Job 2 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

1 H3117 Again there was a day H1121 when the sons H430 of God H935 came H3320 to present H5921 themselves before H3068 the LORD, H7854 and Satan H935 came H1571 also H8432 among H3320 them to present H5921 himself before H3068 the LORD.

2 H3068 And the LORD H559 said H7854 to Satan, H335 From where H2088 H935 come H7854 you? And Satan H6030 answered H3068 the LORD, H559 and said, H7751 From going H7751 to and fro H776 in the earth, H1980 and from walking up and down in it.

3 H3068 And the LORD H559 said H7854 to Satan, H3820 Have you considered H5650 my servant H347 Job, H369 that there is none H3644 like H776 him in the earth, H8535 a perfect H3477 and an upright H376 man, H3373 one that fears H430 God, H5493 and eschews H7451 evil? H5750 and still H2388 he holds H8538 fast his integrity, H5496 although you moved H1104 me against him, to destroy H2600 him without H2600 cause.

4 H7854 And Satan H6030 answered H3068 the LORD, H559 and said, H5785 Skin H5785 for skin, H3605 yes, all H376 that a man H5414 has will he give H5315 for his life.

5 H7971 But put H7971 forth H3027 your hand H4994 now, H5060 and touch H6106 his bone H1320 and his flesh, H1288 and he will curse H6440 you to your face.

6 H3068 And the LORD H559 said H7854 to Satan, H2009 Behold, H3027 he is in your hand; H8104 but save H5315 his life.

7 H3318 So went H7854 Satan H3318 forth H6440 from the presence H3068 of the LORD, H5221 and smote H347 Job H7451 with sore H7822 boils H3709 from the sole H7272 of his foot H6936 to his crown.

8 H3947 And he took H2789 him a potsherd H1623 to scrape H3427 himself with; and he sat H8432 down among H665 the ashes.

9 H559 Then said H802 his wife H5750 to him, Do you still H2388 retain H8538 your integrity? H1288 curse H430 God, H4191 and die.

10 H559 But he said H1696 to her, You speak H259 as one H5039 of the foolish H1696 women speaks. H1571 What? H6901 shall we receive H2896 good H854 at the hand H430 of God, H6901 and shall we not receive H7451 evil? H3605 In all H2063 this H347 did not Job H2398 sin H8193 with his lips.

11 H347 Now when Job’s H7969 three H7453 friends H8085 heard H3605 of all H2063 this H7451 evil H935 that was come H935 on him, they came H376 every H376 one H4725 from his own place; H464 Eliphaz H8489 the Temanite, H1085 and Bildad H7747 the Shuhite, H6691 and Zophar H5284 the Naamathite: H3259 for they had made an appointment H3162 together H935 to come H5110 to mourn H5162 with him and to comfort him.

12 H5375 And when they lifted H5869 up their eyes H7350 afar H5234 off, and knew H5375 him not, they lifted H6963 up their voice, H1058 and wept; H7167 and they rent H376 every H376 one H4598 his mantle, H2236 and sprinkled H6083 dust H7218 on their heads H8064 toward heaven.

13 H3427 So they sat H776 down with him on the ground H7651 seven H3117 days H7651 and seven H3915 nights, H369 and none H1696 spoke H1697 a word H7200 to him: for they saw H3511 that his grief H3966 was very H1431 great.
