1 καὶ οὗτοι οἱ λόγοι τοῦ βιβλίου οὓς ἔγραψεν βαρουχ υἱὸς νηριου υἱοῦ μαασαιου υἱοῦ σεδεκιου υἱοῦ ασαδιου υἱοῦ χελκιου ἐν βαβυλῶνι 2 ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ πέμπτῳ ἐν ἑβδόμῃ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ᾧ ἔλαβον οἱ χαλδαῖοι τὴν ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐνέπρησαν αὐτὴν ἐν πυρί 3 καὶ ἀνέγνω βαρουχ τοὺς λόγους τοῦ βιβλίου τούτου ἐν ὠσὶν ιεχονιου υἱοῦ ιωακιμ βασιλέως ιουδα καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τῶν ἐρχομένων πρὸς τὴν βίβλον 4 καὶ ἐν ὠσὶν τῶν δυνατῶν καὶ υἱῶν τῶν βασιλέων καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων καὶ ἐν ὠσὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ ἀπὸ μικροῦ ἕως μεγάλου πάντων τῶν κατοικούντων ἐν βαβυλῶνι ἐπὶ ποταμοῦ σουδ 5 καὶ ἔκλαιον καὶ ἐνήστευον καὶ ηὔχοντο ἐναντίον κυρίου 6 καὶ συνήγαγον ἀργύριον καθὰ ἑκάστου ἠδύνατο ἡ χείρ 7 καὶ ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ιερουσαλημ πρὸς ιωακιμ υἱὸν χελκιου υἱοῦ σαλωμ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἱερεῖς καὶ πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαὸν τοὺς εὑρεθέντας μετ' αὐτοῦ ἐν ιερουσαλημ 8 ἐν τῷ λαβεῖν αὐτὸν τὰ σκεύη οἴκου κυρίου τὰ ἐξενεχθέντα ἐκ τοῦ ναοῦ ἀποστρέψαι εἰς γῆν ιουδα τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ σιουαν σκεύη ἀργυρᾶ ἃ ἐποίησεν σεδεκιας υἱὸς ιωσια βασιλεὺς ιουδα 9 μετὰ τὸ ἀποικίσαι ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλέα βαβυλῶνος τὸν ιεχονιαν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τοὺς δεσμώτας καὶ τοὺς δυνατοὺς καὶ τὸν λαὸν τῆς γῆς ἀπὸ ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς βαβυλῶνα 10 καὶ εἶπαν ἰδοὺ ἀπεστείλαμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἀργύριον καὶ ἀγοράσατε τοῦ ἀργυρίου ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ περὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ λίβανον καὶ ποιήσατε μαννα καὶ ἀνοίσατε ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον κυρίου θεοῦ ἡμῶν 11 καὶ προσεύξασθε περὶ τῆς ζωῆς ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλέως βαβυλῶνος καὶ εἰς ζωὴν βαλτασαρ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ἵνα ὦσιν αἱ ἡμέραι αὐτῶν ὡς αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς 12 καὶ δώσει κύριος ἰσχὺν ἡμῖν καὶ φωτίσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμῶν καὶ ζησόμεθα ὑπὸ τὴν σκιὰν ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλέως βαβυλῶνος καὶ ὑπὸ τὴν σκιὰν βαλτασαρ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ δουλεύσομεν αὐτοῖς ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ εὑρήσομεν χάριν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν 13 καὶ προσεύξασθε περὶ ἡμῶν πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἡμῶν ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ἡμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστρεψεν ὁ θυμὸς κυρίου καὶ ἡ ὀργὴ αὐτοῦ ἀφ' ἡμῶν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης 14 καὶ ἀναγνώσεσθε τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο ὃ ἀπεστείλαμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐξαγορεῦσαι ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἑορτῆς καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις καιροῦ 15 καὶ ἐρεῖτε τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ ἡμῶν ἡ δικαιοσύνη ἡμῖν δὲ αἰσχύνη τῶν προσώπων ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη ἀνθρώπῳ ιουδα καὶ τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ιερουσαλημ 