KJV_Strongs(i)
H3503 When Jethro H3548 , the priest H4080 of Midian H4872 , Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H8085 , heard [H8799]   H430 of all that God H6213 had done [H8804]   H4872 for Moses H3478 , and for Israel H5971 his people H3068 , and that the LORD H3318 had brought [H8689]   H3478 Israel H4714 out of Egypt;
H3503 Then Jethro H4872 , Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H3947 , took [H8799]   H6855 Zipporah H4872 , Moses H802 ' wife H310 , after H7964 he had sent her back,
H8147 And her two H1121 sons H8034 ; of which the name H259 of the one H1647 was Gershom H559 ; for he said [H8804]   H1616 , I have been an alien H5237 in a strange H776 land:
H8034 And the name H259 of the other H461 was Eliezer H430 ; for the God H1 of my father H5828 , said he, was mine help H5337 , and delivered [H8686]   H2719 me from the sword H6547 of Pharaoh:
H3503 And Jethro H4872 , Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H935 , came [H8799]   H1121 with his sons H802 and his wife H4872 unto Moses H4057 into the wilderness H2583 , where he encamped [H8802]   H2022 at the mount H430 of God:
H559 And he said [H8799]   H4872 unto Moses H2859 , I thy father in law [H8802]   H3503 Jethro H935 am come [H8802]   H802 unto thee, and thy wife H8147 , and her two H1121 sons with her.
H4872 And Moses H3318 went out [H8799]   H7125 to meet [H8800]   H2859 his father in law [H8802]   H7812 , and did obeisance [H8691]   H5401 , and kissed [H8799]   H7592 him; and they asked [H8799]   H376 each H7453 other H7965 of their welfare H935 ; and they came [H8799]   H168 into the tent.
H4872 And Moses H5608 told [H8762]   H2859 his father in law [H8802]   H3068 all that the LORD H6213 had done [H8804]   H6547 unto Pharaoh H4714 and to the Egyptians H3478 for Israel's H182 sake H8513 , and all the travail H4672 that had come [H8804]   H1870 upon them by the way H3068 , and how the LORD H5337 delivered [H8686]   them.
H3503 And Jethro H2302 rejoiced [H8799]   H2896 for all the goodness H3068 which the LORD H6213 had done [H8804]   H3478 to Israel H5337 , whom he had delivered [H8689]   H3027 out of the hand H4714 of the Egyptians.
H3503 And Jethro H559 said [H8799]   H1288 , Blessed [H8803]   H3068 be the LORD H5337 , who hath delivered [H8689]   H3027 you out of the hand H4714 of the Egyptians H3027 , and out of the hand H6547 of Pharaoh H5337 , who hath delivered [H8689]   H5971 the people H3027 from under the hand H4714 of the Egyptians.
H3045 Now I know [H8804]   H3068 that the LORD H1419 is greater H430 than all gods H1697 : for in the thing H2102 wherein they dealt proudly [H8804]   he was above them.
H3503 And Jethro H4872 , Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H3947 , took [H8799]   H5930 a burnt offering H2077 and sacrifices H430 for God H175 : and Aaron H935 came [H8799]   H2205 , and all the elders H3478 of Israel H398 , to eat [H8800]   H3899 bread H4872 with Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H6440 before H430 God.
H4283 And it came to pass on the morrow H4872 , that Moses H3427 sat [H8799]   H8199 to judge [H8800]   H5971 the people H5971 : and the people H5975 stood [H8799]   H4872 by Moses H1242 from the morning H6153 unto the evening.
H4872 And when Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H7200 saw [H8799]   H6213 all that he did [H8802]   H5971 to the people H559 , he said [H8799]   H1697 , What is this thing H6213 that thou doest [H8802]   H5971 to the people H3427 ? why sittest [H8802]   H5971 thou thyself alone, and all the people H5324 stand [H8737]   H1242 by thee from morning H6153 unto even?
H4872 And Moses H559 said [H8799]   H2859 unto his father in law [H8802]   H5971 , Because the people H935 come [H8799]   H1875 unto me to enquire [H8800]   H430 of God:
H1697 When they have a matter H935 , they come [H8802]   H8199 unto me; and I judge [H8804]   H376 between one H7453 and another H3045 , and I do make them know [H8689]   H2706 the statutes H430 of God H8451 , and his laws.
H4872 And Moses H2859 ' father in law [H8802]   H559 said [H8799]   H1697 unto him, The thing H6213 that thou doest [H8802]   H2896 is not good.
H5034 Thou wilt surely [H8800]   H5034 wear away [H8799]   H5971 , both thou, and this people H1697 that is with thee: for this thing H3515 is too heavy H3201 for thee; thou art not able [H8799]   H6213 to perform [H8800]   it thyself alone.
H8085 Hearken [H8798]   H6963 now unto my voice H3289 , I will give thee counsel [H8799]   H430 , and God H1961 shall be [H8798]   H5971 with thee: Be thou for the people H4136 to God-ward H430   H935 , that thou mayest bring [H8689]   H1697 the causes H430 unto God:
H2094 And thou shalt teach [H8689]   H853   H2706 them ordinances H8451 and laws H3045 , and shalt shew [H8689]   H1870 them the way H3212 wherein they must walk [H8799]   H4639 , and the work H6213 that they must do [H8799]  .
H2372 Moreover thou shalt provide [H8799]   H5971 out of all the people H2428 able H582 men H3373 , such as fear H430 God H582 , men H571 of truth H8130 , hating [H8802]   H1215 covetousness H7760 ; and place [H8804]   H8269 such over them, to be rulers H505 of thousands H8269 , and rulers H3967 of hundreds H8269 , rulers H2572 of fifties H8269 , and rulers H6235 of tens:
H8199 And let them judge [H8804]   H5971 the people H6256 at all seasons H1419 : and it shall be, that every great H1697 matter H935 they shall bring [H8686]   H6996 unto thee, but every small H1697 matter H8199 they shall judge [H8799]   H7043 : so shall it be easier [H8685]   H5375 for thyself, and they shall bear [H8804]   the burden with thee.
H6213 If thou shalt do [H8799]   H1697 this thing H430 , and God H6680 command [H8765]   H3201 thee so, then thou shalt be able [H8804]   H5975 to endure [H8800]   H5971 , and all this people H935 shall also go [H8799]   H4725 to their place H7965 in peace.
H4872 So Moses H8085 hearkened [H8799]   H6963 to the voice H2859 of his father in law [H8802]   H6213 , and did [H8799]   H559 all that he had said [H8804]  .
H4872 And Moses H977 chose [H8799]   H2428 able H582 men H3478 out of all Israel H5414 , and made [H8799]   H7218 them heads H5971 over the people H8269 , rulers H505 of thousands H8269 , rulers H3967 of hundreds H8269 , rulers H2572 of fifties H8269 , and rulers H6235 of tens.
H8199 And they judged [H8804]   H5971 the people H6256 at all seasons H7186 : the hard H1697 causes H935 they brought [H8686]   H4872 unto Moses H6996 , but every small H1697 matter H1992   H8199 they judged [H8799]   themselves.
H4872 And Moses H2859 let his father in law [H8802]   H7971 depart [H8762]   H3212 ; and he went [H8799]   H776 his way into his own land.
KJV(i) 1 When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt; 2 Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back, 3 And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land: 4 And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh: 5 And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God: 6 And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her. 7 And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent. 8 And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them. 9 And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians. 10 And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. 11 Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them. 12 And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God. 13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. 14 And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to inquire of God: 16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said. 25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves. 27 And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.
