  2 H1111 And Balak H1121 the son H6834 of Zippor H7200 saw H3478 all that Israel H6213 had done H567 to the Amorites.
  3 H4124 And Moab H3966 was sore H1481 afraid H6440 of H5971 the people, H7227 because they were many: H4124 and Moab H6973 was distressed H6440 because of H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.
  4 H4124 And Moab H559 said H2205 unto the elders H4080 of Midian, H6951 Now will this multitude H3897 lick up H5439 all that is round about H7794 us, as the ox H3897 licketh up H3418 the grass H7704 of the field. H1111 And Balak H1121 the son H6834 of Zippor H4428 was king H4124 of Moab H6256 at that time.
  5 H7971 And he sent H4397 messengers H1109 unto Balaam H1121 the son H1160 of Beor, H6604 to Pethor, H5104 which is by the River, H776 to the land H1121 of the children H5971 of his people, H7121 to call H559 him, saying, H5971 Behold, there is a people H3318 come out H4714 from Egypt: H3680 behold, they cover H5869 the face H776 of the earth, H3427 and they abide H4136 over against me.
  6 H3212 Come H779 now therefore, I pray thee, curse H5971 me this people; H6099 for they are too mighty H3201 for me: peradventure I shall prevail, H5221 that we may smite H1644 them, and that I may drive them out H776 of the land; H3045 for I know H1288 that he whom thou blessest H1288 is blessed, H779 and he whom thou cursest H779 is cursed.
  7 H2205 And the elders H4124 of Moab H2205 and the elders H4080 of Midian H3212 departed H7081 with the rewards of divination H3027 in their hand; H935 and they came H1109 unto Balaam, H1696 and spake H1697 unto him the words H1111 of Balak.
  8 H559 And he said H3885 unto them, Lodge H3915 here this night, H7725 and I will bring H1697 you word H7725 again, H3068 as Jehovah H1696 shall speak H8269 unto me: and the princes H4124 of Moab H3427 abode H1109 with Balaam.
  9 H430 And God H935 came H1109 unto Balaam, H559 and said, H582 What men are these with thee?
  10 H1109 And Balaam H559 said H430 unto God, H1111 Balak H1121 the son H6834 of Zippor, H4428 king H4124 of Moab, H7971 hath sent unto me, saying,
  11 H5971 Behold, the people H3318 that is come out H4714 of Egypt, H3680 it covereth H5869 the face H776 of the earth: H3212 now, come H6895 curse H3201 me them; peradventure I shall be able H3898 to fight against H1644 them, and shall drive them out.
  12 H430 And God H559 said H1109 unto Balaam, H3212 Thou shalt not go H779 with them; thou shalt not curse H5971 the people; H1288 for they are blessed.
  13 H1109 And Balaam H6965 rose up H1242 in the morning, H559 and said H8269 unto the princes H1111 of Balak, H3212 Get H776 you into your land; H3068 for Jehovah H3985 refuseth H5414 to give me leave H1980 to go with you.
  14 H8269 And the princes H4124 of Moab H6965 rose up, H935 and they went H1111 unto Balak, H559 and said, H1109 Balaam H3985 refuseth H1980 to come with us.
  15 H1111 And Balak H7971 sent H3254 yet again H8269 princes, H7227 more, H3513 and more honorable than they.
  16 H935 And they came H1109 to Balaam, H559 and said H559 to him, Thus saith H1111 Balak H1121 the son H6834 of Zippor, H4513 Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder H1980 thee from coming unto me:
  17 H3513 for I will promote H3966 thee unto very H3513 great H3513 honor, H559 and whatsoever thou sayest H6213 unto me I will do: H3212 come H6895 therefore, I pray thee, curse H5971 me this people.
  18 H1109 And Balaam H6030 answered H559 and said H5650 unto the servants H1111 of Balak, H1111 If Balak H5414 would give H1004 me his house H4393 full H3701 of silver H2091 and gold, H3201 I cannot H5674 go beyond H6310 the word H3068 of Jehovah H430 my God, H6213 to do H6996 less H1419 or more.
  19 H3427 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry H3915 ye also here this night, H3045 that I may know H3068 what Jehovah H1696 will speak H3254 unto me more.
  20 H430 And God H935 came H1109 unto Balaam H3915 at night, H559 and said H582 unto him, If the men H935 are come H7121 to call H6965 thee, rise up, H3212 go H389 with them; but H1697 only the word H1696 which I speak H6213 unto thee, that shalt thou do.
  21 H1109 And Balaam H6965 rose up H1242 in the morning, H2280 and saddled H860 his ass, H3212 and went H8269 with the princes H4124 of Moab.
  22 H430 And God's H639 anger H2734 was kindled H1980 because he went; H4397 and the angel H3068 of Jehovah H3320 placed H1870 himself in the way H7854 for an adversary H7392 against him. Now he was riding H860 upon his ass, H8147 and his two H5288 servants were with him.
