Jeremiah 41:1-18 Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.

2 H6965 Then arose H3458 Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah, H6235 and the ten H582 men H5221 that were with him, and smote H1436 Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan H2719 with the sword, H4191 and slew H834 him, whom H4428 the king H894 of Babylon H6485 had made governor H776 over the land.

3 H3458 Ishmael H5221 also slew H3605 all H3064 the Jews H1436 that were with him, even with Gedaliah, H4709 at Mizpah, H3778 and the Chaldeans H4672 that were found H8033 there, H582 and the men H4421 of war.

4 H1961 And it came H8145 to pass the second H3117 day H4191 after he had slain H1436 Gedaliah, H3808 and no H376 man H3045 knew it,

5 H935 That there came H582 certain H7927 from Shechem, H7887 from Shiloh, H8111 and from Samaria, H8084 even fourscore H376 men, H2206 having their beards H1548 shaven, H899 and their clothes H7167 rent, H1413 and having cut H4503 themselves, with offerings H3828 and incense H3027 in their hand, H935 to bring H1004 them to the house H3068 of the LORD.

6 H3458 And Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H3318 went H3318 forth H4709 from Mizpah H7125 to meet H1058 them, weeping H1980 all along H1980 as he went: H1961 and it came H6298 to pass, as he met H559 them, he said H935 to them, Come H1436 to Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam.

7 H935 And it was so, when they came H413 into H8432 the middle H5892 of the city, H3458 that Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H7819 slew H413 them, and cast them into H8432 the middle H953 of the pit, H582 he, and the men that were with him.

8 H6235 But ten H582 men H4672 were found H559 among them that said H3458 to Ishmael, H4191 Slay H3426 us not: for we have H4301 treasures H7704 in the field, H2406 of wheat, H8184 and of barley, H8081 and of oil, H1706 and of honey. H2308 So he declined, H4191 and slew H8432 them not among H251 their brothers.

9 H953 Now the pit H834 wherein H3458 Ishmael H7993 had cast H3605 all H6297 the dead H6297 bodies H582 of the men, H834 whom H5221 he had slain H3027 because H1436 of Gedaliah, H834 was it which H609 Asa H4428 the king H6213 had made H6440 for fear H1201 of Baasha H4428 king H3478 of Israel: H3458 and Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H4390 filled H2491 it with them that were slain.

10 H3458 Then Ishmael H7617 carried H7617 away captive H3605 all H7611 the residue H5971 of the people H4709 that were in Mizpah, H853 even H4428 the king’s H1323 daughters, H3605 and all H5971 the people H7604 that remained H4709 in Mizpah, H834 whom H5018 Nebuzaradan H7227 the captain H2876 of the guard H6485 had committed H1436 to Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam: H3458 and Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H7617 carried H7617 them away captive, H3212 and departed H5674 to go H5674 over H5984 to the Ammonites.

11 H3110 But when Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H3605 and all H8269 the captains H2428 of the forces H8085 that were with him, heard H3605 of all H7451 the evil H3458 that Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H6213 had done,

12 H3947 Then they took H3605 all H582 the men, H3212 and went H3898 to fight H3458 with Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah, H4672 and found H7227 him by the great H4325 waters H1391 that are in Gibeon.

13 H1961 Now it came H3605 to pass, that when all H5971 the people H834 which H3458 were with Ishmael H7200 saw H3110 Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H3605 and all H8269 the captains H2428 of the forces H8056 that were with him, then they were glad.

14 H3605 So all H5971 the people H3458 that Ishmael H7617 had carried H7617 away captive H4709 from Mizpah H5437 cast H5437 about H7725 and returned, H3212 and went H3110 to Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah.

15 H3458 But Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H4422 escaped H3110 from Johanan H8083 with eight H582 men, H3212 and went H5984 to the Ammonites.

16 H3947 Then took H3110 Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H3605 and all H8269 the captains H2428 of the forces H3605 that were with him, all H7611 the remnant H5971 of the people H834 whom H7725 he had recovered H3458 from Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah, H4709 from Mizpah, H310 after H5221 that he had slain H1436 Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam, H1397 even mighty H582 men H4421 of war, H802 and the women, H2945 and the children, H5631 and the eunuchs, H834 whom H7725 he had brought H7725 again H1391 from Gibeon:

17 H3212 And they departed, H3427 and dwelled H1628 in the habitation H3643 of Chimham, H834 which H1035 is by Bethlehem, H3212 to go H935 to enter H4714 into Egypt,

18 H6440 Because H3778 of the Chaldeans: H3372 for they were afraid H3588 of them, because H3458 Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H5221 had slain H1436 Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam, H834 whom H4428 the king H894 of Babylon H6485 made governor H776 in the land.
