H4912 The proverbs H8010 of Solomon H1121 the son H1732 of David H4428 , king H3478 of Israel;
H3045 To know [H8800]   H2451 wisdom H4148 and instruction H995 ; to perceive [H8687]   H561 the words H998 of understanding;
H3947 To receive [H8800]   H4148 the instruction H7919 of wisdom [H8687]   H6664 , justice H4941 , and judgment H4339 , and equity;
H5414 To give [H8800]   H6195 subtilty H6612 to the simple H5288 , to the young man H1847 knowledge H4209 and discretion.
H2450 A wise H8085 man will hear [H8799]   H3254 , and will increase [H8686]   H3948 learning H995 ; and a man of understanding [H8737]   H7069 shall attain [H8799]   H8458 unto wise counsels:
H995 To understand [H8687]   H4912 a proverb H4426 , and the interpretation H1697 ; the words H2450 of the wise H2420 , and their dark sayings.
H3374 The fear H3068 of the LORD H7225 is the beginning H1847 of knowledge H191 : but fools H936 despise [H8804]   H2451 wisdom H4148 and instruction.
H1121 My son H8085 , hear [H8798]   H4148 the instruction H1 of thy father H5203 , and forsake [H8799]   H8451 not the law H517 of thy mother:
H3880 For they shall be an ornament H2580 of grace H7218 unto thy head H6060 , and chains H1621 about thy neck.
H1121 My son H2400 , if sinners H6601 entice [H8762]   H14 thee, consent [H8799]   thou not.
H559 If they say [H8799]   H3212 , Come [H8798]   H693 with us, let us lay wait [H8799]   H1818 for blood H6845 , let us lurk [H8799]   H5355 privily for the innocent H2600 without cause:
H1104 Let us swallow them up [H8799]   H2416 alive H7585 as the grave H8549 ; and whole H3381 , as those that go down [H8802]   H953 into the pit:
H4672 We shall find [H8799]   H3368 all precious H1952 substance H4390 , we shall fill [H8762]   H1004 our houses H7998 with spoil:
H5307 Cast [H8686]   H1486 in thy lot H8432 among H259 us; let us all have one H3599 purse:
H1121 My son H3212 , walk [H8799]   H1870 not thou in the way H4513 with them; refrain [H8798]   H7272 thy foot H5410 from their path:
H7272 For their feet H7323 run [H8799]   H7451 to evil H4116 , and make haste [H8762]   H8210 to shed [H8800]   H1818 blood.
H2600 Surely in vain H7568 the net H2219 is spread [H8794]   H5869 in the sight H1167 of any bird H3671  .
H693 And they lay wait [H8799]   H1818 for their own blood H6845 ; they lurk privily [H8799]   H5315 for their own lives.
H734 So are the ways H1214 of every one that is greedy [H8802]   H1215 of gain H3947 ; which taketh away [H8799]   H5315 the life H1167 of the owners thereof.
H2454 Wisdom H7442 crieth [H8799]   H2351 without H5414 ; she uttereth [H8799]   H6963 her voice H7339 in the streets:
H7121 She crieth [H8799]   H7218 in the chief place H1993 of concourse [H8802]   H6607 , in the openings H8179 of the gates H5892 : in the city H559 she uttereth [H8799]   H561 her words, saying,
H6612 How long, ye simple ones H157 , will ye love [H8799]   H6612 simplicity H3887 ? and the scorners [H8801]   H2530 delight [H8804]   H3944 in their scorning H3684 , and fools H8130 hate [H8799]   H1847 knowledge?
H7725 Turn [H8799]   H8433 you at my reproof H5042 : behold, I will pour out [H8686]   H7307 my spirit H3045 unto you, I will make known [H8686]   H1697 my words unto you.
H7121 Because I have called [H8804]   H3985 , and ye refused [H8762]   H5186 ; I have stretched out [H8804]   H3027 my hand H7181 , and no man regarded [H8688]  ;
H6544 But ye have set at nought [H8799]   H6098 all my counsel H14 , and would [H8804]   H8433 none of my reproof:
H7832 I also will laugh [H8799]   H343 at your calamity H3932 ; I will mock [H8799]   H6343 when your fear H935 cometh [H8800]  ;
H6343 When your fear H935 cometh [H8800]   H7722 as desolation [H8675]   H7584   H343 , and your destruction H857 cometh [H8799]   H5492 as a whirlwind H6869 ; when distress H6695 and anguish H935 cometh [H8800]   upon you.
H7121 Then shall they call [H8799]   H6030 upon me, but I will not answer [H8799]   H7836 ; they shall seek me early [H8762]   H4672 , but they shall not find [H8799]   me:
H8130 For that they hated [H8804]   H1847 knowledge H977 , and did not choose [H8804]   H3374 the fear H3068 of the LORD:
H14 They would [H8804]   H6098 none of my counsel H5006 : they despised [H8804]   H8433 all my reproof.
H398 Therefore shall they eat [H8799]   H6529 of the fruit H1870 of their own way H7646 , and be filled [H8799]   H4156 with their own devices.
H4878 For the turning away H6612 of the simple H2026 shall slay [H8799]   H7962 them, and the prosperity H3684 of fools H6 shall destroy [H8762]   them.
H8085 But whoso hearkeneth [H8802]   H7931 unto me shall dwell [H8799]   H983 safely H7599 , and shall be quiet [H8768]   H6343 from fear H7451 of evil.
KJV(i) 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: 6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. 10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: 12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: 13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: 14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: 15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: 16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. 17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. 18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. 19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. 20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: 21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, 22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
