ABP_Strongs(i)
  1 G3759 Woe G3588 to the ones G2597 going down G1519 into G* Egypt G1909 for G996 help; G3588 the ones G1909 [2upon G2462 3horses G3982 1relying], G2532 and G1909 upon G716 chariots, G1510.2.3 for they are G1063   G4183 many; G2532 and G1909 relying upon G2462 [3horses G4128 2many G4970 1exceedingly]. G2532 And G3756 they did not hearken G191   G3982 relying G1909 upon G3588 the G39 holy one G3588   G* of Israel, G2532 and G3588   G2316 [3God G3756 1they did not G2212 2seek].
  2 G2532 And G1473 he G4680.2 wisely G71 brought G1909 upon G1473 them G2556 bad things, G2532 and G3588   G3056 his word G1473   G3766.2 in no way G114 shall be annulled. G2532 And G1881 he shall rise up G1909 against G3624 the houses G444 [2men G4190 1of wicked], G2532 and G1909 against G3588   G1680 [3hope G1473 1their G3588   G3152 2vain] --
  3 G* an Egyptian G444 man, G2532 and G3756 not G2316 God. G2462 Their horses G1473   G4561 are flesh G2532 and G3756 not G996 help; G3588 but the G1161   G2962 lord G1863 shall bring G3588   G5495 his hand G1473   G1909 against G1473 them, G2532 and G2872 [3shall tire G3588 1the ones G997 2helping], G2532 and G260 together G3956 all G622 will perish.
  4 G3754 For G3779 thus G2036 said G1473 the lord to me, G2962   G3739 In which G5158 manner G3752 whenever G994 [6should yell out G3588 1the G3023 2lion G2228 3or G3588 4the G4661.1 5cub] G1909 over G3588 the G2339 game G3739 which G2983 he took, G2532 and G2896 shall cry out G1909 over G1473 it, G2193 until G302 whenever G1705 [3should be filled up G3588 1the G3735 2mountains] G3588   G5456 of his voice, G1473   G2532 and G2274 the prey are vanquished, G2532 and G3588 by the G4128 magnitude G3588   G2372 of rage G4422 they are scared; G3779 so G2597 [3shall go down G2962 1 the lord G4519 2of Hosts] G1993.1 to march G1909 upon G3588   G3735 mount G* Zion, G1909 upon G3588   G3735 her mountains. G1473
  5 G5613 As G3732 birds G4072 flying, G3779 so G5231.3 shall [3shield G2962 1 the lord G4519 2of Hosts] G5228 above G* Jerusalem; G2532 and G1807 he shall rescue G2532 and G4046 shall protect G2532 and G4982 shall deliver.
  6 G1994 Turn! G3588 O ones G3588   G901 [2deep G1012 5counsel G1011 1consulting G2532 3and G459 4lawless], G5207 O sons G* of Israel.
  7 G3754 For G3588   G2250 in that day G1565   G533 [2shall totally reject G3588   G444 1men] G3588 the idols G5499 made by their hands -- G3588 the things G693 made of silver, G2532 and G3588 the things G5552 of gold, G3739 which G4160 [2made G3588   G5495 1their hands]. G1473
  8 G2532 And G4098 Assyria shall fall; G*   G3756 not G3162 by the sword G435 of man, G3761 nor G3162 [2 the sword G444 3of man G2719 1shall] devour G1473 him; G2532 and G5343 he will not flee G3756   G575 from G4383 in front G3162 of the sword; G3588 but the G1161   G3495 young men G1510.8.6 shall be G2275 for vanquishing;
  9 G4073 for as a rock, G1063   G4033.2 they shall be taken hold of G5613 as G5482 for a siege mound, G2532 and G2274 shall be vanquished; G3588 but the one G1161   G5343 fleeing G234.1 shall be captured; G3592 thus G3004 says G2962 the lord, G3107 Blessed is G3739 the one who G2192 has G1722 [2in G* 3Zion G4690 1a seed], G2532 and G3609 members of a family G1722 in G* Jerusalem.

3 H4714 Now the Egyptians H120 are men, H410 and not God; H5483 and their horses H1320 flesh, H7307 and not spirit. H3068 When the LORD H5186 [H8686] shall stretch out H3027 his hand, H5826 [H8802] both he that helpeth H3782 [H8804] shall fall, H5826 [H8803] and he that is helped H5307 [H8804] shall fall down, H3615 [H8799] and they all shall fail H3162 together.
