2 Peter 3 This second epistle , beloved , I now write unto you ; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

3 G1097 Knowing [G5723] G5124 this G4412 first G3754 , that G2064 there shall come [G5695] G1909 in G2078 the last G2250 days G1703 scoffers G4198 , walking [G5740] G2596 after G846 their G2398 own G1939 lusts,

4 G2532 And G3004 saying [G5723] G4226 , Where G2076 is [G5748] G1860 the promise G846 of his G3952 coming G1063 ? for G575 since G3739 G3962 the fathers G2837 fell asleep [G5681] G3956 , all things G3779 continue G1265 [G5719] G575 as they were from G746 the beginning G2937 of the creation.

5 G1063 For G5124 this G846 they G2309 willingly [G5723] G2990 are ignorant of [G5719] G3754 , that G3056 by the word G2316 of God G3772 the heavens G2258 were [G5713] G1597 of old G2532 , and G1093 the earth G4921 standing out [G5761] G1537 of G5204 the water G2532 and G1223 in G5204 the water:

6 G1223 Whereby G3739 G2889 the world G5119 that then was G2626 , being overflowed [G5685] G5204 with water G622 , perished [G5639] :

7 G1161 But G3772 the heavens G2532 and G1093 the earth G3568 , which are now G846 , by the same G3056 word G1526 are [G5748] G2343 kept in store [G5772] G5083 , reserved [G5746] G4442 unto fire G1519 against G2250 the day G2920 of judgment G2532 and G684 perdition G765 of ungodly G444 men.

8 G1161 But G27 , beloved G2990 , be G3361 not G5209 G2990 ignorant [G5720] G1520 of this one G5124 thing G3754 , that G3391 one G2250 day G3844 is with G2962 the Lord G5613 as G5507 a thousand G2094 years G2532 , and G5507 a thousand G2094 years G5613 as G3391 one G2250 day.

9 G2962 The Lord G1019 is G3756 not G1019 slack [G5719] G1860 concerning his promise G5613 , as G5100 some men G2233 count [G5736] G1022 slackness G235 ; but G3114 is longsuffering [G5719] G1519 to G2248 us-ward G3361 , not G1014 willing [G5740] G5100 that any G622 should perish [G5641] G235 , but G3956 that all G5562 should come [G5658] G1519 to G3341 repentance.

10 G1161 But G2250 the day G2962 of the Lord G2240 will come [G5692] G5613 as G2812 a thief G1722 in G3571 the night G1722 ; in G3739 the which G3772 the heavens G3928 shall pass away [G5695] G4500 with a great noise G1161 , and G4747 the elements G3089 shall melt [G5701] G2741 with fervent heat [G5746] G1093 , the earth G2532 also G2532 and G2041 the works G1722 that are therein G846 G2618 shall be burned up [G5691] .

11 G3767 Seeing then G3956 that all G5130 these things G3089 shall be dissolved [G5746] G4217 , what manner G1163 of persons ought [G5748] G5209 ye G5225 to be [G5721] G1722 in G40 all holy G391 conversation G2532 and G2150 godliness,

12 G4328 Looking for [G5723] G2532 and G4692 hasting [G5723] G3952 unto the coming G2250 of the day G2316 of God G1223 , wherein G3739 G3772 the heavens G4448 being on fire [G5746] G3089 shall be dissolved [G5701] G2532 , and G4747 the elements G5080 shall melt [G5743] G2741 with fervent heat [G5746] ?

13 G1161 Nevertheless G4328 we G2596 , according to G846 his G1862 promise G4328 , look for [G5719] G2537 new G3772 heavens G2532 and G2537 a new G1093 earth G1722 , wherein G3739 G2730 dwelleth [G5719] G1343 righteousness.

14 G1352 Wherefore G27 , beloved G4328 , seeing that ye look for [G5723] G5023 such things G4704 , be diligent [G5657] G2147 that ye may be found [G5683] G846 of him G1722 in G1515 peace G784 , without spot G2532 , and G298 blameless.

15 G2532 And G2233 account [G5737] G3115 that the longsuffering G2257 of our G2962 Lord G4991 is salvation G2531 ; even as G2257 our G27 beloved G80 brother G3972 Paul G2532 also G2596 according to G4678 the wisdom G1325 given [G5685] G846 unto him G1125 hath written [G5656] G5213 unto you;

16 G5613 As G2532 also G1722 in G3956 all G1992 his epistles G2980 , speaking [G5723] G1722 in G846 them G4012 of G5130 these things G1722 ; in G3739 which G2076 are [G5748] G5100 some things G1425 hard to be understood G3739 , which G261 they that are unlearned G2532 and G793 unstable G4761 wrest [G5719] G5613 , as G2532 they do also G3062 the other G1124 scriptures G4314 , unto G846 their G2398 own G684 destruction.

17 G5210 Ye G3767 therefore G27 , beloved G4267 , seeing ye know these things before [G5723] G5442 , beware [G5732] G3363 lest G1601 ye also G4879 , being led away [G5685] G4106 with the error G113 of the wicked G1601 , fall from [G5632] G2398 your own G4740 stedfastness.

18 G1161 But G837 grow [G5720] G1722 in G5485 grace G2532 , and G1108 in the knowledge G2257 of our G2962 Lord G2532 and G4990 Saviour G2424 Jesus G5547 Christ G846 . To him G1391 be glory G2532 both G3568 now G2532 and G1519 for G165 ever G2250 G281 . Amen.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ This is now, beloved, the second epistle that I write unto you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by putting you in remembrance; ² that ye should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles: ³ knowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come with mockery, walking after their own lusts, ⁴ and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. ⁵ For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God; ⁶ by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: ⁷ but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. ⁸ But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in [all] holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight. ¹⁵ And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you; ¹⁶ as also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. ¹⁷ Ye therefore, beloved, knowing [these things] beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness. ¹⁸ But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] the glory both now and for ever. Amen.
