2 Chronicles 20:1-37 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

1 H1961 It came H310 to pass after H3651 this H1121 also, that the children H4124 of Moab, H1121 and the children H5983 of Ammon, H5984 and with them other beside the Ammonites, H935 came H5921 against H3092 Jehoshaphat H4421 to battle.

2 H935 Then there came H5046 some that told H3092 Jehoshaphat, H559 saying, H935 There comes H7227 a great H1995 multitude H5921 against H5676 you from beyond H3220 the sea H758 on this side Syria; H2009 and, behold, H2688 they be in Hazazontamar, H1958 which H5872 is Engedi.

3 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H3372 feared, H5414 and set H6440 himself H1875 to seek H3068 the LORD, H7121 and proclaimed H6685 a fast H5921 throughout H3605 all H3063 Judah.

4 H3063 And Judah H6908 gathered H1245 themselves together, to ask H5826 help H3068 of the LORD: H1571 even H3605 out of all H5892 the cities H3063 of Judah H935 they came H1245 to seek H3068 the LORD.

5 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H5975 stood H6951 in the congregation H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem, H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD, H6440 before H2319 the new H2691 court,

6 H559 And said, H3068 O LORD H430 God H1 of our fathers, H430 are not you God H8064 in heaven? H4910 and rule H3605 not you over all H4467 the kingdoms H1471 of the heathen? H3027 and in your hand H3581 is there not power H1369 and might, H369 so that none H3320 is able to withstand you?

7 H430 Are not you our God, H3423 who did drive H3427 out the inhabitants H2063 of this H776 land H6440 before H5971 your people H3478 Israel, H5414 and gave H2233 it to the seed H85 of Abraham H157 your friend H5769 for ever?

8 H3427 And they dwelled H1129 therein, and have built H4720 you a sanctuary H8034 therein for your name, H559 saying,

9 H518 If, H7451 when evil H935 comes H2719 on us, as the sword, H8196 judgment, H1698 or pestilence, H7458 or famine, H5975 we stand H6440 before H2088 this H1004 house, H6440 and in your presence, H8034 (for your name H2088 is in this H1004 house, H2199 ) and cry H6869 to you in our affliction, H8085 then you will hear H3467 and help.

10 H6258 And now, H2009 behold, H1121 the children H5983 of Ammon H4124 and Moab H2022 and mount H8165 Seir, H834 whom H3478 you would not let Israel H935 invade, H935 when they came H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt, H5493 but they turned H8045 from them, and destroyed them not;

11 H2009 Behold, H1580 I say, how they reward H935 us, to come H1644 to cast H3425 us out of your possession, H834 which H3423 you have given us to inherit.

12 H430 O our God, H8199 will you not judge H369 them? for we have no H3581 might H6440 against H2088 this H7227 great H1995 company H935 that comes H5921 against H3808 us; neither H3045 know H4100 we what H6213 to do: H5869 but our eyes are on you.

13 H3605 And all H3063 Judah H5975 stood H6440 before H3068 the LORD, H2945 with their little H802 ones, their wives, H1121 and their children.

14 H3166 Then on Jahaziel H1121 the son H2148 of Zechariah, H1121 the son H1141 of Benaiah, H1121 the son H3273 of Jeiel, H1121 the son H4983 of Mattaniah, H3881 a Levite H1121 of the sons H623 of Asaph, H1961 came H7307 the Spirit H3068 of the LORD H8432 in the middle H6951 of the congregation;

15 H559 And he said, H7181 Listen H3605 you, all H3063 Judah, H3427 and you inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem, H4428 and you king H3092 Jehoshaphat, H3541 Thus H559 said H3068 the LORD H3372 to you, Be not afraid H408 nor H2865 dismayed H6440 by reason H2088 of this H7227 great H1995 multitude; H4421 for the battle H430 is not yours, but God’s.

16 H4279 To morrow H3381 go H3381 you down H5921 against H2009 them: behold, H5927 they come H4608 up by the cliff H6732 of Ziz; H4672 and you shall find H5490 them at the end H5158 of the brook, H6440 before H4057 the wilderness H3385 of Jeruel.

17 H3898 You shall not need to fight H2063 in this H3320 battle: set H5975 yourselves, stand H7200 you still, and see H3444 the salvation H3068 of the LORD H3063 with you, O Judah H3389 and Jerusalem: H3372 fear H408 not, nor H2865 be dismayed; H4279 to morrow H3318 go H6440 out against H3068 them: for the LORD will be with you.

18 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H6915 bowed H639 his head with his face H776 to the ground: H3605 and all H3063 Judah H3427 and the inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem H5307 fell H6440 before H3068 the LORD, H7812 worshipping H3068 the LORD.

19 H3881 And the Levites, H1121 of the children H6956 of the Kohathites, H1121 and of the children H7145 of the Korhites, H6965 stood H1984 up to praise H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H1419 with a loud H6963 voice H4605 on high.

