Jeremiah 44 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt , which dwell at Migdol , and at Tahpanhes , and at Noph , and in the country of Pathros , saying ,

1 H1697 The word H3414 that came to Jeremiah H3064 concerning all the Jews H3427 which dwell [H8802] H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H3427 , which dwell [H8802] H4024 at Migdol H8471 , and at Tahpanhes H5297 , and at Noph H776 , and in the country H6624 of Pathros H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H430 , the God H3478 of Israel H7200 ; Ye have seen [H8804] H7451 all the evil H935 that I have brought [H8689] H3389 upon Jerusalem H5892 , and upon all the cities H3063 of Judah H3117 ; and, behold, this day H2723 they are a desolation H3427 , and no man dwelleth [H8802] therein,

3 H6440 Because H7451 of their wickedness H6213 which they have committed [H8804] H3707 to provoke me to anger [H8687] H3212 , in that they went [H8800] H6999 to burn incense [H8763] H5647 , and to serve [H8800] H312 other H430 gods H3045 , whom they knew [H8804] H1 not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

4 H7971 Howbeit I sent [H8799] H5650 unto you all my servants H5030 the prophets H7925 , rising early [H8687] H7971 and sending [H8800] H559 them, saying [H8800] H6213 , Oh, do [H8799] H8441 not this abominable H1697 thing H8130 that I hate [H8804] .

5 H8085 But they hearkened [H8804] H5186 not, nor inclined [H8689] H241 their ear H7725 to turn [H8800] H7451 from their wickedness H6999 , to burn no incense [H8763] H312 unto other H430 gods.

6 H2534 Wherefore my fury H639 and mine anger H5413 was poured forth [H8799] H1197 , and was kindled [H8799] H5892 in the cities H3063 of Judah H2351 and in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H2723 ; and they are wasted H8077 and desolate H3117 , as at this day.

7 H559 Therefore now thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H430 , the God H6635 of hosts H430 , the God H3478 of Israel H6213 ; Wherefore commit [H8802] H1419 ye this great H7451 evil H5315 against your souls H3772 , to cut off [H8687] H376 from you man H802 and woman H5768 , child H3243 and suckling [H8802] H8432 , out H3063 of Judah H3498 , to leave [H8687] H7611 you none to remain;

8 H3707 In that ye provoke me unto wrath [H8687] H4639 with the works H3027 of your hands H6999 , burning incense [H8763] H312 unto other H430 gods H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H935 , whither ye be gone [H8802] H1481 to dwell [H8800] H3772 , that ye might cut yourselves off [H8687] H7045 , and that ye might be a curse H2781 and a reproach H1471 among all the nations H776 of the earth?

9 H7911 Have ye forgotten [H8804] H7451 the wickedness H1 of your fathers H7451 , and the wickedness H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H7451 , and the wickedness H802 of their wives H7451 , and your own wickedness H7451 , and the wickedness H802 of your wives H6213 , which they have committed [H8804] H776 in the land H3063 of Judah H2351 , and in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem?

10 H1792 They are not humbled [H8795] H3117 even unto this day H3372 , neither have they feared [H8804] H1980 , nor walked [H8804] H8451 in my law H2708 , nor in my statutes H5414 , that I set [H8804] H6440 before H6440 you and before H1 your fathers.

11 H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H430 , the God H3478 of Israel H7760 ; Behold, I will set [H8802] H6440 my face H7451 against you for evil H3772 , and to cut off [H8687] H3063 all Judah.

12 H3947 And I will take [H8804] H7611 the remnant H3063 of Judah H7760 , that have set [H8804] H6440 their faces H935 to go [H8800] H776 into the land H4714 of Egypt H1481 to sojourn [H8800] H8552 there, and they shall all be consumed [H8804] H5307 , and fall [H8799] H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H8552 ; they shall even be consumed [H8735] H2719 by the sword H7458 and by the famine H4191 : they shall die [H8799] H6996 , from the least H1419 even unto the greatest H2719 , by the sword H7458 and by the famine H423 : and they shall be an execration H8047 , and an astonishment H7045 , and a curse H2781 , and a reproach.

13 H6485 For I will punish [H8804] H3427 them that dwell [H8802] H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H6485 , as I have punished [H8804] H3389 Jerusalem H2719 , by the sword H7458 , by the famine H1698 , and by the pestilence:

14 H7611 So that none of the remnant H3063 of Judah H935 , which are gone [H8802] H776 into the land H4714 of Egypt H1481 to sojourn [H8800] H6412 there, shall escape H8300 or remain H7725 , that they should return [H8800] H776 into the land H3063 of Judah H5375 , to the which they have [H8764] H5315 a desire H7725 to return [H8800] H3427 to dwell [H8800] H7725 there: for none shall return [H8799] H6405 but such as shall escape.

15 H582 Then all the men H3045 which knew [H8802] H802 that their wives H6999 had burned incense [H8764] H312 unto other H430 gods H802 , and all the women H5975 that stood by [H8802] H1419 , a great H6951 multitude H5971 , even all the people H3427 that dwelt [H8802] H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H6624 , in Pathros H6030 , answered [H8799] H3414 Jeremiah H559 , saying [H8800] ,

16 H1697 As for the word H1696 that thou hast spoken [H8765] H8034 unto us in the name H3068 of the LORD H8085 , we will not hearken [H8802] unto thee.

