Thomson(i) 5 And when king David was going to Baurim, behold there came out thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Semei, son of Gera. He came out, cursing David as he came, 6 and throwing stones at David, and at all the servants of king David. Now all the people, even all the mighty men, were on the right and left of the king. 7 And in this manner Semei expressed himself when he cursed him, Out! Out! thou man of blood! thou miscreant! 8 The Lord hath retorted on thee all the blood of the house of Saul. Because thou hast reigned in his stead, therefore the Lord hath delivered the kingdom into the hands of Abessalom thy son. And behold thou art in distress, be 9 cause thou art a bloody man. 9 Whereupon Abessa, son of Saruia said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, and I will take off his head. 10 But the king said, What is it to me and you, sons of Saruia? Let him alone, and let him curse on; for the Lord hath told him to curse David, and who shall say Why hast thou done so? 11 Then David said to Abessa, and to all his servants, Behold my own son, who is descended from my loins, seeketh my life, and how much more then may this Jeminite do it! Let him curse, for the Lord hath bidden him. 12 Perhaps the Lord may look on my affliction, and return me good for his cursing this day. 13 So David and all his men proceeded on their march, and Semei went along the side of the mountain near him, cursing as he went, and throwing stones from the side of it, and casting up dust.
Webster(i) 5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came. 6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial: 8 The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man. 9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head. 10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said to him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so? 11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjaminite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him. 12 It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day. 13 And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

Leeser(i) 5 And when King David came as far as Bachurim, behold, there came out thence a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shim’i, the son of Gera, coming forth, and cursing. 6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right and on his left. 7 And thus said Shim’i as he cursed, Away, away, thou man of blood, and thou worthless man! 8 The Lord hath brought back upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou didst reign; and the Lord hath placed the kingdom into the hand of Abshalom thy son; and, behold, thou art now in thy misfortune, because a man of blood art thou. 9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruyah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my Lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and remove his head. 10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruyah? so let him curse; because the Lord hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so? 11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who hath come forth out of my own body, seeketh my life: how much more now this Benjamite? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath said it to him. 12 Perhaps the Lord will look on my affliction, and the Lord will requite me good instead of his cursing this day. 13 And David and his men went thus on the way. And Shim’i went on the side of the mount opposite to him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones toward him, and cast dust.
YLT(i) 5 And king David hath come in unto Bahurim, and lo, thence a man is coming out, of the family of the house of Saul, and his name is Shimei, son of Gera, he cometh out, coming out and reviling; 6 and he stoneth David with stones, and all the servants of king David, and all the people, and all the mighty men on his right and on his left. 7 And thus said Shimei in his reviling, `Go out, go out, O man of blood, and man of worthlessness! 8 Jehovah hath turned back on thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned, and Jehovah doth give the kingdom in to the hand of Absalom thy son; and lo, thou art in thine evil, for a man of blood thou art .' 9 And Abishai son of Zeruiah saith unto the king, `Why doth this dead dog revile my lord the king? let me pass over, I pray thee, and I turn aside his head.' 10 And the king saith, `What—to me and to you, O sons of Zeruiah? for—let him revile; even because Jehovah hath said to him, Revile David; and who saith, Wherefore hast Thou done so?' 11 And David saith unto Abishai, and unto all his servants, `Lo, my son who came out of my bowels is seeking my life, and also surely now the Benjamite; leave him alone, and let him revile, for Jehovah hath said so to him; 12 it may be Jehovah doth look on mine affliction, and Jehovah hath turned back to me good for his reviling this day.' 13 And David goeth with his men in the way, and Shimei is going at the side of the hill over-against him, going on, and he revileth, and stoneth with stones over-against him, and hath dusted with dust.

I will pass over now and take away his head. 10 And the king will say, What to me and you ye sons of Zeruiah? for he shall curse, and because Jehovah said to him, Curse David: and who shall say, Wherefore didst thou thus? 11 And David will say to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold my son who came forth from my bowels seeks my soul: and how much more now the son of the Jaminite? Leave to him and he shall curse, for Jehovah said to him. 12 Perhaps Jehovah will look upon my wrong, and Jehovah turn back to me good for his cursing this day. 13 And David went, and his men, in the way; and Shimei went by the side of the mountain near to him going, and he will curse and stone with stones near to him, and dusting with dust

Pass me over, I pray you, and I twist off his head. 10 And the sovereign says, What have I to do with you, you sons of Seruyah? he abases thus because Yah Veh says to him, Abase David. Who then is to say, Why work you so? 11 And David says to Abi Shai and to all his servants, Behold, my son who came from my inwards seeks my soul: how much more now this Ben Yaminiy? allow him to abase; for Yah Veh says to him. 12 Perhaps Yah Veh sees my humiliation and Yah Veh returns me good for his abasing this day. 13 And David and his men go by the way, and Shimi goes along beside him on the mountain side; and abases as he goes and stones stones beside him; and dusts dust.

