Esther 3:1-15 After these things king Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

1 H310 After H1697 these things H4428 king H325 Ahasuerus H1431 [H8765] promoted H2001 Haman H1121 the son H4099 of Hammedatha H91 the Agagite, H5375 [H8762] and advanced H7760 [H8799] him, and set H3678 his seat H8269 above all the princes that were with him.

2 H4428 And all the king's H5650 servants, H4428 that were in the king's H8179 gate, H3766 [H8802] were bowing H7812 [H8693] and prostrating themselves H9005 to H2001 Haman: H4428 for the king H6680 [H8765] had so commanded H9005 concerning H9003 him. H9002 But H4782 Mordecai H3808 did not H3766 [H8799] bow H9002 and H3808 did not H7812 [H8691] prostrate himself.

3 H4428 Then the king's H5650 servants, H4428 who were in the king's H8179 gate, H559 [H8799] said H4782 to Mordecai, H5674 [H8802] Why dost thou transgress H4428 the king's H4687 commandment?

4 H559 [H8800] Now it came to pass, when they spoke H3117 daily H8085 [H8804] to him, and he hearkened H5046 [H8686] not to them, that they told H2001 Haman, H7200 [H8800] to see H4782 whether Mordecai's H1697 reason H5975 [H8799] would stand: H5046 [H8689] for he had told H3064 them that he was a Judean.

5 H2001 And when Haman H7200 [H8799] saw H4782 that Mordecai H3766 [H8802] bowed H7812 [H8693] not, nor did pay him honour, H2001 then was Haman H4390 [H8735] full H2534 of hot anger.

6 H5869 H959 [H8799] And he disdained H7971 [H8800] to lay H3027 hands H4782 on Mordecai H5046 [H8689] alone; for they had made known to H5971 him the people H4782 of Mordecai: H2001 therefore Haman H1245 [H8762] sought H8045 [H8687] to desolate H3064 all the Judeans H4438 that were throughout the whole kingdom H325 of Ahasuerus, H5971 even the people H4782 of Mordecai.

7 H7223 In the first H2320 month, H2320 that is, the month H5212 Nisan, H8147 H6240 in the twelfth H8141 year H4428 of king H325 Ahasuerus, H5307 [H8689] they cast H6332 Pur, H1486 that is, the lot, H6440 at the face of H2001 Haman H3117 from day H3117 to day, H2320 and from month H2320 to month, H8147 H6240 to the twelfth H2320 month, that is, the month H143 Adar.

8 H2001 And Haman H559 [H8799] said H4428 to king H325 Ahasuerus, H3426 There is H259 a certain H5971 people H6340 [H8794] scattered abroad H6504 [H8794] and dispersed H5971 among the people H4082 in all the provinces H4438 of thy kingdom; H1881 and their laws H8138 [H8802] are different H5971 from all people; H6213 [H8802] neither keep H4428 they the king's H1881 laws: H4428 therefore it is not for the king's H7737 [H8802] profit H3240 [H8687] to allow them to remain.

9 H2895 [H8804] If it shall please H4428 the king, H3789 [H8735] let it be written H6 [H8763] that they may be destroyed: H8254 [H8799] and I will pay H6235 ten H505 thousand H3603 talents H3701 of silver H3027 to the hands H6213 [H8802] of those that have the charge H4399 of the business, H935 [H8687] to bring H4428 it into the king's H1595 treasuries.

10 H4428 And the king H5493 [H8686] took H2885 his ring H3027 from his hand, H5414 [H8799] and gave H2001 it to Haman H1121 the son H4099 of Hammedatha H91 the Agagite, H6887 [H8802] the one binding H3064 the Judeans.

11 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H2001 to Haman, H3701 The silver H5414 [H8803] is given H5971 to thee, the people H6213 [H8800] also, to do H5869 with them as it seemeth H2896 good to thee.

12 H4428 Then were the king's H5608 [H8802] scribes H7121 [H8735] called H7969 H6240 on the thirteenth H3117 day H7223 of the first H2320 month, H3789 [H8735] and there was written H2001 according to all that Haman H6680 [H8765] had commanded H4428 to the king's H323 satraps, H6346 and to the governors H4082 that were over every province, H8269 and to the princes H5971 of every people H4082 of every province H3791 according to the writing H5971 of it, and to every people H3956 after their language; H8034 in the name H4428 of king H325 Ahasuerus H3789 [H8737] was it written, H2856 [H8738] and sealed H4428 with the king's H2885 ring.

13 H5612 And the letters H7971 [H8736] were sent H3027 by H7323 [H8801] posts H4428 into all the king's H4082 provinces, H8045 [H8687] to desolate, H2026 [H8800] to kill, H6 [H8763] and to cause to perish, H3064 all Judeans, H5288 both young H2205 and old, H2945 little children H802 and women, H259 in one H3117 day, H7969 H6240 even upon the thirteenth H8147 H6240 day of the twelfth H2320 month, H2320 which is the month H143 Adar, H7998 and to plunder H962 [H8800] them for spoil.

14 H6572 The copy H3791 of the writing H1881 for a commandment H5414 [H8736] to be given H4082 in every province H1540 [H8803] was proclaimed H5971 to all people, H6264 that they should be ready H3117 for that day.

15 H7323 [H8801] The posts H3318 [H8804] departed, H1765 [H8803] being hastened H4428 by the king's H1697 commandment, H1881 and the decree H5414 [H8738] was given H7800 in Shushan H1002 the palace. H4428 And the king H2001 and Haman H3427 [H8804] sat down H8354 [H8800] to drink; H5892 but the city H7800 Shushan H943 [H8737] was perplexed.