16 καὶ τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς προφήταις ἡμῶν καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν 17 ὧν ἡμάρτομεν ἔναντι κυρίου 18 καὶ ἠπειθήσαμεν αὐτῷ καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς κυρίου θεοῦ ἡμῶν πορεύεσθαι τοῖς προστάγμασιν κυρίου οἷς ἔδωκεν κατὰ πρόσωπον ἡμῶν 19 ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ἧς ἐξήγαγεν κύριος τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν ἐκ γῆς αἰγύπτου καὶ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἤμεθα ἀπειθοῦντες πρὸς κύριον θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ ἐσχεδιάζομεν πρὸς τὸ μὴ ἀκούειν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ 20 καὶ ἐκολλήθη εἰς ἡμᾶς τὰ κακὰ καὶ ἡ ἀρά ἣν συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ μωυσῇ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἐξήγαγεν τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν ἐκ γῆς αἰγύπτου δοῦναι ἡμῖν γῆν ῥέουσαν γάλα καὶ μέλι ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη 21 καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσαμεν τῆς φωνῆς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν κατὰ πάντας τοὺς λόγους τῶν προφητῶν ὧν ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς ἡμᾶς 22 καὶ ᾠχόμεθα ἕκαστος ἐν διανοίᾳ καρδίας αὐτοῦ τῆς πονηρᾶς ἐργάζεσθαι θεοῖς ἑτέροις ποιῆσαι τὰ κακὰ κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς κυρίου θεοῦ ἡμῶν

3 Et legit Baruch verba libri hujus ad aures Jechoniæ filii Joakim regis Juda, et ad aures universi populi venientis ad librum,
4 et ad aures potentium, filiorum regum, et ad aures presbyterorum, et ad aures populi, a minimo usque ad maximum eorum, omnium habitantium in Babylonia, ad flumen Sodi.
5 Qui audientes plorabant, et jejunabant, et orabant in conspectu Domini.
6 Et collegerunt pecuniam, secundum quod potuit uniuscujusque manus,
7 et miserunt in Jerusalem ad Joakim filium Helciæ filii Salom sacerdotem, et ad sacerdotes, et ad omnem populum qui inventi sunt cum eo in Jerusalem:

9 posteaquam cepisset Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis Jechoniam, et principes, et cunctos potentes, et populum terræ, ab Jerusalem, et duxit eos vinctos in Babylonem.
10 Et dixerunt: Ecce misimus ad vos pecunias, de quibus emite holocautomata et thus: et facite manna, et offerte pro peccato, ad aram Domini Dei nostri:
11 et orate pro vita Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis, et pro vita Baltassar filii ejus, ut sint dies eorum sicut dies cæli super terram:
12 et ut det Dominus virtutem nobis, et illuminet oculos nostros, ut vivamus sub umbra Nabuchodonosor regis Babylonis, et sub umbra Baltassar filii ejus, et serviamus eis multis diebus, et inveniamus gratiam in conspectu eorum.
13 Et pro nobis ipsis orate ad Dominum Deum nostrum, quia peccavimus Domino Deo nostro, et non est aversus furor ejus a nobis usque in hunc diem.
14 Et legite librum istum quem misimus ad vos recitari in templo Domini, in die solemni et in die opportuno:
15 et dicetis: [Domino Deo nostro justitia, nobis autem confusio faciei nostræ, sicut est dies hæc omni Juda, et habitantibus in Jerusalem:
16 regibus nostris, et principibus nostris, et sacerdotibus nostris, et prophetis nostris, et patribus nostris.
17 Peccavimus ante Dominum Deum nostrum, et non credidimus, diffidentes in eum:
18 et non fuimus subjectibiles illi, et non audivimus vocem Domini Dei nostri, ut ambularemus in mandatis ejus, quæ dedit nobis.