20 H7925 And they rose H7925 early H1242 in the morning, H3318 and went H3318 forth H4057 into the wilderness H8620 of Tekoa: H3318 and as they went H3318 forth, H3092 Jehoshaphat H5975 stood H559 and said, H8085 Hear H3063 me, O Judah, H3427 and you inhabitants H3389 of Jerusalem; H539 Believe H3068 in the LORD H430 your God, H539 so shall you be established; H539 believe H5030 his prophets, H6743 so shall you prosper.

21 H3289 And when he had consulted H5971 with the people, H5975 he appointed H7891 singers H3068 to the LORD, H1984 and that should praise H1927 the beauty H6944 of holiness, H3318 as they went H6440 out before H2502 the army, H559 and to say, H3034 Praise H3068 the LORD; H2617 for his mercy H5769 endures for ever.

22 H6256 And when H2490 they began H7440 to sing H8416 and to praise, H3068 the LORD H5414 set H693 ambushes H5921 against H1121 the children H5983 of Ammon, H4124 Moab, H2022 and mount H8165 Seir, H935 which were come H3063 against Judah; H5062 and they were smitten.

23 H1121 For the children H5983 of Ammon H4124 and Moab H5975 stood H5921 up against H3427 the inhabitants H2022 of mount H8165 Seir, H2763 utterly to slay H8045 and destroy H3615 them: and when they had made an end H3427 of the inhabitants H8165 of Seir, H376 every H5826 one helped H4889 to destroy H7453 another.

24 H3063 And when Judah H935 came H5921 toward H4707 the watch H4057 tower in the wilderness, H6437 they looked H1995 to the multitude, H2009 and, behold, H6297 they were dead H6297 bodies H5307 fallen H776 to the earth, H369 and none H6413 escaped.

25 H3092 And when Jehoshaphat H5971 and his people H935 came H962 to take H7998 away the spoil H4672 of them, they found H7230 among them in abundance H7399 both riches H6297 with the dead H6297 bodies, H2530 and precious H3627 jewels, H5337 which they stripped H369 off for themselves, more than H4853 they could carry H7969 away: and they were three H3117 days H962 in gathering H7998 of the spoil, H7227 it was so much.

26 H7243 And on the fourth H3117 day H6950 they assembled H6010 themselves in the valley H1294 of Berachah; H8033 for there H1288 they blessed H3068 the LORD: H5921 therefore H3651 H8034 the name H1931 of the same H4725 place H7121 was called, H6010 The valley H1294 of Berachah, H2088 to this H3117 day.

27 H7725 Then they returned, H3605 every H376 man H3063 of Judah H3389 and Jerusalem, H3092 and Jehoshaphat H7218 in the forefront H7725 of them, to go H7725 again H3389 to Jerusalem H8057 with joy; H3068 for the LORD H8055 had made them to rejoice H341 over their enemies.

28 H935 And they came H3389 to Jerusalem H5035 with psalteries H3658 and harps H2689 and trumpets H1004 to the house H3068 of the LORD.

29 H6343 And the fear H430 of God H5921 was on H3605 all H4467 the kingdoms H776 of those countries, H8085 when they had heard H3068 that the LORD H3898 fought H5973 against H341 the enemies H3478 of Israel.

30 H4438 So the realm H3092 of Jehoshaphat H8252 was quiet: H430 for his God H5117 gave him rest H5439 round about.

31 H3092 And Jehoshaphat H4427 reigned H5921 over H3063 Judah: H7970 he was thirty H2568 and five H8141 years H1121 old H4427 when he began to reign, H4427 and he reigned H6242 twenty H2568 and five H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem. H517 And his mother’s H8034 name H5806 was Azubah H1323 the daughter H7977 of Shilhi.

32 H3212 And he walked H1870 in the way H609 of Asa H25 his father, H5493 and departed H6213 not from it, doing H3477 that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD.

33 H1116 However, the high H5493 places were not taken H5493 away: H5750 for as yet H5971 the people H3559 had not prepared H3824 their hearts H430 to the God H1 of their fathers.

34 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H3092 of Jehoshaphat, H7223 first H314 and last, H2009 behold, H3789 they are written H1697 in the book H3058 of Jehu H1121 the son H2607 of Hanani, H834 who H5927 is mentioned H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel.

35 H310 And after H3651 this H3092 did Jehoshaphat H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2266 join H274 himself with Ahaziah H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H1931 who H6213 did H7561 very wickedly:

36 H2266 And he joined H6213 himself with him to make H591 ships H3212 to go H8659 to Tarshish: H6213 and they made H591 the ships H6100 in Eziongaber.

37 H461 Then Eliezer H1121 the son H1735 of Dodavah H4762 of Mareshah H5012 prophesied H5921 against H3092 Jehoshaphat, H559 saying, H2266 Because you have joined H274 yourself with Ahaziah, H3068 the LORD H6555 has broken H4639 your works. H591 And the ships H7665 were broken, H6113 that they were not able H3212 to go H8659 to Tarshish.
