DouayRheims(i) 4 And the Chaldeans answered the king in Syriac: O king, live for ever: tell to thy servants thy dream, and we will declare the interpretation thereof. 5 And the king, answering, said to the Chaldeans: The thing is gone out of my mind: unless you tell me the dream, and the meaning thereof, you shall be put to death, and your houses shall be confiscated. 6 but if you tell the dream, and the meaning of it, you shall receive of me rewards, and gifts, and great honour: therefore, tell me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. 7 They answered again and said: Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation of it. 8 The king answered and said: I know for certain, that you seek to gain time, since you know that the thing is gone from me. 9 If, therefore, you tell me not the dream, there is one sentence concerning you, that you have also framed a lying interpretation, and full of deceit, to speak before me till the time pass away. Tell me, therefore, the dream, that I may know that you also give a true interpretation thereof. 10 Then the Chaldeans answered before the king, and said: There is no man upon earth, that can accomplish thy word, O king; neither doth any king, though great and mighty, ask such a thing of any diviner, or wise man, or Chaldean. 11 For the thing that thou asketh, O king, is difficult: nor can any one be found that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose conversation is not with men.

Thomson(i) 4 Whereupon the Chaldees said to the king in Syriac, king, live forever. Tell thy servants the dream and we will explain the meaning. 5 The king answered the Chaldees, The subject is gone from me. At all events, tell me the dream and the meaning of it. 7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream and we will explain the meaning. 8 In reply to which the king said, I know of a truth that you want to gain time, as you see the matter is gone from me. 9 If therefore you do not tell me the dream, I take it for granted that you have agreed upon something false and fictitious to be said before me, until the time elapse. Tell me my dream, then I will know that you can tell me the meaning of it. 10 The Chaldees answered in the presence of the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can make known what the king requireth; nor doth any king or ruler, however great, ask such a thing, of any soothsayer, magian or Chaldee. 11 For the thing which the king requireth is so difficult, that there is none who can lay it before the king, but the gods only, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

6 H2006 But if H2324 [H8681] ye shall show H2493 the dream H6591 , and the interpretation H6902 [H8741] of it, ye shall receive H4481 of H6925 me H4978 gifts H5023 and rewards H7690 and great H3367 honour H3861 : therefore H2324 [H8680] show H2493 me the dream H6591 , and the interpretation of it.
  7 H6032 [H8754] They answered H8579 again H560 [H8750] and said H4430 , Let the king H560 [H8748] tell H5649 his servants H2493 the dream H2324 [H8681] , and we will show H6591 the interpretation of it.
  8 H4430 The king H6032 [H8750] answered H560 [H8750] and said H576 , I H3046 [H8751] know H4481 of H3330 certainty H608 that ye H2084 [H8750] would gain H5732 the time H6903 H3606 , because H2370 [H8754] ye see H4406 the thing H230 [H8754] is gone H4481 from me.
  9 H2006 But if H3809 ye will not H3046 [H8681] make known H2493 to me the dream H1932 H2298 , there is but one H1882 decree H2164 [H8724] for you: for ye have prepared H3538 lying H7844 [H8752] and corrupt H4406 words H560 [H8749] to speak H6925 before H5705 me, till H5732 the time H8133 [H8721] be changed H3861 : therefore H560 [H8747] tell H2493 me the dream H3046 [H8748] , and I shall know H1768 that H2324 [H8681] ye can show H6591 me the interpretation of it.
  10 H3779 The Chaldeans H6032 [H8754] answered H6925 before H4430 the king H560 [H8750] , and said H383 , There is H3809 not H606 a man H5922 upon H3007 the earth H3202 [H8748] that can H2324 [H8682] reveal H4430 the king's H4406 matter H6903 H1768 : therefore H3809 there is no H4430 king H7229 , lord H7990 , nor ruler H7593 [H8754] , that hath asked H1836 such H4406 things H3606 of any H2749 magician H826 , or astrologer H3779 , or Chaldean.
  11 H3358 And it is a rare H4406 thing H4430 that the king H7593 [H8751] requireth H383 , and there is H3809 no H321 other H2324 [H8741] that can reveal H6925 it before H4430 the king H3861 , except H426 the gods H4070 , whose dwelling H383 is H3809 not H5974 with H1321 flesh.
Brenton(i) 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in the Syrian language, saying, O king, live for ever: do thou tell the dream to thy servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 5 The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing has departed from me: if ye do not make known to me the dream and the interpretation, ye shall be destroyed, and your houses shall be spoiled. 6 But if ye make known to me the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and presents and much honour: only tell me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. 7 They answered the second time, and said, Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 8 And the king answered and said, I verily know that ye are trying to gain time, because ye see that the thing has gone from me. 9 If then ye do not tell me the dream, I know that ye have concerted to utter before me a false and corrupt tale, until the time shall have past: tell me my dream, and I shall know that ye will also declare to me the interpretation thereof. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is no man upon the earth, who shall be able to make known the king's matter: forasmuch as no great king or ruler asks such a question of an enchanter, magician, or Chaldean. 11 For the question which the king asks is difficult, and there is no one else who shall answer it before the king, but the gods, whose dwelling is not with any flesh.