  23 H860 And the ass H7200 saw H4397 the angel H3068 of Jehovah H5324 standing H1870 in the way, H2719 with his sword H8025 drawn H3027 in his hand; H860 and the ass H5186 turned aside H1870 out of the way, H3212 and went H7704 into the field: H1109 and Balaam H5221 smote H860 the ass, H5186 to turn H1870 her into the way.
  24 H4397 Then the angel H3068 of Jehovah H5975 stood H4934 in a narrow path H3754 between the vineyards, H1447 a wall H1447 being on this side, and a wall on that side.
  25 H860 And the ass H7200 saw H4397 the angel H3068 of Jehovah, H3905 and she thrust H7023 herself unto the wall, H3905 and crushed H1109 Balaam's H7272 foot H7023 against the wall: H5221 and he smote H3254 her again.
  26 H4397 And the angel H3068 of Jehovah H5674 went H3254 further, H5975 and stood H6862 in a narrow H4725 place, H1870 where was no way H5186 to turn H3225 either to the right hand H8040 or to the left.
  27 H860 And the ass H7200 saw H4397 the angel H3068 of Jehovah, H7257 and she lay down H1109 under Balaam: H1109 and Balaam's H639 anger H2734 was kindled, H5221 and he smote H860 the ass H4731 with his staff.
  28 H3068 And Jehovah H6605 opened H6310 the mouth H860 of the ass, H559 and she said H1109 unto Balaam, H6213 What have I done H5221 unto thee, that thou hast smitten H7969 me these three H7272 times?
  29 H1109 And Balaam H559 said H860 unto the ass, H5953 Because thou hast mocked H3863 me, I would H3426 there were H2719 a sword H3027 in my hand, H2026 for now I had killed thee.
  30 H860 And the ass H559 said H1109 unto Balaam, H860 Am not I thine ass, H7392 upon which thou hast ridden H3117 all thy life long unto this day? H5532 was I ever H5532 wont H6213 to do so H559 unto thee? and he said, Nay.
  31 H3068 Then Jehovah H1540 opened H5869 the eyes H1109 of Balaam, H7200 and he saw H4397 the angel H3068 of Jehovah H5324 standing H1870 in the way, H2719 with his sword H8025 drawn H3027 in his hand; H6915 and he bowed H7812 his head, and fell H639 on his face.
  32 H4397 And the angel H3068 of Jehovah H559 said H5221 unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten H860 thine ass H7969 these three H7272 times? H3318 behold, I am come forth H7854 for an adversary, H1870 because thy way H3399 is perverse before me:
  33 H860 and the ass H7200 saw H5186 me, and turned H6440 aside before me H7969 these three H7272 times: H194 unless H5186 she had turned H6440 aside from me, H2026 surely now I had even slain H2421 thee, and saved her alive.
  34 H1109 And Balaam H559 said H4397 unto the angel H3068 of Jehovah, H2398 I have sinned; H3045 for I knew H5324 not that thou stoodest H1870 in the way H7125 against H7489 me: now therefore, if it displease thee, H7725 I will get me back again.
  35 H4397 And the angel H3068 of Jehovah H559 said H1109 unto Balaam, H3212 Go H582 with the men; H657 but only H1697 the word H1696 that I shall speak H1696 unto thee, that thou shalt speak. H1109 So Balaam H3212 went H8269 with the princes H1111 of Balak.
  36 H1111 And when Balak H8085 heard H1109 that Balaam H935 was come, H3318 he went out H7125 to meet H5892 him unto the City H4124 of Moab, H1366 which is on the border H769 of the Arnon, H7097 which is in the utmost H1366 part of the border.
  37 H1111 And Balak H559 said H1109 unto Balaam, H7971 Did I not earnestly H7971 send H7121 unto thee to call H1980 thee? wherefore camest H3201 thou not unto me? am I not able H552 indeed H3513 to promote thee to honor?
  38 H1109 And Balaam H559 said H1111 unto Balak, H935 Lo, I am come H3201 unto thee: have I now any power H3201 at all H1696 to speak H3972 anything? H1697 the word H430 that God H7760 putteth H6310 in my mouth, H1696 that shall I speak.
  39 H1109 And Balaam H3212 went H1111 with Balak, H935 and they came H2351 unto Kiriath-huzoth.
  40 H1111 And Balak H2076 sacrificed H1241 oxen H6629 and sheep, H7971 and sent H1109 to Balaam, H8269 and to the princes that were with him.
  41 H1242 And it came to pass in the morning, H1111 that Balak H3947 took H1109 Balaam, H5927 and brought him up H1116 into the high places H1120 of Baal; H7200 and he saw H7097 from thence the utmost H5971 part of the people.
