Clementine_Vulgate(i)
12 peccavimus, impie egimus, inique gessimus, Domine Deus noster, in omnibus justitiis tuis.
13 Avertatur ira tua a nobis, quia derelicti sumus pauci inter gentes ubi dispersisti nos.
28 sicut locutus es in manu pueri tui Moysi, in die qua præcepisti ei scribere legem tuam coram filiis Israël,
33 et avertent se a dorso suo duro, et a malignitatibus suis: quia reminiscentur viam patrum suorum, qui peccaverunt in me.

1 For which thing oure Lord God settide stidfastli his word, which he spak to vs, and to oure iugis, that demyden in Israel, and to oure kyngis, and to oure princes, and to al Israel and Juda;
1 And now, Lord almiyti, God of Israel, a soule in angwischis and a spirit anoied crieth to thee.
2 that the Lord schulde brynge on vs grete yuels, that weren not don vndur heuene, as tho ben doon in Jerusalem; bi tho thingis that ben writun in the lawe of Moises,
2 Lord, here thou, and haue merci, for thou art merciful God; and haue thou merci on vs, for we han synned bifor thee,
3 that a man schulde ete the fleischis of his sone, and the fleischis of his douyter.
3 that sittist withouten ende, and we schulen not perische withouten ende.
4 And he yaf hem in to the hond of alle kyngis, that ben in oure cumpas, in to schenschipe, and in to desolacioun in alle puplis, among whiche the Lord scateride vs.
4 Lord God almiyti, God of Israel, here thou now the preier of the deed men of Israel, and of the sones of hem, that synneden bifor thee, and herden not the vois of her Lord God, and yuels ben fastned to vs.
5 And we ben maad bynethe, and not aboue; for we synneden to oure Lord God, in not obeiynge to the vois of hym.
5 Nyle thou haue mynde on the wickidnesse of oure fadris, but haue thou mynde on thin hond and on thi name in this tyme;
6 Riytfulnesse is to oure Lord God, but schenschipe of face is to vs and to oure fadris, as this dai is.
6 for thou art oure Lord God, and, Lord, we schulen herie thee.
7 For the Lord spak on vs alle these yuels, that camen on vs.
7 For whi for this thing thou hast youe thi drede in oure hertis, that we clepe thi name to help, and herie thee in oure caitiftee; for we schulen be conuertid fro the wickidnesse of oure fadris, that synneden ayens thee.
8 And we bisouyten not the face of oure Lord God, that we schulden turne ayen, ech of vs fro oure worste weies.
8 And lo! we ben in oure caitifte to dai, whidur thou scateridist vs, in to schenschipe, and in to cursyng, and in to synne, bi al the wickidnesse of oure fadris, that yeden awei fro thee, thou oure Lord God.
9 And the Lord wakide in yuels, and brouyte tho on vs; for the Lord is iust in alle hise werkis, whiche he comaundide to vs.
10 And we herden not the vois of hym, that we schulden go in the comaundementis of the Lord, whiche he yaf bifore oure face.
11 And now, Lord God of Israel, that leddist thi puple out of the lond of Egipt in a strong hond, and in myraclis, and in grete wondris, and in thi greet vertu, and in an hiy arm, and madist to thee a name, as this dai is;
12 we han synned, we han do vnfeithfuli, we han do wickidli, oure Lord God, in alle thi riytfulnessis.
13 Thi wrath be turned awey fro vs; for we ben left a fewe among hethene men, where thou scateridist vs.
14 Lord, here thou oure axyngis, and oure preyeris, and lede vs out for thee; and yyue thou to vs to fynde grace bifore the face of hem, that ledden vs awei;
15 that al erthe knowe, that thou art oure Lord God, and that thi name is clepid to help on Israel, and on the kyn of hym.
16 Lord, bihold thou fro thin hooli hous on vs, and bouwe doun thin eere, and here vs.
17 Opene thin iyen, and se; for not deed men that ben in helle, whos spirit is takun fro her entrails, schulen yyue onour and iustefiyng to the Lord;
18 but a soule which is sori on the greetnesse of yuel, and goith bowid, and sijk, and iyen failynge, and an hungri soule, yyueth glorie to thee, and riytfulnesse to the Lord.
