22 H3101 Thus Joash H4428 the king H2142 [H8804] remembered H2617 not the mercy H3077 which Jehoiada H1 his father H6213 [H8804] had done H2026 [H8799] to him, but slew H1121 his son. MSTC(i) 21 Whereupon they conspired against him and stoned him with stones, at the commandment of the king: even in the court of the house of the LORD. 22 And so Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, "The LORD see, and require a reckoning!" 23 And when the year was out, the host of the Syrians came against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the lords of the people from among the people and sent all the spoil of them unto the king to Damascus. 24 And though the army of Syria came with a small company of men, yet the LORD delivered a very great host into their hands, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. And thereto they served Joash according. 25 And as soon as they were departed from him, though they left him in great diseases: yet his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the children of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed. And when he was dead, they buried him in the city of David: but not in the sepulchers of the kings.
Matthew(i) 21 Wherupon they conspired agaynst hym and stoned hym with stones, at the commaundement of the kynge: euen in the courte of the house of the Lord. 22 And so Iehoas the kynge remembred not the kyndenes which Iehoiada his father had done to hym, but slue his sonne. And therto they serued Iehoas accordynge. 25 And as sone as they were departed from hym, though they left hym in great diseases: yet his owne seruauntes conspired agaynst hym for the bloude of the chyldren of Iehoiada the preste, & slue hym on hys beed. ARAM ASCENDS AGAINST YAH HUDAH AND YERU SHALEM
And so be it, at the revolution of the year, the valiant of Aram ascend against him: and they come to Yah Hudah and Yeru Shalem and ruin all the governors of the people from among the people; and send all their spoil to the sovereign of Dammeseq. 24 For the valiant of Aram come with little men; and Yah Veh gives a mighty great valiant into their hand, because they forsook Yah Veh Elohim of their fathers: thus they work judgments against Yah Ash. 25

NSB(i) 21 They plotted against Zechariah. Then they followed the king’s order and stoned him to death in the courtyard of Jehovah’s Temple. 22 King Joash forgot that Zechariah’s father had always been a loyal friend. So when the people of Judah plotted to kill Zechariah, Joash joined them and gave orders for them to stone him to death in the courtyard of the Temple. As Zechariah was dying, he said: »I pray that Jehovah will see this and punish all of you.« 23 The Aramean army attacked Joash at year’s end. They came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the people’s leaders. The Arameans sent all the loot they took from Judah and Jerusalem to the king of Damascus. 24 The Aramean army came with a small number of men. Jehovah handed Joash’s large army over to them because Joash’s soldiers had abandoned Jehovah the God of their ancestors. So the Arameans carried out Jehovah’s judgment on Joash. 25 The Arameans withdrew. They left him suffering from many wounds. His own officials plotted against him for murdering the son of the priest Jehoiada. They killed Joash in his bed and buried him in the City of David. But they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.
ISV(i) 21 But the people conspired against him, and at the direct orders of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD’s Temple. 22 This is how King Joash failed to remember the kindness that Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had shown him: he killed his son. As he lay dying, Zechariah cried out, “May the LORD watch this and avenge.”
23 The Death of Joash
At the end of that year, the Aramean army attacked Joash. They invaded Judah and Jerusalem, destroyed every senior official among the people, and sent all of their possessions to the king of Damascus. 24 The Aramean army attacked with only a small force, but the LORD delivered a much larger army into their control because Judah had abandoned the LORD God of their ancestors. And so the Aramean army carried out God’s judgment on Joash. 25 After the Arameans left him very sick, Joash’s own servants conspired against him because Joash had murdered Jehoiada the priest’s son, and they killed him on his sick bed.

24 Vaikka Syrian sotajoukko tuli vähällä väellä, kuitenkin antoi Herra sangen suuren joukon heidän käsiinsä, että he Herran isäinsä Jumalan hyljänneet olivat. Ja niin he myös rankaisivat Joaksen. 25 Ja kuin he läksivät hänen tyköänsä, jättivät he hänen suureen sairauteen.