4 H3068 For thus hath the LORD H559 [H8804] spoken H738 to me, As the lion H3715 and the young lion H1897 [H8799] roaring H2964 on his prey, H4393 when a multitude H7462 [H8802] of shepherds H7121 [H8735] is called forth H2865 [H8735] against him, he will not be afraid H6963 of their voice, H6031 [H8799] nor abase H1995 himself for the noise H3068 of them: so shall the LORD H6635 of hosts H3381 [H8799] come down H6633 [H8800] to fight H2022 for mount H6726 Zion, H1389 and for its hill.
  5 H6833 As birds H5774 [H8802] flying, H3068 so will the LORD H6635 of hosts H1598 [H8686] defend H3389 Jerusalem; H1598 [H8800] defending H5337 [H8689] also he will deliver H6452 [H8800] it; and passing over H4422 [H8689] he will preserve it.
6 H7725 [H8798] Turn H1121 ye to him from whom the sons H3478 of Israel H6009 [H8689] have deeply H5627 revolted.
7 H3117 For in that day H376 every man H3988 [H8799] shall cast away H457 his idols H3701 of silver, H457 and his idols H2091 of gold, H3027 which your own hands H6213 [H8804] have made H2399 to you for a sin.
8 H804 Then shall the Assyrian H5307 [H8804] fall H2719 with the sword, H376 not of a mighty man; H2719 and the sword, H120 not of a mean man, H398 [H8799] shall devour H5127 [H8804] him: but he shall flee H6440 from H2719 the sword, H970 and his young men H4522 shall become forced labourers.
9 H5674 [H8799] And he shall pass over H5553 to his strong hold H4032 for fear, H8269 and his princes H2865 [H8804] shall be afraid H5251 of the ensign, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD, H217 whose fire H6726 is in Zion, H8574 and his furnace H3389 in Jerusalem.

And he shall flee from the slaughter, and his servants shall be taken prisoners. 9 He shall go for fear to his strongholds, and his princes shall flee from his badge. This hath the LORD spoken, whose light burneth in Zion, and his fire in Jerusalem.

Thomson(i) 1 ALAS! They went down to Egypt for help! They trusted in horses and chariots; for they have many and their cavalry is very numerous; and did not rely on the Holy One of Israel, nor did they ask counsel of the Lord. 2 Therefore he in his wisdom brought evils on them: and that his word may not be slighted, he will rise up against the houses of wicked men and against this hope of theirs which is vain 3 against an Egyptian; a man, not a god; against the flesh of horses in which there is no help. When the Lord shall lay his hand upon them, then shall these helpers fail and be all destroyed together. 4 Because the Lord hath thus said to me, "As the lion or the young lion will roar over the prey which he hath taken; and will repeat his roaring over it, until the mountains are filled with his voice, and the multitude are subdued and terrified at his wrath: so will the Lord of Hosts descend to encamp on this mountain; on this Sion; on the summits thereof: 5 as birds hover over their young, so will the Lord of Hosts protect Jerusalem; he will hover over it and spring forward, and will protect and save it." 6 Therefore turn to him, O children of Israel, who are taking deep and wicked counsel. 7 Because men will in that day reject the works of their hands; their idols of silver and gold which their hands have made; 8 therefore Assur shall fall; not by the sword of a man of valour, nor shall the sword of a mortal devour him; and he shall flee; [not from the face of the sword] and the young men shall be for destruction. 9 For with a rock they shall be enclosed as with a rampart, and shall be subdued; and he who fleeth shall be taken. Thus saith the Lord; Happy he who hath a seed in Sion and a family in Jerusalem!
Webster(i) 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! 2 Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evil-doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. 3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. 4 For thus hath the LORD spoken to me, As the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. 5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it. 6 Turn ye to him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made to you for a sin. 8 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited. 9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

2 H2450 Yet he also is wise H935 [H8686] , and will bring H7451 evil H5493 [H8689] , and will not call back H1697 his words H6965 [H8804] : but will arise H1004 against the house H7489 [H8688] of the evildoers H5833 , and against the help H6466 [H8802] of them that work H205 iniquity.