19 For not bi the riytfulnesses of oure fadris we `scheden merci bifore thi siyt, oure Lord God;
20 but for thou sentist thi wraththe and thi stronge veniaunce on vs, as thou spakest in the hondis of thi children profetis,
21 and seidist, Thus seith the Lord, Bowe ye youre schuldur, and youre necke, and do ye trauel to the kyng of Babiloyne; and ye schulen sitte in the lond, which Y yaf to youre fadris.
22 That if ye don not, nethir heren the vois of youre Lord God, to worche to the kyng of Babiloyne, Y schal make youre failyng fro the citees of Juda, and fro the yatis of Jerusalem;
23 and Y schal take awei fro you the vois of gladnesse, and the vois of ioye, and the vois of spouse, and the vois of spousesse; and al the lond schal be with out step of hem that dwellen therynne.
24 And thei herden not thi vois, that thei schulden worche to the kyng of Babiloyne; and thou hast set stidfastli thi wordis, whiche thou spakist in the hondis of thi children, prophetis; that the boonys of oure kyngis, and the boonys of oure fadris schulen be borun ouer fro her place.
25 And lo! tho ben cast forth in the heete of the sunne, and in the frost of niyt; and men ben deed in the worste sorewis, in hungur, and in swerd, and in sending out.
26 And thou hast set the temple in which thi name was clepid to help, as this dai schewith, for the wickidnesse of the hous of Israel, and of the hous of Juda.
27 And thou, oure Lord God, hast do in vs bi al thi goodnesse, and bi al that greet merciful doyng of thee,
28 as thou spakest in the hond of thi child Moises, in the dai in which thou comaundidist to hym to write thi lawe bifore the sones of Israel, and seidist,
29 If ye heren not my vois, this greet ournyng and myche schal be turned in to the leest among hethene men, whidur Y schal scatere hem.
30 For Y woot, that the puple schal not here me, for it is a puple of hard nol. And it schal turne to her herte in the lond of her caitiftee;
31 and thei schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God of hem. And Y schal yyue to hem an herte, and thei schulen vndurstonde, and eeris, and thei schulen here.
32 And thei schulen herie me in the lond of her caitiftee, and thei schulen be myndeful of my name.
33 Thei schulen turne awei hem silf fro her hard bak, and fro her wickidnessis; for thei schulen haue mynde of the wei of her fadris, that synneden ayens me.
34 And Y schal ayen clepe hem in to the lond, which Y swoor to yyue to the fadris of hem, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and thei schulen be lordis of it. And Y schal multiplie hem, and thei schulen not be maad lesse.
35 And Y schal ordeyne to hem an other testament euerlastynge, that Y be to hem in to God, and thei schulen be to me in to a puple. And Y schal no more moue my puple, the sones of Israel, fro the lond which Y yaf to hem.

1 Therefore the Lorde our God hath perfourmed his woorde, which hee pronounced against vs, and against our iudges that gouerned Israel, and against our Kings, and against our princes, and against the men of Israel and Iuda,
2 To bring vpon vs great plagues, such as neuer came to passe vnder the whole heauen, as they that were done in Ierusalem, according to things, that were written in the Lawe of Moises,
3 That some among vs should eat ye flesh of his owne sonne, & some the flesh of his owne daughter.
4 Moreouer, hee hath deliuered them to be in subiection to all the kingdomes, that are rounde about vs, to bee as a reproche and desolation among all the people rounde about where the Lorde hath scattered them.
5 Thus they are brought beneath and not aboue, because we haue sinned against the Lorde our God, and haue not heard his voyce.
6 To the Lord our God apperteineth righteousnes, but vnto vs and to our fathers open shame, as appeareth this day.
7 For all these plagues are come vpon vs, which the Lord hath pronounced against vs.
8 Yet haue we not praied before the Lord, that we might turne euery one from the imaginations of his owne wicked heart.
9 So the Lord hath watched ouer the plagues, and the Lorde hath brought them vpon vs: for the Lord is righteous in all his woorkes, which he hath commanded vs.
