Joshua 10 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly secluded it; as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

1 H139 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedek H4428 king H3389 of Jerusalem H8085 [H8800] had heard H3588 how H3091 Joshua H3920 [H8804] had taken H5857 Ai, H2763 [H8686] and had utterly secluded H6213 [H8804] it; as he had done H3405 to Jericho H4428 and its king, H6213 [H8804] so he had done H5857 to Ai H4428 and its king; H3427 [H8802] and how the inhabitants H1391 of Gibeon H7999 [H8689] had made peace H3478 with Israel, H7130 and were among them;

2 H3372 [H8799] That they feared H3966 greatly, H1391 because Gibeon H1419 was a great H5892 city, H259 as one H4467 of the royal H5892 cities, H1419 and because it was greater H5857 than Ai, H582 and all its men H1368 were mighty.

3 H139 Therefore Adonizedek H4428 king H3389 of Jerusalem H7971 [H8799] sent H1944 to Hoham H4428 king H2275 of Hebron, H6502 and to Piram H4428 king H3412 of Jarmuth, H3309 and to Japhia H4428 king H3923 of Lachish, H1688 and to Debir H4428 king H5700 of Eglon, H559 [H8800] saying,

4 H5927 [H8798] Come up H5826 [H8798] to me, and help H5221 [H8686] me, that we may smite H1391 Gibeon: H7999 [H8689] for it hath made peace H3091 with Joshua H1121 and with the sons H3478 of Israel.

5 H2568 Therefore the five H4428 kings H567 of the Amorites, H4428 the king H3389 of Jerusalem, H4428 the king H2275 of Hebron, H4428 the king H3412 of Jarmuth, H4428 the king H3923 of Lachish, H4428 the king H5700 of Eglon, H622 [H8735] gathered themselves together, H5927 [H8799] and went up, H4264 they and all their hosts, H2583 [H8799] and encamped H1391 before Gibeon, H3898 [H8735] and made war against it.

6 H582 And the men H1391 of Gibeon H7971 [H8799] sent H3091 to Joshua H4264 to the camp H1537 at Gilgal, H559 [H8800] saying, H7503 H3027 [H8686] Do not forsake H5650 thy servants; H5927 [H8798] come up H4120 to us quickly, H3467 [H8685] and liberate H5826 [H8798] us, and help H4428 us: for all the kings H567 of the Amorites H3427 [H8802] that dwell H2022 in the mountains H6908 [H8738] are gathered together against us.

7 H3091 So Joshua H5927 [H8799] went up H1537 from Gilgal, H5971 he, and all the people H4421 of war H1368 with him, and all the mighty H2428 men of valour.

8 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H3091 to Joshua, H3372 [H8799] Fear H5414 [H8804] them not: for I have given H3027 them into thine hand; H376 there shall not a man H5975 [H8799] of them stand H6440 at the face of thee.

9 H3091 Joshua H935 [H8799] therefore came H6597 to them suddenly, H5927 [H8804] and went up H1537 from Gilgal H3915 all night.

10 H3068 And the LORD H2000 [H8799] put them in commotion H6440 at the face of H3478 Israel, H5221 [H8686] and slew H1419 them with a great H4347 slaughter H1391 at Gibeon, H7291 [H8799] and chased H1870 them along the way H4608 that goeth up H1032 to Bethhoron, H5221 [H8686] and smote H5825 them to Azekah, H4719 and to Makkedah.

11 H5127 [H8800] And it came to pass, as they fled H6440 from the face of H3478 Israel, H4174 and were in the descent H1032 to Bethhoron, H3068 that the LORD H7993 [H8689] cast down H1419 great H68 stones H8064 from heaven H5825 upon them to Azekah, H4191 [H8799] and they died: H7227 they were more H4191 [H8804] who died H1259 H68 with hailstones H834 than they whom H1121 the sons H3478 of Israel H2026 [H8804] slew H2719 with the sword.

12 H1696 [H8762] Then spoke H3091 Joshua H3068 to the LORD H3117 in the day H3068 when the LORD H5414 [H8800] gave up H567 the Amorites H6440 at the face of H1121 the sons H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8799] and he said H5869 in the eyes H3478 of Israel, H8121 Sun, H1826 [H8798] stand thou still H1391 upon Gibeon; H3394 and thou, Moon, H6010 in the valley H357 of Ajalon.

