2 Samuel 19:41-20:13

  41 H376 And, behold, all the men H3478 of Israel H935 came [H8802]   H4428 to the king H559 , and said [H8799]   H4428 unto the king H251 , Why have our brethren H376 the men H3063 of Judah H1589 stolen thee away [H8804]   H5674 , and have brought [H8686]   H4428 the king H1004 , and his household H1732 , and all David's H582 men H3383 with him, over Jordan?

  42 H376 And all the men H3063 of Judah H6030 answered [H8799]   H376 the men H3478 of Israel H4428 , Because the king H7138 is near of kin H2734 to us: wherefore then be ye angry [H8804]   H1697 for this matter H398 ? have we eaten [H8804]   H398 at all [H8800]   H4428 of the king's H5375 cost ? or hath he given [H8765]   H5379 us any gift?

  43 H376 And the men H3478 of Israel H6030 answered [H8799]   H376 the men H3063 of Judah H559 , and said [H8799]   H6235 , We have ten H3027 parts H4428 in the king H589 , and we H1732 have also more right in David H7043 than ye: why then did ye despise [H8689]   H1697 us, that our advice H7223 should not be first H7725 had in bringing back [H8687]   H4428 our king H1697 ? And the words H376 of the men H3063 of Judah H7185 were fiercer [H8799]   H1697 than the words H376 of the men H3478 of Israel.

  1 H7122 And there happened [H8738]   H376 to be there a man H1100 of Belial H8034 , whose name H7652 was Sheba H1121 , the son H1075 of Bichri H1145 , a Benjamite H8628 : and he blew [H8799]   H7782 a trumpet H559 , and said [H8799]   H2506 , We have no part H1732 in David H5159 , neither have we inheritance H1121 in the son H3448 of Jesse H376 : every H376 man H168 to his tents H3478 , O Israel.

  2 H376 So every man H3478 of Israel H5927 went up [H8799]   H310 from after H1732 David H310 , and followed H7652 Sheba H1121 the son H1075 of Bichri H376 : but the men H3063 of Judah H1692 clave [H8804]   H4428 unto their king H3383 , from Jordan H3389 even to Jerusalem.

  3 H1732 And David H935 came [H8799]   H1004 to his house H3389 at Jerusalem H4428 ; and the king H3947 took [H8799]   H6235 the ten H802 women H6370 his concubines H3240 , whom he had left [H8689]   H8104 to keep [H8800]   H1004 the house H5414 , and put [H8799]   H4931 them in ward H3557 , and fed [H8770]   H935 them, but went not in [H8804]   H6887 unto them. So they were shut up [H8803]   H3117 unto the day H4191 of their death [H8800]   H2424 , living H491 in widowhood.

  4 H559 Then said [H8799]   H4428 the king H6021 to Amasa H2199 , Assemble [H8685]   H376 me the men H3063 of Judah H7969 within three H3117 days H5975 , and be thou here present [H8798]  .

  5 H6021 So Amasa H3212 went [H8799]   H2199 to assemble [H8687]   H3063 the men of Judah H309 : but he tarried longer [H8799]   [H8675]   H3186   [H8799]   H4150 than the set time H3259 which he had appointed [H8804]   him.

  6 H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H52 to Abishai H7652 , Now shall Sheba H1121 the son H1075 of Bichri H3415 do us more harm [H8799]   H53 than did Absalom H3947 : take [H8798]   H113 thou thy lord's H5650 servants H7291 , and pursue [H8798]   H310 after H4672 him, lest he get [H8804]   H1219 him fenced [H8803]   H5892 cities H5337 , and escape [H8689]   H5869 us.

  7 H3318 And there went out [H8799]   H310 after H3097 him Joab's H582 men H3774 , and the Cherethites H6432 , and the Pelethites H1368 , and all the mighty men H3318 : and they went out [H8799]   H3389 of Jerusalem H7291 , to pursue [H8800]   H310 after H7652 Sheba H1121 the son H1075 of Bichri.

  8 H1419 When they were at the great H68 stone H1391 which is in Gibeon H6021 , Amasa H935 went [H8804]   H6440 before H3097 them. And Joab's H4055 garment H3830 that he had put on H2296 was girded [H8803]   H2289 unto him, and upon it a girdle H2719 with a sword H6775 fastened [H8794]   H4975 upon his loins H8593 in the sheath H3318 thereof; and as he went forth [H8804]   H5307 it fell out [H8799]  .

  9 H3097 And Joab H559 said [H8799]   H6021 to Amasa H7965 , Art thou in health H251 , my brother H3097 ? And Joab H270 took [H8799]   H6021 Amasa H2206 by the beard H3225 with the right H3027 hand H5401 to kiss [H8800]   him.

  10 H6021 But Amasa H8104 took no heed [H8738]   H2719 to the sword H3097 that was in Joab's H3027 hand H5221 : so he smote [H8686]   H2570 him therewith in the fifth H8210 rib, and shed out [H8799]   H4578 his bowels H776 to the ground H8138 , and struck him not again [H8804]   H4191 ; and he died [H8799]   H3097 . So Joab H52 and Abishai H251 his brother H7291 pursued [H8804]   H310 after H7652 Sheba H1121 the son H1075 of Bichri.

  11 H376 And one H3097 of Joab's H5288 men H5975 stood [H8804]   H559 by him, and said [H8799]   H4310 , He H2654 that favoureth [H8804]   H3097 Joab H1732 , and he that is for David H310 , let him go after H3097 Joab.

  12 H6021 And Amasa H1556 wallowed [H8706]   H1818 in blood H8432 in the midst H4546 of the highway H376 . And when the man H7200 saw [H8799]   H5971 that all the people H5975 stood still [H8804]   H5437 , he removed [H8686]   H6021 Amasa H4546 out of the highway H7704 into the field H7993 , and cast [H8686]   H899 a cloth H7200 upon him, when he saw [H8804]   H935 that every one that came [H8802]   H5975 by him stood still [H8804]  .

  13 H3014 When he was removed [H8689]   H4546 out of the highway H376 , all the people H5674 went on [H8804]   H310 after H3097 Joab H7291 , to pursue [H8800]   H310 after H7652 Sheba H1121 the son H1075 of Bichri.
