2 H7971 Send [H8798] H582 thou men H8446 , that they may search [H8799] H776 the land H3667 of Canaan H5414 , which I give [H8802] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H376 : of every H4294 tribe H1 of their fathers H7971 shall ye send [H8799] H259 a man H5387 , every one a ruler among them.

3 H4872 And Moses H6310 by the commandment H3068 of the LORD H7971 sent [H8799] H4057 them from the wilderness H6290 of Paran H582 : all those men H1992 were H7218 heads H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel.

4 H8034 And these were their names H4294 : of the tribe H7205 of Reuben H8051 , Shammua H1121 the son H2139 of Zaccur.

5 H4294 Of the tribe H8095 of Simeon H8202 , Shaphat H1121 the son H2753 of Hori.

6 H4294 Of the tribe H3063 of Judah H3612 , Caleb H1121 the son H3312 of Jephunneh.

7 H4294 Of the tribe H3485 of Issachar H3008 , Igal H1121 the son H3130 of Joseph.

8 H4294 Of the tribe H669 of Ephraim H1954 , Oshea H1121 the son H5126 of Nun.

9 H4294 Of the tribe H1144 of Benjamin H6406 , Palti H1121 the son H7505 of Raphu.

10 H4294 Of the tribe H2074 of Zebulun H1427 , Gaddiel H1121 the son H5476 of Sodi.

11 H4294 Of the tribe H3130 of Joseph H4294 , namely, of the tribe H4519 of Manasseh H1426 , Gaddi H1121 the son H5485 of Susi.

12 H4294 Of the tribe H1835 of Dan H5988 , Ammiel H1121 the son H1582 of Gemalli.

16 H8034 These are the names H582 of the men H4872 which Moses H7971 sent [H8804] H8446 to spy out [H8800] H776 the land H4872 . And Moses H7121 called [H8799] H1954 Oshea H1121 the son H5126 of Nun H3091 Jehoshua.

17 H4872 And Moses H7971 sent [H8799] H8446 them to spy out [H8800] H776 the land H3667 of Canaan H559 , and said [H8799] H5927 unto them, Get you up [H8798] H5045 this way southward H5927 , and go up [H8804] H2022 into the mountain:

18 H7200 And see [H8804] H776 the land H5971 , what it is; and the people H3427 that dwelleth [H8802] H2389 therein, whether they be strong H7504 or weak H4592 , few H7227 or many;

19 H776 And what the land H3427 is that they dwell in [H8802] H2896 , whether it be good H7451 or bad H5892 ; and what cities H3427 they be that they dwell [H8802] H2007 in H4264 , whether in tents H4013 , or in strong holds;

20 H776 And what the land H8082 is, whether it be fat H7330 or lean H3426 , whether there be H6086 wood H2388 therein, or not. And be ye of good courage [H8694] H3947 , and bring [H8804] H6529 of the fruit H776 of the land H3117 . Now the time H3117 was the time H1061 of the firstripe H6025 grapes.

21 H5927 So they went up [H8799] H8446 , and searched [H8799] H776 the land H4057 from the wilderness H6790 of Zin H7340 unto Rehob H935 , as men come [H8800] H2574 to Hamath.

22 H5927 And they ascended [H8799] H5045 by the south H935 , and came [H8799] H2275 unto Hebron H289 ; where Ahiman H8344 , Sheshai H8526 , and Talmai H3211 , the children H6061 of Anak H2275 , were . (Now Hebron H1129 was built [H8738] H7651 seven H8141 years H6440 before H6814 Zoan H4714 in Egypt.)

23 H935 And they came [H8799] H5158 unto the brook H812 of Eshcol H3772 , and cut down [H8799] H2156 from thence a branch H259 with one H811 cluster H6025 of grapes H5375 , and they bare [H8799] H8147 it between two H4132 upon a staff H7416 ; and they brought of the pomegranates H8384 , and of the figs.

24 H4725 The place H7121 was called [H8804] H5158 the brook H812 Eshcol H182 , because of H811 the cluster of grapes H1121 which the children H3478 of Israel H3772 cut down [H8804] from thence.

25 H7725 And they returned [H8799] H8446 from searching [H8800] H776 of the land H7093 after H705 forty H3117 days.

26 H3212 And they went [H8799] H935 and came [H8799] H4872 to Moses H175 , and to Aaron H5712 , and to all the congregation H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H4057 , unto the wilderness H6290 of Paran H6946 , to Kadesh H7725 ; and brought back [H8686] H1697 word H5712 unto them, and unto all the congregation H7200 , and shewed [H8686] H6529 them the fruit H776 of the land.

27 H5608 And they told [H8762] H559 him, and said [H8799] H935 , We came [H8804] H776 unto the land H7971 whither thou sentest [H8804] H2100 us, and surely it floweth [H8802] H2461 with milk H1706 and honey H6529 ; and this is the fruit of it.

28 H657 Nevertheless H5971 the people H5794 be strong H3427 that dwell [H8802] H776 in the land H5892 , and the cities H1219 are walled [H8803] H3966 , and very H1419 great H7200 : and moreover we saw [H8804] H3211 the children H6061 of Anak there.

29 H6002 The Amalekites H3427 dwell [H8802] H776 in the land H5045 of the south H2850 : and the Hittites H2983 , and the Jebusites H567 , and the Amorites H3427 , dwell [H8802] H2022 in the mountains H3669 : and the Canaanites H3427 dwell [H8802] H3220 by the sea H3027 , and by the coast H3383 of Jordan.

30 H3612 And Caleb H2013 stilled [H8686] H5971 the people H4872 before Moses H559 , and said [H8799] H5927 , Let us go up [H8799] H5927 at once [H8800] H3423 , and possess [H8804] H3201 it; for we are well able [H8799] H3201 to overcome [H8800] it.

31 H582 But the men H5927 that went up [H8804] H559 with him said [H8804] H3201 , We be not able [H8799] H5927 to go up [H8800] H5971 against the people H2389 ; for they are stronger than we.

32 H3318 And they brought up [H8686] H1681 an evil report H776 of the land H8446 which they had searched [H8804] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H559 , saying [H8800] H776 , The land H5674 , through which we have gone [H8804] H8446 to search [H8800] H776 it, is a land H398 that eateth up [H8802] H3427 the inhabitants [H8802] H5971 thereof; and all the people H7200 that we saw [H8804] H8432 in it H582 are men H4060 of a great stature.

33 H7200 And there we saw [H8804] H5303 the giants H1121 , the sons H6061 of Anak H5303 , which come of the giants H5869 : and we were in our own sight H2284 as grasshoppers H5869 , and so we were in their sight.

And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes. ²¹ So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. ²² And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were.