3 H4714 Now the Egyptians H120 are men H410 , and not God H5483 ; and their horses H1320 flesh H7307 , and not spirit H3068 .   4 H3068 For thus hath the LORD H559 [H8804] spoken H738 to me, As the lion H3715 and the young lion H1897 [H8799] roaring H2964 on his prey H4393 , when a multitude H7462 [H8802] of shepherds H7121 [H8735] is called forth H2865 [H8735] against him, he will not be afraid H6963 of their voice H6031 [H8799] , nor abase H1995 himself for the noise H3068 of them: so shall the LORD H6635 of hosts H3381 [H8799] come down H6633 [H8800] to fight H2022 for mount H6726 Zion H1389 , and for its hill.
  5 H6833 As birds H5774 [H8802] flying H3068 , so will the LORD H6635 of hosts H1598 [H8686] defend H3389 Jerusalem H1598 [H8800] ; defending H5337 [H8689] also he will deliver H6452 [H8800] it; and passing over H4422 [H8689] he will preserve it.
6 H7725 [H8798] Turn H1121 ye to him from whom the children H3478 of Israel H6009 [H8689] have deeply H5627 revolted.
7 H3117 For in that day H376 every man H3988 [H8799] shall cast away H457 his idols H3701 of silver H457 , and his idols H2091 of gold H3027 , which your own hands H6213 [H8804] have made H2399 to you for a sin.
8 H804 Then shall the Assyrian H5307 [H8804] fall H2719 with the sword H376 , not of a mighty man H2719 ; and the sword H120 , not of a mean man H398 [H8799] , shall devour H5127 [H8804] him: but he shall flee H6440 from H2719 the sword H970 , and his young men H4522 shall become forced labourers.
9 H5674 [H8799] And he shall pass over H5553 to his strong hold H4032 for fear H8269 , and his princes H2865 [H8804] shall be afraid H5251 of the ensign H5002 [H8803] , saith H3068 the LORD H217 , whose fire H6726 is in Zion H8574 , and his furnace H3389 in Jerusalem.
Brenton(i) 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, who trust in horses and chariots, for they are many; and in horses, which are a great multitude; and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought the Lord. 2 Therefore he has wisely brought evils upon them, and his word shall not be frustrated; and he shall rise up against the houses of wicked men, and against their vain hope, 3 even an Egyptian, a man, and not God; the flesh of horses, and there is no help in them: but the Lord shall bring his hand upon them, and the helpers shall fail, and all shall perish together. 4 For thus said the Lord to me, As a lion would roar, or a lion's whelp over prey which he has taken, and cry over it, until the mountains are filled with his voice, and the animals are awe-struck and tremble at the fierceness of his wrath: so the Lord of hosts shall descend to fight upon the mount Sion, even upon her mountains. 5 As birds flying, so shall the Lord of hosts defend; he shall defend Jerusalem, and he shall rescue, and save and deliver. 6 Turn, ye children of Israel, who devise a deep and sinful counsel. 7 For in that day men shall renounce their silver idols and their golden idols, which their hands made. 8 And the Assyrian shall fall: not the sword of a great man, nor the sword of a mean man shall devour him; neither shall he flee from the face of the sword: but the young men shall be overthrown: 9 for they shall be compassed with rocks as with a trench, and shall be worsted; and he that flees shall be taken. Thus saith the Lord, Blesses is he that has a seed in Sion, and household friends in Jerusalem.

Leeser(i) 1 Woe to those that go down to Egypt for help; and depend for support on horses, and trust on chariots, because they are many; and on horsemen, because they are very strong; but who turn not unto the Holy One of Israel, and seek not the Lord! 2 Yet he also is wise, and bringeth evil, and taketh not back his words; and riseth up against the house of evil-doers, and against the help of those that work injustice. 3 But the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not spirit; and the Lord will stretch out his hand, and there shall stumble the helper, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they all shall perish together. 4 For thus hath said the Lord unto me, Just as the lion or the young lion growleth over his prey, against whom is called forth the company of shepherds, of whose voice he is not afraid, and is not depressed because of their multitude: thus will the Lord come down, to fight on mount Zion and on its hill. 5 As fluttering birds, so will the Lord of hosts shield Jerusalem; shielding and delivering; sparing and preserving. 6 Turn ye unto him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For on that day shall every man despise his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin. 8 Then shall Asshur fall by the sword of one who is not a man; and the sword of one who is not a son of earth shall devour him; and he shall flee him from the sword, and his young men shall become tributary. 9 And his stronghold shall pass away for fear, and his princes shall be terrified because of the ensign, saith the Lord, who hath a fire in Zion, and a furnace in Jerusalem.