19 A die qua eduxit patres nostros de terra Ægypti, usque ad diem hanc, eramus incredibiles ad Dominum Deum nostrum: et dissipati recessimus, ne audiremus vocem ipsius:

8 whanne he took the vessels of the temple of the Lord, that weren takun awei fro the temple, to ayen clepe in to the lond of Juda, in the tenthe dai of the monethe Siban; the siluerne vessels, which Sedechie, the kyng of Juda, the sone of Josie,
9 made, aftir that Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, hadde take Jeconye, and princes, and alle myyti men, and the puple of the lond fro Jerusalem, and ledde hem boundun in to Babiloyne.
10 And thei seiden, Lo! we han sent to you richessis, of whiche bie ye brent sacrifices, and encense, and make ye sacrifice, and offre ye for synne at the auter of youre Lord God.
11 And preye ye for the lijf of Nabugodonosor, king of Babiloyne, and for the lijf of Balthasar, his sone, that the daies of hem ben on erthe as the daies of heuene;
12 that the Lord yyue vertu to vs, and liytne oure iyen, that we lyue vndur the schadewe of Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, and vndur the schadewe of Balthasar, his sone; and that we serue hem bi many daies, and fynde grace in the siyt of hem.
13 And preye ye for `vs silf to our Lord God, for we han synned to oure Lord God, and his strong veniaunce is not turned awei fro vs, `til in to this dai.
14 And rede ye this book, which we senten to you, to be rehersid in the temple of the Lord, in a solempne dai, and in a couenable dai.
15 And ye schulen seie, Riytfulnesse is to oure Lord God, but schenschipe of oure face is to vs, as this dai is, to al Juda, and to dwelleris in Jerusalem,
16 to oure kyngis, and to oure princes, to oure preestis, and to oure profetis, and to oure fadris.
17 We synneden bifor oure Lord God, and bileuyden not, and tristiden not in hym.
18 And we weren not redi to be suget to hym, and we obeiden not to the vois of oure Lord God, that we yeden in hise comaundementis, whiche he yaf to vs;
19 fro the dai in which he ledde oure fadris out of the lond of Egipt, til in to this dai, we weren vnbileueful to oure Lord God; and we weren scaterid, and yeden awei, that we herden not the vois of hym.
20 And many yuels and cursyngis, whiche the Lord ordeynede to his seruaunt Moises, cleuyden to vs; which Lord ledde oure fadris out of the lond of Egipt, to yyue to vs a lond flowynge mylk and hony, as in this dai.
21 And we herden not the vois of oure Lord God, bi alle the wordis of prophetis, whiche he sente to vs, and to oure iugis;
22 and we yeden awei, ech man in to the wit of his yuel herte, to worche to alien goddis, and we diden yuels bifore the iyen of oure Lord God.

9 After that Nabuchodonosor King of Babylon had led away Iechonias from Ierusalem, & his princes, and his nobles, prisoners, and the people, and caried them to Babylon.
10 And they saide, Beholde, we haue sent you money, wherewith yee shall bye burnt offerings for sinne, and incense, and prepare a meat offering, and offer vpon the altar of the Lord our God,
11 And praie for the life of Nabuchodonosor King of Babylon, and for the life of Baltasar his sonne, that their daies may be vpon earth, as the daies of heauen,
12 And that God woulde giue vs strength and lighten our eyes, that we may liue vnder the shadowe of Nabuchodonosor King of Babylon, and vnder ye shadowe of Baltasar his sonne, that we may long do them seruice, & finde fauour in their sight.
13 Pray for vs also vnto the Lord our God (for we haue sinned against the Lord our God, and vnto this day the furie of the Lorde and his wrath is not turned from vs.)
14 And reade this booke (which we haue sent to you to be rehearsed in the Temple of the Lord) vpon the feast daies, and at time conuenient.
15 Thus shall ye say, To the Lord our God belongeth righteousnesse, but vnto vs the confusion of our faces, as it is come to passe this day vnto them of Iuda, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem,
16 And to our Kings, and to our Princes, and to our Priestes, & to our Prophets, and to our fathers,
17 Because we haue sinned before the Lorde our God,
18 And haue not obeied him, neither hearkened vnto the voice of the Lorde our God, to walke in the commandements that he gaue vs openly.