10 Yet wee haue not hearkened vnto his voyce, to walke in the commandements of the Lorde that he hath giuen vnto vs.
11 And nowe, O Lord God of Israel, that hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mightie hand, and an hie arme, and with signes, and with wonders, and with great power, and hast gotten thy selfe a Name, as appeareth this day,
12 O Lorde our God, we haue sinned: we haue done wickedly: we haue offended in all thine ordinances.
13 Let thy wrath turne from vs: for we are but a fewe left among the heathen, where thou hast scattered vs.
14 Heare our praiers, O Lorde, and our peticions, and deliuer vs for thine owne sake, and giue vs fauor in the sight of them, which haue led vs away,
15 That all the earth may knowe that thou art the Lord our God, and that thy Name is called vpon Israel and vpon their posteritie.
16 Therefore looke downe fro thine holy Temple, and thinke vpon vs: encline thine eare, O Lord, and heare vs.
17 Open thine eyes, and beholde: for the dead that are in the graues, and whose soules are out of their bodies, giue vnto the Lorde neither praise, nor righteousnesse.
18 But the soule that is vexed for the greatnesse of sinne, and hee that goeth crookedly, and weake, and the eyes that faile, and the hungrie soule will giue thee praise and righteousnesse, O Lord.
19 For wee doe not require mercie in thy sight, O Lorde our God, for the righteousnesse of our fathers, or of our Kings,
20 But because thou hast sent out thy wrath andindignation vpon vs, as thou hast spoken by thy seruants the Prophets, saying,
21 Thus sayth the Lorde, Bowe downe your shoulders, and serue the King of Babylon: so shal ye remaine in the land, that I gaue vnto your fathers.
22 But if ye will not heare the voyce of ye Lord, to serue the King of Babylon,
23 I will cause to cease in the cities of Iuda, and in Ierusalem, I wil cause to cease the voyce of mirth, and the voyce of ioye, and the voyce of the bridegrome, and the voyce of the bride, and the land shal be desolate of inhabitants.
24 But we woulde not hearken vnto thy voyce, to serue the King of Babylon: therefore hast thou performed the wordes that thou spakest by thy seruants the Prophets: namely, that the bones of our Kings, and the bones of our fathers should be caried out of their places.
25 And lo, they are cast out to the heate of the day, and to the colde of the night, and are dead in great miserie with famine, and with the sworde, and in banishment.
26 And the Temple wherein thy Name was called vpon, thou hast brought to ye state, as appeareth this day, for the wickednesse of the house of Israel, and the house of Iuda.
27 O Lorde our God, thou hast intreated vs according to equitie, and according to all thy great mercie.
28 As thou spakest by thy seruant Moyses, in the day when thou diddest commande him to write thy Lawe before the children of Israel, saying,
29 If ye will not obey my voyce, then shall this great swarme and multitude be turned into a verie fewe among the nations where I will scatter them.
30 For I know that they will not heare me: for it is a stifnecked people: but in the lande of their captiuitie they shall remember themselues,
31 And knowe that I am the Lorde their God: then wil I giue them an heart to vnderstand, & eares.
32 And they shall heare, & prayse me in the land of their captiuitie, and thinke vpon my Name.
33 Then shall they turne them from their hard backes, and from their euill workes: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, which sinned before the Lord.
34 And I will bring them againe into the land, which I promised with an othe vnto their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Iacob, and they shalbe Lordes of it: and I will increase them, and they shall not be diminished.
35 And I will make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I will be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more driue my people of Israel out of the land that I haue giuen them.

1 For the which cause the Lorde our God hath perfourmed his deuice, whereof he certified vs, & our heades that ruled in Hierusalem, yea & our kinges, our princes, with all Israel and Iuda:
2 And such plagues hath the Lorde brought vpon vs, as neuer came to passe vnder the heauen, lyke as it is fulfilled in Hierusalem, according as it is written in the lawe of Moyses,
3 That a man shoulde eate the flesh of his owne sonne, & the flesh of his owne daughter.
4 Moreouer, he hath deliuered them into the handes of all the kinges that are rounde about vs, to be confounded and desolate, and scattered them abrode in al landes and nations.
5 Thus are we brought beneath and not aboue, because we haue sinned against the Lorde our God, and haue not ben obedient vnto his voyce.
6 Therefore the Lorde our God is righteous, and we with our fathers [as reason is] are bronght to open shame, as it is to see this day.
7 And as for these plagues that are come vpon vs alredy, the Lorde had deuised them for vs:
8 Yet would we not pray vnto the Lord our God, that we might euery man turne from his vngodlie wayes.
9 So the Lord hath caused such plagues to come vpon vs: for he is righteous in all his workes which he hath comaunded vs:
10 Which we also haue not done, nor hearkened vnto his voyce for to walke in the commaundementes of the Lorde, that he hath geuen vnto vs.
