Wycliffe(i) 1 Loue thou not gelousli the womman of thi bosum; lest sche schewe on thee the malice of yuel doctryn. 2 Yyue thou not to a womman the power of thi soule; lest sche entre in thi vertu, and thou be schent. 3 Biholde thou not a womman of many willis; lest perauenture thou falle in to the snaris of hir. 4 Be thou not customable with a daunseresse, nethir here thou hir; lest perauenture thou perische in the spedi werk of hir. 5 Biholde thou not a virgyn; lest perauenture thou be sclaundrid in the feirnesse of hir. 6 Yyue not thi soule to hooris in ony thing; lest thou leese thee, and thi soule, and thin eritage. 7 Nyle thou biholde aboute in the lanys of the cytee; nethir erre thou in the large streetis therof. 8 Turne awei thi face fro a womman `wel arayed; and biholde thou not aboute the fairnesse of othere. 9 Many men han perischid for the fairnesse of a womman; and `herbi couetise brenneth `an hiy as fier. 10 Ech womman which is an hoore, ethir customable to fornycacioun, schal be defoulid as a fen in the weie. 11 Many men wondrynge on the fairnesse of an alien womman weren maad repreuable, for whi the speche of hir brenneth an hiy as fier. 12 Sitte thou not in ony maner with an alien womman, nether reste thou with hir on a bed; 13 and iangle thou not with hir in wyn, lest perauenture thin herte boowe in to hir, and thou falle in to perdicioun bi thi blood. 14 Forsake thou not an eld frend; for a newe frend schal not be lijk hym. 15 Newe wijn is a newe frend; it schal wexe eld, and thou schalt drinke it with swetnesse. 16 Coueyte thou not the glorie and richessis of a synnere; for thou noost, what distriyng of hym schal come. 17 The wrong of vniust men plese not thee, and wite thou that a wickid man schal not plese til to hellis. 18 Be thou fer fro a man that hath power to sle, and thou schalt not haue suspicioun of the drede of deth; 19 and if thou neiyest to hym, nyle thou do ony trespasse, lest perauenture he take awei thi lijf. 20 Knowe thou the comynyng of deth; for thou schalt entre in to the myddis of snaris, and thou schalt go on the armuris of hem that sorewen. 21 Bi thi vertu kepe thee fro thi neiybore; and trete thou with wise men and prudent men. 22 Just men be gestis, ethir mete feris, to thee; and gloriyng be `to thee in the dreed of God. 23 And the thouyt of God be to thee in wit; and al thi tellynge be in the heestis of the hiyeste. 24 Werkis schulen be preisid in the hond of crafti men, and the prince of the puple in the wisdom of his word; forsothe in the wit of eldere men a word. 25 A man, a ianglere, is dredeful in his citee; and a fool hardi man in his word schal be hateful.
Geneva(i) 1 Be not ielous ouer thy wife of thy bosome, neyther teach her by thy meanes an euill lesson. 2 Giue not thy life vnto a woman, lest shee ouercome thy strength, & so thou be cofounded. 3 Meete not an harlot, least thou fall into her snares. 4 Vse not the companie of a woman that is a singer, and a dancer, neither heare her, least thou be taken by her craftines. 5 Gaze not on a mayde, that thou fal not by that that is precious in her. 6 Cast not thy minde vpon harlots in any maner of thing, least thou destroy both thy selfe and thine heritage. 7 Goe not about gazing in the streetes of the citie, neyther wander thou in the secrete places thereof. 8 Turne away thine eye from a beautiful woman, and looke not vpon others beautie: for many haue perished by the beautie of women: for through it loue is kindled as a fire. 9 Euery woman that is an harlot, shalbe troden vnder foote as dongue, of euery one that goeth by the way. 10 Many wondering at the beautie of a strange woman, haue bene cast out: for her wordes burne as a fire. 11 Sit not at all with another mans wife, neyther lye with her vpon the bed, nor banket with her, lest thine heart incline vnto her, & so through thy desire fall into destruction. 12 Forsake not an olde friende: for the newe shal not be like him: a newe friend is as newe wine: when it is olde, thou shalt drinke it with pleasure. 13 Desire not the honour and riches of a sinner: for thou knowest not what shalbe his ende. 14 Delite not in the thing that ye vngodly haue pleasure in, but remember that they shall not bee found iust vnto their graue. 15 Keepe thee from the man that hath power to slay: so shalt thou not doubt the feare of death: and if thou come vnto him, make no fault, least he take away thy life: remember that thou goest in the middes of snares, and that thou walkest vpon the towres of the citie. 16 Trye thy neighbour as neere as thou canst, and aske counsell of the wise. 17 Let thy talke be with the wise, and all thy communication in the Lawe of the most High. 18 Let iust men eate & drinke with thee, & let thy reioycing be in the feare of the Lord. 19 In the handes of the crafcesmen shall the workes be commended, and the wise prince of the people by his worde, and the worde by the wisedome of the Elders. 20 A man ful of words is dangerous in his citie, and he that is rash in his talking, shalbe hated.