Leeser(i) 4 Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in Aramic, O king, live for ever: recite the dream to thy servants, and we will tell the interpretation. 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The decree is firmly resolved on by me: If ye do not make known unto me the dream with its interpretation, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be changed into a dunghill. 6 But if ye tell the dream and its interpretation, then shall ye receive gifts and rewards and great honor from me. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation. 7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king recite the dream to his servants, and we will tell its interpretation. 8 The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye wish to gain time, because ye see the decree is firmly resolved on by me: 9 That if ye do not make known unto me the dream, there is but one sentence for you; for ye have prepared lying and deceptive words to speak before me, till the time be changed. Therefore relate to me the dream, and I shall know that ye can tell me its interpretation. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the habitable earth that can tell the king’s matter: wherefore no mighty and powerful king ever hath asked such a thing of any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. 11 And the matter which the king requireth is difficult, and there is no other that can tell it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
YLT(i) 4 And the Chaldeans speak to the king in Aramaean, `O king, to the ages live, tell the dream to thy servants, and the interpretation we do shew.' 5 The king hath answered and said to the Chaldeans, `The thing from me is gone; if ye do not cause me to know the dream and its interpretation, pieces ye are made, and your houses are made dunghills; 6 and if the dream and its interpretation ye do shew, gifts, and fee, and great glory ye receive from before me, therefore the dream and its interpretation shew ye me.' 7 They have answered a second time, and are saying, `Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and the interpretation we do shew. 8 The king hath answered and said, `Of a truth I know that time ye are gaining, because that ye have seen that the thing is gone from me, 9 so that, if the dream ye do not cause me to know—one is your sentence, seeing a word lying and corrupt ye have prepared to speak before me, till that the time is changed, therefore the dream tell ye to me, then do I know that its interpretation ye do shew me.' 10 The Chaldeans have answered before the king, and are saying, `There is not a man on the earth who is able to shew the king's matter; therefore, no king, chief, and ruler, hath asked such a thing as this of any scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean; 11 and the thing that the king is asking is precious, and others are there not that do shew it before the king, save the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.'
JuliaSmith(i) 4 And the Ohaldeans will speak to the king Syriac: O king, live forever: say to thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The word went out from me: if ye will not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, ye shall be made pieces, and your houses shall be set dung-hills. 6 And if ye shall show the dream and its interpretation, ye shall receive from before me a gift and present, and great honor: therefore shove me the dream and its interpretation. 7 They answered a second time, and said, The king will say to his servants the dream, and we will show its interpretation. 8 And the king answered and said, Certainly I know that ye buy the time, for which cause that ye saw that the word went out from me. 9 Enough if ye will not make known to me the dream, this one edict for you; and ye divided out the word of falsehood and this corruption to say before me, till that the time shall change: therefore say to me the dream and I shall know that ye will show me its interpretation. 10 The Chaldean answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the dry land that shall be able to show the king's word: for which cause that every king, leader, and ruler, asked not a word like this to any sacred scribe, and enchanter, and Chaldean. 11 And the word the king asked will be made rare, and there is not another that will show it before the king except the gods that their dwelling is not with flesh.