11 And nowe O Lorde God of Israel, thou that hast brought thy people out of the lande of Egypt with a mightie hande, with tokens and wonders, with thy great power & outstretched arme, and hast gotten thy selfe a name, as it is come to passe this day:
12 O Lord our God, we haue sinned, we haue done wickedly, we haue behaued our selues vngodly in all thy righteousnesses.
13 Turne thy wrath from vs [we beseche thee,] for we are but a fewe left among the heathe where thou hast scatered vs.
14 Heare our prayers O Lorde, and our petitions, bring vs out of captiuitie for thyne owne sake, get vs fauour in the sight of them which haue led vs away:
15 That all landes may know that thou art the Lorde our God, and that Israel and his generation calleth vpon thy name.
16 O Lorde loke downe from thy holy house vpon vs, encline thyne eare and heare vs.
17 Open thyne eyes, and beholde: for the dead that be gone downe to their graues, & whose soules are out of their bodies, ascribe vnto the Lorde neither prayse nor righteousnes:
18 But the soule that is vexed for the multitude [of her sinnes,] which goeth on heauyly and weakly, whose eyes begin to faile, yea such a soule ascribeth prayse and righteousnes vnto the Lorde.
19 For we poure out our prayers before thee, and require mercie in thy sight O Lorde our God, not for any godlynes of our fathers:
20 But because thou hast sent out thy wrath and indignation vpon vs, according as thou diddest threaten vs by thy seruauntes the prophetes, saying:
21 Thus saith the Lorde, Bowe downe your shoulders and neckes, and serue the king of Babylon: so shall ye remaine still in the lande that I gaue vnto your fathers.
22 But if ye wyll not heare the voyce of the Lorde your God, to serue the king of Babylon,
23 I wyll destroy you in the cities of Iuda within Hierusalem and without: I wyll also take from you the voyce of mirth and the voyce of ioy, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride, and there shal no man dwel more in the lande.
24 But they would not hearken vnto thy voyce, to do the king of Babylon seruice: and therefore hast thou perfourmed the wordes that thou spakest by thy seruauntes the prophetes: [namely] that the bones of our kinges and the bones of our fathers should be translated out of their places:
25 And lo, nowe are they layde out in the heate of the sunne, and in the colde of the night, and dead in great miserie, with hunger, with sword, [with pestilence] and are cleane cast foorth.
26 As for the temple wherein thy name was called vpo, thou hast layd it waste, as it is to see this day, and that for the wickednesse of the house of Israel and the house of Iuda.
27 O Lorde our God, thou hast intreated vs after all thy goodnes, and according to all that great louing mercie of thyne,
28 Lyke as thou spakest by thy seruaunt Moyses, in the day when thou diddest commaunde him to write thy lawe before the children of Israel, saying:
29 If ye wyl not hearke vnto my voyce, then shall this great multitude be turned into a very small people among the nations, for I wyll scatter them abrode.
30 Notwithstanding, I am sure that this folke wyl not heare me, for it is an hard necked people: but in the lande of their captiuitie they shall remember them selues,
31 And learne to know that I am the Lorde their God, when I geue them an heart to vnderstande, and eares to heare.
32 Then shal they prayse me in the lande of their captiuitie, and thinke vpon my name.
33 Then shal they turne them from their harde backes, and from their vngodlines: then shall they remember the thinges that happened vnto their fathers which sinned against me.
34 So wyll I bring them againe into the lande which I promysed with an oth vnto their fathers Abraham, Isahac, and Iacob, and they shalbe lordes of it, yea I wyll encrease them, and not minishe them.
35 And I wyll make an other couenaunt with them, such one as shall endure for euer: [namely] that I will be their God, and they shalbe my people: and I will no more dryue my people the children of Israel out of the lande that I haue geuen them.

1 Wherefore the Lord our God hath made good his word, that he spoke to us, and to our judges that have judged Israel, and to our kings, and to our princes, and to all Israel and Juda:
2 That the Lord would bring upon us great evils, such as never happened under heaven, as they have come to pass in Jerusalem, according to the things that are written in the law of Moses:
3 That a man should eat the flesh of his own son, and the flesh of his own daughter.
4 And he hath delivered them up to be under the hand of all the kings that are round about us, to be a reproach, and desolation among all the people, among whom the Lord hath scattered us.