Bishops(i) 1 Be not ielous ouer the wife of thy bosome, that she shew not some shrewd poynt, lest thou teache her an euil lesson against thy selfe. 2 Geue not the power of thy lyfe vnto a woman, lest she come in thy strength, and so thou be confounded. 3 Loke not vpon a woman that is desyrous of many men, lest thou fall into her snares. 4 Use not the companie of a woman that is a player & a dauncer, & heare her not, lest thou perishe thorow her entising. 5 Behold not a mayden, that thou be not hurt in her beautie. 6 Cast not thy minde vpon harlots in any maner of thing, lest thou destroy both thy selfe and thyne heritage. 7 Go not about gasing in euery lane of the citie, neither wander thou abrode in the streetes therof. 8 Turne away thy face from a beautifull woman, and loke not vpon the fayrnesse of other: Many a man hath ben deceaued thorowe the beautie of women, for thorow it the desire is kindled as it were a fire. 9 An adulterous woman shalbe troden vnder foote as myre, of euery one that goeth by the way. 10 Many a man wondering at the beautie of a straunge woman, hath ben cast out: for her wordes kyndle as a fyre. 11 Sit not with an other mans wife by any meanes, lye not with her vpon the bed, make no wordes with her at the wine: lest thyne heart consent vnto her, and so thou with thy blood fall into destruction. 12 Forsake not an olde friende, for the new shall not be lyke him: A newe friende is newe wine, let hym be olde and thou shalt drinke hym with pleasure. 13 Desire not the honour and riches of a sinner: for thou knowest not what destruction is for to come vpon hym. 14 Delyte not thou in the thing that the vngodly haue pleasure in, beyng sure that the vngodly shall not be accepted vntill their graue. 15 Kepe thee from the man that hath power to slay, so needest thou not to be afrayde of death: And yf thou commest vnto hym, make no fault, lest he happen to take away thy lyfe: Remember that thou goest in the middest of snares, and vpon the bulworkes of thy citie. 16 Beware of thy neyghbour as nye as thou canst, and meddle with such as be wyse and haue vnderstanding. 17 Let iust men be thy gestes, let thy mirth be in the feare of God. 18 Let the remembraunce of God be in thy mynde, and let all thy talking be in the commaundementes of the hyghest. 19 In the handes of craftes men shall the workes be commaunded: so shall the princes of the people in the wysdome of their talking. 20 A man full of wordes is perilous in his citie: and he that is rashe in his talking, shalbe abhorred.