13 H8121 And the sun H1826 [H8799] stood still, H3394 and the moon H5975 [H8804] stayed, H1471 until the nation H5358 [H8799] had avenged H341 [H8802] themselves upon their enemies. H1931 Is not this H3789 [H8803] written H5612 in the book H3477 of Jasher? H8121 So the sun H5975 [H8799] stood still H2677 in the midst H8064 of heaven, H213 [H8804] and hasted H935 [H8800] not to go down H8549 about a whole H3117 day.

14 H3117 And there was no day H6440 like that at the face of H310 it or after H3068 it, that the LORD H8085 [H8800] hearkened H6963 to the voice H376 of a man: H3068 for the LORD H3898 [H8737] fought H3478 for Israel.

15 H3091 And Joshua H7725 [H8799] returned, H3478 and all Israel H4264 with him, to the camp H1537 at Gilgal.

16 H2568 But these five H4428 kings H5127 [H8799] fled, H2244 [H8735] and hid H4631 themselves in a cave H4719 at Makkedah.

17 H5046 [H8714] And it was told H3091 Joshua, H559 [H8800] saying, H2568 The five H4428 kings H4672 [H8738] are found H2244 [H8737] hid H4631 in a cave H4719 at Makkedah.

18 H3091 And Joshua H559 [H8799] said, H1556 [H8798] Roll H1419 great H68 stones H6310 upon the mouth H4631 of the cave, H6485 [H8685] and set H582 men H8104 [H8800] by it to keep them:

19 H5975 [H8799] And stay H7291 H310 [H8798] you not, but pursue H341 [H8802] your enemies, H2179 [H8765] and smite the rear H5414 [H8799] of them; permit H935 [H8800] them not to enter H5892 into their cities: H3068 for the LORD H430 your God H5414 [H8804] hath given H3027 them into your hand.

20 H3091 And it came to pass, when Joshua H1121 and the sons H3478 of Israel H3615 [H8763] had finished H5221 [H8687] slaying H3966 them with a very H1419 great H4347 slaughter, H8552 [H8800] till they were consumed, H8300 that the rest H8277 [H8804] who remained H935 [H8799] of them entered H4013 into fortified H5892 cities.

21 H5971 And all the people H7725 [H8799] returned H4264 to the camp H3091 to Joshua H4719 at Makkedah H7965 in peace: H2782 [H8804] none moved H3956 his tongue H376 against any H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel.

22 H559 [H8799] Then said H3091 Joshua, H6605 [H8798] Open H6310 the mouth H4631 of the cave, H3318 [H8685] and bring H2568 those five H4428 kings H4631 to me out of the cave.

23 H6213 [H8799] And they did H3318 [H8686] so, and brought H2568 those five H4428 kings H4631 to him out of the cave, H4428 the king H3389 of Jerusalem, H4428 the king H2275 of Hebron, H4428 the king H3412 of Jarmuth, H4428 the king H3923 of Lachish, H4428 and the king H5700 of Eglon.

24 H3318 [H8687] And it came to pass, when they brought out H4428 those kings H3091 to Joshua, H3091 that Joshua H7121 [H8799] called H376 for all the men H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8799] and said H7101 to the captains H582 of the men H4421 of war H1980 [H8804] who went H7126 [H8798] with him, Come near, H7760 [H8798] put H7272 your feet H6677 upon the necks H4428 of these kings. H7126 [H8799] And they came near, H7760 [H8799] and put H7272 their feet H6677 upon the necks of them.

25 H3091 And Joshua H559 [H8799] said H3372 [H8799] to them, Fear H2865 [H8735] not, nor be dismayed, H2388 [H8798] be strong H553 [H8798] and of good courage: H3068 for thus shall the LORD H6213 [H8799] do H341 [H8802] to all your enemies H3898 [H8737] against whom ye fight.

26 H310 And afterward H3091 Joshua H5221 [H8686] smote H4191 [H8686] them, and slew H8518 [H8799] them, and hanged H2568 them on five H6086 trees: H8518 [H8803] and they were hanging H6086 upon the trees H6153 until the evening.

27 H6256 And it came to pass at the time H935 [H8800] of the setting H8121 of the sun, H3091 that Joshua H6680 [H8765] commanded, H3381 [H8686] and they took them down H6086 from the trees, H7993 [H8686] and cast H4631 them into the cave H2244 [H8738] in which they had been hid, H7760 [H8799] and laid H1419 great H68 stones H4631 upon the cave's H6310 mouth, H6106 which remain until this very H3117 day.

