1 Samuel 30 ויהי And it came to pass, בבא were come דוד when David ואנשׁיו and his men צקלג to Ziklag ביום day, השׁלישׁי on the third ועמלקי that the Amalekites פשׁטו had invaded אל had invaded נגב the south, ואל צקלג and Ziklag, ויכו and smitten את צקלג Ziklag, וישׂרפו and burned אתה באשׁ׃ it with fire;

1 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H935 בבא were come H1732 דוד when David H376 ואנשׁיו and his men H6860 צקלג to Ziklag H3117 ביום day, H7992 השׁלישׁי on the third H6003 ועמלקי that the Amalekites H6584 פשׁטו had invaded H413 אל had invaded H5045 נגב the south, H413 ואל H6860 צקלג and Ziklag, H5221 ויכו and smitten H853 את H6860 צקלג Ziklag, H8313 וישׂרפו and burned H853 אתה H784 באשׁ׃ it with fire;

2 H7617 וישׁבו H853 את H802 הנשׁים H834 אשׁר that H6996 בה מקטן or small, H5704 ועד either H1419 גדול great H3808 לא not H4191 המיתו therein: they slew H376 אישׁ any, H5090 וינהגו but carried away, H1980 וילכו and went H1870 לדרכם׃ on their way.

3 H935 ויבא came H1732 דוד So David H376 ואנשׁיו and his men H413 אל to H5892 העיר the city, H2009 והנה and, behold, H8313 שׂרופה burned H784 באשׁ with fire; H802 ונשׁיהם and their wives, H1121 ובניהם and their sons, H1323 ובנתיהם and their daughters, H7617 נשׁבו׃ were taken captives.

4 H5375 וישׂא him lifted up H1732 דוד Then David H5971 והעם and the people H834 אשׁר that H854 אתו with H853 את H6963 קולם their voice H1058 ויבכו and wept, H5704 עד until H834 אשׁר until H369 אין they had no more H3581 בהם כח power H1058 לבכות׃ to weep.

5 H8147 ושׁתי two H802 נשׁי wives H1732 דוד And David's H7617 נשׁבו were taken captives, H293 אחינעם Ahinoam H3159 היזרעלית the Jezreelitess, H26 ואביגיל and Abigail H802 אשׁת the wife H5037 נבל of Nabal H3761 הכרמלי׃ the Carmelite.

6 H3334 ותצר distressed; H1732 לדוד And David H3966 מאד was greatly H3588 כי for H559 אמרו spoke H5971 העם the people H5619 לסקלו of stoning H3588 כי him, because H4784 מרה H5315 נפשׁ the soul H3605 כל of all H5971 העם the people H376 אישׁ every man H5921 על for H1121 בנו his sons H5921 ועל and for H1323 בנתיו his daughters: H2388 ויתחזק encouraged himself H1732 דוד but David H3068 ביהוה in the LORD H430 אלהיו׃ his God.

7 H559 ויאמר said H1732 דוד And David H413 אל to H54 אביתר Abiathar H3548 הכהן the priest, H1121 בן son, H288 אחימלך Ahimelech's H5066 הגישׁה bring me hither H4994 נא I pray thee, H646 לי האפד the ephod. H5066 ויגשׁ brought H54 אביתר And Abiathar H853 את H646 האפד thither the ephod H413 אל to H1732 דוד׃ David.

8 H7592 וישׁאל inquired H1732 דוד And David H3068 ביהוה at the LORD, H559 לאמר saying, H7291 ארדף Shall I pursue H310 אחרי after H1416 הגדוד troop? H2088 הזה this H5381 האשׂגנו shall I overtake H559 ויאמר them? And he answered H7291 לו רדף him, Pursue: H3588 כי for H5381 השׂג thou shalt surely overtake H5381 תשׂיג thou shalt surely overtake H5337 והצל and without fail recover H5337 תציל׃ , and without fail recover

9 H1980 וילך went, H1732 דוד So David H1931 הוא he H8337 ושׁשׁ and the six H3967 מאות hundred H376 אישׁ men H834 אשׁר that H854 אתו with H935 ויבאו him, and came H5704 עד to H5158 נחל the brook H1308 הבשׂור Besor, H3498 והנותרים where those that were left behind H5975 עמדו׃ stayed.

10 H7291 וירדף pursued, H1732 דוד But David H1931 הוא he H702 וארבע and four H3967 מאות hundred H376 אישׁ men: H5975 ויעמדו abode behind, H3967 מאתים H376 אישׁ H834 אשׁר which H6296 פגרו were so faint H5674 מעבר that they could not go over H853 את H5158 נחל the brook H1308 הבשׂור׃ Besor.