DouayRheims(i) 1 BE not jealous over the wife of thy bosom, lest she shew in thy regard the malice of a wicked lesson. 2 Give not the power of thy soul to a woman, lest she enter upon thy strength, and thou be confounded. 3 Look not upon a woman that hath a mind for many: lest thou fall into her snares. 4 Use not much the company of her that is a dancer, and hearken not to her, lest thou perish by the force of her charms. 5 Gaze not upon a maiden, lest her beauty be a stumblingblock to thee. 6 Give not thy soul to harlots in any point: lest thou destroy thyself and thy inheritance. 7 Look not round about thee in the of the city, nor wander up and down in the streets thereof. 8 Turn away thy face from a woman dressed up, and gaze not about upon another's beauty. 9 For many have perished by the beauty of a woman, and hereby lust is enkindled as a fire. 10 Every woman that is a harlot, shall be trodden upon as dung in the way. 11 Many by admiring the beauty of another man's wife, have become reprobate, for her conversation burneth as fire. 12 Sit not at all with another man's wife, nor repose upon the bed with her: 13 And strive not with her over wine, lest thy heart decline towards her, and by thy blood thou fall into destruction. 14 Forsake not an old friend, for the new will not be like to him. 15 A new friend is as new wine: it shall grow old, and thou shalt drink it with pleasure. 16 Envy not the glory and riches of a sinner: for thou knowest not what his ruin shall be. 17 Be not pleased with the wrong done by the unjust, knowing that even to hell the wicked shall not please. 18 Keep thee far from the man that hath power to kill, so thou shalt not suspect the fear of death. 19 And if thou come to him, commit no fault, lest he take away thy life. 20 Know it to be a communication with death: for thou art going in the midst of snares, and walking upon the arms of them that are grieved: 21 According to thy power beware of thy neighbor, and treat with the wise and prudent. 22 Let just men be thy guests, and let thy glory be in the fear of God. 23 And let the thought of God be in thy mind, and all thy discourse on the commandments of the Highest. 24 Works shall be praised for the hand of the artificers, and the prince of the people for the wisdom of his speech, but word of the ancients for the sense. 25 A man full of tongue is terrible in his city, and he that is rash in his word shall be hateful.
KJV(i) 1 Be not jealous over the wife of thy bosom, and teach her not an evil lesson against thyself. 2 Give not thy soul unto a woman to set her foot upon thy substance. 3 Meet not with an harlot, lest thou fall into her snares. 4 Use not much the company of a woman that is a singer, lest thou be taken with her attempts. 5 Gaze not on a maid, that thou fall not by those things that are precious in her. 6 Give not thy soul unto harlots, that thou lose not thine inheritance. 7 Look not round about thee in the streets of the city, neither wander thou in the solitary place thereof. 8 Turn away thine eye from a beautiful woman, and look not upon another's beauty; for many have been deceived by the beauty of a woman; for herewith love is kindled as a fire. 9 Sit not at all with another man's wife, nor sit down with her in thine arms, and spend not thy money with her at the wine; lest thine heart incline unto her, and so through thy desire thou fall into destruction. 10 Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him: a new friend is as new wine; when it is old, thou shalt drink it with pleasure. 11 Envy not the glory of a sinner: for thou knowest not what shall be his end. 12 Delight not in the thing that the ungodly have pleasure in; but remember they shall not go unpunished unto their grave. 13 Keep thee far from the man that hath power to kill; so shalt thou not doubt the fear of death: and if thou come unto him, make no fault, lest he take away thy life presently: remember that thou goest in the midst of snares, and that thou walkest upon the battlements of the city. 14 As near as thou canst, guess at thy neighbour, and consult with the wise. 15 Let thy talk be with the wise, and all thy communication in the law of the most High. 16 And let just men eat and drink with thee; and let thy glorying be in the fear of the Lord. 17 For the hand of the artificer the work shall be commended: and the wise ruler of the people for his speech. 18 A man of an ill tongue is dangerous in his city; and he that is rash in his talk shall be hated.

ERV(i) 1 Be not jealous over the wife of thy bosom, And teach her not an evil lesson against thyself. 2 Give not thy soul unto a woman, That she should set her foot upon thy strength. 3 Go not to meet a woman that playeth the harlot, Lest haply thou fall into her snares. 4 Use not the company of a woman that is a singer, Lest haply thou be caught by her attempts. 5 Gaze not on a maid, lest haply thou be trapped in her penalties. 6 Give not thy soul unto harlots, That thou lose not thine inheritance. 7 Look not round about thee in the streets of the city, Neither wander thou in the solitary places thereof. 8 Turn away thine eye from a comely woman, And gaze not on another’s beauty: By the beauty of a woman many have been led astray; And herewith love is kindled as a fire. 9 Sit not at all with a woman that hath a husband; And revel not with her at the wine; Lest haply thy soul turn aside unto her, And with thy spirit thou slide into destruction. 10 Forsake not an old friend; For the new is not comparable to him: [As] new wine, [so] is a new friend; If it become old, thou shalt drink it with gladness. 11 Envy not the glory of a sinner; For thou knowest not what shall be his overthrow. 12 Delight not in the delights of the ungodly: Remember they shall not go unpunished unto the grave. 13 Keep thee far from the man that hath power to kill, And thou shalt have no suspicion of the fear of death: And if thou come unto him, commit no fault, Lest he take away thy life: Know surely that thou goest about in the midst of snares, And walkest upon the battlements of a city. 14 As well as thou canst, guess at thy neighbours; And take counsel with the wise. 15 Let thy converse be with men of understanding; And let all thy discourse be in the law of the Most High. 16 Let just men be the companions of thy board; And let thy glorying be in the fear of the Lord. 17 For the hand of the artificers a work shall be commended: And he that ruleth the people [shall be counted] wise for his speech. 18 A man full of tongue is dangerous in his city; And he that is headlong in his speech shall be hated.