JPS_ASV_Byz(i) 4 Then spoke the Chaldeans to the king in Aramaic: 'O king, live for ever! tell thy servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation.' 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans: 'The thing is certain with me; if ye make not known unto me the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. 6 But if ye declare the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour; only declare unto me the dream and the interpretation thereof.' 7 They answered the second time and said: 'Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will declare the interpretation.' 8 The king answered and said: 'I know of a truth that ye would gain time, inasmuch as ye see the thing is certain with me, 9 that, if ye make not known unto me the dream, there is but one law for you; and ye have agreed together to speak before me lying and corrupt words, till the time be changed; only tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can declare unto me the interpretation thereof.' 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said: 'There is not a man upon the earth that can declare the king's matter; forasmuch as no great and powerful king hath asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean. 11 And it is a hard thing that the king asketh, and there is none other that can declare it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.'
Rotherham(i) 4 Then spake the Chaldeans to the king, in Aramaic,––O king, to the ages, live! Tell the dream to thy servants, and, the interpretation, we will declare. 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The word from me, is unalterable: If ye shall not make known to me the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and, your houses, into a dunghill, shall be turned; 6 but, if, the dream and the interpretation thereof, ye will declare, gifts and a present and great dignity, shall ye receive from before me,––therefore, the dream and the interpretation thereof, declare ye unto me. 7 They answered again and said,––Let, the king, tell, the dream, to his servants, and, the interpretation thereof, we will declare. 8 The king answered and said, Of a certainty, I know, that, time, ye, would gain,––merely because ye see that, unalterable, from me, is the word: 9 That, if, the dream, ye shall not make known to me, one and the same, is the decree, and, a lying and wicked word, have ye agreed to speak before me, that meanwhile the time may be changed,––therefore, the dream, tell ye me, so shall I know that, the interpretation thereof, ye can declare for me. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king and said, There is not a man upon the earth, who can declare, the matter of the king,––although indeed, there is no king, chief ruler who, a thing like this, hath asked of any sacred scribe or magician or Chaldean; 11 and, the thing which the king hath asked, is difficult, and, none other, is there, who can declare it before the king,––saving the gods whose dwelling is, not with flesh.
CLV(i) 4 Speaking are the Chaldeans to the king in Syriac, "O king, live for the eon! State the dream to your servants, and we will disclose the interpretation." 5 Answering is the king and saying to the Chaldeans, "The matter is departing from me. Should you not be making known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be dismembered, and the confiscation of your houses shall be promulgated." 6 Should you disclose the dream and its interpretation to me, gifts and a reward and great esteem shall you receive before me. Only disclose the dream and its interpretation." 7 They answer a second time and are saying, "The king will state the dream to his servants, then the interpretation will we disclose." 8 Answering is the king and saying, "I know for certain that you would gain time, forasmuch as you perceive that the matter is departing from me." 9 For, should you not be making the dream known to me, there is but one edict for you, as you will concoct a lying and corrupt matter to say before me, till the times are altering. Only the dream state to me, and I shall know that its interpretation you will disclose to me." 10 Answering are the Chaldeans before the king and saying, "Actually no mortal on earth can disclose the king's matter, forasmuch as any other king, grandee, or authority does not ask a matter such as this of any sacred scribe, or magus or Chaldean." 11 The matter that the king is asking is heavy and extraordinary. Actually no other will disclose it before the king, only the elohim whose abode actually is not with any flesh."
