Isaiah 28

KJV_Strongs(i)
H1945 Woe H5850 to the crown H1348 of pride H7910 , to the drunkards H669 of Ephraim H6643 , whose glorious H8597 beauty H5034 is a fading [H8802]   H6731 flower H7218 , which are on the head H8081 of the fat H1516 valleys H1986 of them that are overcome [H8803]   H3196 with wine!
H136 Behold, the Lord H2389 hath a mighty H533 and strong one H2230 , which as a tempest H1259 of hail H6986 and a destroying H8178 storm H2230 , as a flood H3524 of mighty H4325 waters H7857 overflowing [H8802]   H3240 , shall cast down [H8689]   H776 to the earth H3027 with the hand.
H5850 The crown H1348 of pride H7910 , the drunkards H669 of Ephraim H7429 , shall be trodden [H8735]   H7272 under feet:
H6643 And the glorious H8597 beauty H7218 , which is on the head H8081 of the fat H1516 valley H5034 , shall be a fading [H8802]   H6733 flower H1061 , and as the hasty fruit H7019 before the summer H7200 ; which when he that looketh [H8802]   H7200 upon it seeth [H8799]   H3709 , while it is yet in his hand H1104 he eateth it up [H8799]  .
H3117 In that day H3068 shall the LORD H6635 of hosts H5850 be for a crown H6643 of glory H6843 , and for a diadem H8597 of beauty H7605 , unto the residue H5971 of his people,
H7307 And for a spirit H4941 of judgment H3427 to him that sitteth [H8802]   H4941 in judgment H1369 , and for strength H7725 to them that turn [H8688]   H4421 the battle H8179 to the gate.
H428 But they H7686 also have erred [H8804]   H3196 through wine H7941 , and through strong drink H8582 are out of the way [H8804]   H3548 ; the priest H5030 and the prophet H7686 have erred [H8804]   H7941 through strong drink H1104 , they are swallowed up [H8738]   H4480 of H3196 wine H8582 , they are out of the way [H8804]   H7941 through strong drink H7686 ; they err [H8804]   H7203 in vision H6328 , they stumble [H8804]   H6417 in judgment.
H7979 For all tables H4390 are full [H8804]   H6892 of vomit H6675 and filthiness H4725 , so that there is no place clean .
H3384 Whom shall he teach [H8686]   H1844 knowledge H995 ? and whom shall he make to understand [H8799]   H8052 doctrine H1580 ? them that are weaned [H8803]   H2461 from the milk H6267 , and drawn H7699 from the breasts.
H6673 For precept H6673 must be upon precept H6673 , precept H6673 upon precept H6957 ; line H6957 upon line H6957 , line H6957 upon line H2191 ; here a little H2191 , and there a little:
H3934 For with stammering H8193 lips H312 and another H3956 tongue H1696 will he speak [H8762]   H5971 to this people.
H559 To whom he said [H8804]   H4496 , This is the rest H5889 wherewith ye may cause the weary H5117 to rest [H8685]   H4774 ; and this is the refreshing H14 : yet they would [H8804]   H8085 not hear [H8800]  .
H1697 But the word H3068 of the LORD H6673 was unto them precept H6673 upon precept H6673 , precept H6673 upon precept H6957 ; line H6957 upon line H6957 , line H6957 upon line H2191 ; here a little H2191 , and there a little H3212 ; that they might go [H8799]   H3782 , and fall [H8804]   H268 backward H7665 , and be broken [H8738]   H3369 , and snared [H8738]   H3920 , and taken [H8738]  .
H8085 Wherefore hear [H8798]   H1697 the word H3068 of the LORD H3944 , ye scornful H582 men H4910 , that rule [H8802]   H5971 this people H3389 which is in Jerusalem.
H559 Because ye have said [H8804]   H3772 , We have made [H8804]   H1285 a covenant H4194 with death H7585 , and with hell H6213 are we [H8804]   H2374 at agreement H7857 ; when the overflowing [H8802]   H7752 scourge [H8675]   H7885   H5674 shall pass through [H8799]   [H8675]   H5674   [H8804]   H935 , it shall not come [H8799]   H7760 unto us: for we have made [H8804]   H3577 lies H4268 our refuge H8267 , and under falsehood H5641 have we hid [H8738]   ourselves:
H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804]   H136 the Lord H3069 GOD H3245 , Behold, I lay [H8765]   H6726 in Zion H68 for a foundation a stone H976 , a tried H68 stone H3368 , a precious H6438 corner H3245 stone, a sure [H8716]   H4143 foundation H539 : he that believeth [H8688]   H2363 shall not make haste [H8686]  .
H4941 Judgment H7760 also will I lay [H8804]   H6957 to the line H6666 , and righteousness H4949 to the plummet H1259 : and the hail H3261 shall sweep away [H8804]   H4268 the refuge H3577 of lies H4325 , and the waters H7857 shall overflow [H8799]   H5643 the hiding place.
