And the messengers departed and brought him word. 10 Then Benhadad sent unto him and said, "Thus do the gods to me and so thereto, if the dust of Samaria be enough for all the people that follow me, that every man may have a handful." 11 And the king of Israel answered and said, "Tell him, 'Let not him that putteth on his harness boast himself, as he putteth it off.'"

And the messengers departed and brought hym worde. 10 Then Benhadad sent vnto him and said: thus do the Gods to me and so therto, yf the dust of Samaria be ynough for al the people that folow me, that euery man maye haue an handfull. 11 And the kynge of Israel answered and sayd: tell hym, let not him that putteth on hys harnesse bost him self, as he that putteth it of.

І станеться, на все, що сподобається їм, вони накладуть свої руки, та й заберуть... 7 І скликав Ізраїлів цар усіх старших Краю та й сказав: Довідайтеся й побачите, що він шукає зла, бо послав до мене по жінок моїх, і по синів моїх, і по срібло моє, і по золото моє, і я йому не відмовив. 8 І сказали до нього всі старші та ввесь народ: Не слухай, і не погоджуйся! 9 І сказав він до послів Бен-Гадада: Скажіть моєму панові цареві: Усе, про що посилав ти до свого раба напочатку, я зроблю, а цієї речі зробити не можу. І пішли посли, і віднесли йому відповідь. 10 І послав до нього Бен-Гадад та й сказав: Нехай так зроблять мені боги, і нехай так додадуть, якщо самарійського пороху вистачить по жмені всьому народові, що стоїть при мені!... 11 І відповів Ізраїлів цар та й сказав: Кажіть: Хай не хвалиться той, хто меча припинає, а той, хто розв'язує!