YLT(i) 1 Woe to those going down to Egypt for help, And on horses lean, And trust on chariots, because many, And on horsemen, because very strong, And have not looked on the Holy One of Israel, And Jehovah have not sought. 2 And He also is wise, and bringeth in evil, And His words He hath not turned aside, And He hath risen against a house of evil doers, And against the help of workers of iniquity. 3 And the Egyptians are men, and not God, And their horses are flesh, and not spirit, And Jehovah stretcheth out His hand, And stumbled hath the helper, And fallen hath the helped one, And together all of them are consumed. 4 For thus said Jehovah unto me: `As growl doth the lion and the young lion over his prey, Called against whom is a multitude of shepherds, From their voice he is not affrighted, And from their noise he is not humbled; So come down doth Jehovah of Hosts To war on mount Zion, and on her height. 5 As birds flying, so doth Jehovah of Hosts Cover over Jerusalem, covering and delivering, Passing over, and causing to escape.'
6 Turn back to Him from whom sons of Israel Have deepened apostasy. 7 For in that day despise doth each His idols of silver, and his idols of gold, That your hands made to you—a sin. 8 And fallen hath Asshur by sword, not of the high, Yea, a sword—not of the low, doth consume him, And he hath fled for himself from the face of a sword, And his young men become tributary. 9 And to his rock from fear he passeth on, And affrighted by the ensign have been his princes—an affirmation of Jehovah, Who hath a light in Zion, And who hath a furnace in Jerusalem!
JuliaSmith(i) 1 Wo to those going down to Egypt for help; and they will look upon horses, and trust upon chariots, because they are many; and upon horsemen because they were strong greatly; and they looked not upon the Holy One of Israel, and sought not Jehovah. 2 And he also being wise and he will bring evil, and he removed not his words: and he rose up against the house of those doing evil, and against the help of those working vanity. 3 And the Egyptians, men and not God; and their horses, flesh and not spirit And Jehovah will stretch forth his hand, and he helping became weak, and he being helped, fell, and together shall they all be finished. 4 For thus spake Jehovah to me, As the lion shall growl, and the young lion over his prey, when a fulness of shepherds shall be called against him, from their voice shall he not be terrified, and shall not he be humbled from their noise: thus shalt Jehovah of armies come down to war from mount Zion and for its hill. 5 Its birds flying, so will Jehovah of armies cover over Jerusalem, covering and he delivered; and passing over he saved. 6 Turn ye back to him against whom the sons of Israel made a deep turning away. 7 For in that day they shall reject a man the vanities of his silver, and the vanities of his gold which your hands made for you to sin. 8 And Assur fell by the sword, not of a man, and the sword not of a man, shall consume him, and he fled for himself from the face of the sword, and his young men shall be for tribute. 9 And his rock shall pass through from fear, and his chiefs were terrified from the signal, says Jehovah whose light to him in Zion, and furnace to him in Jerusalem.
