2 Chronicles 2 And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD , and an house for his kingdom.

2 H8010 And Solomon H5608 told out [H8799] H7657 threescore and ten H505 thousand H376 men H5449 to bear burdens H8084 , and fourscore H505 thousand H376 H2672 to hew [H8802] H2022 in the mountain H7969 , and three H505 thousand H8337 and six H3967 hundred H5329 to oversee [H8764] them.

3 H8010 And Solomon H7971 sent [H8799] H2361 to Huram H4428 the king H6865 of Tyre H559 , saying [H8800] H6213 , As thou didst deal [H8804] H1732 with David H1 my father H7971 , and didst send [H8799] H730 him cedars H1129 to build [H8800] H1004 him an house H3427 to dwell [H8800] therein, even so deal with me .

4 H1129 Behold, I build [H8802] H1004 an house H8034 to the name H3068 of the LORD H430 my God H6942 , to dedicate [H8687] H6999 it to him, and to burn [H8687] H6440 before H5561 him sweet H7004 incense H8548 , and for the continual H4635 shewbread H5930 , and for the burnt offerings H1242 morning H6153 and evening H7676 , on the sabbaths H2320 , and on the new moons H4150 , and on the solemn feasts H3068 of the LORD H430 our God H5769 . This is an ordinance for ever H3478 to Israel.

5 H1004 And the house H1129 which I build [H8802] H1419 is great H1419 : for great H430 is our God H430 above all gods.

6 H6113 But who is able [H8799] H3581 H1129 to build [H8800] H1004 him an house H8064 , seeing the heaven H8064 and heaven H8064 of heavens H3557 cannot contain [H8770] H1129 him? who am I then, that I should build [H8799] H1004 him an house H518 , save only H6999 to burn sacrifice [H8687] H6440 before him?

7 H7971 Send [H8798] H376 me now therefore a man H2450 cunning H6213 to work [H8800] H2091 in gold H3701 , and in silver H5178 , and in brass H1270 , and in iron H710 , and in purple H3758 , and crimson H8504 , and blue H3045 , and that can skill [H8802] H6605 to grave [H8763] H6603 H2450 with the cunning men H3063 that are with me in Judah H3389 and in Jerusalem H1732 , whom David H1 my father H3559 did provide [H8689] .

8 H7971 Send [H8798] H730 me also cedar H6086 trees H1265 , fir trees H418 , and algum trees H3844 , out of Lebanon H3045 : for I know [H8804] H5650 that thy servants H3045 can skill [H8802] H3772 to cut [H8800] H6086 timber H3844 in Lebanon H5650 ; and, behold, my servants H5650 shall be with thy servants,

9 H3559 Even to prepare [H8687] H6086 me timber H7230 in abundance H1004 : for the house H1129 which I am about to build [H8802] H6381 shall be wonderful [H8687] H1419 great.

10 H5414 And, behold, I will give [H8804] H5650 to thy servants H2404 , the hewers [H8802] H3772 that cut [H8802] H6086 timber H6242 , twenty H505 thousand H3734 measures H4347 of beaten H2406 wheat H6242 , and twenty H505 thousand H3734 measures H8184 of barley H6242 , and twenty H505 thousand H1324 baths H3196 of wine H6242 , and twenty H505 thousand H1324 baths H8081 of oil.

11 H2361 Then Huram H4428 the king H6865 of Tyre H559 answered [H8799] H3791 in writing H7971 , which he sent [H8799] H8010 to Solomon H3068 , Because the LORD H160 hath loved H5971 his people H5414 , he hath made [H8804] H4428 thee king over them.

12 H2361 Huram H559 said [H8799] H1288 moreover, Blessed [H8803] H3068 be the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H6213 , that made [H8804] H8064 heaven H776 and earth H5414 , who hath given [H8804] H1732 to David H4428 the king H2450 a wise H1121 son H3045 , endued [H8802] H7922 with prudence H998 and understanding H1129 , that might build [H8799] H1004 an house H3068 for the LORD H1004 , and an house H4438 for his kingdom.

13 H7971 And now I have sent [H8804] H2450 a cunning H376 man H3045 , endued [H8802] H998 with understanding H2361 , of Huram H1 my father's,

14 H1121 The son H802 of a woman H1323 of the daughters H1835 of Dan H1 , and his father H376 was a man H6876 of Tyre H3045 , skilful [H8802] H6213 to work [H8800] H2091 in gold H3701 , and in silver H5178 , in brass H1270 , in iron H68 , in stone H6086 , and in timber H713 , in purple H8504 , in blue H948 , and in fine linen H3758 , and in crimson H6605 ; also to grave [H8763] H6603 any manner of graving H2803 , and to find out [H8800] H4284 every device H5414 which shall be put [H8735] H2450 to him, with thy cunning men H2450 , and with the cunning men H113 of my lord H1732 David H1 thy father.

15 H2406 Now therefore the wheat H8184 , and the barley H8081 , the oil H3196 , and the wine H113 , which my lord H559 hath spoken [H8804] H7971 of, let him send [H8799] H5650 unto his servants:

16 H3772 And we will cut [H8799] H6086 wood H3844 out of Lebanon H6878 , as much as thou shalt need H935 : and we will bring [H8686] H7513 it to thee in floats H3220 by sea H3305 to Joppa H5927 ; and thou shalt carry it up [H8686] H3389 to Jerusalem.

17 H8010 And Solomon H5608 numbered [H8799] H582 all the strangers H1616 H776 that were in the land H3478 of Israel H310 , after H5610 the numbering H1732 wherewith David H1 his father H5608 had numbered [H8804] H4672 them; and they were found [H8735] H3967 an hundred H2572 and fifty H505 thousand H7969 and three H505 thousand H8337 and six H3967 hundred.

18 H6213 And he set [H8799] H7657 threescore and ten H505 thousand H5449 of them to be bearers of burdens H8084 , and fourscore H505 thousand H2672 to be hewers [H8802] H2022 in the mountain H7969 , and three H505 thousand H8337 and six H3967 hundred H5329 overseers [H8764] H5647 to set H5971 the people H5647 a work [H8687] .

This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. ⁵ And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods. ⁶ But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him? ⁷ Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide. ⁸ Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants, ⁹ Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great. ¹⁰ And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil. ¹¹ Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them. ¹² Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom. ¹³ And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father's, ¹⁴ The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father. ¹⁵ Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants: ¹⁶ And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem. ¹⁷ And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. ¹⁸ And he set threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