17 H6213 But we will certainly [H8800] H6213 do [H8799] H1697 whatsoever thing H3318 goeth forth [H8804] H6310 out of our own mouth H6999 , to burn incense [H8763] H4446 unto the queen H8064 of heaven H5258 , and to pour out [H8687] H5262 drink offerings H6213 unto her, as we have done [H8804] H1 , we, and our fathers H4428 , our kings H8269 , and our princes H5892 , in the cities H3063 of Judah H2351 , and in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H7646 : for then had we plenty [H8799] H3899 of victuals H2896 , and were well H7200 , and saw [H8804] H7451 no evil.

18 H2308 But since we left off [H8804] H6999 to burn incense [H8763] H4446 to the queen H8064 of heaven H5258 , and to pour out [H8687] H5262 drink offerings H2637 unto her, we have wanted [H8804] H8552 all things, and have been consumed [H8804] H2719 by the sword H7458 and by the famine.

19 H6999 And when we burned incense [H8764] H4446 to the queen H8064 of heaven H5258 , and poured out [H8687] H5262 drink offerings H6213 unto her, did we make [H8804] H3561 her cakes H6087 to worship [H8687] H5258 her, and pour out [H8687] H5262 drink offerings H1107 unto her, without H582 our men?

20 H3414 Then Jeremiah H559 said [H8799] H5971 unto all the people H1397 , to the men H802 , and to the women H5971 , and to all the people H1697 which had given him that answer H6030 [H8802] H559 , saying [H8800] ,

21 H7002 The incense H6999 that ye burned [H8765] H5892 in the cities H3063 of Judah H2351 , and in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H1 , ye, and your fathers H4428 , your kings H8269 , and your princes H5971 , and the people H776 of the land H3068 , did not the LORD H2142 remember [H8804] H5927 them, and came [H8799] H3820 it not into his mind?

22 H3068 So that the LORD H3201 could [H8799] H5375 no longer bear [H8800] H6440 , because H7455 of the evil H4611 of your doings H6440 , and because H8441 of the abominations H6213 which ye have committed [H8804] H776 ; therefore is your land H2723 a desolation H8047 , and an astonishment H7045 , and a curse H3427 , without an inhabitant [H8802] H3117 , as at this day.

23 H6440 Because H834 H6999 ye have burned incense [H8765] H2398 , and because ye have sinned [H8804] H3068 against the LORD H8085 , and have not obeyed [H8804] H6963 the voice H3068 of the LORD H1980 , nor walked [H8804] H8451 in his law H2708 , nor in his statutes H5715 , nor in his testimonies H7451 ; therefore this evil H7122 is happened [H8804] H3117 unto you, as at this day.

24 H3414 Moreover Jeremiah H559 said [H8799] H5971 unto all the people H802 , and to all the women H8085 , Hear [H8798] H1697 the word H3068 of the LORD H3063 , all Judah H776 that are in the land H4714 of Egypt:

25 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H6635 of hosts H430 , the God H3478 of Israel H559 , saying [H8800] H802 ; Ye and your wives H1696 have both spoken [H8762] H6310 with your mouths H4390 , and fulfilled [H8765] H3027 with your hand H559 , saying [H8800] H6213 , We will surely [H8800] H6213 perform [H8799] H5088 our vows H5087 that we have vowed [H8804] H6999 , to burn incense [H8763] H4446 to the queen H8064 of heaven H5258 , and to pour out [H8687] H5262 drink offerings H6965 unto her: ye will surely [H8687] H6965 accomplish [H8686] H5088 your vows H6213 , and surely [H8800] H6213 perform [H8799] H5088 your vows.

26 H8085 Therefore hear [H8798] H1697 ye the word H3068 of the LORD H3063 , all Judah H3427 that dwell [H8802] H776 in the land H4714 of Egypt H7650 ; Behold, I have sworn [H8738] H1419 by my great H8034 name H559 , saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H8034 , that my name H7121 shall no more be named [H8737] H6310 in the mouth H376 of any man H3063 of Judah H776 in all the land H4714 of Egypt H559 , saying [H8802] H136 , The Lord H3069 GOD H2416 liveth.

27 H8245 Behold, I will watch [H8802] H7451 over them for evil H2896 , and not for good H376 : and all the men H3063 of Judah H776 that are in the land H4714 of Egypt H8552 shall be consumed [H8804] H2719 by the sword H7458 and by the famine H3615 , until there be an end [H8800] of them.

28 H4962 Yet a small H4557 number H6412 that escape H2719 the sword H7725 shall return out [H8799] H776 of the land H4714 of Egypt H776 into the land H3063 of Judah H7611 , and all the remnant H3063 of Judah H935 , that are gone [H8802] H776 into the land H4714 of Egypt H1481 to sojourn [H8800] H3045 there, shall know [H8804] H1697 whose words H6965 shall stand [H8799] , mine, or theirs.

29 H226 And this shall be a sign H5002 unto you, saith [H8803] H3068 the LORD H6485 , that I will punish [H8802] H4725 you in this place H3045 , that ye may know [H8799] H1697 that my words H6965 shall surely [H8800] H6965 stand [H8799] H7451 against you for evil:

30 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H5414 ; Behold, I will give [H8802] H6548 Pharaohhophra H4428 king H4714 of Egypt H3027 into the hand H341 of his enemies [H8802] H3027 , and into the hand H1245 of them that seek [H8764] H5315 his life H5414 ; as I gave [H8804] H6667 Zedekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3027 into the hand H5019 of Nebuchadrezzar H4428 king H894 of Babylon H341 , his enemy [H8802] H1245 , and that sought [H8764] H5315 his life.
