Joshua 7:1-25 But the sons of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the sons of Israel.

1 H1121 But the sons H3478 of Israel H4603 committed H4604 a trespass H2764 in the accursed thing: H5912 for Achan, H1121 the son H3756 of Carmi, H1121 the son H2067 of Zabdi, H1121 the son H2226 of Zerah, H4294 of the tribe H3063 of Judah, H3947 took H2764 of the accursed thing: H639 and the anger H3068 of the Lord H2734 was kindled H1121 against the sons H3478 of Israel.

2 H3091 And Joshua H7971 sent H582 men H3405 from Jericho H5857 to Ai, H5973 which is beside H1007 Beth–aven, H6924 on the east side H1008 of Beth–el, H559 and spoke H559 unto them, saying, H5927 Go up H7270 and view H776 the country. H582 And the men H5927 went up H7270 and viewed H5857 Ai.

3 H7725 And they returned H3091 to Joshua, H559 and said H5971 unto him, Let not all the people H5927 go up; H7969 but let about two or three H505 thousand H376 men H5927 go up H5221 and strike H5857 Ai; H5971 and make not all the people H3021 to labor H4592 there; for they are but few.

4 H5927 So there went up H5971 there of the people H7969 about three H505 thousand H376 men: H5127 and they fled H6440 before H582 the men H5857 of Ai.

5 H582 And the men H5857 of Ai H5221 struck H7970 of them about thirty H8337 and six H376 men: H7291 for they chased H6440 them from before H8179 the gate H7671 even unto Shebarim, H5221 and struck H4174 them in the going down: H3824 why the hearts H5971 of the people H4549 melted, H4325 and became as water.

6 H3091 And Joshua H7167 tore H8071 his clothes, H5307 and fell H776 to the earth H6440 upon his face H6440 before H727 the ark H3068 of the Lord H6153 until the evening, H2205 he and the elders H3478 of Israel, H5927 and put H6083 dust H7218 upon their heads.

7 H3091 And Joshua H559 said, H162 Alas, O H136 Lord H3069 God, H5674 why have you at all H5674 brought H5971 this people H5674 over H3383 Jordan, H5414 to deliver H3027 us into the hand H567 of the Amorites, H6 to destroy H3863 us? Would to God H2974 we had been content, H3427 and lived H5676 on the other side H3383 Jordan!

8 H994 O H136 Lord, H559 what shall I say, H310 when H3478 Israel H2015 turns H6203 their backs H6440 before H341 their enemies!

9 H3669 For the Canaanites H3427 and all the inhabitants H776 of the land H8085 shall hear H5437 of it, and shall block us around, H3772 and cut off H8034 our name H776 from the earth: H6213 and what will you do H1419 unto your great H8034 name?

10 H3068 And the Lord H559 said H3091 unto Joshua, H6965 Get you up; H5307 why lie H6440 you thus upon your face?

11 H3478 Israel H2398 has sinned, H5674 and they have also transgressed H1285 my covenant H6680 which I commanded H3947 them: for they have even taken H2764 of the accursed thing, H1589 and have also stolen, H3584 and lied H7760 also, and they have put H3627 it even among their own stuff.

12 H1121 Therefore the sons H3478 of Israel H3201 could H6965 not stand H6440 before H341 their enemies, H6437 but turned H6203 their backs H6440 before H341 their enemies, H2764 because they were accursed: H3254 neither will I be with you any more, H3808 except H8045 you destroy H2764 the accursed H7130 from among you.

13 H6965 Up, H6942 sanctify H5971 the people, H559 and say, H6942 Sanctify H4279 yourselves against to morrow: H559 for thus says H3068 the Lord H430 God H3478 of Israel, H2764 There is an accursed thing H7130 in the middle H3478 of you, O Israel: H3201 you can H6965 not stand H6440 before H341 your enemies, H5493 until you take away H2764 the accursed thing H7130 from among you.

14 H1242 In the morning H7126 therefore you shall be brought H7626 according to your tribes: H7626 and it shall be, that the tribe H3068 which the Lord H3920 takes H7126 shall come H4940 according to the families H4940 there; and the family H3068 which the Lord H3920 shall take H7126 shall come H1004 by households; H1004 and the household H3068 which the Lord H3920 shall take H7126 shall come H1397 man H1397 by man.

15 H3920 And it shall be, that he that is taken H2764 with the accursed thing H8313 shall be burnt H784 with fire, H5674 he and all that he has: because he has transgressed H1285 the covenant H3068 of the Lord, H6213 and because he has worked H5039 wickedness H3478 in Israel.

16 H3091 So Joshua H7925 rose up early H1242 in the morning, H7126 and brought H3478 Israel H7626 by their tribes; H7626 and the tribe H3063 of Judah H3920 was taken:

17 H7126 And he brought H4940 the family H3063 of Judah; H3920 and he took H4940 the family H2227 of the Zarhites: H7126 and he brought H4940 the family H2227 of the Zarhites H1397 man H1397 by man; H2067 and Zabdi H3920 was taken:

18 H7126 And he brought H1004 his household H1397 man H1397 by man; H5912 and Achan, H1121 the son H3756 of Carmi, H1121 the son H2067 of Zabdi, H1121 the son H2226 of Zerah, H4294 of the tribe H3063 of Judah, H3920 was taken.

19 H3091 And Joshua H559 said H5912 unto Achan, H1121 My son, H7760 give, H3519 I pray you, glory H3068 to the Lord H430 God H3478 of Israel, H5414 and make H8426 confession H5046 unto him; and tell H6213 me now what you have done; H3582 hide it not from me.

20 H5912 And Achan H6030 answered H3091 Joshua, H559 and said, H546 Indeed H2398 I have sinned H3068 against the Lord H430 God H3478 of Israel, H6213 and thus and thus have I done:

21 H7200 When I saw H7998 among the spoils H259 a H2896 good H8152 Babylonish H155 garment, H3967 and two hundred H8255 shekels H3701 of silver, H259 and a H3956 wedge H2091 of gold H2572 of fifty H8255 shekels H4948 weight, H2530 then I coveted H3947 them, and took H2934 them; and, behold, they are hid H776 in the earth H8432 in the middle H168 of my tent, H3701 and the silver under it.

22 H3091 So Joshua H7971 sent H4397 messengers, H7323 and they ran H168 unto the tent; H2934 and, behold, it was hid H168 in his tent, H3701 and the silver under it.

23 H3947 And they took H8432 them out of the middle H168 of the tent, H935 and brought H3091 them unto Joshua, H1121 and unto all the sons H3478 of Israel, H3332 and laid them out H6440 before H3068 the Lord.

24 H3091 And Joshua, H3478 and all Israel H3947 with him, took H5912 Achan H1121 the son H2226 of Zerah, H3701 and the silver, H155 and the garment, H3956 and the wedge H2091 of gold, H1121 and his sons, H1323 and his daughters, H7794 and his oxen, H2543 and his donkeys, H6629 and his sheep, H168 and his tent, H5927 and all that he had: and they brought H6010 them unto the valley H5911 of Achor.

25 H3091 And Joshua H559 said, H4100 Why H5916 have you troubled H3068 us? the Lord H5916 shall trouble H3117 you this day. H3478 And all Israel H7275 stoned H68 him with stones, H8313 and burned H784 them with fire, H5619 after they had stoned H68 them with stones.