NSB(i) 5 King David arrived at Bahurim. A man who was a distant cousin of Saul came out cursing. His name was Shimei, son of Gera. 6 Shimei threw stones at David and his officials. This was in spite of the fact that his men and his bodyguards surrounded David. 7 Shimei cursed him and said: »Get out! Get out you murderer! 8 »You took Saul’s kingdom. Now Jehovah is punishing you for murdering so many of Saul’s family. Jehovah has given the kingdom to your son Absalom. You are ruined, you bloodthirsty murderer!« 9 Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king: »Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over there and cut off his head!« 10 »What business is this of yours?« The king said to Abishai and his brother Joab. »If Jehovah told him to curse me who am I to stop him?« 11 David said to Abishai and to all his officials: »My own son is trying to kill me. Why should you be surprised at this Benjaminite? Jehovah told him to curse. Leave him alone and let him curse. 12 »Perhaps Jehovah will acknowledge my misery and give me some blessings to take away this curse.« 13 David and his men continued along the road. Shimei kept up with them. He walked on the hillside. He cursed and threw stones and dirt at them as he went.
ISV(i) 5 Shimei Curses DavidLater on, as King David approached Bahurim, Gera’s son Shimei, who was related to the family of Saul’s household, went out to meet David, cursing continually as he approached. 6 He threw rocks at David and all of David’s staff who were accompanying him, while all the rest of the entourage, including all of David’s security detail, were close by him. 7 “Get out of here! Get out!” Shimei yelled as he cursed. “You murderer! You who think you’re above the law! 8 The LORD has repaid you personally for murdering the entire dynasty of Saul, whose place you’ve taken to reign! And the LORD has given the kingdom into your son Absalom’s control. Now look! Your own evil has caught up with you, because you’re guilty of murder!”
9 At this point, Zeruiah’s son Abishai asked the king, “Why should this dead dog be cursing your majesty the king? May I have permission to go over and cut off his head?”
10 But the king responded, “What do I have in common with you sons of Zeruiah? If he continues to curse—and if the LORD has told him, ‘Curse David!’—then who are you to be demanding to know ‘Why have you done this?’”
11 So David ordered Abishai and all of his staff: “Look! My own son wants to kill me! How much more now is this descendant of Benjamin? Leave him alone and let him go on cursing, because the LORD has ordered him to do this. 12 Perhaps the LORD will take note of my troubles and return good to me instead of curses today!”
13 So David and his entourage went on their way, and Shimei walked along the hillside with him, cursing, throwing rocks, and tossing dirt at David as they went along.

Segond(i) 5 David était arrivé jusqu'à Bachurim.

7 A takto mluvil Semei, když mu zlořečil: Vyjdi, vyjdi, vražedlníče a nešlechetníče. Nechť jdu medle a setnu mu hlavu. 11 Řekl ještě David k Abizai i ke všechněm služebníkům svým: Aj, syn můj, kterýž pošel z života mého, hledá bezživotí mého, čím více nyní tento syn Jemini?

13 Kaj David kun siaj homoj dauxrigis sian vojon. Finnish(i) 5 Kuin kuningas David tuli Bahurimiin, katso, sieltä tuli yksi mies Saulin huoneen suvusta, Simei nimeltä, Geran poika, se läksi ulos ja kiroili käydessänsä, 6 Ja paiskeli kiviä Davidin puoleen, ja kaikkia kuningas Davidin palvelioita vastaan; sillä kaikki kansa ja kaikki väkevät olivat hänen oikialla ja vasemmalla puolellansa. 7 Ja Simei sanoi näin kiroillessansa häntä: ulos, ulos tänne, sinä verikoira, sinä Belialin mies! 8 Herra on maksanut sinulle kaiken Saulin huoneen veren, ettäs olet tullut hänen siaansa kuninkaaksi. Antakaat hänen kiroilla, sillä Herra on hänelle sanonut.
Ja katso, sinä olet itse joutunut onnettomuuteen, sillä murhamies sinä olet." 9 Niin Abisai, Serujan poika, sanoi kuninkaalle: "Miksi tuo koiranraato saa kiroilla herraani, kuningasta?

Pergi! Pembunuh! Penjahat! 8 Engkau telah merampas kerajaan Saul! Sekarang engkau dihukum TUHAN karena membunuh begitu banyak sanak saudara Saul. TUHAN telah memberikan kerajaanmu kepada anakmu Absalom. Sekarang mampuslah engkau, hai pembunuh!" 9 Abisai adik Yoab anak Zeruya, berkata kepada raja, "Mengapa Baginda biarkan pengacau itu mengutuki Baginda? Izinkanlah hamba menggorok lehernya!" 10 Tetapi raja berkata kepada Abisai dan Yoab abangnya, "Jangan pedulikan. Biarkan saja ia mengutuki aku.

Leisk man nueiti ir nuimti jam galvą”. 10 Karalius atsakė: “Kas man ir jums, Cerujos sūnūs!

11 Nadto rzekł Dawid do Abisajego i do wszystkich sług swoich: Oto syn mój, który wyszedł z żywota mego, szuka duszy mojej, jakoż daleko więcej teraz syn Jemini? Zaniechajcie go, niech złorzeczy; boć mu Pan rozkazał.
Deixa-me passar e tirar-lhe a cabeça.