5 And we are brought under, and are not uppermost: because we have sinned against the Lord our God, by not obeying his voice.
6 To the Lord our God belongeth justice: but to us, and to our fathers confusion of face, as at this day.
7 For the Lord hath pronounced against us all these evils that are come upon us:
8 And we have not entreated the face of the Lord our God, that we might return every one of us from our most wicked ways.
9 And the Lord hath watched over us for evil, and hath brought it upon us: for the Lord is just in all his works which he hath commanded us:
10 And we have not hearkened to his voice to walk in the commandments of the Lord which he hath set before us.
11 And now, O Lord God of Israel, who hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and with signs, and with wonders, and with thy great power, and with a mighty arm, and hast made thee a name as at this day,
12 We have sinned, we have done wickedly, we have acted unjustly, O Lord our God, against all thy justices.
13 Let thy wrath be turned away from us: for we are left a few among the nations where thou hast scattered us.
14 Hear, O Lord, our prayers, and our petitions, and deliver us for thy own sake: and grant that we may find favour in the sight of them that have led us away:
15 That all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, and that thy name is called upon Israel, and upon his posterity.
16 Look down upon us, O Lord, from thy holy house, and incline thy ear, and hear us.
17 Open thy eyes, and behold: for the dead that are in hell, whose spirit is taken away from their bowels, shall not give glory and justice to the Lord:
18 But the soul that is sorrowful for the greatness of evil she hath done, and goeth bowed down, and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul giveth glory and justice to thee the Lord.
19 For it is not for the justices of our fathers that we pour out our prayers, and beg mercy in thy sight, O Lord our God:
20 But because thou hast sent out thy wrath, and thy indignation upon us, as thou hast spoken by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying:
21 Thus saith the Lord: Bow down your shoulder, and your neck, and serve the king of Babylon: and you shall remain in the land which I have given to your fathers.
22 But if you will not hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, to serve the king of Babylon: I will cause you to depart out of the cities of Juda, and from without Jerusalem.
23 And I will take away from you the voice of mirth, and the voice of joy, and the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, and all the land shall be without any footstep of inhabitants.
24 And they hearkened not to thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon: and thou hast made good thy words, which thou spokest by the hands of thy servants the prophets, that the bones of our kings, and the bones of our fathers should be removed out of their place:
25 And behold they are cast out to the heat of the sun, and to the frost of the night: and they have died in grievous pains, by famine, and by the sword, and in banishment.
26 And thou hast made the temple, in which thy name was called upon, as it is at this day, for the iniquity of the house of Israel, and the house of Juda.
27 And thou hast dealt with us, O Lord our God, according to all thy goodness, and according to all that great mercy of thine:
28 As thou spokest by the hand of thy servant Moses, in the day when thou didst command him to write thy law before the children of Israel,
29 Saying: If you will not hear my voice, this great multitude shall be turned into a very small number among the nations, where I will scatter them:
30 For I know that the people will not hear me, for they are a people of a stiff neck: but they shall turn to their heart in the land of their captivity:
31 And they shall know that I am the Lord their God: and I will give them a heart, and they shall understand: and ears, and they shall hear.
32 And they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and shall be mindful of my name.
33 And they shall turn away themselves from their stiff neck, and from their wicked deeds: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, that sinned against me.
34 And I will bring them back again into the land which I promised with an oath to their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they shall be masters thereof: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished.
35 And I will make with them another covenant that shall be everlasting, to be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more remove my people, the children of Israel, out of the land that I have given them.

1 Therefore the Lord hath made good his word, which he pronounced against us, and against our judges that judged Israel, and against our kings, and against our princes, and against the men of Israel and Juda,
2 To bring upon us great plagues, such as never happened under the whole heaven, as it came to pass in Jerusalem, according to the things that were written in the law of Moses;
3 That a man should eat the flesh of his own son, and the flesh of his own daughter.
4 Moreover he hath delivered them to be in subjection to all the kingdoms that are round about us, to be as a reproach and desolation among all the people round about, where the Lord hath scattered them.