BBE(i) 4 Then the Chaldaeans said to the king in the Aramaean language, O King, have life for ever: give your servants an account of your dream, and we will make clear to you the sense of it. 5 The king made answer and said to the Chaldaeans, This is my decision: if you do not make clear to me the dream and the sense of it, you will be cut in bits and your houses made waste. 6 But if you make clear the dream and the sense of it, you will have from me offerings and rewards and great honour: so make clear to me the dream and the sense of it. 7 A second time they said in answer, Let the king give his servants an account of his dream, and we will make clear the sense. 8 The king made answer and said, I am certain that you are attempting to get more time, because you see that my decision is fixed; 9 That if you do not make my dream clear to me there is only one fate for you: for you have made ready false and evil words to say before me till the times are changed: so give me an account of the dream, and I will be certain that you are able to make the sense of it clear. 10 Then the Chaldaeans said to the king in answer, There is not a man on earth able to make clear the king's business; for no king, however great his power, has ever made such a request to any wonder-worker or user of secret arts or Chaldaean. 11 The king's request is a very hard one, and there is no other who is able to make it clear to the king, but the gods, whose living-place is not with flesh.
MKJV(i) 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, O king, live forever. Tell your servants the dream, and we will reveal the meaning. 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing has gone from me. If you will not make known to me the dream, with its meaning, you will be made into mere members, and your houses shall be made an outhouse. 6 But if you make known the dream and its meaning, you shall receive gifts and a present and great honor from me. Therefore reveal to me the dream and its meaning. 7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will reveal its meaning. 8 The king answered and said, For I know that you surely want to gain time, because you see the thing is gone from me. 9 But if you will not make the dream known to me, there is only one judgment for you. For you have prepared lying and deceiving words to speak before me, until the time has changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can reveal to me its meaning. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can reveal the king's matter, because not any king, lord, nor ruler has asked such a thing from any horoscopist or conjurer or Chaldean. 11 And it is a rare thing that the king asks, and there is no other who can reveal it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
LITV(i) 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic: O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will reveal the meaning. 5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The word is certainly gone from me. If you will not make known the dream and its meaning to me, you will be made into mere members, and your houses shall be made an outhouse. 6 But if you make known the dream, you shall receive gifts and a present and great honor from before me. Therefore, reveal the dream and its meaning to me. 7 They again replied and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will reveal its meaning. 8 The king answered and said, For I know that you buy time, that on account of all, you see the thing is certainly gone from me. 9 But if you will not make the dream known to me, there is one law for you. For you have agreed upon lying and deceiving words to speak before me until the time has changed. Therefore, tell me the dream, then I shall know that you can reveal the meaning to me. 10 The Chaldeans replied before the king and said, There is not a man on the earth who can reveal the king's matter, because not any king, lord, or ruler has asked such a thing from any horoscopist, or conjurer, or Chaldean. 11 And the thing that the king asks is rare. And there is no other who may reveal it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
ECB(i) 4 And the Kesediym word to the sovereign in Aramaic, O sovereign, live eternally: say the dream to your servants and we show the interpretation. 5 The sovereign answers and says to the Kesediym, The utterance is gone from me: if you make not known to me the dream with the interpretation, they serve you in pieces, and set your houses a cesspool: 6 and if you show the dream and the interpretation, you take from in front of me gifts and largess and great esteem: so show me the dream and the interpretation. 7 They answer secondly and say, May the sovereign say the dream to his servants and we show the interpretation thereof. 8 The sovereign answers and says, I know for certain that you are gaining time, because you see the utterance is gone from me: 9 and if you not make known to me the dream - one decree for you: for you prepare false and ruinous utterances to say in front of me, until the change of time: so say to me the dream, so that I know you show me the interpretation. 10 The Kesediym answer in front of the sovereign, and say, There is not a man on the dry who can show the utterance of the sovereign: because no sovereign, great, or dominator, asks utterances as these of any horoscopist or enchanter or Kesediym: 11 and it is an esteemed utterance the sovereign asks; and there is no one other who can show it in front of the sovereign - except the elahim who whirl not with flesh.

