Kings 3

KJV_Strongs(i)
H8010 And Solomon H2859 made affinity [H8691]   H6547 with Pharaoh H4428 king H4714 of Egypt H3947 , and took [H8799]   H6547 Pharaoh's H1323 daughter H935 , and brought [H8686]   H5892 her into the city H1732 of David H3615 , until he had made an end [H8763]   H1129 of building [H8800]   H1004 his own house H1004 , and the house H3068 of the LORD H2346 , and the wall H3389 of Jerusalem H5439 round about.
H5971 Only the people H2076 sacrificed [H8764]   H1116 in high places H1004 , because there was no house H1129 built [H8738]   H8034 unto the name H3068 of the LORD H3117 , until those days.
H8010 And Solomon H157 loved [H8799]   H3068 the LORD H3212 , walking [H8800]   H2708 in the statutes H1732 of David H1 his father H2076 : only he sacrificed [H8764]   H6999 and burnt incense [H8688]   H1116 in high places.
H4428 And the king H3212 went [H8799]   H1391 to Gibeon H2076 to sacrifice [H8800]   H1931 there; for that H1419 was the great H1116 high place H505 : a thousand H5930 burnt offerings H8010 did Solomon H5927 offer [H8686]   H4196 upon that altar.
H1391 In Gibeon H3068 the LORD H7200 appeared [H8738]   H8010 to Solomon H2472 in a dream H3915 by night H430 : and God H559 said [H8799]   H7592 , Ask [H8798]   H5414 what I shall give [H8799]   thee.
H8010 And Solomon H559 said [H8799]   H6213 , Thou hast shewed [H8804]   H5650 unto thy servant H1732 David H1 my father H1419 great H2617 mercy H1980 , according as he walked [H8804]   H6440 before H571 thee in truth H6666 , and in righteousness H3483 , and in uprightness H3824 of heart H8104 with thee; and thou hast kept [H8799]   H1419 for him this great H2617 kindness H5414 , that thou hast given [H8799]   H1121 him a son H3427 to sit [H8802]   H3678 on his throne H3117 , as it is this day.
H3068 And now, O LORD H430 my God H5650 , thou hast made thy servant H4427 king [H8689]   H1732 instead of David H1 my father H6996 : and I am but a little H5288 child H3045 : I know [H8799]   H3318 not how to go out [H8800]   H935 or come in [H8800]  .
H5650 And thy servant H8432 is in the midst H5971 of thy people H977 which thou hast chosen [H8804]   H7227 , a great H5971 people H4487 , that cannot be numbered [H8735]   H5608 nor counted [H8735]   H7230 for multitude.
H5414 Give [H8804]   H5650 therefore thy servant H8085 an understanding [H8802]   H3820 heart H8199 to judge [H8800]   H5971 thy people H995 , that I may discern [H8687]   H2896 between good H7451 and bad H3201 : for who is able [H8799]   H8199 to judge [H8800]   H3515 this thy so great H5971 a people?
H1697 And the speech H3190 pleased [H8799]   H5869   H136 the Lord H8010 , that Solomon H7592 had asked [H8804]   H1697 this thing.
H430 And God H559 said [H8799]   H7592 unto him, Because thou hast asked [H8804]   H1697 this thing H7592 , and hast not asked [H8804]   H7227 for thyself long H3117 life H7592 ; neither hast asked [H8804]   H6239 riches H7592 for thyself, nor hast asked [H8804]   H5315 the life H341 of thine enemies [H8802]   H7592 ; but hast asked [H8804]   H995 for thyself understanding [H8687]   H8085 to discern [H8800]   H4941 judgment;
H6213 Behold, I have done [H8804]   H1697 according to thy words H5414 : lo, I have given [H8804]   H2450 thee a wise H995 and an understanding [H8737]   H3820 heart H6440 ; so that there was none like thee before H310 thee, neither after H6965 thee shall any arise [H8799]   like unto thee.
H5414 And I have also given [H8804]   H7592 thee that which thou hast not asked [H8804]   H6239 , both riches H3519 , and honour H376 : so that there shall not be any H4428 among the kings H3117 like unto thee all thy days.
H3212 And if thou wilt walk [H8799]   H1870 in my ways H8104 , to keep [H8800]   H2706 my statutes H4687 and my commandments H1 , as thy father H1732 David H1980 did walk [H8804]   H748 , then I will lengthen [H8689]   H3117 thy days.