Darby(i) 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and depend on horses, and confide in chariots because [they are] many, and in horsemen because they are very strong; and who look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah! 2 But he also is wise, and he bringeth evil, and recalleth not his words; and he will arise against the house of evildoers, and against the help of workers of iniquity. 3 And the Egyptians are men, and not ?God, and their horses flesh, and not spirit; and Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, and he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall perish together. 4 For thus hath Jehovah said unto me: Like as the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, is not afraid of their voice, nor giveth way before the multitude of them; so will Jehovah of hosts come down to war upon mount Zion, and on the hill thereof. 5 As birds with outstretched wings, so will Jehovah of hosts cover Jerusalem; covering, he will also deliver, passing over, he will rescue [it]. 6 Turn unto him from whom ye have deeply revolted, ye children of Israel; 7 for in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which your sinful hands have made unto you. 8 And Asshur shall fall by the sword, not of a great man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become tributary; 9 and for fear, he shall pass over to his rock, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

Rotherham(i) 1 Alas! for them who are going down to Egypt for help, On horses, would rely,––And have trusted––In chariots––because they are many, and, In horsemen, because they are very bold, But have not looked unto the Holy One of Israel, And, onto Yahweh, have not sought. 2 But, he also, is wise, and hath brought in calamity, And, his own words, hath he not set aside,––Therefore will he rise up, Against the house of evil–doers, and, Against the help of the workers of iniquity. 3 Now, the Egyptians, are, men, and not, GOD, And, their horses, flesh, and not, spirit; When, Yahweh, shall stretch out his hand, Then, he that is giving help, shall stumble, And, he that is receiving help, shall fall, And, together, shall, all of them, vanish! 4 For, Thus, hath Yahweh said unto me––Like as a lion or a young lion growleth, over his prey. Who––though there be called out against him a multitude of shepherds––Will not, at their voice, be dismayed, Nor, at their noise, be daunted, So, will Yahweh of hosts come down, to make war over Mount Zion, and over the hill thereof. 5 As little mother–birds hovering, so, will Yahweh of hosts throw a covering over Jerusalem,––Covering, so will he rescue, Passing over, so will he deliver!
6 Return ye unto him, against whom the sons of Israel have deeply, revolted, 7 For, in that day, will every man reject his idols of silver, and his idols of gold,––Which your hands had made for you, as a sin! 8 Then shall the Assyrian fall, by the sword, not of a great man, And, the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him,––Howbeit he shall take his flight from the face of a sword, And, his young men, shall come, under tribute; 9 And, his own Cliff, through terror, shall he pass by, And his princes, shall be dismayed at an ensign,––Declareth Yahweh, Who hath a flame in Zion, And hath a furnace in Jerusalem.
Ottley(i) 1 Ah, they that go down into Egypt for help; that trust in horses and in chariots, for they are many, and in horses, they are a great multitude; and trusted not in the Holy One of Israel, and sought not God. 2 And, wise himself, he brought evils upon them; and his word shall not be set at nought; and he shall rise up against the houses of wicked men, and against their vain hope, 3 An Egyptian, a man, and not a god: the flesh of horses, and there is no help (in them); but the Lord shall set his hand against them, and they that (come to) help shall weary themselves, and all shall perish together. 4 For thus saith the Lord to me, Like as if the lion or the whelp crieth out over the prey, which he hath taken, and roareth over it until the mountains be filled with his voice; and they were vanquished, and cowered before the greatness of his wrath; so shall the Lord of Hosts come down to fight against the mount Zion, and against her mountains. 5 As birds flying, so will the Lord hold a shield to defend Jerusalem, and will deliver it, and preserve it, and will save it. 6 Turn you, ye that counsel the deep counsel, and the disobedient; 7 For in that day shall men disown the works of their hands, those of silver, and those of gold, which their hands have made. 8 And Asshur shall fall; not the sword of a man, nor the sword of mankind, shall devour him; and he shall flee, not from before a pursuer; but the young men shall be vanquished. 9 For they shall be encompassed by a rock, as with a palisade, and shall be vanquished, and he that fleeth shall be taken. ¶ Thus saith the Lord, Happy is he who hath a seed in Zion, and kinsmen in Jerusalem.
CLV(i) 1 Woe to those going down to Egypt for help! On horses are they leaning, and trusting in chariots, for they are many, and on horsemen, for they are very staunch. And they do not heed the Holy One of Israel, and of Yahweh Elohim they do not inquire." 2 Yet, moreover, He is wise, and will bring evil, and His words He does not take away, and He rises against the house of the evil doers, and against the help of the contrivers of lawlessness." 3 Yet Egyptians are human and not the El, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When Yahweh is stretching out His hand, then the helper falters; and he who is helped falls. And, together, all of them will be finished." 4 For thus says Yahweh to me, "As snarling is the lion and the sheltered lion over its prey, when calling against it are a full number of graziers, by their voice it is not being dismayed, and by their throng it is not being humbled, so will Yahweh of hosts descend to muster on mount Zion, and on its hill." 5 As birds flying, so will Yahweh of hosts protect Jerusalem. Protecting, He will also rescue, and skipping over, He will also make an escape." 6 Return to Him Who deepens counsel, you stubborn sons of Israel!" 7 For in that day each man will reject the forbidden idols of his silver, and the forbidden idols of his gold, which your hands make for you to sin." 8 And Assyria will fall by a sword, not of a man, and a sword, not of a human, shall devour it. And it flees, not from the presence of the sword, yet its choice men shall become a labor levy." 9 And its crag, from shrinking, shall pass, and dismayed are its chiefs from fleeing. Thus averring is Yahweh, whose light is in Zion, and his lamp is in Jerusalem."