Therefore show the dream and the interpretation of it to me. 7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. 8 The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye would gain time, because ye see the thing has gone from me. 9 But if ye do not make known to me the dream, there is but one law for you, for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me till the time is changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can show me the interpretation of it. 10 The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth who can show the king's matter. Inasmuch as no king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean. 11 And it is a rare thing that the king requires, and there is no other who can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

CAB(i) 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in the Syrian language, saying, O king, live forever: tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 5 The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing has departed from me: if you do not make known to me the dream and the interpretation, you shall be destroyed, and your houses shall be spoiled. 6 But if you make known to me the dream, and the interpretation thereof, you shall receive from me gifts and presents and much honor: only tell me the dream, and its interpretation. 7 They answered the second time, and said, Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 8 And the king answered and said, I verily know that you are trying to gain time, because you see that the thing has gone from me. 9 If then you do not tell me the dream, I know that you have conspired to utter before me a false and corrupt tale, until the time has past: now tell me my dream, and I shall know that you will also declare to me its interpretation.
LXX2012(i) 4 And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in the Syrian language, [saying], O king, live for ever: do you tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 5 The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing has departed from me: if you⌃ do not make known to me the dream and the interpretation, you⌃ shall be destroyed, and your houses shall be spoiled. 6 But if you⌃ make known to me the dream, and the interpretation thereof, you⌃ shall receive of me gifts and presents and much honor: only tell me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. 7 They answered the second time, and said, Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation. 8 And the king answered and said, I verily know that you⌃ are trying to gain time, because you⌃ see that the thing has gone from me. 9 If then you⌃ do not tell me the dream, I know that you⌃ have concerted to utter before me a false and corrupt tale, until the time shall have past: tell me my dream, and I shall know that you⌃ will also declare to me the interpretation thereof.
NSB(i) 4 The Chaldeans spoke in the Syrian language: »O king, may you live for a very long time. Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it.« 5 The king answered: »I have decided. If you do not make the dream known to me and it’s interpretation you will be cut in pieces, and your houses will be made a dunghill (foul smelling pile of rubbish). 6 »But if you tell me the dream and what it means you will receive gifts and rewards and great honor from me. Therefore tell me the dream and the interpretation of it.« 7 They answered the second time. They said: »Let the king tell his servants the dream. Then we will tell the interpretation.« 8 The king responded: »I am certain that you bargain for time, because you see my command is firm. 9 »If you do not tell me my dream, the law will apply to you. You are stalling by speaking lies to me until I change my requirements. Tell me the dream, and I will know that you can show me the interpretation of it.« 10 The Chaldeans answered: »There is no man on earth who can do what the king requires. No king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean. 11 »It is a rare thing that the king requires. There is no other person who can show it to the king, except the gods, and they do not live with humans.«
ISV(i) 4 The Chaldeans responded to the king in Aramaic: “May the king live forever. Tell the dream to your servants, and we’ll reveal its meaning.”
5 In reply the king told the Chaldeans, “Here is what I have commanded: If you don’t tell me both the dream and its meaning, you’ll be destroyed and your houses will be reduced to rubble. 6 But if you do relate the dream to me as well as its meaning, you’ll receive gifts, rewards, and great honor from me. Therefore reveal the dream to me, along with its meaning.”
7 They replied again, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we’ll disclose its meaning.”
8 The king responded, “I’m convinced that you’re stalling for time because you’re aware of what I’ve commanded. 9 So if you don’t disclose the dream to me, there will be only one sentence for all of you. You have conspired together to present lies and corrupt interpretations until the situation changes. Now tell me the dream and I’ll know that you can reveal its true meaning.”
10 The Chaldeans answered the king directly, “There’s not a single man on earth who can do what the king has commanded. No king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such a thing from any diviner, enchanter, or Chaldean. 11 Furthermore, what the king is asking is so difficult that no one can reveal it except the gods—and they don’t live with human beings.”

So tell me the dream and its interpretation.” 7 They answered a second time, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will give the interpretation.” 8 The king replied, “I know for sure that you are stalling for time, because you see that my word is final. 9 If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one decree for you. Therefore tell me the dream and the interpretation of it." 7 They replied again, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we'll disclose its meaning." 8 The king answered, “I know of a certainty that you are trying to gain time, because you see the thing has gone from me. 9 "If you do not tell me my dream, the law will apply to you. You are stalling by speaking lies to me until I change my requirements. Tell me the dream, and I will know that you can show me the interpretation of it." 10 The Chaldeans answered: »There is no man on earth who can do what the king requires. No king, lord, or ruler, has asked such a thing of any magician, or enchanter, or Chaldean. 11 Furthermore, what the king is asking is so difficult that no one can reveal it except the gods and they don't live with human beings."

Croatian(i) 4 Kaldejci odgovoriše kralju (aramejski): "O kralju, živ bio dovijeka! Pripovjedi svoju sanju slugama svojim, a mi ćemo ti otkriti njezino značenje." 5 Kralj odgovori i reče zvjezdarima: "Moja je odluka neopoziva: ako mi ne kažete što sam snio i što san znači, bit ćete rastrgani u komade, a vaše će kuće postati smetišta. 6 No ako mi otkrijete moju sanju i njezino značenje, dobit ćete od mene darove i poklone i velike časti.
Pověz sen služebníkům svým, a oznámímeť výklad.

Finnish(i) 4 Niin sanoivat Kaldealaiset kuninkaalle Syrian kielellä: kuningas eläköön kauvan! sano palvelioilles uni, niin me tahdomme selittää sen. 7 He vastasivat jälIeen ja sanoivat: kuningas sanokaan palvelioillensa unen, me tahdomme sen selittää.
FinnishPR(i) 4 Silloin kaldealaiset puhuivat kuninkaalle araminkielellä: "Eläköön kuningas iankaikkisesti!

Men, bondye yo pa rete nan mitan moun.
Indonesian(i) 4 Mereka menjawab dalam bahasa Aram, "Hiduplah Tuanku selama-lamanya!

Portanto declarai-me o sonho e a sua interpretação.