19 From the day that the Lord brought our fathers out of the lande of Egypt, euen vnto this day, we haue bene disobedient vnto the Lord our God, and we haue bene negligent to heare his voice.
20 Wherefore these plagues are come vpon vs, and the curse which the Lorde appointed by Moyses his seruaunt at the time that hee brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, to giue vs a land that floweth with milke and hony, as appeareth this day.
21 Neuerthelesse, we haue not hearkened vnto the voice of the Lord our God, according to all the words of the Prophets, whome he sent vnto vs.
22 But euery one of vs followed ye wicked imagination of his owne heart, to serue strange gods, and to doe euill in the sight of the Lord our God.

3 And Baruch did reade the wordes of this booke, that Iechonias the sonne of Ioachin king of Iuda might heare, and in the presence of all the people that were come to heare the booke,
4 And before all the nobles, the kinges sonnes, and before the elders, and before the whole people, from the lowest vnto the highest: before all them that dwelt at Babylon, by the water of Sody,
5 Which when they heard it, wept, fasted, and prayed before the Lorde.
6 They made a collection also of money, according to euery mans power:
7 And sent it to Hierusalem vnto Ioachin the sonne of Helchia, the sonne of Salom priest, with the other priestes, and to all the people which were with him at Hierusalem,
8 (What time as they had gotten the vessels of the temple of the Lord that were taken away out of the temple, that they might bring them againe into the lande of Iuda the tenth day of the moneth Siuan [namely] siluer vessels which Sedechias the sonne of Iosias king of Iuda had made,)
9 After that Nabuchodonozor king of Babylon had taken Iechonias, with al his princes, lordes, and all the people, and led them captiue from Hierusalem vnto Babylon:
10 And they saide, Beholde, we haue sent you money to bye you burnt offringes and incense withall, prepare a meate offering, and offer for sinne vpon the aulter of the Lorde our God:
11 And pray for the prosperitie of Nabuchodonozor king of Babylon, and for the welfare of Balthasar his sonne, that their dayes may be vpon earth as the dayes of heauen:
12 That God also may geue vs strength, and lighten our eyes, that we may lyue vnder the defence of Nabuchodonozor king of Babylon, and vnder the protection of Balthasar his sonne, that we may long do them seruice, and finde fauour in their sight.
13 Pray for vs also vnto the Lorde our God: for we haue sinned against the lord our God, and vnto this day is not his wrath turned yet away from vs.
14 And see that ye reade this booke, which we haue sent vnto you to be rehearsed in the temple of the Lorde vpon the hye dayes, and at time conuenient.
15 Thus shall ye say: The Lorde our God is righteous, but we are worthy of confusion and shame, lyke as it is come to passe this day vnto all Iuda, and to euery one that dwelleth at Hierusalem,
16 To our kinges, princes, priestes, prophetes, and to our fathers.
17 We haue sinned before the Lorde our God, we haue not put our trust in him, nor geuen him credence,
18 We haue not obeyed him, we haue not hearkened vnto the voyce of the Lorde our God, to walke in the commaundementes that he gaue vs openly.
19 Since the day that he brought our forefathers out of the lande of Egypt, vnto this present day, we haue ben euer a misbeleuing and an vnfaithfull people vnto the Lorde our God, destroying our selues vtterly, and shrincking backe, that we should not heare his voyce.
20 Wherefore there are come vpon vs great plagues and diuers curses, lyke as the Lord deuised by Moyses his seruaunt, which brought our fathers out of the lande of Egypt, to geue vs a lande that floweth with milke & hony, lyke as it is to see this day.
21 Neuerthelesse, we haue not hearkened vnto the voyce of the Lorde our God, according to all the wordes of the prophetes, whom he sent vnto vs [and to our rulers:]
22 But euery man folowed his owne minde and wicked imagination, to offer vnto straunge goddes, and to do euil in the sight of the Lorde our God.

9 After that Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon had carried away Jechonias, and the princes, and all the powerful men, and the people of the land from Jerusalem, and brought them bound to Babylon.
