2 Kings 17:6-23 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria , and carried Israel away into Assyria , and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan , and in the cities of the Medes.

7 H1121 For so it was, that the children H3478 of Israel H2398 had sinned [H8804] H3068 against the LORD H430 their God H5927 , which had brought them up [H8688] H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H3027 , from under the hand H6547 of Pharaoh H4428 king H4714 of Egypt H3372 , and had feared [H8799] H312 other H430 gods,

8 H3212 And walked [H8799] H2708 in the statutes H1471 of the heathen H3068 , whom the LORD H3423 cast out [H8689] H6440 from before H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H4428 , and of the kings H3478 of Israel H6213 , which they had made [H8804] .

9 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H2644 did secretly [H8762] H1697 those things H3068 that were not right against the LORD H430 their God H1129 , and they built [H8799] H1116 them high places H5892 in all their cities H4026 , from the tower H5341 of the watchmen [H8802] H4013 to the fenced H5892 city.

10 H5324 And they set them up [H8686] H4676 images H842 and groves H1364 in every high H1389 hill H7488 , and under every green H6086 tree:

11 H6999 And there they burnt incense [H8762] H1116 in all the high places H1471 , as did the heathen H3068 whom the LORD H1540 carried away [H8689] H6440 before H6213 them; and wrought [H8799] H7451 wicked H1697 things H3068 to provoke the LORD H3707 to anger [H8687] :

12 H5647 For they served [H8799] H1544 idols H3068 , whereof the LORD H559 had said [H8804] H6213 unto them, Ye shall not do [H8799] H1697 this thing.

13 H3068 Yet the LORD H5749 testified [H8686] H3478 against Israel H3063 , and against Judah H3027 , by H5030 all the prophets H2374 , and by all the seers H559 , saying [H8800] H7725 , Turn [H8798] H7451 ye from your evil H1870 ways H8104 , and keep [H8798] H4687 my commandments H2708 and my statutes H8451 , according to all the law H6680 which I commanded [H8765] H1 your fathers H7971 , and which I sent [H8804] H3027 to you by H5650 my servants H5030 the prophets.

14 H8085 Notwithstanding they would not hear [H8804] H7185 , but hardened [H8686] H6203 their necks H6203 , like to the neck H1 of their fathers H539 , that did not believe [H8689] H3068 in the LORD H430 their God.

15 H3988 And they rejected [H8799] H2706 his statutes H1285 , and his covenant H3772 that he made [H8804] H1 with their fathers H5715 , and his testimonies H5749 which he testified [H8689] H3212 against them; and they followed [H8799] H310 H1892 vanity H1891 , and became vain [H8799] H310 , and went after H1471 the heathen H5439 that were round about H3068 them, concerning whom the LORD H6680 had charged [H8765] H6213 them, that they should not do [H8800] like them.

16 H5800 And they left [H8799] H4687 all the commandments H3068 of the LORD H430 their God H6213 , and made [H8799] H4541 them molten images H8147 , even two H5695 calves H6213 , and made [H8799] H842 a grove H7812 , and worshipped [H8691] H6635 all the host H8064 of heaven H5647 , and served [H8799] H1168 Baal.

17 H1121 And they caused their sons H1323 and their daughters H5674 to pass [H8686] H784 through the fire H7080 , and used [H8799] H7081 divination H5172 and enchantments [H8762] H4376 , and sold [H8691] H6213 themselves to do [H8800] H7451 evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H3707 , to provoke him to anger [H8687] .

18 H3068 Therefore the LORD H3966 was very H599 angry [H8691] H3478 with Israel H5493 , and removed [H8686] H6440 them out of his sight H7604 : there was none left [H8738] H7626 but the tribe H3063 of Judah only.

19 H3063 Also Judah H8104 kept [H8804] H4687 not the commandments H3068 of the LORD H430 their God H3212 , but walked [H8799] H2708 in the statutes H3478 of Israel H6213 which they made [H8804] .

20 H3068 And the LORD H3988 rejected [H8799] H2233 all the seed H3478 of Israel H6031 , and afflicted [H8762] H5414 them, and delivered [H8799] H3027 them into the hand H8154 of spoilers [H8802] H7993 , until he had cast [H8689] H6440 them out of his sight.

21 H7167 For he rent [H8804] H3478 Israel H1004 from the house H1732 of David H3379 ; and they made Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat H4427 king [H8686] H3379 : and Jeroboam H5080 drave [H8686] [H8675] H5077 [H8686] H3478 Israel H310 from following H3068 the LORD H2398 , and made them sin [H8689] H1419 a great H2401 sin.

22 H1121 For the children H3478 of Israel H3212 walked [H8799] H2403 in all the sins H3379 of Jeroboam H6213 which he did [H8804] H5493 ; they departed [H8804] not from them;

23 H3068 Until the LORD H5493 removed [H8689] H3478 Israel H6440 out of his sight H1696 , as he had said [H8765] H3027 by H5650 all his servants H5030 the prophets H3478 . So was Israel H1540 carried away [H8799] H127 out of their own land H804 to Assyria H3117 unto this day.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away unto Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor, [on] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. ⁷ And it was so, because the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, ⁸ and walked in the statutes of the nations, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made. ⁹ And the children of Israel did secretly things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. ¹⁰ and they set them up pillars and Asherim upon every high hill, and under every green tree: ¹¹ and there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the nations whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger: ¹² and they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing. ¹³ Yet the LORD testified unto Israel, and unto Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and of every seer, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by the hand of my servants the prophets. ¹⁴ Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their neck, like to the neck of their fathers, who believed not in the LORD their God. ¹⁵ And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified unto them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and [went] after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them. ¹⁶ And they forsook all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. ¹⁷ And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. ¹⁸ Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only. ¹⁹ Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made. ²⁰ And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight. ²¹ For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin. ²² And the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them; ²³ until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he spake by the hand of all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria, unto this day.