BBE(i) 1 Cursed are those who go down to Egypt for help, and who put their faith in horses; looking to war-carriages for salvation, because of their numbers; and to horsemen, because they are very strong; but they are not looking to the Holy One of Israel, or turning their hearts to the Lord; 2 Though he is wise, and able to send evil, and his purpose will not be changed; but he will go against the house of the evil-doers, and against those to whom they are looking for help. 3 For the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not spirit: and when the Lord's hand is stretched out, the helper and he who is helped will come down together. 4 For the Lord has said to me, As a lion, or a young lion, makes an angry noise over his food, and if a band of herdsmen come out against him, he will not be in fear of their voices, or give up his food for their noise: so the Lord of armies will come down to make war against Mount Zion and its hill. 5 Like birds with outstretched wings, so will the Lord of armies be a cover to Jerusalem; he will be a cover and salvation for it, going over it he will keep it from danger. 6 Come back to him who has been so deeply sinned against by the children of Israel. 7 For in that day they will all give up their images of silver and of gold, the sin which they made for themselves. 8 Then the Assyrian will come down by the sword, but not of man; the sword, not of men, will be the cause of his destruction: and he will go in flight from the sword, and his young men will be put to forced work. 9 And his rock will come to nothing because of fear, and his chiefs will go in flight from the flag, says the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his altar in Jerusalem.
MKJV(i) 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and lean on horses and trust in chariots, because it is great; and in horsemen, because they are so very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor do they seek Jehovah! 2 Yet He also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back His Words, but will arise against the house of evil-doers and against the help of those who work iniquity. 3 And Egypt is a man, and not God; and their horses are flesh, and not Spirit. When Jehovah shall stretch out His hand, both he who helps shall fall, and he who is helped shall fall down, and they shall all cease together. 4 For so has Jehovah spoken to me: As the lion roars, even the young lion on his prey when a multitude of shepherds are gathered against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor fret himself because of their noise. So Jehovah of Hosts shall come down to fight for Mount Zion, and on its hill. 5 As birds flying, so Jehovah of Hosts will defend Jerusalem; also defending, He will deliver it; and passing over He will preserve it. 6 Turn to Him from whom the sons of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your hands have made for you, a sin. 8 Then Assyria shall fall with the sword, not of great man; and the sword, not of lowly man, shall devour him. For he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become forced labor. 9 And he shall pass over to his stronghold for fear, and his rulers shall be afraid of the banner, says Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and His furnace in Jerusalem.
LITV(i) 1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and lean on horses, and trust on chariotry, because it is great; and in horsemen because they are very strong! And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. And Jehovah stretches out His hand, and both he who helps shall fall, and he who is helped shall fall; and they shall all cease together. 4 For so Jehovah has said to me: As the lion roars, even the young lion on his prey when the multitude of shepherds are gathered against him, he will not fear their voice, nor fret himself because of their noise. So Jehovah of Hosts shall come down to fight on Mount Zion, and on its hill. 5 As birds that fly, so Jehovah of Hosts will shield over Jerusalem; shielding and delivering, and passing over, He will save it . 6 Turn back to Him against whom you have made a deep revolt, sons of Israel. 7 For in that day each shall despise his silver idols and his golden idols, which your hands have made for you; a sin. 8 Then Assyria shall fall by a sword, not of man; yea, a sword, not of man, shall devour him. For he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become forced labor. 9 And his rock will pass away from fear; and his commanders shall tremble at the banner, declares Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and His furnace in Jerusalem.