WEB(i) 1 Don’t be jealous over the wife of your bosom, and don’t teach her an evil lesson against yourself. 2 Don’t give your soul to a woman, that she should set her foot upon your strength. 3 Don’t go to meet a woman who plays the prostitute, lest perhaps you fall into her snares. 4 Don’t use the company of a woman who is a singer, lest perhaps you be caught by her attempts. 5 Don’t gaze at a maid, lest perhaps you be trapped in her penalties. 6 Don’t give your soul to prostitutes, that you not lose your inheritance. 7 Don’t look around you in the streets of the city, neither wander in its solitary places. 8 Turn your eye away from a beautiful woman, and don’t gaze at another’s beauty. Many have been led astray by the beauty of a woman; and with this, affection is kindled as a fire. 9 Don’t sit at all with a woman who has a husband, or revel with her at the wine, lest perhaps your soul turn away to her, and with your spirit you slide into destruction. 10 Don’t forsake an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him. A new friend is like new wine: if it becomes old, you will drink it with gladness. 11 Don’t envy the glory of a sinner; for you don’t know what his overthrow will be. 12 Don’t delight in the delights of the ungodly. Remember they will not go unpunished to the grave. 13 Keep yourself far from the man who has power to kill, and you will have no suspicion of the fear of death. If you come to him, commit no fault, lest he take away your life. Know surely that you go about in the midst of snares, and walk upon the battlements of a city. 14 As well as you can, aim to know your neighbors, and take counsel with the wise. 15 Let your conversation be with men of understanding. Let all your discourse be in the law of the Most High. 16 Let just men be companions at your table. Let your glorying be in the fear of the Lord. 17 A work is commended because of the hand of the artisan; so he who rules the people will be considered wise for his speech. 18 A talkative man is dangerous in his city. He who is headlong in his speech will be hated.
LXX2012(i) 1 Be not jealous over the wife of your bosom, and teach her not an evil lesson against yourself. 2 Give not your soul to a woman to set her foot upon your substance. 3 Meet not with an harlot, lest you fall into her snares. 4 Use not much the company of a woman that is a singer, lest you be taken with her attempts. 5 Gaze not on a maid, that you fall not by those things that are precious in her. 6 Give not your soul to harlots, that you lose not your inheritance. 7 Look not round about you in the streets of the city, neither wander you in the solitary place thereof. 8 Turn away your eye from a beautiful woman, and look not upon another's beauty; for many have been deceived by the beauty of a woman; for herewith love is kindled as a fire. 9 Sit not at all with another man's wife, nor sit down with her in your arms, and spend not your money with her at the wine; lest your heart incline to her, and so through your desire you fall into destruction. 10 Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him: a new friend is as new wine; when it is old, you shall drink it with pleasure. 11 Envy not the glory of a sinner: for you know not what shall be his end. 12 Delight not in the thing that the ungodly have pleasure in; but remember they shall not go unpunished to their grave. 13 Keep you far from the man that has power to kill; so shall you not doubt the fear of death: and if you come to him, make no fault, lest he take away your life presently: remember that you go in the midst of snares, and that you walk upon the battlements of the city. 14 As near as you can, guess at your neighbor, and consult with the wise. 15 Let your talk be with the wise, and all your communication in the law of the most High. 16 And let just men eat and drink with you; and let your glorying be in the fear of the Lord. 17 For the hand of the artificer the work shall be commended: and the wise ruler of the people for his speech. 18 A man of an ill tongue is dangerous in his city; and he that is rash in his talk shall be hated.