H1285 And your covenant H4194 with death H3722 shall be disannulled [H8795]   H2380 , and your agreement H7585 with hell H6965 shall not stand [H8799]   H7857 ; when the overflowing [H8802]   H7752 scourge H5674 shall pass through [H8799]   H4823 , then ye shall be trodden down by it.
H1767 From the time H5674 that it goeth forth [H8800]   H3947 it shall take [H8799]   H1242 you: for morning H1242 by morning H5674 shall it pass over [H8799]   H3117 , by day H3915 and by night H2113 : and it shall be a vexation H995 only to understand [H8687]   H8052 the report.
H4702 For the bed H7114 is shorter [H8804]   H8311 than that a man can stretch [H8692]   H4541 himself on it : and the covering H6887 narrower [H8804]   H3664 than that he can wrap [H8692]   himself in it .
H3068 For the LORD H6965 shall rise up [H8799]   H2022 as in mount H6559 Perazim H7264 , he shall be wroth [H8799]   H6010 as in the valley H1391 of Gibeon H6213 , that he may do [H8800]   H4639 his work H2114 , his strange [H8801]   H4639 work H5647 ; and bring to pass [H8800]   H5656 his act H5237 , his strange H5656 act.
H3887 Now therefore be ye not mockers [H8698]   H4147 , lest your bands H2388 be made strong [H8799]   H8085 : for I have heard [H8804]   H136 from the Lord H3069 GOD H6635 of hosts H3617 a consumption H2782 , even determined [H8737]   H776 upon the whole earth.
H238 Give ye ear [H8685]   H8085 , and hear [H8798]   H6963 my voice H7181 ; hearken [H8685]   H8085 , and hear [H8798]   H565 my speech.
H2790 Doth the plowman [H8802]   H2790 plow [H8799]   H3117 all day H2232 to sow [H8800]   H6605 ? doth he open [H8762]   H7702 and break the clods [H8762]   H127 of his ground?
H7737 When he hath made plain [H8765]   H6440 the face H6327 thereof, doth he not cast abroad [H8689]   H7100 the fitches H2236 , and scatter [H8799]   H3646 the cummin H7760 , and cast [H8804]   H7795 in the principal H2406 wheat H5567 and the appointed [H8737]   H8184 barley H3698 and the rie H1367 in their place?
H430 For his God H3256 doth instruct [H8765]   H4941 him to discretion H3384 , and doth teach [H8686]   him.
H7100 For the fitches H1758 are not threshed [H8714]   H2742 with a threshing instrument H5699 , neither is a cart H212 wheel H5437 turned about [H8714]   H3646 upon the cummin H7100 ; but the fitches H2251 are beaten out [H8735]   H4294 with a staff H3646 , and the cummin H7626 with a rod.
H3899 Bread H1854 corn is bruised [H8714]   H5331 ; because he will not ever H156 be threshing [H8800]   H1758   [H8799]   H2000 it, nor break [H8804]   H1536 it with the wheel H5699 of his cart H1854 , nor bruise [H8799]   H6571 it with his horsemen.
H3318 This also cometh forth [H8804]   H3068 from the LORD H6635 of hosts H6381 , which is wonderful [H8689]   H6098 in counsel H1431 , and excellent [H8689]   H8454 in working.
ERV(i) 1 Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of them that are overcome with wine! 2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one; as a tempest of hail, a destroying storm, as a tempest of mighty waters overflowing, shall he cast down to the earth with the hand. 3 The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under foot: 4 and the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as the firstripe fig before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up. 5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people: 6 and for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn back the battle at the gate. 7 But these also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are gone astray; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are gone astray through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. 8 For all tables are full of vomit [and] filthiness, [so that there is] no place [clean]. 9 Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts? 10 For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little. 11 Nay, but by [men of] strange lips and with another tongue will he speak to this people: 12 to whom he said, This is the rest, give ye rest to him that is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. 13 Therefore shall the word of the LORD be unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. 14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem: 15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: 16 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone] of sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. 17 And I will make judgment the line, and righteousness the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. 18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. 19 As often as it passeth through, it shall take you; for morning by morning shall it pass through, by day and by night: and it shall be nought but terror to understand the message. 20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it; and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. 21 For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his strange work, and bring to pass his act, his strange act. 22 Now therefore be ye not scorners, lest your bands be made strong: for a consummation, and that determined, have I heard from the Lord, the LORD of hosts, upon the whole earth. 23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech. 24 Doth the plowman plow continually to sow? doth he [continually] open and break the clods of his ground? 25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and put in the wheat in rows and the barley in the appointed place and the spelt in the border thereof? 26 For his God doth instruct him aright, [and] doth teach him. 27 For the fitches are not threshed with a sharp [threshing] instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod. 28 Bread [corn] is ground; for he will not ever be threshing it: and though the wheel of his cart and his horses scatter it, he doth not grind it. 29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