HO TO THEM WHO LOOK NOT UPON THE HOLY ONE
Ho to them who descend to Misrayim for help; and lean on horses and confide in chariots because they are many; and in cavalry because they are mighty mighty; and neither look to the Holy One of Yisra El nor seek Yah Veh. 2 Yet he also is wise and brings evil and turns not aside his words: but rises against the house of the vilifiers, and against the help of them who work mischief. 3 And the Misrayim are human, and not El; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When Yah Veh spreads his hand the helper falters and the helped falls and they all finish together. 4 For Yah Veh says thus to me, As the lion and the whelp meditate on his prey when a fulness of tenders call against him, he neither terrifies by their voice nor humbles himself for the multitude: thus Yah Veh Sabaoth descends to fight for mount Siyon and for the hill. 5 As birds flying, thus Yah Veh Sabaoth garrisons Yeru Shalem: and in garrisoning, he delivers; and passing over he rescues. 6 You, turn to him from whom the sons of Yisra El deepen revolt: 7 for in that day, every man spurns his idols of silver and his idols of gold - which your own hands worked to you, a sin: 8 and the Ashshuri fall with the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of humanity, consumes him: and he flees the face of the sword and his youths become vassals: 9 and he passes over to his rock from terror, and his governors dismay of the ensign - an oracle of Yah Veh whose flame is in Siyon and his furnace in Yeru Shalem.

4 H3541 For thus H3068 has the LORD H559 spoken H738 to me, Like as the lion H3715 and the young H3715 lion H1897 roaring H5921 on H2964 his prey, H834 when H4393 a multitude H7462 of shepherds H7121 is called H5921 forth against H2865 him, he will not be afraid H6963 of their voice, H3808 nor H6031 abase H1995 himself for the noise H3651 of them: so H3068 shall the LORD H6635 of hosts H3381 come H3381 down H6633 to fight H2022 for mount H6726 Zion, H1389 and for the hill thereof.
5 H6833 As birds H5774 flying, H3652 so H3068 will the LORD H6635 of hosts H1598 defend H3389 Jerusalem; H1598 defending H5337 also he will deliver H5674 it; and passing H4422 over he will preserve it.
6 H7725 Turn H834 you to him from whom H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H6009 have deeply H5627 revolted.
7 H3117 For in that day H376 every man H3988 shall cast H3988 away H457 his idols H3701 of silver, H457 and his idols H2091 of gold, H834 which H3027 your own hands H6213 have made H2399 to you for a sin.
8 H804 Then shall the Assyrian H5307 fall H2719 with the sword, H376 not of a mighty H376 man; H2719 and the sword, H120 not of a mean H120 man, H398 shall devour H5127 him: but he shall flee H2719 from the sword, H970 and his young H4522 men shall be discomfited.

KJ2000(i) 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! 2 Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. 3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. EJ2000(i) 1 ¶ Woe to those that go down to Egypt for help; and trust in horses and place their hope in chariots because they are many and in horsemen, because they are valiant, but they did not look unto the Holy One of Israel, neither did they seek the LORD! 2 Yet he also is wise to guide evil and will not cause his words to lie but will arise against the house of the evildoers and against the help of those that work iniquity. 3 Now the Egyptian is a man, and not God, and his horses flesh, and not spirit, so that as the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helps shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall down, and they shall all fail together. 4 For thus has the LORD spoken unto me, Like the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, even if a multitude of shepherds come forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voices, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of the hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion and for his hill. 5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of the hosts defend Jerusalem; defending, delivering, passing over, and saving it. 6 ¶ Turn ye unto him against whom ye have deeply revolted, O sons of Israel. 7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you as a sin. 8 Then the Assyrian shall fall by the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the presence of the sword, and his young men shall faint. 9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith the LORD, unto whom there is fire in Zion, and unto whom there is a furnace in Jerusalem.