11 H4672 וימצאו And they found H376 אישׁ H4713 מצרי H7704 בשׂדה in the field, H3947 ויקחו and brought H853 אתו H413 אל him to H1732 דוד David, H5414 ויתנו and gave H3899 לו לחם him bread, H398 ויאכל and he did eat; H8248 וישׁקהו and they made him drink H4325 מים׃ water;

12 H5414 ויתנו And they gave H6400 לו פלח him a piece H1690 דבלה of a cake of figs, H8147 ושׁני and two H6778 צמקים clusters of raisins: H398 ויאכל and when he had eaten, H7725 ותשׁב came again H7307 רוחו his spirit H413 אליו to H3588 כי him: for H3808 לא no H398 אכל he had eaten H3899 לחם bread, H3808 ולא nor H8354 שׁתה drunk H4325 מים water, H7969 שׁלשׁה three H3117 ימים days H7969 ושׁלשׁה and three H3915 לילות׃ nights.

13 H559 ויאמר said H1732 לו דוד And David H4310 למי unto him, To whom H859 אתה thou? H335 ואי and whence H2088 מזה H859 אתה thou? H559 ויאמר And he said, H5288 נער a young man H4713 מצרי of Egypt, H595 אנכי I H5650 עבד servant H376 לאישׁ H6003 עמלקי H5800 ויעזבני left H113 אדני and my master H3588 כי me, because H2470 חליתי ago I fell sick. H3117 היום days H7969 שׁלשׁה׃ three

14 H587 אנחנו We H6584 פשׁטנו made an invasion H5045 נגב the south H3774 הכרתי of the Cherethites, H5921 ועל and upon H834 אשׁר which H3063 ליהודה to Judah, H5921 ועל and upon H5045 נגב the south H3612 כלב of Caleb; H853 ואת H6860 צקלג Ziklag H8313 שׂרפנו and we burned H784 באשׁ׃ with fire.

15 H559 ויאמר said H413 אליו to H1732 דוד And David H3381 התורדני him, Canst thou bring me down H413 אל to H1416 הגדוד company? H2088 הזה this H559 ויאמר And he said, H7650 השׁבעה Swear H430 לי באלהים unto me by God, H518 אם that thou wilt neither H4191 תמיתני kill H518 ואם me, nor H5462 תסגרני deliver H3027 ביד me into the hands H113 אדני of my master, H3381 ואורדך and I will bring thee down H413 אל to H1416 הגדוד company. H2088 הזה׃ this

16 H3381 וירדהו And when he had brought him down, H2009 והנה behold, H5203 נטשׁים spread abroad H5921 על upon H6440 פני upon H3605 כל all H776 הארץ the earth, H398 אכלים eating H8354 ושׁתים and drinking, H2287 וחגגים and dancing, H3605 בכל because of all H7998 השׁלל spoil H1419 הגדול the great H834 אשׁר that H3947 לקחו they had taken H776 מארץ out of the land H6430 פלשׁתים of the Philistines, H776 ומארץ and out of the land H3063 יהודה׃ of Judah.

17 H5221 ויכם smote H1732 דוד And David H5399 מהנשׁף them from the twilight H5704 ועד even unto H6153 הערב the evening H4283 למחרתם of the next day: H3808 ולא not H4422 נמלט and there escaped H1992 מהם H376 אישׁ a man H3588 כי of them, save H518 אם of them, save H702 ארבע four H3967 מאות hundred H376 אישׁ men, H5288 נער young H834 אשׁר which H7392 רכבו rode H5921 על upon H1581 הגמלים camels, H5127 וינסו׃ and fled.

18 H5337 ויצל recovered H1732 דוד And David H853 את H3605 כל all H834 אשׁר that H3947 לקחו had carried away: H6002 עמלק the Amalekites H853 ואת H8147 שׁתי his two H802 נשׁיו wives. H5337 הציל rescued H1732 דוד׃ and David

19 H3808 ולא And there was nothing H5737 נעדר lacking H4480 להם מן to them, neither H6996 הקטן small H5704 ועד nor H1419 הגדול great, H5704 ועד neither H1121 בנים sons H1323 ובנות nor daughters, H7998 ומשׁלל neither spoil, H5704 ועד nor H3605 כל any H834 אשׁר that H3947 לקחו they had taken H3605 להם הכל all. H7725 השׁיב recovered H1732 דוד׃ to them: David