10 And they said: Behold we have sent you money, buy with it holocausts, and frankincense, and make meat offerings, and offerings for sin at the altar of the Lord our God:
11 And pray ye for the life of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon, and for the life of Balthasar his son, that their days may be upon earth as the days of heaven:
12 And that the Lord may give us strength, and enlighten our eyes, that we may live under the shadow of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon, and under the shadow of Balthasar his son, and may serve them many days, and may find favour in their sight.
13 And pray ye for us to the Lord our God: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, and his wrath is not turned away from us even to this day.
14 And read ye this book, which we have sent to you to be read in the temple of the Lord, on feasts, and proper days.
15 And you shall say: To the Lord our God belongeth justice, but to us confusion of our face: as it is come to pass at this day to all Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
16 To our kings, and to our princes, and to our priests, and to our prophets, and to our fathers.
17 We have sinned before the Lord our God, and have not believed him, nor put our trust in him:
18 And we were not obedient to him, and we have not harkened to the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his commandments, which he hath given us.
19 From the day that he brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, we were disobedient to the Lord our God: and going astray we turned away from hearing his voice.
20 And many evils have cleaved to us, and the curses which the Lord foretold by Moses his servant: who brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, to give us a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day.
21 And we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God according to all the words of the prophets whom he sent to us:
22 And we have gone away every man after the inclinations of his own wicked heart, to serve strange gods, and to do evil in the sight of the Lord our God.

3 And Baruch did read the words of this book in the hearing of Jechonias the son of Joachim king of Juda, and in the ears of all the people that came to hear the book,
4 And in the hearing of the nobles, and of the king's sons, and in the hearing of the elders, and of all the people, from the lowest unto the highest, even of all them that dwelt at Babylon by the river Sud.
5 Whereupon they wept, fasted, and prayed before the Lord.
6 They made also a collection of money according to every man's power:
7 And they sent it to Jerusalem unto Joachim the high priest, the son of Chelcias, son of Salom, and to the priests, and to all the people which were found with him at Jerusalem,
8 At the same time when he received the vessels of the house of the Lord, that were carried out of the temple, to return them into the land of Juda, the tenth day of the month Sivan, namely, silver vessels, which Sedecias the son of Josias king of Jada had made,
9 After that Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away Jechonias, and the princes, and the captives, and the mighty men, and the people of the land, from Jerusalem, and brought them unto Babylon.
10 And they said, Behold, we have sent you money to buy you burnt offerings, and sin offerings, and incense, and prepare ye manna, and offer upon the altar of the Lord our God;
11 And pray for the life of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and for the life of Balthasar his son, that their days may be upon earth as the days of heaven:
12 And the Lord will give us strength, and lighten our eyes, and we shall live under the shadow of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and under the shadow of Balthasar his son, and we shall serve them many days, and find favour in their sight.
13 Pray for us also unto the Lord our God, for we have sinned against the Lord our God; and unto this day the fury of the Lord and his wrath is not turned from us.
14 And ye shall read this book which we have sent unto you, to make confession in the house of the Lord, upon the feasts and solemn days.
15 And ye shall say, To the Lord our God belongeth righteousness, but unto us the confusion of faces, as it is come to pass this day, unto them of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
16 And to our kings, and to our princes, and to our priests, and to our prophets, and to our fathers:
17 For we have sinned before the Lord,
18 And disobeyed him, and have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in the commandments that he gave us openly:
19 Since the day that the Lord brought our forefathers out of the land of Egypt, unto this present day, we have been disobedient unto the Lord our God, and we have been negligent in not hearing his voice.
20 Wherefore the evils cleaved unto us, and the curse, which the Lord appointed by Moses his servant at the time that he brought our fathers out of the land of Egypt, to give us a land that floweth with milk and honey, like as it is to see this day.
21 Nevertheless we have not hearkened unto the voice of the Lord our God, according unto all the words of the prophets, whom he sent unto us:
22 But every man followed the imagination of his own wicked heart, to serve strange gods, and to do evil in the sight of the Lord our God.