CAB(i) 1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, who trust in horses and chariots, for they are many; and in horses, which are a great multitude; and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought the Lord. 2 Therefore He has wisely brought evils upon them, and His word shall not be frustrated; and He shall rise up against the houses of wicked men, and against their vain hope, 3 even an Egyptian, a man, and not God; the flesh of horses, and there is no help in them; but the Lord shall bring His hand upon them, and the helpers shall fail, and all shall perish together. 4 For thus said the Lord unto me, As a lion would roar, or a lion's whelp over prey which he has taken, and cry over it, until the mountains are filled with his voice, and the animals are awe-struck and tremble at the fierceness of his wrath; so the Lord of hosts shall descend to fight upon Mount Zion, even upon her mountains. 5 As birds flying, so shall the Lord of hosts defend; He shall defend Jerusalem, and He shall rescue, and save and deliver. 6 Turn, you children of Israel, who devise a deep and sinful counsel. 7 For in that day men shall renounce their silver idols and their golden idols, which their hands have made. 8 And the Assyrian shall fall; not the sword of a great man, nor the sword of a mean man shall devour him; neither shall he flee from the face of the sword; but the young men shall be overthrown; 9 for they shall be compassed with rocks as with a trench, and shall be overcome; and he that flees shall be taken. Thus says the Lord, Blessed is he that has a seed in Zion, and household friends in Jerusalem.

NSB(i) 1 How horrible it will be for those who go to Egypt for help! Cursed are those who rely on very strong warhorses, who depend on many chariots. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel. They do not seek Jehovah. 2 He is wise and can bring about disaster. He does not take back his words. He rises against wicked people and against those who help troublemakers. 3 The Egyptians are humans, not God. Their horses are flesh and blood, not spirit. Jehovah will stretch out his powerful hand (extend his power). The one who gives help will stumble. The one who receives help will fall. Both will die together. 4 This is what Jehovah said to me: »A lion, even a young lion, growls over its prey when a crowd of shepherds is called to fight it. It is not frightened by their voices or disturbed by the noise they make. So Jehovah of Hosts will come to fight for Mount Zion and on its hill. 5 »Jehovah of Hosts will defend Jerusalem like a hovering bird. He will defend it and rescue it. He will pass over it and protect it.« 6 Return you people of Israel, return to the one whom you have so violently rebelled against. 7 When that day comes, all of you will reject the worthless gods of silver and gold, the idols that your sinful hands have made. 8 Then Assyrians will be killed with a sword not made by human hands. The swords not made by human hands will destroy them. They will flee from battle, and their young men will be made to do forced labor. 9 »In terror they will run to their stronghold, and their officers will be frightened at the sight of the battle flag.« Jehovah declares this. His fire (light) is in Zion and his furnace is in Jerusalem.
ISV(i) 1 Only the LORD can Help “How terrible it will be for those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the chariot, because there are so many, and in charioteers, because they are so strong— but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or seek the LORD! 2 Yet he is also wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words, but will rise up against the house of those who practice evil and against anyone who assists people who work iniquity. 3 The Egyptians are men, not God, and their horses are physical, not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, anyone who assists will stumble, and the one who is helped will fall; and they will all perish together.”
4 The LORD will Defend JerusalemFor this is what the LORD told me: “Just as a lion or a young lion growls over his objects of prey,— even when a whole band of shepherds is called out against it, it is not alarmed at their shouting or disturbed by their clamor— so the LORD of the Heavenly Armies will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its hill. 5 Like birds hovering overhead, so the LORD of the Heavenly Armies will protect Jerusalem; he will shield and deliver it; and he will pass over and bring it to safety.
6 Turn back to him, yes to him whom your people have so greatly betrayed, you people of Israel. 7 For at that time, everyone will throw away their idols of silver and their idols of gold that your hands have sinfully made for yourselves. 8 “Then Assyria will fall by a sword that is not from human beings only— a sword not wielded by mortal beings will devour them. They will flee from the sword, and their young men will be put to forced labor. 9 Their stronghold will vanish by reason of terror, and their commanders will be filled with alarm because of the battle standard,” declares the LORD, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
LEB(i) 1 Ah! Those who go down to Egypt for help!
They rely on horses
and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very numerous, and they do not look to the holy one of Israel, and they do not consult Yahweh. 2 And indeed, he is wise, and he brings disaster, and he does not remove his words, and he will rise against the house of evildoers and against the help of workers of iniquity. 3 And the Egyptians are human and not God, and their horses are flesh and not spirit. And Yahweh stretches out his hand, and the helper will stumble, and the one being helped will fall, and together all of them will come to an end.* 4 For Yahweh said this to me:

it is not terrified by their voice, and to their noise it does not respond, so Yahweh of hosts will come down to fight upon Mount Zion and upon its hill. 5 Like birds flying overhead, so Yahweh of hosts will protect Jerusalem;

DarbyFR(i) 1
