Numbers 5 And the LORD spake unto Moses , saying ,

1 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

2 H6680 Command [H8761] H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H7971 , that they put out [H8762] H4264 of the camp H6879 every leper [H8803] H2100 , and every one that hath an issue [H8802] H2931 , and whosoever is defiled H5315 by the dead:

3 H2145 Both male H5347 and female H7971 shall ye put out [H8762] H2351 , without H4264 the camp H7971 shall ye put [H8762] H2930 them; that they defile [H8762] H4264 not their camps H8432 , in the midst H834 whereof H7931 I dwell [H8802] .

4 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H6213 did so [H8799] H7971 , and put them out [H8762] H2351 without H4264 the camp H3068 : as the LORD H1696 spake [H8765] H4872 unto Moses H6213 , so did [H8804] H1121 the children H3478 of Israel.

5 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

6 H1696 Speak [H8761] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H376 , When a man H802 or woman H6213 shall commit [H8799] H2403 any sin H120 that men H4603 commit [H8800] H4604 , to do a trespass H3068 against the LORD H5315 , and that person H816 be guilty [H8804] ;

7 H3034 Then they shall confess [H8694] H2403 their sin H6213 which they have done [H8804] H7725 : and he shall recompense [H8689] H817 his trespass H7218 with the principal H3254 thereof, and add [H8686] H2549 unto it the fifth H5414 part thereof, and give [H8804] H816 it unto him against whom he hath trespassed [H8804] .

8 H376 But if the man H1350 have no kinsman [H8802] H7725 to recompense [H8687] H817 the trespass H817 unto, let the trespass H7725 be recompensed [H8716] H3068 unto the LORD H3548 , even to the priest H352 ; beside the ram H3725 of the atonement H3722 , whereby an atonement shall be made [H8762] for him.

9 H8641 And every offering H6944 of all the holy things H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H7126 , which they bring [H8686] H3548 unto the priest, shall be his.

10 H376 And every man's H6944 hallowed things H376 shall be his: whatsoever any man H5414 giveth [H8799] H3548 the priest, it shall be his.

11 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

12 H1696 Speak [H8761] H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H559 , and say [H8804] H376 unto them, If any H376 man's H802 wife H7847 go aside [H8799] H4603 , and commit [H8804] H4604 a trespass against him,

13 H376 And a man H7901 lie [H8804] H7902 with her carnally H2233 H5956 , and it be hid [H8738] H5869 from the eyes H376 of her husband H5641 , and be kept close [H8738] H2930 , and she be defiled [H8738] H5707 , and there be no witness H8610 against her, neither she be taken [H8738] with the manner;

14 H7307 And the spirit H7068 of jealousy H5674 come [H8804] H7065 upon him, and he be jealous [H8765] H802 of his wife H2930 , and she be defiled [H8738] H7307 : or if the spirit H7068 of jealousy H5674 come [H8804] H7065 upon him, and he be jealous [H8765] H802 of his wife H2930 , and she be not defiled [H8738] :

15 H376 Then shall the man H935 bring [H8689] H802 his wife H3548 unto the priest H935 , and he shall bring [H8689] H7133 her offering H6224 for her, the tenth H374 part of an ephah H8184 of barley H7058 meal H3332 ; he shall pour [H8799] H8081 no oil H5414 upon it, nor put [H8799] H3828 frankincense H4503 thereon; for it is an offering H7068 of jealousy H4503 , an offering H2146 of memorial H2142 , bringing H5771 iniquity H2142 to remembrance [H8688] .

16 H3548 And the priest H7126 shall bring her near [H8689] H5975 , and set [H8689] H6440 her before H3068 the LORD:

17 H3548 And the priest H3947 shall take [H8804] H6918 holy H4325 water H2789 in an earthen H3627 vessel H6083 ; and of the dust H7172 that is in the floor H4908 of the tabernacle H3548 the priest H3947 shall take [H8799] H5414 , and put [H8804] H4325 it into the water:

18 H3548 And the priest H5975 shall set [H8689] H802 the woman H6440 before H3068 the LORD H6544 , and uncover [H8804] H802 the woman's H7218 head H5414 , and put [H8804] H4503 the offering H2146 of memorial H3709 in her hands H7068 , which is the jealousy H4503 offering H3548 : and the priest H3027 shall have in his hand H4751 the bitter H4325 water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] :

19 H3548 And the priest H7650 shall charge her by an oath [H8689] H559 , and say [H8804] H802 unto the woman H376 , If no man H7901 have lain [H8804] H7847 with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside [H8804] H2932 to uncleanness H376 with another instead of thy husband H5352 , be thou free [H8734] H4751 from this bitter H4325 water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] :

20 H7847 But if thou hast gone aside [H8804] H376 to another instead of thy husband H2930 , and if thou be defiled [H8738] H376 , and some man H5414 have [H8799] H7903 lain H1107 with thee beside H376 thine husband:

21 H3548 Then the priest H7650 shall charge [H8689] H802 the woman H7621 with an oath H423 of cursing H3548 , and the priest H559 shall say [H8804] H802 unto the woman H3068 , The LORD H5414 make [H8799] H423 thee a curse H7621 and an oath H8432 among H5971 thy people H3068 , when the LORD H5414 doth make [H8800] H3409 thy thigh H5307 to rot [H8802] H990 , and thy belly H6639 to swell;

22 H4325 And this water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] H935 shall go [H8804] H4578 into thy bowels H990 , to make thy belly H6638 to swell [H8687] H3409 , and thy thigh H5307 to rot [H8687] H802 : And the woman H559 shall say [H8804] H543 , Amen H543 , amen.

23 H3548 And the priest H3789 shall write [H8804] H423 these curses H5612 in a book H4229 , and he shall blot [H8804] H4751 them out with the bitter H4325 water:

24 H802 And he shall cause the woman H8248 to drink [H8689] H4751 the bitter H4325 water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] H4325 : and the water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] H935 shall enter [H8804] H4751 into her, and become bitter.

25 H3548 Then the priest H3947 shall take [H8804] H7068 the jealousy H4503 offering H802 out of the woman's H3027 hand H5130 , and shall wave [H8689] H4503 the offering H6440 before H3068 the LORD H7126 , and offer [H8689] H4196 it upon the altar:

26 H3548 And the priest H7061 shall take an handful [H8804] H4503 of the offering H234 , even the memorial H6999 thereof, and burn [H8689] H4196 it upon the altar H310 , and afterward H802 shall cause the woman H8248 to drink [H8686] H4325 the water.

27 H8248 And when he hath made her to drink [H8689] H4325 the water H2930 , then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled [H8738] H4603 , and have done [H8799] H4604 trespass H376 against her husband H4325 , that the water H779 that causeth the curse [H8764] H935 shall enter [H8804] H4751 into her, and become bitter H990 , and her belly H6638 shall swell [H8804] H3409 , and her thigh H5307 shall rot [H8804] H802 : and the woman H423 shall be a curse H7130 among H5971 her people.

28 H802 And if the woman H2930 be not defiled [H8738] H2889 , but be clean H5352 ; then she shall be free [H8738] H2232 , and shall conceive [H8738] H2233 seed.

29 H8451 This is the law H7068 of jealousies H802 , when a wife H7847 goeth aside [H8799] H376 to another instead of her husband H2930 , and is defiled [H8738] ;

30 H7307 Or when the spirit H7068 of jealousy H5674 cometh [H8799] H376 upon him H7065 , and he be jealous [H8765] H802 over his wife H5975 , and shall set [H8689] H802 the woman H6440 before H3068 the LORD H3548 , and the priest H6213 shall execute [H8804] H8451 upon her all this law.

31 H376 Then shall the man H5352 be guiltless [H8738] H5771 from iniquity H1931 , and this H802 woman H5375 shall bear [H8799] H5771 her iniquity.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ² Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is unclean by the dead: ³ both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camp, in the midst whereof I dwell. ⁴ And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel. ⁵ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ⁶ Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that soul be guilty; ⁷ then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him in respect of whom he hath been guilty. ⁸ But if the man have no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the guilt, the restitution for guilt which is made unto the LORD shall be the priest’s; besides the ram of the atonement, whereby atonement shall be made for him. ⁹ And every heave offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they present unto the priest, shall be his. ¹⁰ And every man’s hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his. ¹¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ¹² Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man’s wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him, ¹³ and a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken in the act; ¹⁴ and the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled: ¹⁵ then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and shall bring her oblation for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is a meal offering of jealousy, a meal offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance. ¹⁶ And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD: ¹⁷ and the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water: ¹⁸ and the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and put the meal offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal offering of jealousy: and the priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that causeth the curse: ¹⁹ and the priest shall cause her to swear, and shall say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness, being under thy husband, be thou free from this water of bitterness that causeth the curse: ²⁰ but if thou hast gone aside, being under thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee besides thine husband: ²¹ then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to fall away, and thy belly to swell; ²² and this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, and make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to fall away: and the woman shall say, Amen, Amen. ²³ And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness: ²⁴ and he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her [and become] bitter. ²⁵ And the priest shall take the meal offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand, and shall wave the meal offering before the LORD, and bring it unto the altar: ²⁶ and the priest shall take an handful of the meal offering, as the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. ²⁷ And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, if she be defiled, and have committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her [and become] bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. ²⁸ And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed. ²⁹ This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goeth aside, and is defiled; ³⁰ or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon a man, and he be jealous over his wife; then shall he set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. ³¹ And the man shall be free from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.