20 H3947 ויקח took H1732 דוד And David H853 את H3605 כל all H6629 הצאן the flocks H1241 והבקר and the herds, H5090 נהגו they drove H6440 לפני before H4735 המקנה cattle, H1931 ההוא those H559 ויאמרו and said, H2088 זה This H7998 שׁלל spoil. H1732 דוד׃ David's

21 H935 ויבא came H1732 דוד And David H413 אל to H3967 מאתים the two hundred H376 האנשׁים men, H834 אשׁר which H6296 פגרו were so faint H1980 מלכת that they could not follow H310 אחרי that they could not follow H1732 דוד David, H3427 וישׁיבם whom they had made also to abide H5158 בנחל at the brook H1308 הבשׂור Besor: H3318 ויצאו and they went forth H7122 לקראת H1732 דוד David, H7122 ולקראת H5971 העם the people H834 אשׁר that H854 אתו with H5066 ויגשׁ came near H1732 דוד him: and when David H853 את H5971 העם to the people, H7592 וישׁאל he saluted H7965 להם לשׁלום׃ he saluted

22 H6030 ויען Then answered H3605 כל all H376 אישׁ men H7451 רע the wicked H1100 ובליעל and of Belial, H376 מהאנשׁים of those H834 אשׁר that H1980 הלכו went H5973 עם with H1732 דוד David, H559 ויאמרו and said, H3282 יען H834 אשׁר that H3808 לא not H1980 הלכו they went H5973 עמי with H3808 לא us, we will not H5414 נתן give H7998 להם מהשׁלל them of the spoil H834 אשׁר H5337 הצלנו we have recovered, H3588 כי save H518 אם save H376 אישׁ to every man H853 את H802 אשׁתו his wife H853 ואת H1121 בניו and his children, H5090 וינהגו that they may lead away, H1980 וילכו׃ and depart.

23 H559 ויאמר Then said H1732 דוד David, H3808 לא Ye shall not H6213 תעשׂו do H3651 כן so, H251 אחי my brethren, H854 את with H834 אשׁר that which H5414 נתן hath given H3068 יהוה the LORD H8104 לנו וישׁמר us, who hath preserved H853 אתנו H5414 ויתן us, and delivered H853 את H1416 הגדוד the company H935 הבא that came H5921 עלינו against H3027 בידנו׃ us into our hand.

24 H4310 ומי For who H8085 ישׁמע will hearken H1697 לכם לדבר matter? H2088 הזה unto you in this H3588 כי but H2506 כחלק as his part H3381 הירד that goeth down H4421 במלחמה to the battle, H2506 וכחלק so his part H3427 הישׁב that tarrieth H5921 על by H3627 הכלים the stuff: H3162 יחדו alike. H2505 יחלקו׃ they shall part

25 H1961 ויהי And it was H3117 מהיום day. H1931 ההוא H4605 ומעלה forward, H7760 וישׂמה that he made H2706 לחק it a statute H4941 ולמשׁפט and an ordinance H3478 לישׂראל for Israel H5704 עד unto H3117 היום H2088 הזה׃ this

26 H935 ויבא came H1732 דוד And when David H413 אל to H6860 צקלג Ziklag, H7971 וישׁלח he sent H7998 מהשׁלל of the spoil H2205 לזקני unto the elders H3063 יהודה of Judah, H7453 לרעהו to his friends, H559 לאמר saying, H2009 הנה Behold H1293 לכם ברכה a present H7998 משׁלל for you of the spoil H341 איבי of the enemies H3068 יהוה׃ of the LORD;

27 H834 לאשׁר To which H1008 בבית אל in Bethel, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H7418 ברמות נגב Ramoth, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H3492 ביתר׃ in Jattir,

28 H834 ולאשׁר And to which H6177 בערער in Aroer, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H8224 בשׂפמות in Siphmoth, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H851 באשׁתמע׃ in Eshtemoa,

29 H834 ולאשׁר And to which H7403 ברכל in Rachal, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H5892 בערי in the cities H3397 הירחמאלי of the Jerahmeelites, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H5892 בערי in the cities H7017 הקיני׃ of the Kenites,

30 H834 ולאשׁר And to which H2767 בחרמה in Hormah, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H3565 בבור עשׁן in Chor-ashan, H834 ולאשׁר and to which H6269 בעתך׃ in Athach,

31 H834 ולאשׁר And to which H2275 בחברון in Hebron, H3605 ולכל and to all H4725 המקמות the places H834 אשׁר where H1980 התהלך were wont to haunt. H8033 שׁם where H1732 דוד David H1931 הוא himself H376 ואנשׁיו׃ and his men