H8010 And Solomon H3364 awoke [H8799]   H2472 ; and, behold, it was a dream H935 . And he came [H8799]   H3389 to Jerusalem H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H6440 before H727 the ark H1285 of the covenant H3068 of the LORD H5927 , and offered up [H8686]   H5930 burnt offerings H6213 , and offered [H8799]   H8002 peace offerings H6213 , and made [H8799]   H4960 a feast H5650 to all his servants.
H935 Then came [H8799]   H8147 there two H802 women H2181 , that were harlots [H8802]   H4428 , unto the king H5975 , and stood [H8799]   H6440 before him.
H259 And the one H802 woman H559 said [H8799]   H994 , O H113 my lord H802 , I and this woman H3427 dwell [H8802]   H259 in one H1004 house H3205 ; and I was delivered of a child [H8799]   H1004 with her in the house.
H7992 And it came to pass the third H3117 day H3205 after that I was delivered [H8800]   H802 , that this woman H3205 was delivered [H8799]   H3162 also: and we were together H2114 ; there was no stranger [H8801]   H1004 with us in the house H2108 , save H8147 we two H1004 in the house.
H802 And this woman's H1121 child H4191 died [H8799]   H3915 in the night H7901 ; because she overlaid [H8804]   it.
H6965 And she arose [H8799]   H8432 at midnight H3915   H3947 , and took [H8799]   H1121 my son H681 from beside H519 me, while thine handmaid H3463 slept H7901 , and laid [H8686]   H2436 it in her bosom H7901 , and laid [H8689]   H4191 her dead [H8801]   H1121 child H2436 in my bosom.
H6965 And when I rose [H8799]   H1242 in the morning H1121 to give my child H3243 suck [H8687]   H4191 , behold, it was dead [H8804]   H995 : but when I had considered [H8709]   H1242 it in the morning H1121 , behold, it was not my son H3205 , which I did bear [H8804]  .
H312 And the other H802 woman H559 said [H8799]   H2416 , Nay; but the living H1121 is my son H4191 , and the dead [H8801]   H1121 is thy son H559 . And this said [H8802]   H4191 , No; but the dead [H8801]   H1121 is thy son H2416 , and the living H1121 is my son H1696 . Thus they spake [H8762]   H6440 before H4428 the king.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H4428 the king H2063 , The one H559 saith [H8802]   H1121 , This is my son H2416 that liveth H1121 , and thy son H4191 is the dead [H8801]   H2063 : and the other H559 saith [H8802]   H1121 , Nay; but thy son H4191 is the dead [H8801]   H1121 , and my son H2416 is the living.
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H3947 , Bring [H8798]   H2719 me a sword H935 . And they brought [H8686]   H2719 a sword H6440 before H4428 the king.
H4428 And the king H559 said [H8799]   H1504 , Divide [H8798]   H2416 the living H3206 child H8147 in two H5414 , and give [H8798]   H2677 half H259 to the one H2677 , and half H259 to the other.
H559 Then spake [H8799]   H802 the woman H2416 whose the living H1121 child H4428 was unto the king H7356 , for her bowels H3648 yearned [H8738]   H1121 upon her son H559 , and she said [H8799]   H994 , O H113 my lord H5414 , give [H8798]   H2416 her the living H3205 child [H8803]   H4191 , and in no wise [H8687]   H4191 slay [H8686]   H559 it. But the other said [H8802]   H1504 , Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide [H8798]   it .
H4428 Then the king H6030 answered [H8799]   H559 and said [H8799]   H5414 , Give [H8798]   H2416 her the living H3205 child [H8803]   H4191 , and in no wise [H8687]   H4191 slay [H8686]   H517 it: she is the mother thereof.
H3478 And all Israel H8085 heard [H8799]   H4941 of the judgment H4428 which the king H8199 had judged [H8804]   H3372 ; and they feared [H8799]   H6440 the king H7200 : for they saw [H8804]   H2451 that the wisdom H430 of God H7130 was in him H6213 , to do [H8800]   H4941 judgment.
KJV(i) 1 And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. 2 Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days. 3 And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. 4 And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. 5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast showed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 10 And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honor: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. 15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants. 16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him. 17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. 18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. 19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it. 20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. 21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear. 22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king. 23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living. 24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. 26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. 27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof. 28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
