Proverbs 20

KJV_Strongs(i)
H3196 Wine H3887 is a mocker [H8801]   H7941 , strong drink H1993 is raging [H8802]   H7686 : and whosoever is deceived [H8802]   H2449 thereby is not wise [H8799]  .
H367 The fear H4428 of a king H5099 is as the roaring H3715 of a lion H5674 : whoso provoketh him to anger [H8693]   H2398 sinneth [H8802]   H5315 against his own soul.
H3519 It is an honour H376 for a man H7674 to cease H7379 from strife H191 : but every fool H1566 will be meddling [H8691]  .
H6102 The sluggard H2790 will not plow [H8799]   H2779 by reason of the cold H7592 ; therefore shall he beg [H8804]   [H8675]   H7592   [H8799]   H7105 in harvest, and have nothing.
H6098 Counsel H3820 in the heart H376 of man H6013 is like deep H4325 water H376 ; but a man H8394 of understanding H1802 will draw it out [H8799]  .
H7230 Most H120 men H7121 will proclaim [H8799]   H376 every one H2617 his own goodness H529 : but a faithful H376 man H4672 who can find [H8799]  ?
H6662 The just H1980 man walketh [H8693]   H8537 in his integrity H1121 : his children H835 are blessed H310 after him.
H4428 A king H3427 that sitteth in [H8802]   H3678 the throne H1779 of judgment H2219 scattereth away [H8764]   H7451 all evil H5869 with his eyes.
H559 Who can say [H8799]   H3820 , I have made my heart H2135 clean [H8765]   H2891 , I am pure [H8804]   H2403 from my sin?
H68 Divers weights H68   H374 , and divers measures H374   H8147 , both H1571 of them are alike H8441 abomination H3068 to the LORD.
H5288 Even a child H5234 is known [H8691]   H4611 by his doings H6467 , whether his work H2134 be pure H3477 , and whether it be right.
H8085 The hearing [H8802]   H241 ear H7200 , and the seeing [H8802]   H5869 eye H3068 , the LORD H6213 hath made [H8804]   H8147 even both of them.
H157 Love [H8799]   H8142 not sleep H3423 , lest thou come to poverty [H8735]   H6491 ; open [H8798]   H5869 thine eyes H7646 , and thou shalt be satisfied [H8798]   H3899 with bread.
H7451 It is naught H7451 , it is naught H559 , saith [H8799]   H7069 the buyer [H8802]   H235 : but when he is gone [H8801]   H1984 his way, then he boasteth [H8691]  .
H3426 There is H2091 gold H7230 , and a multitude H6443 of rubies H8193 : but the lips H1847 of knowledge H3366 are a precious H3627 jewel.
H3947 Take [H8798]   H899 his garment H6148 that is surety [H8804]   H2114 for a stranger [H8801]   H2254 : and take a pledge [H8798]   H5237 of him for a strange woman.
H3899 Bread H8267 of deceit H6156 is sweet H376 to a man H310 ; but afterwards H6310 his mouth H4390 shall be filled [H8735]   H2687 with gravel.
H4284 Every purpose H3559 is established [H8735]   H6098 by counsel H8458 : and with good advice H6213 make [H8798]   H4421 war.
H1980 He that goeth about [H8802]   H7400 as a talebearer H1540 revealeth [H8802]   H5475 secrets H6148 : therefore meddle [H8691]   H6601 not with him that flattereth [H8802]   H8193 with his lips.
H7043 Whoso curseth [H8764]   H1 his father H517 or his mother H5216 , his lamp H1846 shall be put out [H8799]   H380 in obscure [H8676]   H380   H2822 darkness.
H5159 An inheritance H926 may be gotten hastily [H8794]   [H8675]   H973   [H8794]   H7223 at the beginning H319 ; but the end H1288 thereof shall not be blessed [H8792]  .
H559 Say [H8799]   H7999 not thou, I will recompense [H8762]   H7451 evil H6960 ; but wait on [H8761]   H3068 the LORD H3467 , and he shall save [H8686]   thee.
H68 Divers weights H68   H8441 are an abomination H3068 unto the LORD H4820 ; and a false H3976 balance H2896 is not good.
H1397 Man's H4703 goings H3068 are of the LORD H120 ; how can a man H995 then understand [H8799]   H1870 his own way?
H4170 It is a snare H120 to the man H3216 who devoureth [H8804]   H6944 that which is holy H310 , and after H5088 vows H1239 to make enquiry [H8763]  .
H2450 A wise H4428 king H2219 scattereth [H8764]   H7563 the wicked H7725 , and bringeth [H8686]   H212 the wheel over them.
H5397 The spirit H120 of man H5216 is the candle H3068 of the LORD H2664 , searching [H8802]   H2315 all the inward parts H990 of the belly.
H2617 Mercy H571 and truth H5341 preserve [H8799]   H4428 the king H3678 : and his throne H5582 is upholden [H8804]   H2617 by mercy.
H8597 The glory H970 of young men H3581 is their strength H1926 : and the beauty H2205 of old men H7872 is the gray head.
H2250 The blueness H6482 of a wound H8562 cleanseth H7451 away evil H4347 : so do stripes H2315 the inward parts H990 of the belly.
ERV(i) 1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; and whosoever erreth thereby is not wise. 2 The terror of a king is as the roaring of a lion: he that provoketh him to anger sinneth [against] his own life. 3 It is an honour for a man to keep aloof from strife: but every fool will be quarrelling. 4 The slothful will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing. 5 Counsel in the heart of man is [like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out. 6 Most men wilt proclaim every one his own kindness: but a faithful man who can find? 7 A just man that walketh in his integrity, blessed are his children after him. 8 A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes. 9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? 10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD. 11 Even a child maketh himself known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. 12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them. 13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread. 14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth. 15 There is gold, and abundance of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel. 16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; and hold him in pledge [that is surety] for strangers. 17 Bread of falsehood is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. 18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and by wise guidance make thou war, 19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that openeth wide his lips. 20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in the blackest darkness. 21 An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed. 22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil: wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee. 23 Divers weights are an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance is not good. 24 A man’s goings are of the LORD; how then can man understand his way? 25 It is a snare to a man rashly to say, [It is] holy, and after vows to make inquiry. 26 A wise king winnoweth the wicked, and bringeth the [threshing] wheel over them. 27 The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the innermost parts of the belly. 28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy. 29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the hoary head. 30 Stripes that wound cleanse away evil: and strokes [reach] the innermost parts of the belly.