28 H3117 And that day H3091 Joshua H3920 [H8804] took H4719 Makkedah, H5221 [H8686] and smote H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword, H4428 and its king H2763 [H8689] he utterly secluded, H5315 them, and all the breaths H7604 [H8689] that were in it; he let H8300 none remain: H6213 [H8799] and he did H4428 to the king H4719 of Makkedah H6213 [H8804] as he did H4428 to the king H3405 of Jericho.

29 H3091 Then Joshua H5674 [H8799] passed H4719 from Makkedah, H3478 and all Israel H3841 with him, to Libnah, H3898 [H8735] and fought H3841 against Libnah:

30 H3068 And the LORD H5414 [H8799] gave H4428 it also, and its king, H3027 into the hand H3478 of Israel; H5221 [H8686] and he smote H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword, H5315 and all the breaths H7604 [H8689] that were in it; he let H8300 none remain H6213 [H8799] in it; but did H4428 to its king H6213 [H8804] as he did H4428 to the king H3405 of Jericho.

31 H3091 And Joshua H5674 [H8799] passed H3841 from Libnah, H3478 and all Israel H3923 with him, to Lachish, H2583 [H8799] and encamped H3898 [H8735] against it, and fought against it:

32 H3068 And the LORD H5414 [H8799] gave H3923 Lachish H3027 into the hand H3478 of Israel, H3920 [H8799] who took H8145 it on the second H3117 day, H5221 [H8686] and smote H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword, H5315 and all the breaths H6213 [H8804] that were in it, according to all that he had done H3841 to Libnah.

33 H2036 Then Horam H4428 king H1507 of Gezer H5927 [H8804] came up H5826 [H8800] to help H3923 Lachish; H3091 and Joshua H5221 [H8686] smote H5971 him and his people, H7604 [H8689] until he had left H8300 him none remaining.

34 H3923 And from Lachish H3091 Joshua H5674 [H8799] passed H5700 to Eglon, H3478 and all Israel H2583 [H8799] with him; and they encamped H3898 [H8735] against it, and fought against it:

35 H3920 [H8799] And they took H3117 it on that day, H5221 [H8686] and smote H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword, H5315 and all the breaths H2763 [H8689] that were in it he utterly secluded H3117 that day, H6213 [H8804] according to all that he had done H3923 to Lachish.

36 H3091 And Joshua H5927 [H8799] went up H5700 from Eglon, H3478 and all Israel H2275 with him, to Hebron; H3898 [H8735] and they fought against it:

37 H3920 [H8799] And they took H5221 [H8686] it, and smote H6310 it with the edge H2719 of the sword, H4428 and its king, H5892 and all its cities H5315 and all the breaths H7604 [H8689] that were in them; he left H8300 none remaining, H6213 [H8804] according to all that he had done H5700 to Eglon; H2763 [H8686] but secluded H5315 it utterly, and all the breaths that were in it.

38 H3091 And Joshua H7725 [H8799] returned, H3478 and all Israel H1688 with him, to Debir; H3898 [H8735] and fought against it:

39 H3920 [H8799] And he took H4428 it, and its king, H5892 and all its cities; H5221 [H8686] and they smote H6310 them with the edge H2719 of the sword, H2763 [H8686] and utterly secluded H5315 all the breaths H7604 [H8689] that were in them; he left H8300 none remaining: H6213 [H8804] as he had done H2275 to Hebron, H6213 [H8804] so he did H1688 to Debir, H4428 and to its king; H6213 [H8804] as he had done H3841 also to Libnah, H4428 and to its king.

40 H3091 So Joshua H5221 [H8686] smote H776 all the land H2022 of the mountains, H5045 and of the south, H8219 and of the vale, H794 and of the springs, H4428 and all their kings: H7604 [H8689] he left H8300 none remaining, H2763 [H8689] but utterly secluded H5397 all that breathed, H3068 as the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H6680 [H8765] commanded.

41 H3091 And Joshua H5221 [H8686] smote H6947 them from Kadeshbarnea H5804 even to Gaza, H776 and all the land H1657 of Goshen, H1391 even to Gibeon.

42 H4428 And all these kings H776 and their land H3091 did Joshua H3920 [H8804] take H259 at one H6471 time, H3068 because the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H3898 [H8737] fought H3478 for Israel.

43 H3091 And Joshua H7725 [H8799] returned, H3478 and all Israel H4264 with him, to the camp H1537 in Gilgal.
