Job 2

  1 H3117 Again there was a day H1121 when the sons H430 of God H935 [H8799] came H3320 [H8692] to present H3068 themselves before the LORD, H7854 and Satan H935 [H8799] came H8432 also among H3320 [H8692] them to present H3068 himself before the LORD.

  2 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H7854 to Satan, H335 From where H935 [H8799] comest H7854 thou? And Satan H6030 [H8799] answered H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H7751 [H8800] From going to and fro H776 on the earth, H1980 [H8692] and from walking up and down upon it.

  3 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H7854 to Satan, H7760 [H8804] Hast thou H3820 considered H5650 my servant H347 Job, H776 that there is none like him on the earth, H8535 a perfect H3477 and an upright H376 man, H3373 one that feareth H430 God, H5493 [H8802] and turneth away from H7451 evil? H2388 [H8688] and still he holdeth fast H8538 his integrity, H5496 [H8686] although thou didst move H1104 [H8763] me against him, to swallow up H2600 him without cause.

  4 H7854 And Satan H6030 [H8799] answered H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H5785 Skin H5785 for skin, H376 even, all that a man H5414 [H8799] hath will he give H5315 for his life.

  5 H199 But H7971 [H8798] put forth H3027 thine hand H5060 [H8798] now, and touch H6106 his bone H1320 and his flesh, H1288 [H8762] and he will curse H6440 thee to thy face.

  6 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H7854 to Satan, H3027 Behold, he is in thine hand; H8104 [H8798] but save H5315 his life.

  7 H7854 So Satan H3318 [H8799] went forth H6440 from the face H3068 of the LORD, H5221 [H8686] and smote H347 Job H7451 with severe H7822 boils H3709 from the sole H7272 of his foot H6936 to his crown.

  8 H3947 [H8799] And he took H2789 a potsherd H1623 [H8692] to scrape H3427 [H8802] himself with; and he sat down H8432 among H665 the ashes.

  9 H559 [H8799] Then said H802 his wife H2388 [H8688] to him, Dost thou still retain H8538 thy integrity? H1288 [H8761] curse H430 God, H4191 [H8798] and die.

  10 H559 [H8799] But he said H1696 [H8762] to her, Thou speakest H259 as one H5036 of the foolish women H1696 [H8763] speaketh. H1571 What? H6901 [H8762] shall we receive H2896 good H430 at the hand of God, H6901 [H8762] and shall we not receive H7451 evil? H347 In all this did not Job H2398 [H8804] sin H8193 with his lips.

  11 H347 Now when Job's H7969 three H7453 friends H8085 [H8799] heard H7451 of all this evil H935 [H8802] that had come H935 [H8799] upon him, they came H376 every one H4725 from his own place; H464 Eliphaz H8489 the Temanite, H1085 and Bildad H7747 the Shuhite, H6691 and Zophar H5284 the Naamathite: H3259 [H8735] for they had made an appointment H3162 together H935 [H8800] to come H5110 [H8800] to mourn H5162 [H8763] with him and to comfort him.

  12 H5375 [H8799] And when they lifted up H5869 their eyes H7350 afar off, H5234 [H8689] and knew H5375 [H8799] him not, they raised H6963 their voice, H1058 [H8799] and wept; H7167 [H8799] and they tore H376 every one H4598 his mantle, H2236 [H8799] and sprinkled H6083 dust H7218 upon their heads H8064 toward heaven.

  13 H3427 [H8799] So they sat down H776 with him upon the earth H7651 seven H3117 days H7651 and seven H3915 nights, H1696 [H8802] and none spoke H1697 a word H7200 [H8804] to him: for they saw H3511 that his grief H3966 was very H1431 [H8804] great.