5 Thus we were cast down, and not exalted, because we have sinned against the Lord our God, and have not been obedient unto his voice.
6 To the Lord our God appertaineth righteousness: but unto us and to our fathers open shame, as appeareth this day.
7 For all these plagues are come upon us, which the Lord hath pronounced against us
8 Yet have we not prayed before the Lord, that we might turn every one from the imaginations of his wicked heart.
9 Wherefore the Lord watched over us for evil, and the Lord hath brought it upon us: for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he hath commanded us.
10 Yet we have not hearkened unto his voice, to walk in the commandments of the Lord, that he hath set before us.
11 And now, O Lord God of Israel, that hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and high arm, and with signs, and with wonders, and with great power, and hast gotten thyself a name, as appeareth this day:
12 O Lord our God, we have sinned, we have done ungodly, we have dealt unrighteously in all thine ordinances.
13 Let thy wrath turn from us: for we are but a few left among the heathen, where thou hast scattered us.
14 Hear our prayers, O Lord, and our petitions, and deliver us for thine own sake, and give us favour in the sight of them which have led us away:
15 That all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, because Israel and his posterity is called by thy name.
16 O Lord, look down from thine holy house, and consider us: bow down thine ear, O Lord, to hear us.
17 Open thine eyes, and behold; for the dead that are in the graves, whose souls are taken from their bodies, will give unto the Lord neither praise nor righteousness:
18 But the soul that is greatly vexed, which goeth stooping and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul, will give thee praise and righteousness, O Lord.
19 Therefore we do not make our humble supplication before thee, O Lord our God, for the righteousness of our fathers, and of our kings.
20 For thou hast sent out thy wrath and indignation upon us, as thou hast spoken by thy servants the prophets, saying,
21 Thus saith the Lord, Bow down your shoulders to serve the king of Babylon: so shall ye remain in the land that I gave unto your fathers.
22 But if ye will not hear the voice of the Lord, to serve the king of Babylon,
23 I will cause to cease out of the cites of Judah, and from without Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: and the whole land shall be desolate of inhabitants.
24 But we would not hearken unto thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon: therefore hast thou made good the words that thou spakest by thy servants the prophets, namely, that the bones of our kings, and the bones of our fathers, should be taken out of their place.
25 And, lo, they are cast out to the heat of the day, and to the frost of the night, and they died in great miseries by famine, by sword, and by pestilence.
26 And the house which is called by thy name hast thou laid waste, as it is to be seen this day, for the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Juda.
27 O Lord our God, thou hast dealt with us after all thy goodness, and according to all that great mercy of thine,
28 As thou spakest by thy servant Moses in the day when thou didst command him to write the law before the children of Israel, saying,
29 If ye will not hear my voice, surely this very great multitude shall be turned into a small number among the nations, where I will scatter them.
30 For I knew that they would not hear me, because it is a stiffnecked people: but in the land of their captivities they shall remember themselves.
31 And shall know that I am the Lord their God: for I will give them an heart, and ears to hear:
32 And they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and think upon my name,
33 And return from their stiff neck, and from their wicked deeds: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, which sinned before the Lord.
34 And I will bring them again into the land which I promised with an oath unto their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they shall be lords of it: and I will increase them, and they shall not be diminished.
35 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more drive my people of Israel out of the land that I have given them.

1 Therefore the Lord hath made good his word, which he pronounced against us, and against our judges that judged Israel, and against our kings, and against our princes, and against the men of Israel and Judah,
2 to bring upon us great plagues, such as never happened under the whole heaven, as it came to pass in Jerusalem, according to the things that are written in the law of Moses;
3 That we should eat every man the flesh of his own son, and every man the flesh of his own daughter.
4 Moreover he hath given them to be in subjection to all the kingdoms that are round about us, to be a reproach and a desolation among all the people round about, where the Lord hath scattered them.
5 Thus were they cast down, and not exalted, because we sinned against the Lord our God, in not hearkening unto his voice.
6 To the Lord our God [belongeth] righteousness: but unto us and to our fathers confusion of face, as at this day.
7 [For] all these plagues are come upon us, which the Lord hath pronounced against us.
8 Yet have we not intreated the favour of the Lord, in turning every one from the thoughts of his wicked heart.
9 Therefore hath the Lord kept watch over the plagues, and the Lord hath brought [them] upon us; for the Lord is righteous in all his works which he hath commanded us.
