2 Kings 3 Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 H6213 And he worked H7451 evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD; H1 but not like his father, H517 and like his mother: H5493 for he put H5493 away H4676 the image H1168 of Baal H1 that his father H6213 had made.

3 H7535 Nevertheless H1692 he joined H2403 to the sins H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat, H834 which H3478 made Israel H2398 to sin; H5493 he departed not therefrom.

4 H4337 And Mesha H4428 king H4124 of Moab H5349 was a sheep master, H7725 and rendered H4428 to the king H3478 of Israel H3967 an hundred H505 thousand H3733 lambs, H3967 and an hundred H505 thousand H352 rams, H6785 with the wool.

5 H1961 But it came H256 to pass, when Ahab H4194 was dead, H4428 that the king H4124 of Moab H6586 rebelled H4428 against the king H3478 of Israel.

6 H4428 And king H3088 Jehoram H3318 went H8111 out of Samaria H1931 the same H3117 time, H6485 and numbered H3605 all H3478 Israel.

7 H3212 And he went H7971 and sent H3092 to Jehoshaphat H4428 the king H3063 of Judah, H559 saying, H4428 The king H4124 of Moab H6586 has rebelled H3212 against me: will you go H413 with me against H4124 Moab H4421 to battle? H559 And he said, H5927 I will go H5971 up: I am as you are, my people H5971 as your people, H5483 and my horses H5483 as your horses.

8 H559 And he said, H335 Which H2088 H1870 way H5927 shall we go H559 up? And he answered, H1870 The way H4057 through the wilderness H123 of Edom.

9 H4428 So the king H3478 of Israel H3212 went, H4428 and the king H3063 of Judah, H4428 and the king H123 of Edom: H5437 and they fetched a compass H7651 of seven H3117 days’ H1870 journey: H3808 and there was no H4325 water H4264 for the host, H929 and for the cattle H7272 that followed them.

10 H4428 And the king H3478 of Israel H559 said, H162 Alas! H3068 that the LORD H7121 has called H428 these H7969 three H4428 kings H5414 together, to deliver H3027 them into the hand H4124 of Moab!

11 H3092 But Jehoshaphat H559 said, H6311 Is there not here H5030 a prophet H3068 of the LORD, H1875 that we may inquire H3068 of the LORD H259 by him? And one H4428 of the king H3478 of Israel’s H5650 servants H6030 answered H559 and said, H6311 Here H477 is Elisha H1121 the son H8202 of Shaphat, H834 which H3332 poured H4325 water H5921 on H3027 the hands H452 of Elijah.

12 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H559 said, H1697 The word H3068 of the LORD H4428 is with him. So the king H3478 of Israel H3092 and Jehoshaphat H4428 and the king H123 of Edom H3381 went H3381 down to him.

13 H477 And Elisha H559 said H4428 to the king H3478 of Israel, H4100 What H3212 have I to do with you? get H5030 you to the prophets H1 of your father, H5030 and to the prophets H517 of your mother. H4428 And the king H3478 of Israel H559 said H408 to him, No: H3068 for the LORD H7121 has called H428 these H7969 three H4428 kings H5414 together, to deliver H3027 them into the hand H4124 of Moab.

14 H477 And Elisha H559 said, H3068 As the LORD H6635 of hosts H2416 lives, H6440 before H834 whom H5975 I stand, H3588 surely, H5375 were it not that I regard H6440 the presence H3092 of Jehoshaphat H4428 the king H3063 of Judah, H5027 I would not look H413 toward H518 you, nor H7200 see you.

15 H6258 But now H3947 bring H5059 me a minstrel. H1961 And it came H5059 to pass, when the minstrel H5059 played, H3027 that the hand H3068 of the LORD H1961 came on him.

16 H559 And he said, H3541 Thus H559 said H3068 the LORD, H6213 Make H2088 this H5158 valley H1356 full of ditches.

17 H3541 For thus H559 said H3068 the LORD, H7200 You shall not see H7307 wind, H3808 neither H7200 shall you see H1653 rain; H5158 yet that valley H4390 shall be filled H4325 with water, H8354 that you may drink, H4735 both you, and your cattle, H929 and your beasts.

18 H2063 And this H7043 is but a light H5869 thing in the sight H3068 of the LORD: H5414 he will deliver H4124 the Moabites H3027 also into your hand.

19 H5221 And you shall smite H3605 every H4013 fenced H5892 city, H3605 and every H4005 choice H5892 city, H5307 and shall fell H3605 every H2896 good H6086 tree, H5640 and stop H3605 all H4599 wells H4325 of water, H3510 and mar H3605 every H2896 good H2513 piece H68 of land with stones.

20 H1961 And it came H1242 to pass in the morning, H4503 when the meat offering H5927 was offered, H2009 that, behold, H935 there came H4325 water H1870 by the way H123 of Edom, H776 and the country H4390 was filled H4325 with water.

21 H3605 And when all H4124 the Moabites H8085 heard H4428 that the kings H5927 were come H3898 up to fight H6817 against them, they gathered H3605 all H2296 that were able H2296 to put H2290 on armor, H4605 and upward, H5975 and stood H1366 in the border.

22 H7925 And they rose H7925 up early H1242 in the morning, H8121 and the sun H2224 shone H4325 on the water, H4124 and the Moabites H7200 saw H4325 the water H5048 on the other H5048 side H122 as red H1818 as blood:

23 H559 And they said, H2088 This H1818 is blood: H4428 the kings H2717 are surely slain, H5221 and they have smitten H376 one H7453 another: H6258 now H4124 therefore, Moab, H7998 to the spoil.

24 H935 And when they came H4264 to the camp H3478 of Israel, H3478 the Israelites H6965 rose H5221 up and smote H4124 the Moabites, H5127 so that they fled H6440 before H5221 them: but they went H5221 forward smiting H4124 the Moabites, even in their country.

25 H2040 And they beat H2040 down H5892 the cities, H3605 and on every H2896 good H2513 piece H7993 of land cast H376 every man H68 his stone, H4390 and filled H5640 it; and they stopped H3605 all H4599 the wells H4325 of water, H5307 and felled H3605 all H2896 the good H6086 trees: H7025 only in Kirharaseth H7604 left H68 they the stones H7051 thereof; however, the slingers H5437 went H5437 about H5221 it, and smote it.

26 H4428 And when the king H4124 of Moab H7200 saw H4421 that the battle H2388 was too sore H3947 for him, he took H7651 with him seven H3967 hundred H376 men H8025 that drew H2719 swords, H1234 to break H1234 through H4428 even to the king H123 of Edom: H3201 but they could not.

27 H3947 Then he took H1060 his oldest H1121 son H4427 that should have reigned H8478 in his stead, H5927 and offered H5930 him for a burnt H2346 offering on the wall. H1419 And there was great H7110 indignation H5921 against H3478 Israel: H5265 and they departed H7725 from him, and returned H776 to their own land.
