and the people H7901 lay H5439 round about him.

8 H559 Then said H52 Abishai H1732 to David, H430 God H5462 has delivered H341 your enemy H3027 into your hand H3117 this day: H6258 now H5221 therefore let me smite H4994 him, I pray H2595 you, with the spear H776 even to the earth H6471 at once, H259 H8138 and I will not smite him the second time.

9 H1732 And David H559 said H52 to Abishai, H7843 Destroy H4310 him not: for who H7971 can stretch H3027 forth his hand H3068 against the LORD’s H4899 anointed, H5352 and be guiltless?

10 H1732 David H559 said H3068 furthermore, As the LORD H2416 lives, H3068 the LORD H5062 shall smite H176 him; or H3117 his day H935 shall come H4191 to die; H3381 or he shall descend H4421 into battle, H5595 and perish.

11 H3068 The LORD H2486 forbid H7971 that I should stretch H3027 forth my hand H3068 against the LORD’s H4899 anointed: H4994 but, I pray H3947 you, take H6258 you now H2595 the spear H4763 that is at his bolster, H6835 and the cruse H4325 of water, H3212 and let us go.

12 H1732 So David H3947 took H2595 the spear H6835 and the cruse H4325 of water H7586 from Saul’s H4763 bolster; H3212 and they got H3212 them away, H369 and no H7200 man saw H369 it, nor H3045 knew H369 it, neither H6974 awaked: H3605 for they were all H3463 asleep; H3588 because H8639 a deep H8639 sleep H3068 from the LORD H5307 was fallen on them.

13 H1732 Then David H5674 went H5674 over H5676 to the other H5676 side, H5975 and stood H5921 on H7218 the top H2022 of an hill H7350 afar H7227 off; a great H4725 space H996 being between them:

14 H1732 And David H7121 cried H5971 to the people, H74 and to Abner H1121 the son H5369 of Ner, H559 saying, H6030 Answer H74 you not, Abner? H74 Then Abner H6030 answered H559 and said, H4310 Who H7121 are you that cry H4428 to the king?

15 H1732 And David H559 said H74 to Abner, H376 Are not you a valiant man? H4310 and who H3644 is like H3478 to you in Israel? H4100 why H8104 then have you not kept H113 your lord H4428 the king? H935 for there came H259 one H5971 of the people H7843 in to destroy H4428 the king H113 your lord.

16 H2088 This H1697 thing H2896 is not good H6213 that you have done. H3068 As the LORD H2416 lives, H1121 you are worthy H4194 to die, H834 because H8104 you have not kept H113 your master, H3068 the LORD’s H4899 anointed. H6258 And now H7200 see H335 where H4428 the king’s H2595 spear H6835 is, and the cruse H4325 of water H4763 that was at his bolster.

17 H7586 And Saul H5234 knew H1732 David’s H6963 voice, H559 and said, H2088 Is this H6963 your voice, H1121 my son H1732 David? H1732 And David H559 said, H6963 It is my voice, H113 my lord, H4428 O king.

18 H559 And he said, H4100 Why H113 does my lord H2088 thus H7291 pursue H310 after H5650 his servant? H4100 for what H6213 have I done? H4100 or what H7451 evil H3027 is in my hand?

19 H6258 Now H4994 therefore, I pray H113 you, let my lord H4428 the king H8085 hear H1697 the words H5650 of his servant. H518 If H3068 the LORD H5496 have stirred H7306 you up against me, let him accept H4503 an offering: H518 but if H1121 they be the children H120 of men, H779 cursed H6440 be they before H3068 the LORD; H1644 for they have driven H3117 me out this day H5596 from abiding H5159 in the inheritance H3068 of the LORD, H559 saying, H3212 Go, H5647 serve H312 other H430 gods.

20 H6258 Now H1818 therefore, let not my blood H5307 fall H776 to the earth H5048 before H6440 the face H3068 of the LORD: H4428 for the king H3478 of Israel H3318 is come H1245 out to seek H6550 a flea, H834 as when H7291 one does hunt H7124 a partridge H2022 in the mountains.

21 H559 Then said H7586 Saul, H2398 I have sinned: H7725 return, H1121 my son H1732 David: H3808 for I will no H5750 more H7489 do you harm, H8478 because H834 H5315 my soul H3365 was precious H5869 in your eyes H2088 this H3117 day: H2009 behold, H5528 I have played the fool, H7683 and have erred H7235 exceedingly. H3966

22 H1732 And David H6030 answered H559 and said, H2009 Behold H4428 the king’s H2595 spear! H259 and let one H5288 of the young H5674 men come H5674 over H3947 and fetch it.

23 H3068 The LORD H7725 render H376 to every man H6666 his righteousness H530 and his faithfulness; H3068 for the LORD H5414 delivered H3027 you into my hand H3117 to day, H14 but I would H7971 not stretch H3027 forth my hand H3068 against the LORD’s H4899 anointed.

24 H2009 And, behold, H5315 as your life H1431 was much H1431 set H2088 by this H3117 day H5869 in my eyes, H3651 so H5315 let my life H1431 be much H1431 set H5869 by in the eyes H3068 of the LORD, H5337 and let him deliver H3605 me out of all H6869 tribulation.

25 H7586 Then Saul H559 said H1732 to David, H1288 Blessed H1121 be you, my son H1732 David: H1571 you shall both H6213 do H1571 great things, and also H3201 shall still prevail. H1732 So David H3212 went H1870 on his way, H7586 and Saul H7725 returned H4725 to his place.