10 Yet we have not hearkened unto his voice, to walk in the commandments of the Lord that he hath set before us.
11 And now, O Lord, thou God of Israel, that hast brought thy people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with signs, and with wonders, and with great power, and with a high arm, and hast gotten thyself a name, as at this day:
12 O Lord our God, we have sinned, we have done ungodly, we have dealt unrighteously in all thine ordinances.
13 Let thy wrath turn from us: for we are but a few left among the heathen, where thou hast scattered us.
14 Hear our prayer, O Lord, and our petition, and deliver us for thine own sake, and give us favour in the sight of them which have led us away captive:
15 that all the earth may know that thou art the Lord our God, because Israel and his posterity is called by thy name.
16 O Lord, look down from thine holy house, and consider us: incline thine ear, O Lord, and hear:
17 open thine eyes, and behold: for the dead that are in the grave, whose breath is taken from their bodies, will give unto the Lord neither glory nor righteousness:
18 but the soul that is greatly vexed, which goeth stooping and feeble, and the eyes that fail, and the hungry soul, will give thee glory and righteousness, O Lord.
19 For we do not present our supplication before thee, O Lord our God, for the righteousness of our fathers, and of our kings.
20 For thou hast sent thy wrath and thine indignation upon us, as thou hast spoken by thy servants the prophets, [saying,]
21 Thus saith the Lord, Bow your shoulders to serve the king of Babylon, and remain in the land that I gave unto your fathers.
22 But if ye will not hear the voice of the Lord, to serve the king of Babylon,
23 I will cause to cease out of the cities of Judah, and from without Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: and the whole land shall be desolate without inhabitant.
24 But we would not hearken unto thy voice, to serve the king of Babylon: therefore hast thou made good thy words that thou spakest by thy servants the prophets, [namely,] that the bones of our kings, and the bones of our fathers, should be taken out of their places.
25 And, lo, they are cast out to the heat by day, and to the frost by night, and they died in great miseries by famine, by sword, and by pestilence.
26 And the house which is called by thy name hast thou laid [waste,] as at this day, for the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Judah.
27 Yet, O Lord our God, thou hast dealt with us after all thy kindness, and according to all that great mercy of thine,
28 as thou spakest by thy servant Moses in the day when thou didst command him to write thy law before the children of Israel, saying,
29 If ye will not hear my voice, surely this very great multitude shall be turned into a small [number] among the nations, where I will scatter them.
30 For I know that they will not hear me, because it is a stiffnecked people: but in the land of their captivity they shall lay it to heart,
31 and shall know that I am the Lord their God: and I will give them a heart, and ears to hear:
32 and they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and think upon my name,
33 and shall return from their stiff neck, and from their wicked deeds: for they shall remember the way of their fathers, which sinned before the Lord.
34 And I will bring them again into the land which I sware unto their fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and they shall be lords of it: and I will increase them, and they shall not be diminished.
35 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more remove my people of Israel out of the land that I have given them.

5 Thus we were cast down, and not exalted, because we have sinned against the Lord our God, and have not been obedient to his voice.
6 To the Lord our God appertains righteousness: but to us and to our fathers open shame, as appears this day.
7 For all these plagues are come upon us, which the Lord has pronounced against us
8 Yet have we not prayed before the Lord, that we might turn every one from the imaginations of his wicked heart.

25 And, behold, they are cast out to the heat of the day, and to the frost of the night, and they died in great miseries by famine, by sword, and by pestilence.
26 And the house which is called by your name have you laid waste, as it is to be seen this day, for the wickedness of the house of Israel and the house of Juda.
27 O Lord our God, you have dealt with us after all your goodness, and according to all that great mercy of your,
28 As you spoke by your servant Moses in the day when you did command him to write the law before the children of Israel, saying,
29 If you⌃ will not hear my voice, surely this very great multitude shall be turned into a small number among the nations, where I will scatter them.
30 For I knew that they would not hear me, because it is a stiff-necked people: but in the land of their captivities they shall remember themselves.
34 And I will bring them again into the land which I promised with an oath to their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they shall be lords of it: and I will increase them, and they shall not be diminished.
35 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them to be their God, and they shall be my people: and I will no more drive my people of Israel out of the land that I have given them.
